Facebook Page Optimization Guide
1. Facebook
• Image sizes:
• Page cover photo: 851 x 315
• NB rules as to what can be included eg
20% text
• Profile image: 180 x 180
• Custom tabs: 111 x 74
• Highlighted status; 843 x 403

• Go to your Personal Profile:
• “Update Info”
• Edit “Work and Education”

• Claim Your Busines Name: (vanity url)

• NB You can only change your name

6. Page Admins
Have more than one admin – in case you lock
yourself out of the account.

•Manage Admin Roles
•Start typing the name of your other admin
Used to be able to add via email. Doesn’t seem to
work. Need to be a facebook friend.
7. Featured Likes and Admins
If you want pages that you have liked to
show up on your page or if you want to
show up publicly as the admin of the page:
• Edit Page
• Update Public Info
• Click “Featured” on left hand side
• Update featured pages or admins.

9. Add to Twitter
• Want to automate your facebook posts so
that they appear on your twitter stream?
• Edit Page
• Edit Settings
• Click “Resources” (on left hand side)
• Click “link your page to twitter
10. Short Description
• Edit Page
• Update Public Information
• Short Description
This is your main chance to describe what
you do when people look at your Page.
Possibly include phone number or web
address so people have quick way to find
contact details.

12. Cover Photo
• This is the large background photo at the
top of your page
• Must be 399 pixels wide and must not
contain more than 20% text
• To change the photo, hover over the
image and you will see “change cover”
13. Adding photos to posts
• If you add a web link to a facebook page
post and you don’t like the image that it
pulls in, you can just add a new image to
the post.
• It will save the web link but the new image
will be substituted for the one that is pulled
in.
14. Highlight Posts
• On top right hand corner of each post, you
will see a star.
• Click on this, and it will show the post
across the whole of your page – great if
you have large landscape images or if you
want to highlight a post.

16. Pin to Top
• If you want to keep a particular post at the
top of your page, click the pencil icon on
the top right hand corner of the post and
click “Pin to Top”.
• This will keep the post at the top of the
page for 7 days.
17. Schedule Posts
• When you add a post / status to your page, click
on the clock icon in the bottom left hand corner
of the post.
• This will allow you to choose the date and time
that your post goes live.
• To edit any scheduled posts, or to check what is
lined up, go to Admin Panel, Edit Page, Use
Activity Log

19. Milestones
• You can go back in time and post
information about your business’s past eg
date you started, awards you’ve won, new
products.
• Works best with a good photo.
• Click into the status update box, click
“Offer, Event +” Click “Milestone” and add
your details.
