The paper will discuss the answer to the following questions: When did Wal–Mart began, who were
the founders, and the original reason the company was formed. What products or services does the
company offer? Where does the company do business? Who are their competitors? Is there anything
unique about the company? Who is the company?s target market? Over the last 50 years the Wal–
Mart franchise has grown into one of the hugest retailer stores worldwide. The first Wal–Mart store
opened July 2, 1962 in Rogers, Arkansas. The store was founded by Sam Walton from Bentonville, a

Criticism Of A Cyborg Manifesto
In the latter half of the twentieth century society, culture and science evolved visions and capability
around the common prefix 'cyber'. It took on several virtual, computational, functional, scientific,
sexual and criminal connotations. In the 21st Century, many computational notions have been
replaced by 'e' to mean 'of computer' – however 'cyber', represented in music, words and films
emerging at this time, which communicate the content of culture at the time, not simply technology
– have not become ePeople, eMusic or eFilms, but remained postulated in cyberculture.
'A Cyborg Manifesto' is an analysis of women and advanced technology in a postmodern world.
Haraway uses various illustrations to focus on women's relation to the technologically ... Show more

Cyborgs are a new segment that will change the landscape of marketing. Say goodbye to the old
school "day in the digital life" persona. We're about to witness a complete shift in how advertisers
can reach these augmented consumers. This is when people will always have a "digital billboard" in
front of them or attached to them. This is when consumers will have so much information at their
fingertips that brands will have no choice but to be fully transparent about everything they do.
Of course, there's a certain institutional resistance to "cyborgism" as there is to most revolutionary
shifts in society. Technophobics are predicting a world of constant distraction, greater rebellion due
to information overload, cyber–hacking, and even WiFi radiation–based diseases because of
"electromagnetic sensitivity."
It's difficult to imagine technology as an extension of our bodies, of ourselves. We use technology,
we exercise all of a piece of a technology's resources, and then we dispose of it and replace it with a
new, and frequently more advanced,

Why Are Professional Athletes Overpaid
Are Professional Athletes Overpaid?
"I think a man with a helmet defending his country should make more money than a man with a
helmet defending a football" (Schrock). David Price, Toronto's new ace pitcher, signed a contract for
217 million dollars, in the 2015 season (Kennedy). The average salaries of jobs are much less
elaborate and troublesome, are considerably lower than what athletes are receiving. A young private
entering the army will receive around 34,008 dollars in his first year defending our country, and
150,000 dollars is how much a lawyer working an estimated 66 hours per week, and with 8 years of
education will make in one year ("How Many Hours A...") (Mlynek, Froats). Are these comparisons
fair? Athletes have amazing talents. Throwing a pitch one hundred miles per hour, making a shot
from halfcourt, and making a pass eighty yards down a football field is impressive, but, is it worth
millions of dollars just for entertaining spectators? Outrageous endorsements and sponsor contracts,
comparing salary, education, and time, and the idea of sports over lives, are just a few of the
numerous reasons why professional athletes are overpaid. For starters, not very many athletes can
deny that they never wanted to be the man or woman on the field or court making the big bucks and
playing the sport they love. How do they get paid? The money comes from three of the main
features of an athlete's high salary come from; endorsements, promotions, and sponsorship revenue.

The 1960's Essay
The 1960's The 1960's was a decade that forever changed the culture and society of America. The
1960's were widely known as the decade of peace and love when in reality, minorities were
struggling to gain freedom from segregation. The war to gain freedom for all minorites was a great
obstacle to overcome. On February 20, 1960 four black college freshmen from the Negro
Agricultural and Technical College in Greensboro, North Carolina quietly walked into a restaurant
and sat down at the lunch counter. They were protesting the Jim Crow custom that blacks could be
served while standing up but not while they were sitting at the lunch counter. The students quietly
sat there politely asking for service until closing time. The next ... Show more content on

He started a militant, all black group called the Black Panthers. On a bright Sunday in a ballroom in
Manhattan in full view of 400 blacks Malcolm was murdered. Three men casually walked down the
aisle; and from eight feet opened fire with sawed–off double barreled shotguns. Malcolm was killed
by a pair of point blank range shots to the chest. On March 12, 1965, U.S. Highway 80 was blocked
by sixty state troopers who stood in a wall three deep 400 yards past the Edmund Pettus Bridge,
which crosses the Alabama river. When black marchers came within 100 yards the troopers were
ordered to put on their gas masks. At twenty five yards the marchers stopped. Seconds later the
command "troopers forward" was barked. The troopers moved in a solid wall pushing back the front
marchers. At 75 yards the troopers were joined by posse men and deputies with tear gas canisters, in
seconds the road was swirling with clouds of smoke. The mounted men brought out bull whips and
began beating the marchers. Never in history had the American public responded with such fury.
Over 15,000 thousand people marched in five different cities across the country. On Sunday, March
21, 1965 a crowd of 3,400 marchers lead by two Nobel Peace Prize winners, Rev. Martin Luther
King Jr. and Ralph Bunche, departed from Selma on their four day march to Montgomery. They
were accompanied by 2,900 military police,

Scott Harrison Research Paper
Scott Harrison is the CEO and founder of charity water. His mission is to bring clean water to the
people of the world who do not have it. His organization brings machinery to drill wells and install
filters to people in need. People in theses extremely poor areas are now able to avoid massive health
hazards from drinking dirty water. Some of these include leaches, parasites, E. coli, hepatitis and
many others. Scott and his organization reach millions of people and provide them with an extreme
number of health benefits just from helping them obtain clean water. He has set out with his charity
to provide the eight hundred million people in the world with clean water. The organization has
already helped hundreds of thousands. Charity water uses a variety of ways to provide water. Some

Scotts experience completely relates to young people as a whole. Usually college students today do
not experience anything like the desperation of the people from poorest countries. Scott started out
as a party boy from the east coast, then decided to do something noble with his life. He ended up
doing the doable by starting a charity that uses existing equipment to provide for people in need.
The man and his organization fit my opinion of being an entrepreneur because of the impact they
have. It is an eye opener for me to understand the impact of what the Charity Water organization
does for people in Africa and abroad. If I had the opportunity and time to work for this organization,
I would because I know I would be making a large difference in people lives. Guy Kawasaki stated,"

The Titanic Of A Titanic
The Titanic crashed at 2:20 a.m. on April 15, 1912, the British ocean liner sinks into the North
Atlantic Ocean. The massive ship, which carried 2,200 passengers and crew, had struck an iceberg
two and half hours before sinking. The beginning which is the construction of the Titanic took 3
years with the help anywhere from three thousand to fifteen thousand men. The RMS Titanic took
sail April 11, 1912 from Southampton, England in the hopes of New York City. The Titanic 's
passengers were divided into three separate classes, determined not only by the price of their ticket
but by wealth and social class, those traveling in first class, the wealthiest passengers on board, were
prominent and those traveling in third class were among the poorest. The Titanic received several
warnings throughout its travel and ignored because the ship was assumed "unsinkable. "The Titanic
eventually hit an iceberg and it was warned prior to impact. The ship didn't have much time and
couldn't do it anything about impact. It was much too late to retaliate to the wreckage, the only thing
they could do was hope. Aboard the Titanic only seven hundred and six passengers survived that
fateful night of April 15, 1912. Even though the Titanic was the biggest ship at its time and thought
to be unsinkable, the worst thing possibly imagined happened and it is with that loss of the ship and
lives helpless people, we today learn that anything can happen at any moment of our lives.

Machines Overcoming Humans
As one would begin to think, about how much technology we humans use daily, they realize just
how much we are in need of it. As people, look back in time over the generations to where we no
technology to whereas now almost everything you come across you can find on the internet or on a
system. When reading "The Machine Stops," it shows the reader just how naïve people are to how
much technology they use. People are so use to just having it that they do not even think about how
much it consumes their lives. As I have learned, in the past couple of months just how much we
humans are as a cyborg, made me just as gullible as people are to how much technology consumes
our lives. When first thinking about the concept of us humans are as cybernetic organisms I was
skeptical about the concept and did not believe we were as cybernetic organisms. As looking to see
what a cybernetic organism is, I found they are a human who has certain biological developments
assisted or controlled by mechanical or electronic devices. When learning that was the meaning I
began to think us humans are as cybernetic organisms. My first reading on the thoughts of cyborg,
was "You Are Cyborg," written by Hari Kunzru, writing to Donna Haraway who does believe we
humans are cyborgs. As one reads "You Are Cyborg," who sees that Donna Haraway, is not saying
that we humans are physically cyborgs that are all mechanically made but that we are consumed by
technology making us cybernetic organisms. This concept

Why Did Andrew Jackson Act Like A King?
It is clear from the documents that Andrew Jackson acted like a king. One reason Andrew Jackson
acted like a king was because he gave jobs to his friends. Document six explained, that he appointed
his friend who was a criminal and the friend went on to steal over one million dollars from the U.S.
government. Instead of hiring a qualified person he hired his friend. From this mistake the
government lost over one million dollars. He acted like a king because instead of doing what's right
for the country he went with what he wanted. And he also didn't listen to others advice and went
with his own thoughts which was kingly. Mr.Moore taught us that he was warned ahead of time that
the person he hired was a criminal but refused to listen. He knew

Driving a rental vehicle is a good option if you're staying on one of the few islands with acceptable
roads, but you can also hire a taxi. You can walk around your choice resort or in Fiji's cities, but to
traverse a particular island, walking is not an efficient method. Many international travelers fly into
Nadi International Airport, NAN, or Nausori Airport, SUV, both of which can be found on the main
island of Viti Levu (Fiji Travel Guide). These are some fun facts about how you could get around
the island if you were to visit. Walking on foot would only probably be necessary if you plan to stay
close to your resort. Smaller airstrips and airports that accommodate smaller aircrafts are located on
Moala, Mana Island, Savusavu, Kadavu, Lakeba, Vanua Balavu, Labasa, and Taveuni. However, you
can fly to these islands from Viti Levu. Another fun fact is that these aircrafts run on a very relaxed
schedule, so prepare to wait (Fiji Travel Guide). Transportation is so important when it comes to
Fiji. Flying is not cheap, but it will take you places the fastest if you are in a hurry. This would also
be a great view. Buses are the way most locals get around, so if you want to enjoy an authentic
Fijian experience on a dime, this is the way to do so. Buses are usually noisy and full of laughter,
windows down, with rolled up canvas flaps in case of a rainstorm. Note that some bus companies,

The Cold War and its Impact Throughout the World Essay
Throughout the Cold War, Korean War, and Vietnam War the main problem was communism.
Although the United States and the Soviet Union were allies in World War Two, during the Cold
War the United States and the Soviet Union were known as enemies. The Soviet leaders bragged to
other nations that communism would "scrape apart" free–enterprise systems around the world. This
attitude angered the capitalists which led into the fifty year Cold War. The United States tried
creating many tactics and strategies to contain the "bleeding" of communism, but during the cold
war, communism spread faster then it could be restrained. The United States used the Marshall Plan
, the Trueman Doctrine, and the Berlin Airlift to help lead people to a ... Show more content on

The United States responded to the "Hawks", President Harry S. Trueman still wanted and continued
to keep communism "bottled up". In result the Marshall Plan was created (Doc. 2). World War Two
had left Europe in pieces, and the United States wanted to gain support from them. The plan was to
help Europe rebuild. Between 1948 and 1952, the United States provided more than twelve billion
dollars in aid. The United States helped reduce the spread of communism in Western Europe. The
Trueman Doctrine basically "bribed" Greece and Turkey to think again about communist
expansionism. The United States provided them with four hundred million dollars in military and
economic aid. The Berlin Airlift also stopped west Berlin from falling into the Soviets arms. The
United States and Britain provided helicopters and planes to drop food, fuel, and other supplies to
about two million Berliners everyday. Little children would call these planes "chocolate bombers".
Military forces fought all over the world throughout World War Two. Italy, Japan, and six other
nations joined Germany to form the axis powers. These axis powers used communism as there
policy. The Soviet Union also used communism. They had totalitarian governments. Peoples lives
were basically planned out in front of them. They made practically no choices for themselves,
children were "brainwashed" and everyday people lived in a "dictatorship".
People that lived during the Cold War had to deal

Ralph Liftshitz : Building A Fashion Empire With Ralph Lauren
Building a Fashion Empire with Ralph Lauren Ralph Lauren is a nuanced visionary; he went from
being dirt poor to a multi–billionaire. Ralph Lauren was an American dreamer. He states, "I went to
my boss, and I said, 'Look I'd like to design these ties because I think they could be new.' He said,
'The world isn't ready for Ralph Lauren.' I never forgot that because I thought that was a
compliment." Ralph took an idea, then made it his reality. He is such an important person in
American history, because he performs the idea of believing and achieving. Ralph Liftshitz was born
October 14th, 1939. He was born in the Bronx in New York City. His parents, Fraydl Kotlar and
Frank Liftshitz, were Ashkenazi Jewish working immigrants. Together they had four children, Ralph
was the youngest. Ralph attended DeWitt Clinton High school and Baruch College. As a teenager he
had many aspirations, some included being a baseball player, basketball player, a cowboy, an actor,
a dancer, and batman. He had a numerous amount of dreams so early on in his life, which molded
him into the successful man he is today. At the age of sixteen, Ralph and his brother had changed
their last names to Lauren. Ralph worked as a salesman by day and took business classes at night. In

Most Important Events In US History
First up in the number one spot is the American Revolution. I think that the American Revolution is
easily one of the most important events in U.S. history. The patriots (Americans) beat the greatest
military force at the time. The americans, under enormous amounts of pressure to win the war pulled
through and wrecked the British. This set the look that America was a force to be reckoned with.
Britain created some acts, the acts annoyed the Americans, so they fought for independence. I think
this event is number one because it was the birth of our beautiful country.
The Louisiana purchase is the event to take number 2 on the list. The Louisiana purchase was the
start of the western expansion. The western expansion was when Americans wanted to move
western of the original states. But that land was owned by the French. So the president at the time
(Thomas Jefferson) bought the land off of France for 78 million francs, or 15 million dollars. In my

Andrew Carnegie's The Gospel Of Wealth
The Gospel of Wealth
I've never been very keen on reading writing from the 1800's, so when I found out that I had to write
an essay on The Gospel of Wealth, to say the least I wasn't too thrilled. When I first started reading
The Gospel of Wealth, I didn't understand half of the things Andrew said, however after around the
17th time, it clicked. Andrew had said there are three different options where money can go after a
wealthy person dies. The first place Andrew said the money could go to is to the family of the
deceased. I agree on the points of this article about why money shouldn't be left to the family of the
recently dead.
"...In monarchial countries, the estates and the greatest portion of the wealth are left to the first ...

I agree with the points Andrew made in this argument, because instead of the money going to the
family of the wealthy, just so their family name can live on; or the government who give their
possessions to anyone, the money should go to the public. In this quote Andrew says that if a person
is willing to wait until he dies to make a change in the world, his wealth could be used to benefit the
general public. An example of this is when after a wealthy person dies, the public build schools,
hospitals, and even libraries with their money to benefit the public. An example of this is of a 92
year old gas station employee that passed away, when he passed away, he donated six million dollars
to a library and hospital. This man was able to wait until after he died to make a difference in the
people around him. Even though many people don't want to wait until they die to make a change,
the few that can, make big impacts in the community around them. Andrew said that this is where
the wealth's money should go to after they pass away, no to their families, so that their name can live
on for generations to come. Andrew believes that the extra money the rich have when they pass
away should go to the community, where they can build

Man Buns Thesis
Have you ever walked down the street and had an uneasy feeling as a stranger approach you.
Something unsettling and turning in your stomach you can't quite explain. It is likely you have faced
a problem millions of Americans face every day, men wearing buns in their hair. I know! I know!
This seems absurd, what's even more absurd is it has a name; they call these buns 'man buns'. Man
buns are a disgrace to society for many reasons. If Leonardo DiCaprio can't pull it off, neither can
you! The worst part about these man buns is the effect they have on society. Crying babies, scared
infants, and hurt feelings of our elders. Have these men no humanity? We do not need to live in a
cruel world where men do preposterous things with their hair; together we can destroy all man buns
I believe that the best way we can deal with this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just like the judicial system, the man bun punishments will differ between adults and children.
Children of course are very easily influenced. They may see an uncle or a cousin with a man bun
and they may think that is the right thing to do. I propose that for the first minor offense, they will
be required to do six months community service. They will have two hours a day sweeping the
floors in different barber shops. After the six months is up, they have to have six months' probation
in which they must receive mandatory counseling in an effort to get to the root of why the minor
thinks this behavior is acceptable. If a juvenile delinquent makes this mistake a second time, they
must work at a barber shop for the rest of their life. No matter how far in schooling they may have
gone, obviously they were not retaining any knowledge anyway by putting their hair in a knot. Third
time offenders should have learned their lesson by now, they will be tried as an adult. Depending on
how bad they made their man bun will determine their

Gamers And Their Opinions Matter
Gamers like to believe that their opinions matter. Whether it's ignorance, or simply blind sense of
entitlement, they all like to think that their collective voice means something, that their opinions
alone, will transform the landscape of interactive entertainment.
Over the past decade any person with access to the internet could experience first–hand, numerous
''uprisings'' within the confines of countless video–game related discussion boards, YouTube, and
plethora of social networks. Whether the vocal minority was rebelling against an alteration made by
a developer within a game, or even the game itself, they've more often than not, failed to achieve
their ''goal''. And their failure doesn't usually stem from the fact that in majority their arguments are
irrational, flawed to the core, and simply absurd, but from the fact that a message on the internet, no
matter how strong, will not result in any desirable outcome.
An essay on Reddit, whether supported by a handful of people or an entire army of internet warriors,
will never persuade a developer to divert its course and please the ''fans'' with the changes they
desire. And this is because developers, even the ones who put the fans leagues above their personal
wellbeing, have no final say in what makes the final cut. In fact, some developers are even unable to
choose which title they want to create, as they are just one step above the average consumer on the
ladder of the interactive entertainment hierarchy. Hierarchy,

Andrew Jacksonian Democracy Essay
The United States was and still is a developing nation with many different things that define what it
was, what it is, and what it will become. Wars, revolutions, politics, laws, and amendments are some
of the things that have had the biggest impact.
George Washington was the first and is one of the most famous presidents of the United States.
Being the first president, there were no guidelines or rules, so he was the one who set guidelines for
the future presidents. Washington decided to serve two, four–year terms which set that rule for the
rest of the presidents. He served as Commander–in–Chief of the Continental Army and won many
battles for the nation. He also made a Farewell Address where he said some important things for the

It created a justice system and pushed the thought of 'innocent until proven guilty.' Today, the
Supreme Court is the highest court; it can overrule city, county, and state courts. It is one of the three
government branches, and they deal with the highest–level justice cases as well as deciding if laws
are unconstitutional or not.
Jacksonian democracy was unlike any political party before it. Andrew Jackson pushed the idea of a
government for the common man. This party eventually became today's democratic party. This
Jacksonian Democracy came about in the 1828 election when Jackson was running against John
Adams for the presidential position. This 'common man' political philosophy gained the support of,
well, the common man, like farmers and workers alike.
The Civil war is one of the biggest conflicts in U.S. history. This also led to reconstruction after the
war was over. The civil war was between the North and South United States; it was mainly because
the north wanted to get rid of slavery and the south wanted to keep it. The north won the war, and
eventually, slavery got abolished. The reconstruction of the government and states was just as
difficult as the war. In the end, though, there were many changes and improvements to the nation

The Effects Of Music On Our Lives
Music is an extremely important factor in our lives. In today's society, walking into a store and
hearing a pop song that you know all the lyrics to is a very common occurrence. If I were on a
stranded island, I would bring the album Born To Die by Lana Del Rey. Some songs or albums
evoke certain types of emotions whether through the utilization of lyrics, instrumentations, or beats.
These emotions can elicit different types of moods as well; and we often come by songs can put us
in the mood to do different kinds of things like cooking, sleeping, studying, spending time with
friends, or anything else. I don't think that Born To Die is my absolute favorite album, but I do think
that it would keep me from going insane on this stranded island.
Lana Del Rey has a mesmerizing, haunting, and vivacious voice when she sings, so it is no surprise
that I would have no problem hearing her on repeat on a stranded island. Her voice is a very distinct
and hard to forget voice as, which makes Born To Die a much more emotional album. She is
considered to be an Indie Pop artist, as she has a very eccentric and eclectic feel to most of her
music. The album is filled with harps and symphonic elements like violins, violas and cellos. "Born
to Die" contains steady drums and electronic guitar beats. However, "Blue Jeans" incorporates
western guitars that give it a string instrument vibe. Many of the songs on Born To Die have to do
with boosting self–confidence and self–esteem, often targeting

Essay Against Mandatory Drug Testing
It would be easy to say that most Americans do not enjoy paying taxes. Americans pay taxes
because it is the law and there is some realizations that some of the tax dollars that are collected,
filters through to good programs that are needed by the American citizens. Americans like to drive
on roads without potholes. We want the police to respond when we dial 9–1–1. We want our
children to receive an education at school. However, the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
(TANF) program or welfare doesn't have the same support.
Data in 2015 from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) reports the number of
Americans receiving food stamps, or SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) was
forty–six (46) million with a price tag of $76.1 billion annually. That number is up from 2010 when

So why would anyone be against drug testing welfare recipients? The tax burden to support TANF is

There are many states that have a drug testing programs for their welfare programs: Arizona,
Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Maine, Michigan and Utah. Out of these,
Arizona, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Utah has spent, collectively,
nearly one million dollars on drug testing their recipients. That would be one million dollars that
could have been spent on our schools, roads, and police. In Missouri, the cost of testing was
$336,297 and only 48 out of 38,970 applicants had positive drug test. Within three years of this

Did you know that there are a hundred million pennies in one million dollars? It's true! A million
dollars is a lot of money, and I thank you for all of it. After many hours thinking and considering, I
have decided to invest six hundred thousand dollars towards the end of child labor. Children are
supposed to have a good childhood, go to school, learn, and have some fun, right? Children in the
child labor industries are working long, brutal hours, most in a sweatshop, where conditions are

This is supposed to be the land of the free, right? In January of 1910, a woman named Jane Addams
had written a document on why women should vote, for the Ladies Home Journal. Addams wrote
that "A woman's simplest duty is to keep her house clean and to feed her children properly.
(Document C)." Addams is referencing that women are the ones that cook and clean, which is true in
most cases. Addams also said that "Her basement will not be dry, her stairways will not be fireproof,
she cannot even secure untainted meat for her household (Document C)." which means she cannot
guarantee that her food and her house will be wholesome. If she were able to vote, she could fix this
stuff. Stairways could be fireproof, basements could be redone to be dryer, and she could pass the
law for untainted meat. Lastly, Addams gets to the point and says "If a women would fulfill her
traditional responsibility to her own children, then she must bring herself to use the ballot, American
women need this to preserve the home (Document C)." This is the most important part of this whole
article she wrote. This is saying that if women brought themselves to the ballot box to vote, it would
fulfill her responsibility to her children. It says that these women need to vote to preserve the home.
If women were able to vote, she would vote to make her home better for her

Analysis: Why Female Athletes Should Be Paid
There as been equality in professional sports for a long time. The men are getting paid way more
than the women athletes. Some would say that the men should be paid more because watching men
is exciting, and women's sports aren't fun to watch. Also, because in some sports the men generate
more attendance or revenue. Women have started to generate a bigger audience and more revenue in
some sports. Women are doing the same thing as men. They work just as hard and maybe harder
because they are trying to prove a point to everyone. Women should be paid the same as the men in
professional sports. The Women's U.S. Soccer Team made less than the Men's U.S. Soccer Team but

Persuasive Essay On Food Stamps
Billions, that's how much money is being spent every year for food stamps alone. Billions could be
spent on college or getting people out of abusive relationships or saving us from the crippling debt
that we as Americans are facing. Rather , we are buying unhealthy people pop , candy, and
cigarettes. Food stamp regulations should be stricter in order to prevent abuse of the system,
decrease the obesity rate, and encourage people to obtain legal employment so that they no longer
need food stamps ,despite the claim that some people "need" food stamps. Some people are raising
three babies ,trying to be full time students ,and work a full time job.Others are sixty eight and can't
work. I understand that some people do need the assistance , but where do we draw the line? What
kind of food are these people buying? Celery and chicken breasts or soda and freezer meals? " If
people are eligible , it's the government's fault", states Adam Sylvain. The Five Reasons or Food
Stamps says "Children are the biggest food stamps benefactor". So much of what people think is
going on, isn't or they just don't see the real issues. Let's get this whole conversation started with the
overlapping of programs. Based off of the information found on the USDA ( US Department of
Agriculture) ,people who receive food stamps make an average of six hundred and forty nine dollars
a month for a household of two adults a d two children. On top of that, some of the families are also
eligible for a program called WIC (Women with Infant Children), this program gives approximately
five hundred dollars a month. If a family qualified for both that accumulates to a total of one
thousand one hundred and forty nine dollars. If you can not feed a family off of that amount of
income, then you must be buying lobster and scallops . On top of that there are other programs to
provide financial assistance. As well as many towns having local food pantries that give out food for
free. The money that people are getting without earning could be going into many other places.
Other forms of abuse of the system include parents receiving money for children that no longer live
with them, my mother is a perfect example of this. The New York Times has an article

This whole federal case began by a lawsuit filled by a Mexican man with a valid tourist visa in
Maricopa County. After stopping the man, Joe Arpaio wrongfully gave the man a nine–hour
detention, the man sued him, claiming racial profiling from deputies, later involving all Latino
motorists in the county. After four years of court cases and hearings, a judge in Phoenix ordered him
to stop detaining anyone, even based on suspicion. "... States do not have the inherent authority to
enforce the civil provisions of federal immigration law," declared the judge.
Five years later, since December of 2011, two federal judges have found Joseph guilty of not
following and abiding to the injunction, still having misbehavior in police conduct. U.S. District
Judge G. Murray stated that he was saying false statements of his department, and that Arpaio and
his chief deputy , "have a history of obfuscation and subversion of this Court's orders that is as old
as this case and did not stop after they themselves became the subjects of civil contempt." The judge
understood based on his mannerisms that he had no desire to declare the truth or comply with
answering the asked questions. So the judge decided to charge Joe Arpaio of criminal contempt of
court, with a possible sentence of six moths in the county jail. Five years later, since December of

death penalty so it really isn?t cruel and unusual punishment. They have five main guidelines, here
they are. The commission of human rights urges states to restrict the number of death penalties
happening per year. Every year there should be a decreasing amount of executions. This would lead
to the abolishing of the death penalty. They urge all states that still hold the death penalty not to

try not to allow the executions of the mentally ill to happen (Richard International 3). There are five
ways to execute a person. The five are: lethal gas, lethal injection, electrocution, hanging, and firing
squad. The most commonly used are lethal injection and electrocution. Lethal injection is when the
people inject a shot into both of your arms. It takes about three minutes until the acid kills you.
Firing squad is when a group of people has guns and the shoot at the murderers chest. The electric
chair is when the chair gives off 2300 volts for about ten seconds. Then there is a low voltage of

also feels that these high salaries are good because it shows that revenue is going up (Rosen). Sports
salaries have sky rocketed in the past ten to fifteen years. Professional athletes have moved from six

That is a ton of money when one looks at it this way. If one includes the endorsements he gets,
which are from Nike, Gatorade, Hanes, Ballpark hot dogs, Jordan shoes and clothing, Rayovac

Warren Buffett The popular American capitalist, Warren Buffett, has set the standard for many
people by reaching the American Dream for most; from the moment young Warren Buffett was born
in Omaha, Nebraska, he had always targeted high and worked harder than anyone, to reach those
infinite goals. Many people have different perspectives on what the "American Dream" really
means. To some people, being rich, having fame, a happy family, or a healthy lifestyle is what
people consider being the American Dream. However, someone like Warren Buffett appears to
define the American Dream as having fun with making money rather then the rewarding results that

He felt as though he already knew a lot about business and that college would be a waste of time for
him. His theory was supported when he decided to attend the Wharton School of Finance. The
professors were stunned at his ingenious entrepreneurial mind. Buffett knew more then many of his
professors and transferred to the University of Nebraska for a better education. (Smith–4)
Unfortunately, that university was not that much better. He had achieved good grades in all of his
classes at the University of Nebraska and managed to administer 50 newspaper delivery boys
simultaneously. After he realized that the University of Nebraska was not helping him much, he
decided to drop out and transfer again. He first tried to transfer to Harvard but was not accepted.
That decision would later haunt the Harvard administration committee. Warren Buffett then applied
to Columbia University and was accepted in 1950. This was an experience that would forever
change his life, and direct him on the right road to reach the American Dream of Success. (Ryan–37)
One of the most successful and intelligent investors, along with Warren Buffett, was a professor at

  • 3. Criticism Of A Cyborg Manifesto In the latter half of the twentieth century society, culture and science evolved visions and capability around the common prefix 'cyber'. It took on several virtual, computational, functional, scientific, sexual and criminal connotations. In the 21st Century, many computational notions have been replaced by 'e' to mean 'of computer' – however 'cyber', represented in music, words and films emerging at this time, which communicate the content of culture at the time, not simply technology – have not become ePeople, eMusic or eFilms, but remained postulated in cyberculture. 'A Cyborg Manifesto' is an analysis of women and advanced technology in a postmodern world. Haraway uses various illustrations to focus on women's relation to the technologically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cyborgs are a new segment that will change the landscape of marketing. Say goodbye to the old school "day in the digital life" persona. We're about to witness a complete shift in how advertisers can reach these augmented consumers. This is when people will always have a "digital billboard" in front of them or attached to them. This is when consumers will have so much information at their fingertips that brands will have no choice but to be fully transparent about everything they do. Of course, there's a certain institutional resistance to "cyborgism" as there is to most revolutionary shifts in society. Technophobics are predicting a world of constant distraction, greater rebellion due to information overload, cyber–hacking, and even WiFi radiation–based diseases because of "electromagnetic sensitivity." It's difficult to imagine technology as an extension of our bodies, of ourselves. We use technology, we exercise all of a piece of a technology's resources, and then we dispose of it and replace it with a new, and frequently more advanced, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Why Are Professional Athletes Overpaid Are Professional Athletes Overpaid? "I think a man with a helmet defending his country should make more money than a man with a helmet defending a football" (Schrock). David Price, Toronto's new ace pitcher, signed a contract for 217 million dollars, in the 2015 season (Kennedy). The average salaries of jobs are much less elaborate and troublesome, are considerably lower than what athletes are receiving. A young private entering the army will receive around 34,008 dollars in his first year defending our country, and 150,000 dollars is how much a lawyer working an estimated 66 hours per week, and with 8 years of education will make in one year ("How Many Hours A...") (Mlynek, Froats). Are these comparisons fair? Athletes have amazing talents. Throwing a pitch one hundred miles per hour, making a shot from halfcourt, and making a pass eighty yards down a football field is impressive, but, is it worth millions of dollars just for entertaining spectators? Outrageous endorsements and sponsor contracts, comparing salary, education, and time, and the idea of sports over lives, are just a few of the numerous reasons why professional athletes are overpaid. For starters, not very many athletes can deny that they never wanted to be the man or woman on the field or court making the big bucks and playing the sport they love. How do they get paid? The money comes from three of the main features of an athlete's high salary come from; endorsements, promotions, and sponsorship revenue. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The 1960's Essay The 1960's The 1960's was a decade that forever changed the culture and society of America. The 1960's were widely known as the decade of peace and love when in reality, minorities were struggling to gain freedom from segregation. The war to gain freedom for all minorites was a great obstacle to overcome. On February 20, 1960 four black college freshmen from the Negro Agricultural and Technical College in Greensboro, North Carolina quietly walked into a restaurant and sat down at the lunch counter. They were protesting the Jim Crow custom that blacks could be served while standing up but not while they were sitting at the lunch counter. The students quietly sat there politely asking for service until closing time. The next ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He started a militant, all black group called the Black Panthers. On a bright Sunday in a ballroom in Manhattan in full view of 400 blacks Malcolm was murdered. Three men casually walked down the aisle; and from eight feet opened fire with sawed–off double barreled shotguns. Malcolm was killed by a pair of point blank range shots to the chest. On March 12, 1965, U.S. Highway 80 was blocked by sixty state troopers who stood in a wall three deep 400 yards past the Edmund Pettus Bridge, which crosses the Alabama river. When black marchers came within 100 yards the troopers were ordered to put on their gas masks. At twenty five yards the marchers stopped. Seconds later the command "troopers forward" was barked. The troopers moved in a solid wall pushing back the front marchers. At 75 yards the troopers were joined by posse men and deputies with tear gas canisters, in seconds the road was swirling with clouds of smoke. The mounted men brought out bull whips and began beating the marchers. Never in history had the American public responded with such fury. Over 15,000 thousand people marched in five different cities across the country. On Sunday, March 21, 1965 a crowd of 3,400 marchers lead by two Nobel Peace Prize winners, Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and Ralph Bunche, departed from Selma on their four day march to Montgomery. They were accompanied by 2,900 military police, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The massive ship, which carried 2,200 passengers and crew, had struck an iceberg two and half hours before sinking. The beginning which is the construction of the Titanic took 3 years with the help anywhere from three thousand to fifteen thousand men. The RMS Titanic took sail April 11, 1912 from Southampton, England in the hopes of New York City. The Titanic 's passengers were divided into three separate classes, determined not only by the price of their ticket but by wealth and social class, those traveling in first class, the wealthiest passengers on board, were prominent and those traveling in third class were among the poorest. The Titanic received several warnings throughout its travel and ignored because the ship was assumed "unsinkable. "The Titanic eventually hit an iceberg and it was warned prior to impact. The ship didn't have much time and couldn't do it anything about impact. It was much too late to retaliate to the wreckage, the only thing they could do was hope. Aboard the Titanic only seven hundred and six passengers survived that fateful night of April 15, 1912. Even though the Titanic was the biggest ship at its time and thought to be unsinkable, the worst thing possibly imagined happened and it is with that loss of the ship and lives helpless people, we today learn that anything can happen at any moment of our lives. As people, look back in time over the generations to where we no technology to whereas now almost everything you come across you can find on the internet or on a system. When reading "The Machine Stops," it shows the reader just how naïve people are to how much technology they use. People are so use to just having it that they do not even think about how much it consumes their lives. As I have learned, in the past couple of months just how much we humans are as a cyborg, made me just as gullible as people are to how much technology consumes our lives. When first thinking about the concept of us humans are as cybernetic organisms I was skeptical about the concept and did not believe we were as cybernetic organisms. As looking to see what a cybernetic organism is, I found they are a human who has certain biological developments assisted or controlled by mechanical or electronic devices. When learning that was the meaning I began to think us humans are as cybernetic organisms. My first reading on the thoughts of cyborg, was "You Are Cyborg," written by Hari Kunzru, writing to Donna Haraway who does believe we humans are cyborgs. As one reads "You Are Cyborg," who sees that Donna Haraway, is not saying that we humans are physically cyborgs that are all mechanically made but that we are consumed by technology making us cybernetic organisms. One reason Andrew Jackson acted like a king was because he gave jobs to his friends. Document six explained, that he appointed his friend who was a criminal and the friend went on to steal over one million dollars from the U.S. government. Instead of hiring a qualified person he hired his friend. From this mistake the government lost over one million dollars. He acted like a king because instead of doing what's right for the country he went with what he wanted. And he also didn't listen to others advice and went with his own thoughts which was kingly. Driving a rental vehicle is a good option if you're staying on one of the few islands with acceptable roads, but you can also hire a taxi. You can walk around your choice resort or in Fiji's cities, but to traverse a particular island, walking is not an efficient method. Many international travelers fly into Nadi International Airport, NAN, or Nausori Airport, SUV, both of which can be found on the main island of Viti Levu (Fiji Travel Guide). These are some fun facts about how you could get around the island if you were to visit. Walking on foot would only probably be necessary if you plan to stay close to your resort. Smaller airstrips and airports that accommodate smaller aircrafts are located on Moala, Mana Island, Savusavu, Kadavu, Lakeba, Vanua Balavu, Labasa, and Taveuni. However, you can fly to these islands from Viti Levu. Another fun fact is that these aircrafts run on a very relaxed schedule, so prepare to wait (Fiji Travel Guide). Transportation is so important when it comes to Fiji. Flying is not cheap, but it will take you places the fastest if you are in a hurry. This would also be a great view. Buses are the way most locals get around, so if you want to enjoy an authentic Fijian experience on a dime, this is the way to do so. Although the United States and the Soviet Union were allies in World War Two, during the Cold War the United States and the Soviet Union were known as enemies. The Soviet leaders bragged to other nations that communism would "scrape apart" free–enterprise systems around the world. This attitude angered the capitalists which led into the fifty year Cold War. The United States tried creating many tactics and strategies to contain the "bleeding" of communism, but during the cold war, communism spread faster then it could be restrained. The United States responded to the "Hawks", President Harry S. Trueman still wanted and continued to keep communism "bottled up". In result the Marshall Plan was created (Doc. 2). World War Two had left Europe in pieces, and the United States wanted to gain support from them. The plan was to help Europe rebuild. Between 1948 and 1952, the United States provided more than twelve billion dollars in aid. The United States helped reduce the spread of communism in Western Europe. The Trueman Doctrine basically "bribed" Greece and Turkey to think again about communist expansionism. The United States provided them with four hundred million dollars in military and economic aid. The Berlin Airlift also stopped west Berlin from falling into the Soviets arms. The United States and Britain provided helicopters and planes to drop food, fuel, and other supplies to about two million Berliners everyday. Little children would call these planes "chocolate bombers". Military forces fought all over the world throughout World War Two. Italy, Japan, and six other nations joined Germany to form the axis powers. These axis powers used communism as there policy. The Soviet Union also used communism. They had totalitarian governments. I think that the American Revolution is easily one of the most important events in U.S. history. The patriots (Americans) beat the greatest military force at the time. The americans, under enormous amounts of pressure to win the war pulled through and wrecked the British. This set the look that America was a force to be reckoned with. Britain created some acts, the acts annoyed the Americans, so they fought for independence. I think this event is number one because it was the birth of our beautiful country. The Louisiana purchase is the event to take number 2 on the list. The Louisiana purchase was the start of the western expansion. The western expansion was when Americans wanted to move western of the original states. But that land was owned by the French. Andrew Carnegie's The Gospel Of Wealth The Gospel of Wealth I've never been very keen on reading writing from the 1800's, so when I found out that I had to write an essay on The Gospel of Wealth, to say the least I wasn't too thrilled. When I first started reading The Gospel of Wealth, I didn't understand half of the things Andrew said, however after around the 17th time, it clicked. Andrew had said there are three different options where money can go after a wealthy person dies. The first place Andrew said the money could go to is to the family of the deceased. I agree with the points Andrew made in this argument, because instead of the money going to the family of the wealthy, just so their family name can live on; or the government who give their possessions to anyone, the money should go to the public. In this quote Andrew says that if a person is willing to wait until he dies to make a change in the world, his wealth could be used to benefit the general public. An example of this is when after a wealthy person dies, the public build schools, hospitals, and even libraries with their money to benefit the public. An example of this is of a 92 year old gas station employee that passed away, when he passed away, he donated six million dollars to a library and hospital. This man was able to wait until after he died to make a difference in the people around him. Even though many people don't want to wait until they die to make a change, the few that can, make big impacts in the community around them. It is likely you have faced a problem millions of Americans face every day, men wearing buns in their hair. I know! I know! This seems absurd, what's even more absurd is it has a name; they call these buns 'man buns'. Man buns are a disgrace to society for many reasons. If Leonardo DiCaprio can't pull it off, neither can you! The worst part about these man buns is the effect they have on society. Crying babies, scared infants, and hurt feelings of our elders. After the six months is up, they have to have six months' probation in which they must receive mandatory counseling in an effort to get to the root of why the minor thinks this behavior is acceptable. If a juvenile delinquent makes this mistake a second time, they must work at a barber shop for the rest of their life. Whether it's ignorance, or simply blind sense of entitlement, they all like to think that their collective voice means something, that their opinions alone, will transform the landscape of interactive entertainment. Over the past decade any person with access to the internet could experience first–hand, numerous ''uprisings'' within the confines of countless video–game related discussion boards, YouTube, and plethora of social networks. Whether the vocal minority was rebelling against an alteration made by a developer within a game, or even the game itself, they've more often than not, failed to achieve their ''goal''. And their failure doesn't usually stem from the fact that in majority their arguments are irrational, flawed to the core, and simply absurd, but from the fact that a message on the internet, no matter how strong, will not result in any desirable outcome. An essay on Reddit, whether supported by a handful of people or an entire army of internet warriors, will never persuade a developer to divert its course and please the ''fans'' with the changes they desire. And this is because developers, even the ones who put the fans leagues above their personal wellbeing, have no final say in what makes the final cut. In fact, some developers are even unable to choose which title they want to create, as they are just one step above the average consumer on the ladder of the interactive entertainment hierarchy. Billions could be spent on college or getting people out of abusive relationships or saving us from the crippling debt that we as Americans are facing. Rather , we are buying unhealthy people pop , candy, and cigarettes. Food stamp regulations should be stricter in order to prevent abuse of the system, decrease the obesity rate, and encourage people to obtain legal employment so that they no longer need food stamps ,despite the claim that some people "need" food stamps. Some people are raising three babies ,trying to be full time students ,and work a full time job.Others are sixty eight and can't work. I understand that some people do need the assistance , but where do we draw the line? What kind of food are these people buying? Celery and chicken breasts or soda and freezer meals? " If people are eligible , it's the government's fault", states Adam Sylvain. The Five Reasons or Food Stamps says "Children are the biggest food stamps benefactor". So much of what people think is going on, isn't or they just don't see the real issues. Let's get this whole conversation started with the overlapping of programs. Based off of the information found on the USDA ( US Department of Agriculture) ,people who receive food stamps make an average of six hundred and forty nine dollars a month for a household of two adults a d two children. On top of that, some of the families are also eligible for a program called WIC (Women with Infant Children), this program gives approximately five hundred dollars a month. If a family qualified for both that accumulates to a total of one thousand one hundred and forty nine dollars. If you can not feed a family off of that amount of income, then you must be buying lobster and scallops . On top of that there are other programs to provide financial assistance. As well as many towns having local food pantries that give out food for free. The money that people are getting without earning could be going into many other places. Being that all money in an NBA contract is fully guaranteed, and in an NFL contract it is only partially guaranteed. For example, Colin Kapernick signed 110 million dollar cotract extension over six years, which would seem bigger then Draymond Greens new 5 year contract of 85 million dollars. Except that Colin Kapernick is only guaranteed 61 million dollars, compared to Draymond Green who is guaranteed all 85 million dollars in his contract. The NBA's rookie salary is bigger then the NFL, With NBA starting salary being at 525,093 dollars and the NFL starting salary being at 435,000 dollars. The third controversial issue is the NFL's image problem. For example, the ray rice incident. "National Football League (NFL) commissioner Roger Goodell stood at a press conference on September 19th, 2014, in his first public comments addressing the Ray Rice fiasco enveloping the NFL. Rice was initially suspended for only two games after a video was released showing him dragging his fiancé out of an elevator, but when TMZ released a second video of Rice actually knocking his then– fiancée Janay Rice unconscious, backlash to the NFL's decision grew. After this second video was released, Goodell changed the initial suspension to an indefinite suspension." (Nadler, Sam. "Handling Controversy: NFL vs. NBA." Penn Undergraduate Law ... Women are treated far more poorly than the men in about every aspect of professional sports. Even though it was born out of the National Hockey League, the National Women's Hockey League is not only challenged, but compared to every aspect of the NHL, which includes: wages, rules and regulations, LGBT norms, and the overall questioning of why women and men cannot play together in one league. • 73. Essay on Escalating Professional Athlete Salaries Escalating Professional Athlete Salaries Works Cited Not Included In recent years, with the growing popularity of sports, athletes salaries have escalated like that of a superb stock equity. Athletes are taking full advantage of their position, causing the average man to wonder how high will they go. Some feel that athletes are greedy people who have lost care for the true meaning of their salary, the love of the game. Others feel that if a person is able to earn that kind of money, why shouldn't they? Increases in athlete salaries will bring up the question on whether athletes are worth the money by researching the NBA?s new collective bargaining agreement (before and after the approval), by observing the current salaries of ... "In a couple years, after Garnett develops into a superstar, people will be saying ?Boy, I?m glad we signed him [Garnett].?" Rosen thinks that it was undoubtedly necessary to have rookie salary caps. "If there weren?t those rookie caps, kids out of college, even high school like KG [Kevin Garnett], would be signing these multi–million dollar contracts right after the draft. There is no doubt in my mind that that was a good thing to do." He also feels that these high salaries are good because it shows that revenue is going up (Rosen). Sports salaries have sky rocketed in the past ten to fifteen years. Professional athletes have moved from six figure salaries to nine figure salaries in what seems like a snap of a finger. Michael Jordan, for example, got paid about $35 million a year not counting endorsements. Let?s put that in easier terms: – $439,000 a game – $12,500 a minute played, assuming he plays about 35 minutes per game – $209 a second played – almost $40,000 a jumpshot, assuming he makes 11 jumpshots per game That is a ton of money when one looks at it this way. If one includes the endorsements he gets, which are from Nike, Gatorade, Hanes, Ballpark hot dogs, Jordan shoes and clothing, Rayovac Batteries, and Michael Jordan cologne, he makes about one million dollars per game. The American Dream of Warren Buffett Georgia Agrapidis English 3 CPE Period–1 Research Paper Warren Buffett The popular American capitalist, Warren Buffett, has set the standard for many people by reaching the American Dream for most; from the moment young Warren Buffett was born in Omaha, Nebraska, he had always targeted high and worked harder than anyone, to reach those infinite goals. Many people have different perspectives on what the "American Dream" really means. To some people, being rich, having fame, a happy family, or a healthy lifestyle is what people consider being the American Dream. However, someone like Warren Buffett appears to define the American Dream as having fun with making money rather then the rewarding results that comes from it. Warren Buffett ... His theory was supported when he decided to attend the Wharton School of Finance. The professors were stunned at his ingenious entrepreneurial mind. Buffett knew more then many of his professors and transferred to the University of Nebraska for a better education. (Smith–4) Unfortunately, that university was not that much better. He had achieved good grades in all of his classes at the University of Nebraska and managed to administer 50 newspaper delivery boys simultaneously. After he realized that the University of Nebraska was not helping him much, he decided to drop out and transfer again. He first tried to transfer to Harvard but was not accepted. That decision would later haunt the Harvard administration committee. Warren Buffett then applied to Columbia University and was accepted in 1950. This was an experience that would forever change his life, and direct him on the right road to reach the American Dream of Success. (Ryan–37) One of the most successful and intelligent investors, along with Warren Buffett, was a professor at Columbia named Ben Graham. He viewed the stock market in ways that nobody would ever imagine. Through bear markets and bull markets, no matter what the circumstances were, Ben Graham was making money.
