In the movie “You’re Next”, both
gore and violence are used to
relate to this target audience.
This kind of gore relates to the
male audience as creates a high
fear factor, stereotypically
enjoyed by males.
This also shows the violence in
the film, represented by the
blood.This again makes it more
relatable to the male audience
and younger viewers.
This is from “the woman in black 2: angel of
death” which is one of the only modern day
successful gothic horrors. The cross in the background clearly shows how
religious imagery is still very influential in
gothic horrors.This causes older audiences to
relate to the situations more due to the
younger generation being less religious.
This is from “the conjuring” which was the most successful
demon and witch film of 2013
In this scene the mother is possessed by a demon and is
floating in mid-air.This shows how special effects are used to
increase tension and creates a high fear factor.This relates
more to younger males as these are all stereotypically what
young males look for in horror films

People who enjoy demon and witch films the
most are 14-25 year old males.
People who enjoy demon and witch films the least
are 45-60 year old males/females.
This is because younger males look for gore and
action in their horror films with high intensity.We
know that this age range of males enjoy this genre
the most due to having 8 out of the 14 who voted
yes in our questionnaire.
This is because the high intensity and amount of
gore becomes too much for elder people to handle,
which is what comes with demon and witch films.
The effects and lack of focus on the story line means
elder people lose interest and just become
disgusted by the film rather than scared.
