2. The opening sequence is based in North
London, Enfield.
It should attract a working middle class as it
is based in a modern area where it disturbs
people’s daily routine as a girl is getting
chased by something, which is death.
3. I believe that my film will attract the classes
from B-E as it seems to be set in a location
that they would live in and go through
problems, such as crime and theft often.
However the plot in this opening would be
seen as unrealistic as death is trying to chase
a teenage girl when she is meant to be dead.
The camera works that we use to convey
death is quite scary and I highly doubt that
this situation would ever happen in modern
life.
4. The Mise-en-scene that is used in this makes it
seem even more unrealistic especially when the
glass smashes with strange smoke and
lightening appears.
On the other hand these visual effects with the
smoke, the shadow, lightening and glass
smashing enhances the audiences attraction
between the ages 15 onwards.
5. We aim to attract our target audience
globally and internationally addressing all
races, gender, regions, countries there are no
particular audiences we are trying to attract.
In order for our audience to attract our
audience Twentieth Century Fox is helping to
distribute our film globally so my partner
Fortune and I are able to draw in a bigger
audience and have universal viewers.
6. The age group that I am trying to attract is from
the ages 15 onwards as the teenage society is
where the word of mouth mostly comes from.
Meaning that the specific age group is where
most reviews will come from and be spread
around.
Therefore our main priority is them as we would
have to centre their interests and dislikes.
Majority of feedback comes from the younger
generation as they can comment and give
feedback on social networks, via Facebook,
Twitter, and other social sites. Including texting,
calling, what’s app and other mobile phone apps.
7. We must use various techniques to attract our
target audience by using different types of
technology and effects to draw them in.
The use of visual effects should attract our
audience to create tension and suspense during
the beginning. As the majority of teenagers
enjoy the suspense of horrors/thrillers.
This is because if the beginning starts off well
then the audience will continue to be interested
throughout the whole film, which is why we have
to ensure our opening is a success.
8. Our media product doesn’t really appeal to
either male or female its addressed to both sex.
As the opening will draw both genders to watch
it as they would enjoy the atmosphere.
However I believe that mainly males would want
to watch it as they can handle fear unlike the
majority of girls. Only a minority of girls can
handle the thrill of it and won’t get too scared.
On the other hand statistics show that the
number of females that watch thrillers nowadays
have increased and more males enjoy watching
action films.
9. In addition as the main protagonist is a
female an increase of the amount of females
will attend to watch it. Considering that in a
majority of films the main protagonist is
always a man, it makes a good change to see
a female in a high place.
However the female protagonist can be seen
as powerless and vulnerable as she is being
chased. This can be seen as a stereotype for
being a female protagonist as females are
always in need of protection and rescuing.
10. In the opening sequence you don’t see any
racial stereotypes therefore there is no
representation of racial conflict or
predominantly white or black area. The
location is just seen as a modern area in
Enfield.
There is no racial abuse so no viewers will be
lost because of this topic. Considering that
the female protagonist is mixed ethnicity and
the other character which is a dark shadow
representing death can’t be seen as offensive
towards any race.
