The Christian Classic, Life Together By Dietrich Bonhoeffer
The Christian classic, Life Together, by Dietrich Bonhoeffer, is a book where he outlines his
experiences as a Christian pastor and theologian training young pastors in Finkenwalde Seminary
and of the Brothers House. Bonhoeffer also details the essential principles needed for Christian
fellowship, gleaned in the backdrop of the pre–war German underground. Dietrich treatise helps
answer questions about community in Christian life; he believed that God bestows brotherhood
upon us for a reason especially under illegality. His Christian message is clear: "Without Christ
there is discord between God and man and between man and man.... Christ opened up the way to
God and to our brother." (23) The content of his work is mostly based on daily spiritual devotions,
love and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this short nonfiction book, he accounts what occurred during 1935 to 1945 along with its
historical context of living in Nazi Germany during this time. In this narrative, he begins by with
providing praise to Christian community as well as extolling the grace of God for giving Christians
the opportunity to live in fellowship with one another. "Therefore, let him who until now has had the
privilege of living a common Christian life with other Christians praise God's grace from the bottom
of his heart. Let him thank God on bended knees and declare: it is grace, nothing but grace, that we
are allowed to live in community with Christian brethren."(20) He emphasizes the differences in
community as either divine reality or human ideal. According to Bonhoeffer the church is not only a
visionary outcome of desire, nor should humans claim to be fully responsible for the failures.
Instead the author asserts that Jesus Christ is the one who solely created the church, therefore
Christian's job being solely to partake in the church with thankful and open hearts and seeking

Life As A Christian Versus Buddhism
Life as a Christian versus Buddhism
As a Christian you have taken on the likeness of Jesus Christ in the flesh. You are to walk and talk
as he did when he walked the earth. But, as a Buddhist, you take on the likeness of a child that did
not want to be a "god." I will talk about the differences between Christianity and Buddhism and then
give information on the matters. But, first we will have to understand the formation and beginnings
of the two religions.
Buddhism, which has been around for over 2500 years, was started because of a little boy who was
chosen by his father after birth to be significant because of certain markings or signs on the little
baby's body. Growing up, this boy was sheltered from all negativity and given a life where he was
never allowed to see or experience anything negative or bad. His dad felt that he would have so
much compassion for people and want to save them from hurt if he saw the bad things in the world.
And, his dad wanted him to become an Emperor and rule the people, not feel sorry for them and try
to save them from harm. The very thing that his dad thought turned out to be true for Siddhartha
Gautama. Siddhartha snuck away to experience the real world and once exposed, decided he wanted
to give up his life of luxury and live a simple life while finding the answers he was looking for.
After he grew up, he left his wife, son and comfortable home and began his journey as a monk. He
developed self–control, mastered meditation,

The Christian Life
The Christian life is a discussion that the details of its description such as the definition, ground and
power are not easy to explain. The scriptures paint a vast web of each author's ideals on what the
Christian life should be. For example, in I Corinthians 6: 1–8 we see Paul referring to the different
standards that must prevail in the Christian community and then in Ephesians we see the distinction
of Christians from the nations. (Hessert, 16) Every Christian has this picture of what living the
Christian life should be. Not every picture is the same but certain concepts are universal. The golden
rule 'do unto others, as you have done unto you' is a prime example. Every sect of Christianity is
different yet the golden rule stands throughout all religion sects. The Christian life is complex
because there are so many factors that play into it. The most vital parts of the life are to understand
that we belong to God and we must follow the guidelines that he has set forth and to follow the path
of progress even in the times that it becomes unclear.
The Christian life is filled with joy, complexity and peace that people can find, even in their darkest
of times. Through faith many feel that "we are not our own masters, but belong to God." (Calvin, 1)
The ideals are very straight forward in the sense that we are to provide our bodies to God as a living
sacrifice and live by him. We must not conform to the fashion of the world, but be transformed by
the renewal of our minds, so

Obedience Is the Bottom Line of Christian Life
Obedience to authority is everywhere. Whether it is a student obeying the teacher, citizens following
the laws or a child obeying his or her parents, there will always be a scenario of obedience to
authority. There are different levels of obedience ranging from a group of people following their
leader, such as on a sports team, to extreme religious cults. The word obedience come from the
Latin word Obaudrie, which means to listen well. Obedience is defined as compliance to the plan;
conformity to the pattern; observance of the rules; loyalty to the standards and submission to
another's will. Obedience is carrying out the given direction cheerfully and quickly. Obedience is the
bottom line of the Christian life yet it plays a vital role in the formation of character of a person.
Obedience is part of the foundation of society. Without obedience, nothing would exist but chaos
and confusion. Human individuality is often undermined by the blind obedience humans feel
towards those in position of power. In order for humans to maintain their individuality and a stable
society, a balance between obedience and independence must be found. To obey means doing what
God says in the timing and manner that He says to do it. We must then know what His instructions
are. We cannot comply with something we do not understand. The Holy Spirit assists us in relating
God's commands to our situation and helps us determine the wise choice. The true meaning of
obedience has changed over the course of

The Ten Facets Of The Christian Life
The text has presented the twelve facets of the Christian life (Boa, 2001). The idea of a multi–
faceted gem to compartmentalize different components of faith is helpful when looking to the
future. Each part is unique but holds together the entirety. I can see how my faith is the entire "gem"
and I can work on each facet to complete and complement my whole being. My spiritual life,
current schooling, future working life, and married life are interconnected but can be individually
enhanced at different times.
Spiritual Life Christian faith is a defining aspect or facet of my identity. I have grown up in a family
with many levels of evangelism. The best fit for me is Lifestyle Evangelism. I set myself apart from
the world through my actions, vocabulary, entertainment choices and general comportment. The
Timm's lectures have cemented the idea that I the beloved of God and as such should carry myself
with confidence and security. The excluded middle discussion in the Timm's lectures also provides
insight of why we need the Holy Spirit when facing the conflicts and challenges of life, especially if
they are demonic in nature. Dependence on the Holy Spirit for guidance is becoming a higher
priority as I am becoming more aware through this class of the availability and purpose provided by
scripture. Spreading the love of God and the gift of Jesus can be done quietly or loudly, I believe I
will continue to be quiet, but have placed myself as willing to follow the nudging of the

Golden Booklet Of The True Christian Life Summary
Should a Believer's Life Evidence Growth?
John Calvin makes the assertion throughout his Golden Booklet of the True Christian Life that a
believer's life should show growth and spiritual progress. According to the Christian teachings,
Calvin's assertions are correct. Calvin argues that because Christians believe that their lives belong
to the Lord, they are to follow His plan for their lives, strive to better the lives of others, and show
appreciation for God's blessings. The central idea that Calvin bases most of his claims on in his
booklet is the idea that Christians should "walk in the beauty of God's law", so that the claims of
belief and trust in God that Christians make are exhibited outwardly in the way that they live their
lives (15). In theory, if believers do conduct their lives in an effort to ... Show more content on

He is very clear that this includes both friend and foe (37). This is in itself an embodiment of the
first argument that people should live in an effort to fulfill God's plan. If a person strives to
encourage and help their fellow humans, Calvin would argue that this is the very will of God. The
outcome of their good intentions should display relational growth in both their community and their
personal lives. By showing good will toward others, humans are displaying their appreciation for
God's creation, for He himself created humans. Calvin even goes so far as to say that Christians
should do more than just be nice to people; he says that they should sympathize with them, and so
their best to offer assistance or condolence in times of hardship (39). Calvin borrows Paul's example
of the body in reference to the church, saying that each part of the body depends on the others in
order to run smoothly and effectively (40). By doing their best to improve the lives of those around
them, Christians encourage growth both in the church and in their own

The Golden Booklet Of The True Christian Life
God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, therefore a predetermined path of righteousness
or condemnation is contradictory to the core values of Christianity, as it eliminates the need for the
will to be saved by Christ. This shows that God does not control our actions, in hopes that we live in
accordance to him.
In The Golden Booklet of the True Christian Life, author John Calvin explains that our actions do
affect our relationship with God. He says, "It is God's own glory that he cannot have anything to do
with iniquity and uncleanness," (Calvin, 17). God would not be able to be with us if we lived a
complete life of inconsideration to him that would be an uncleanly life. A Christian is called to be as
much like Jesus as they possibly can. Jesus never made compromises, he didn't ever say I am the
son of God so I can live how I want. For "it is unlawful for you to make a compromise with God: to
try to fulfill part of your duties and to omit others at your own pleasure," (Calvin, 22). If Jesus had
made compromises he would probably not have dies for the sins of human kind. ... Show more

This world in which all human kind lives in is distorted and filled with sin but we are called to
choose to not give in to the sin, to not conform to the work around us and prove our faith is stronger
than our sinful desires. God does not control what we choose to do, he may put situations in ones
lives that will test ones faith but the person themselves is in control of their fate and what will come
from the challenge that lies ahead. Calvin states, "The Lord has still another reason for afflicting his
children: to try their patience and to teach them obedience," (Calvin, 52). God would not try a
persons patience or teach them obedience if God knew exactly what would happen, because it is in
those trials that he does not know what will

Antony Flew on Christian Life
People always tend to give high attention to individuals who turned their backs on their once held
beliefs to argue that (Christian) faith is unreasonable and without real substance. Rationality seems
to be the source of every argument for the non–existence of God, and is often understood as
inherently opposing to faith. However, the story of Antony Flew is one that atheists can and should
not discard, as he experienced something very different. Born into a Christian family Flew grew up
in the church and was exposed to Christian beliefs and customs. He never really found a personal
connection to Christianity and converted to Atheism, but after decades of arguing the non–existence
of God, he came to the conclusion that there is no other possibility than the validity of the existence
of God. This process is documented in There is a God. Antony Flew is considered one of the, some
might argue the most important, proponents of atheism in the 20th century and his works made
major contributions to the argumentation of atheism.
The author begins his personal story, some might call it testimony, with explaining the process of
becoming an atheist in the first place, before rejecting it after all these years. Born as the son of a
Methodist minister and preacher, Flew went to a Christian school, and was, as he calls himself, a
'committed and conscientious, if unenthusiastic, Christian' (p.10). He did not feel a personal
connection to God and was not interested in any kind of worship.

Comparison Essay: Afterlife Vs. Christian Book Of Life
Due to its obscure nature, the concept of life after death has spawned a myriad of debates and
assumptions, but some of the most well–known afterlife theories belong to the Christians and the
Ancient Egyptians. It is common for people to compare the Christian Book of Life to the Egyptians'
weighing of the heart ceremony, Jesus to Horus or Osiris, and the 10 Commandments to the Book of
the Dead. In addition, the Ancient Egyptians began developing their religion when Egypt was
formed at about 3,400 BC, while Christianity was formed in the first century AD. This long
timespan between the two beliefs and their stark similarities have made many believe that the
Christians copied the Egyptians. Though the Christians and Ancient Egyptians still have ... Show

In Christianity's case, maintaining the purity of God's kingdom meant that "impure" ones are sent to
Hell. If one does not find his/her name in the Book of Life, then he/she is thrown into the lake of
fire and thus suffers a second death. A form of judgement before being allowed entry into the
afterlife is also present in Ancient Egypt. In the New Kingdom, it was believed that having a heart
heavier than the Maat feather would result in getting the heart devoured by a monster called Ammit,
which leads to a second death. Another version again exists in The Adventures of Setna and Si–
Osire, where instead of weighing the heart, the gods weigh one's misdeeds and good deeds. If one's
misdeeds outweigh the good deeds, he/she "will be given to the Devourer belonging to the Lord of
the West, while his ba–spirit and corpse are destroyed, nor does she let him breathe ever again."
Nevertheless, in this version of judgement, the person also suffers a second death as his/her ba–
spirit, the entity that traverses into the heavens to be with the gods, is

have often wondered throughout my life, as my literature and film interests grew and expanded,
where my lines should be drawn. How far is too far, and where do excursions into more adult fiction
turn from innocent interest into sin? I know that I have fairly strict lines on when sexual content or
humor becomes inappropriate, and this is assisted by my lake of interest in the majority of genres
that typically showcase such things. Additionally, my interest in genres that showcase gratuitous
violence or cursing is also fairly minimal. However, I have always loved works of fantasy,
mythology, and even supernatural, which has, on occasion, upset my grandparents. They would

person and their circumstances, I can't imagine that there shouldn't be boundaries that a Christian
puts in place for themselves. Boundaries set up by the culture or time period are so changeable.
When my grandparents were young the church frowned upon playing cards, dancing, attending the
movies, and women wearing pants. Now, although remnants of those beliefs remain, much of the
Christian community in America has vastly different opinions. If moral standards have changed in
such things, how have they changed in relation to the literature and media we consume? What is and

Compare And Contrast The Christian View Of Life After Death
The Christian and Hindu views of life after death vary, but are also similar in some senses. The
Christian view is that life after death is reuniting with God in Heaven, and Jesus is the provider of
this path through his death and ultimate resurrection. The Hindu people view life after death in
terms of reincarnation, and that a persons' soul, or atman, is reborn over and over again until it
reaches moksha, or the release from the cycle of rebirth, and can finally be at peace. Through a
Christian lens, life after death is when a disembodied soul leaves Earth and travels to heaven, or
possibly hell. Christians believe that once the soul is in heaven, it is once again a person fully alive
with God in his kingdom. In other words, people die physically, but are alive in spirit with God.
There is a constant hope for heaven, and a fear of hell when Christians contemplate their afterlife.
When they pass away in the physical world, there is a Judgement Day in heaven. This day is when
God judges the peoples' sins and repentance, and acts accordingly. The people could either be
condemned to hell, or granted entrance into heaven on this day. Since Jesus died for all human sin,
and conquered death, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One similarity is that Hindu and Christian people achieve happiness and delight after a certain point.
Christians achieve this when they get to heaven, and Hindu people achieve this when they finally
reach moksha. Another similarity between the two is that the spirit of someone is the focal point for
the afterlife. Christians focus on the spirit being reborn, and Hindu people focus on the spirit
moving from body to body. The last major similarity is that both of the religions incorporate some
sort of judgement into the afterlife. Christians have a judgement day, while Hindus have a
judgement of karma and sinful actions for each

Christian Doctrine And Practice Of Life And Culture
Christian doctrine and practices are applicable in every aspect of life and culture. Christ's teachings
are just as relevant in the business world as they are in our own personal lives. Businesses can honor
God by observing Christian principles in how they operate. As seen throughout this course, this can
be translated into everything from internal operations to budget management to controlling costs.
"The Hebrew Bible, especially the Pentateuch (Torah), is replete with precepts that deal with
business ethics, and can be used as a starting point for those interested in developing higher moral
standards in business." (Friedman and Giladi, 2002) The Bible depicts the use of accounting
procedures internally as a way to keep businesses honest their worth. Businesses use financial
records, such as Cash Flow, to track transactions made to the government, employees and vendors.
Since humans were born to sin, accounting practices are used to keep the owners honest and reduce
fraud. "No accounts were kept with the men to whom the money was paid over to be spent on
workmen since they were honest in their dealings" (2 Kings 12:16). According to the Bible, when
man became greedy and dishonest, the use of records helped to track the exchange of cash or
supplies and protect both parties involved in the business transaction. Along with Christian values,
established ethics policies, and effective supervision practices, the risk of fraud can be greatly
decreased.

The first thing that I think makes Jayber a great person is that he respected Mattie's marriage. He

agape love. Though she does not love him, Jayber still loves her; This is just like how God loves all

The Most Formative Experience Of My Christian Life
Carmanie Bhatti's Written Response to 310.2 a–d

The Board of Ordained Ministry, Northern Illinois Conference of the UMC
i. The Most Formative Experience of My Christian Life:
I grew up in Pakistan with a diverse culture around me. Before moving to the U.S., the city I grew
up in was a blend of people who lived there because of their jobs, education and business purposes.
I learned that poverty, marginalization and violence, neither had a religion nor selects people of a
specific faith to attack them. This made me devote myself to the church and its programs to serve all
children of God spreading the good news of Jesus Christ and fighting for social justice against the
systemic evil in the world.
At church, in addition to my participation in the worship services, I volunteered at our church's soup
kitchen, medical camps and elementary school for underprivileged children. These experiences
opened my eyes to the deprivation of love and care in the world and a dire need of God's grace for
people at large so they could receive forgiveness, healing and restoration in their lives.
My spiritual formation took a new turn when in 2013 my parents' house was burned down in an
arson. At that time, I was living with my parents. Since, the house was not insured, our local church
and our acquaintances in the neighborhood helped us financially so we could rebuild our house,

The Trials Of A Christian 's Life
"6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all
kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith–of greater worth
than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire–may result in praise, glory and honor when
Jesus Christ is revealed." As the end of my first semester in college comes to a close I feel blessed
that I am able to write about the purpose of trials in a Christian's life. Within this paper I hope to
enlighten those who question the trials and difficulties that God gives us to face. By developing
understanding that the reason for trials are to build up and test your faith, to help you mature as a
Christian, as well as give new insight to something beyond your current circumstance.
Testing of Faith God gives us trials that knock us down to the point that we feel hopeless and the
obstacle is far too difficult to overcome. His purpose is not to turn us away from Him, but instead
He wants us to seek comfort and strength in Him alone. Strong not only in the Christian faith, but
also in Jewish culture, it is stressed that the endurance of testings from God should be viewed as a
blessing, and to find joy in them as they express faith in God's sovereignty. Trials are not meant to
create bitterness or anger in a person's heart. When God gives us trials he has a purpose in mind that
pertains only to us.

Christian Call To Transformed Life
Consider how the call to be a Christian lead to a transformed life and informs your perception of the
other two callings (vocational and immediate). In considering how the call to be a Christian lead to a
transformed life imparts knowledge, understanding which give you discernment for the other two
callings because it is all connected as a whole. Answering the first call of being born again is the
biggest transformation of humanity. Being transformed is much more than changing behaviors or
turning over a new leaf, it is all about renewing your mind to fulfill God's call and purpose in life.
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing
you may discern what the will of God is, what is good and acceptable and perfect" (Romans 12:2
(English Standard Version). When I received Christ into my life, my heart (spirit) became one with
God, actually transpired; therefore, was a real spiritual transformation from spiritual death to life.
Our life becomes one with God. "But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him" 1

Christian Life Coaching Analysis
I like how Dr. Gary Collins, in his book "Christian Coaching: Helping Others Turn Potential into
Reality" (Collins, 2002), calls attention to the 1500's description of the word coach as a horse–
drawn vehicle that was used to get you to where you wanted to go. You can use that definition as
one way to define the word coach in the coaching terms. In the presentation "Coaching: The new
helping relationship", Dr. Catherine Hart Weber defines coaching as an ongoing intimate transparent
relationship for those making important changes in life. The big difference between coaching and all
the of the others, is that as a coach you aren't solving there problems or helping them heal from the
past, you are the motivation to think further into next steps of what they want to accomplish. This
can by in many different aspects of the clients life. I would say that counseling, mentoring, and
discipleship are all about relationship, but coaching, even though there is a relationship, it is results
driven. Coaching is focused on the thing that the coachee wants to ... Show more content on

The biblical worldview that a Christian coach should have would change the way they would
approach a situation. It is no longer just about results or being the best you, a Christian coach should
add in the biblical promises that scripture offers about those who believe in Jesus. I love that in the
presentation "Christian Coaching: Scriptural and Spiritual Foundations," the say that all coaching
should be be rooted in scripture. That way no matter what happens years from then the client can
come back to the promise found in scripture and relive the moment. Christian Coaching is based on
the fact that us as Christians have a purpose and a giftedness that God has blessed us with. As we
coach it should be our goal to make sure our clients understand this and begin their journey to really
figuring out what their kingdom impact is going to

My Life As A Christian Essay
In my personal life as a Christian it has not been easy at all in my forty–three years on the planet
earth, I had struggle with issues dealing with a mental illness of bipolar disorder, which had and
some days even today, though struggle can be seen and does has some affected both my mental state
of mind but also parts of my life as well. But with dealing with the symptoms, throughout my life I
had face the demon in the room so to say many times, and faced him down with the help of Christ.
There were someday were I just wanted to give up like my younger brother Luke did in 2013 when
he left behind four young sons when he committed suicide, and there has been days were I felt I
should just end it all so the pain inside would stop. But I could never do that, and I could never get
into the drugs or alcohol like he did growing up. Even though I had gotten into other things that had
gotten into relationships or dabbled into things that I should of never gotten into, and even I tried to
walk away from my faith in Christ because I had felt looked down upon or judged for no reason, or
saw the hypocrisy in those local fellowships that I was attending. And I also felt abandon when I
needed my fellow Christian brothers and sisters there to be next to me to help get through the dark
times in my life. In my past, before two years ago, I had difficult times taking care of myself even
though I read many books on spiritual disciplines both within the Christian tradition as well as

Early Christian Life
The Church was much different in the early days. There was strict discipline, an awareness of what
it meant to be Christian and many other things which made the Church beautiful. Although the
structure and teachings of the Church have remained the same, many attractive characteristics have
been lost.. The Christian religion was not simply a domination that one belonged to. It was a
lifestyle that one lived. It was a reason to live and it was a reason to die. Many, knowing that they
would be rewarded after death, suffered horrible tortures and even death for their faith. The early
Church had the joy of a young child. Like young children, the people of the Church proclaimed the
good news to all. They told everyone that would hear them in places of the public such as in forums.
Many, being made aware of the gospel and being confronted with people who had been living the
life of a Christian, had a change of heart and were converted. All those who belonged to the Church
knew the importance of helping one another reach their desired end, that is, Heaven. They would
encourage each other and rejoice with another when they overcame some battle. It was especially

Preparation for certain events, such as baptism, required the act of fasting, Sins required heavy
penances for reparation, and people were required to help those in need. One might believe that
these rules were too strict. To understand the necessity for strict regulations a person may look at the
example of a child. Often when a household has lax rules, the children become negligent of their
duties and lose the importance of doing things such as doing the laundry. Again, when the rules are
strict, one often sees the opposite happen. The children seem careless of their duties at the same time
they know the consequences of not doing certain chores around the house. In other words, order
seems more vulnerable when discipline is not

The Wild Life Of Christian The Lion Analysis
The big Idea or theme in the story, "The Wild Life of Christian the Lion" by Tod Olson and the
poem " Wild Home" by Rebecca Kai Dotlich is, can a something that lived in captured forever ever
learn to be free in the wild? My evidence from the text is " In the wild , lions prowl thousands of
acres of the land. Surly London was not a place for a lion to be." Another thing from the the text that
supports the main idea is when John said, " We knew we couldn't betray him by putting him in a
zoo." Another thing in the text of Christian the lion was, " The plan was to release Christian into the
wild. But it was not as simple as it seemed it would be because, animals raised in captivity do not

Personal Narrative: My Trip To New Life Christian Center
On March 26, I visited my friend's church called New life Christian center, in Durham.NC. It was
going to be my first time going to a black church. I was excited to see if all the things that is usually
said about their type of worship. Coming from a Jehovah Witness background, I knew everything
from music and worship would be a bit different than what I'm used to. Growing up I wasn't the
most religious person. So every experience is usually a first for me.
They usually wake up around 7 and get dressed. They partake in this thing every sunday morning
called "talking in tongues". I never heard of it barely coming from a christianity background. I didn't

When we sat down the preacher made a statement saying they were a bible believing church, so you
need a bible and notebook. If you didn't have one they'll get you one. Starting the worship we went
to Proverbs 1:5, "let the wise also hear and gain in learning, and the discerning acquired skill", and
he said listen with understanding. The preacher went on to saying that we need to hear and
understand. He told us 2 things about hearing. The first one was hearing will determine what you
will receive. He continued to repeat that every time you come to church you should read and learn
the word of God. We went to Acts 19 and he screams "AMEN" and starts reading "while Apollos
was in Corinth, Paul passed through the interior regions" and "we have not even heard that there is a
Holy Spirit". After reading that he continues to say that "what you hear is what you'll receive" and
made us repeat what he just said. The second important fact about hearing was, it drives out
unbelief. He preached on how hearing will drive out wrong thinking, wrong hearing, and speaking
against God. The preacher then said "A true pastor would want you to grow and increase in life

When God gave me the title for this book I was completely and totally dumbfounded. I was just

a total knee replacement. My son was graduating from College, my aging parents were all having
health issues and I was just started the process of allowing God to birth Speak Life Christian

I had to wrestle with some things, I had to have some very serious conversations with God, and
wrap my mind around Him giving me just one more thing to put my hands to. Especially when the
one more thing was not something I desired to do. I called a great sister friend of mine to have a
gripe and vent session, but as only God can, my plan was foiled. As we began to talk about the
ministry that God was birthing in me, the why, what, when, and how of it all began to come
together. We talked about the vision of the ministry that God began planting over nine years ago. We
talked about how God had begun to put people in my path that were integral in birthing the ministry.
We also talked about how I would be required to take on roles that I had never thought about.
Finally we also talked about surrendering to the process of what God was calling me to do. As the
conversation went on I realized that my gripe and vent session had turned into God's planning
session for the ministry. As we were wrapping up our conversation she said to me, "I am going to
pray that God gives you the grace for even the more." At the time she spoke those words it did not

My Life Of A Christian Home
The older I get, and the closer I get to adulthood, I am always trying to figure out the reason I am
alive. Being the small person I am in such a big world, it makes it difficult for me to understand why
I am here and what I am supposed to do. Growing up in a Christian home, I was taught to follow the
rules, have good morals, and to be a follower of God. However, I never know if what I am doing is
the right thing. I have donated most of my free time to my church, but instead of being involved in
the action, I am usually in the back, pondering about what is so good about attending. I finally
realized, maybe it isn't the church itself, but the way our church is always finding ways to help

second day. I was then instructed to unload the trucks and pass the material to the workers. This job
was not as easy as the other.
That same day, I noticed more people traveling by the construction site and taking a look at what
was going on. I also saw children playing football nearby. On my break I walked over to the
children to watch them play. I sat off to the side underneath a tree, out of the way so that I wouldn't
interfere with their game. As I sat in the tall itchy grass and watched them a young girl, about the
age of eight, walked up and sat next to me. She didn't say anything. She just sat down and watched
the other kids play football. I began to greet her, but she just sat there looking out in the field. So I
respected her silence and continued to watch as well. Finally, my break was over and I had to get
back to work. So I looked over at the little girl and said "same time tomorrow?" She never replied so

Christian Life Coaches Book Review
In conclusion, it is essential to recognize, that coaches encourage and assist the client(s) to construct
better skills, vision, growth through life transitions, guide the client through their spiritual journey
and speak the truth in love (Collins, 2009). Also, coaches will help people set goals and plan ways
to reach these goals. In other words, when obstacles get in the way, coaches challenge, inspire, and
give accountability so the individual (client) can overcome barriers and experience triumph. A
Christian life coach is there for you, prayerfully listening to your concerns and making inquiries that
will provide clarity on your circumstances, get you past your blocks, recognize your God–given
potential, and challenge you to be your best. As a result of the partnership with the coach people,
organizations, or churches can formulate a life–vision or life mission statements and makes those
come truth.

The book Newton on the Christian Life has had a tremendous effect not just in my spiritual walk,

challenged, and convicted.
Reinke challenged me to fight for joy. I had never thought of joy as something to battle for. Prior to
reading this book I thought that joy was just another word for happiness. However, happiness is an
emotion and temporary; joy is an attitude of the heart. The fight for joy is a constant internal

Plato's Influence On Christian Life
Plato (/ˈpleɪtoʊ/;[a][1] Greek: Πλάτων[a] Plátōn, pronounced [plá.tɔːn] in Classical Attic; 428/427
or 424/423[b] – 348/347 BCE) was a philosopher in Classical Greece and the founder of the
Academy in Athens, the first institution of higher learning in the Western world. He is widely
considered the most pivotal figure in the development of philosophy, especially the Western
tradition.[2] Unlike nearly all of his philosophical contemporaries, Plato's entire œuvre is believed
to have survived intact for over 2,400 years.[3]
Along with his teacher, Socrates, and his most famous student, Aristotle, Plato laid the very
foundations of Western philosophy and science.[4] Alfred North Whitehead once noted: "the safest
general characterization of the European philosophical tradition is that it consists of a series of
footnotes to Plato."[5] In addition to being a foundational figure for Western science, philosophy,
and mathematics, Plato has also often been cited as one of the founders of Western religion and
spirituality.[6] Friedrich Nietzsche, amongst other scholars, called Christianity, "Platonism for the
people."[7] Plato's influence on Christian thought is often thought to be mediated by his major
influence on Saint Augustine of Hippo, one of the most important philosophers and theologians in
the history of Christianity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plato appears to have been the founder of Western political philosophy, with his Republic, and Laws

have been Socrates, Parmenides, Heraclitus and Pythagoras, although few of his predecessors'
works remain extant and much of what we know about these figures today derives from Plato

Christian Life And The Teachings Of The Bible
I have been participating in the Korean language class on Monday and Wednesday from August 10
to now. Last Sunday, I participated in the 1st annual golden harvest 5k marathon. First, I'd like to
discuss the spiritual concepts/values from text that relate to personal beliefs. I am a Christian since
birth. So all I'd like to talk about is Christian life and the teachings of the bible. Throughout my
whole life, I have learned about spiritual things and what kind of spiritual things are in my ego. The
spiritual values that I always have is love, hope, and trust. Love is an element that Christians value
and have in their Christian mind and the bible says to love each other. I am doing my best to
understand this word throughout my whole life and it is the reason why I chose my major Nursing.
The dictionary meaning of love is an intense feeling of deep affection or feel a deep romantic or
sexual attachment to someone. The bible states that Christian love is selfless and a giving love. I
realized something when I went to Africa for doing some volunteer work. I felt what it meant to be
selfless and what it was to give love through volunteering and now I keep this in mind through my
life too. The second value is hope. All of religion is based on hope, just like forgiveness, and going
to heaven and waiting for God to give them something that they want. But in the bible it says, "set
your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ"(Peter

world, and we can find this in verse 17a of 2nd Corinthians chapter 6 – NLT, and it reads,
"Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the
LORD." This separation from the world is what allows the Christian to live a life full of faith, hope,

Pastor of Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN), explains faith, he said, "faith is something
that comes spontaneously, naturally." In other words, God does not force Christians to have faith,
faith is natural, which flows out of their love for

Christian Doctrines Of A Christian Life
In order to live a Christian life and walk in the way that is pleasing to the Lord, we have to
understand what the Bible is saying about fundamental Christian doctrines. There are plenty of
denominations that take what the Lord is saying and interpret it in a way that fits their
understanding. In this paper I will be talking about three controversial Christian doctrines which are
baptizing babies, losing your salvation, and speaking in tongues in order to get to heaven. One
Christian doctrine I do not agree with is baptizing babies. To me baptism is a sign to the world that
you have been changed by Christ; you have accepted him into your life and he has forgave you of
your sins. When you enter the water that represents you dying to your old ways, once you come up
out of the water it is symbolizing the new life you are ready to endure. Being a baby, we really do
not have an understanding of what is going on, there is no dying to an old life, simply because the
baby hasn't had a chance to live yet. I believe that just because you are baptized it does not mean
you are going to heaven as some denominations believe. Baptism is something you do when you are
truly ready and have an understanding on why Jesus came down to earth and what Jesus has done
for us, without that understanding there is no reason to be baptized. When we are babies that is the
purest that we are going to be. The older we get the more we sin and the more we are in need of a
savior, as babies we cannot

Christian Influences On Bonhoeffer's Life
Introduction On February 4, 1908 in Belarus, Germany, two children were born to Karl and Paula
Hase Bonhoeffer, and one of them would impact the world. Karl was an esteemed German
psychologist, and Paula came from an honorable and wealthy family. And on February 4, Dietrich
and his twin Sabine entered the world as the sixth and seventh child of the Bonhoeffer family. Little
did his parents know that one day, Dietrich would become a pastor, lead a paradigm shift in
Christian thinking, assist in attempt to assassinate a dictator, and give his life for everything he
believed in.

For the first time, Bonhoeffer heard the Gospel of Christ in all of its power. What greatly impacted
Bonhoeffer was the fact that despite the sufferings and mistreatments the African–American Church
members endured, they believed in such a powerful Gospel, and were faithfully walking in
obedience to Christ (Metaxas 2010, 108). During this time, Bonhoeffer was truly transformed by the
redemptive power of Christ, and his life would begin to take a different direction.
The New Bonhoeffer After coming back to Germany, Dietrich Bonhoeffer realized the change that
taken place in his life. For the first time I discovered the Bible... I had often preached. I had seen a
great deal of the Church. And talked and preached about it, but I had not yet become a Christian... I
know that at that time I turned the doctrine of Jesus Christ into something of personal advantage for
myself... Also I had never prayed, or prayed very little. Then the Bible, in particular the Sermon on
the Mount freed me from that. Since then everything has changed. (Metaxas 2010, 123).
Back in Berlin, Bonhoeffer began to give lectures at the University. However, he was unlike many
of his professor colleagues, for Bonhoeffer went beyond the call of a teacher and personally
invested in his students' lives (Metaxas 2010, 125). A key idea that he realized is that following

My Understanding Of Family Life And The Meaning And...
As a child I regularly listened to the radio broadcasts provided by the conservative Christian
organization, Focus on the Family–both the daily broadcast on family issues and the weekly
broadcast of the radio drama for children, Adventures in Odyssey.
My understanding of family life and the meaning and content of Christian faith was heavily
influenced by these broadcasts. I listened carefully to the dangers of straying beyond the strict
confines of conservative Christian morality, and I can still hear the emphatic tone of voice in which
Dr. Dobson warned his listeners that the process of falling in love that begins with holding hands
will inevitably "end up in bed" if nothing is done to stop it.
Adventures in Odyssey was entertaining and funny, with engaging characters and high quality
production and story editing. I enjoyed listening to the adventures and getting to know the
characters. It was only later in life that I began to sort out the potentially damaging messages within
the drama from the more simple moralistic ideas of parental love and good behavior. I still like to
listen at times, for nostalgia's sake, but I am increasingly concerned by how the blithe and joyful
nature of the program masks what frequently amounts to bigotry, ignorance, and intolerance. I am
grieved that such a special part of my childhood is turning into something that is little better than a
propaganda tool for extreme right–wing Christianity.
Given this observation, perhaps I should not have

Society often ignores the calling to do something that would impact the world in a positive way.
Oftentimes, people look only to the interests of themselves and their immediate families. In the past,
I would have looked at the majority of the population's unresponsiveness to service and say, "Well,
they don't have the money currently; they're just trying to save what they can for their own
situation," or "I am sure they want to help, but don't know how." And while my thoughts were
sympathetic, my callowness in the knowledge of human nature truly shone during those times.
Simply put, I needed to learn that mankind truly isn't that generous. Being raised in a Christian
home my entire lifetime, I had learned a thing or two about what it means to serve someone that is
not myself. In addition to this, I had been taught in a private Christian school my entire academic

Chapter 8 Application To The Christian Life
Chapter 8 Applications to the Christian Life (Adequacy for the Demands of Life) 8.1 Introduction.
This chapter focuses on practical theology as related to Christian life to determine whether or not
the openness theological model answers to "the adequacy to the demands of life" – the fourth
criteria for evaluating a theological proposal. The five headings are divided into subheadings to aid
in discussion. 8.2 Salvation and Grace. The author breaks this topic down into subheading for
discussion purposes. 8.2.1 Introduction. The author moves to conduct a deeper examination of the
concept of "salvation and grace" as he believes that the subject reveals more divergent viewpoints
from the Apostle Paul's remarks as reflected in Eph. 2:1–3 and 2:8–9. 8.2.2 The no–risk model of
salvation. The no–risk model of salvation shows the following: Man can do nothing to free himself

Introduction. Here, the author states that this section is focused on petitioning prayer and
specifically impetratory prayer – receiving something because we prayed for it. 8.4.2 The no–risk
model and prayer. He states that the proponents of the no–risk model (specific sovereignty) hold that
God ordains everything to do with prayer, but intercessory prayer has no impact on God's mind – it
is more of a therapeutic act for the one praying. 8.4.3 The Risk Model and Prayer. The author
explains that because of the belief of the risk model that God enters into a personal relationship with
his people, God is very much responsive to impetratory prayer. He adds that not only is impetratory
prayer acceptable to God, but is expected. He cites James 4:2–3 and 5:16. 8.5 Divine

The Christian Classic, Life Together By Dietrich Bonhoeffer

  • 1. The Christian Classic, Life Together By Dietrich Bonhoeffer The Christian classic, Life Together, by Dietrich Bonhoeffer, is a book where he outlines his experiences as a Christian pastor and theologian training young pastors in Finkenwalde Seminary and of the Brothers House. Bonhoeffer also details the essential principles needed for Christian fellowship, gleaned in the backdrop of the pre–war German underground. Dietrich treatise helps answer questions about community in Christian life; he believed that God bestows brotherhood upon us for a reason especially under illegality. His Christian message is clear: "Without Christ there is discord between God and man and between man and man.... Christ opened up the way to God and to our brother." (23) The content of his work is mostly based on daily spiritual devotions, love and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this short nonfiction book, he accounts what occurred during 1935 to 1945 along with its historical context of living in Nazi Germany during this time. In this narrative, he begins by with providing praise to Christian community as well as extolling the grace of God for giving Christians the opportunity to live in fellowship with one another. "Therefore, let him who until now has had the privilege of living a common Christian life with other Christians praise God's grace from the bottom of his heart. Let him thank God on bended knees and declare: it is grace, nothing but grace, that we are allowed to live in community with Christian brethren."(20) He emphasizes the differences in community as either divine reality or human ideal. According to Bonhoeffer the church is not only a visionary outcome of desire, nor should humans claim to be fully responsible for the failures. Instead the author asserts that Jesus Christ is the one who solely created the church, therefore Christian's job being solely to partake in the church with thankful and open hearts and seeking ... • 2. Life As A Christian Versus Buddhism Life as a Christian versus Buddhism As a Christian you have taken on the likeness of Jesus Christ in the flesh. You are to walk and talk as he did when he walked the earth. But, as a Buddhist, you take on the likeness of a child that did not want to be a "god." I will talk about the differences between Christianity and Buddhism and then give information on the matters. But, first we will have to understand the formation and beginnings of the two religions. Buddhism, which has been around for over 2500 years, was started because of a little boy who was chosen by his father after birth to be significant because of certain markings or signs on the little baby's body. Growing up, this boy was sheltered from all negativity and given a life where he was never allowed to see or experience anything negative or bad. His dad felt that he would have so much compassion for people and want to save them from hurt if he saw the bad things in the world. And, his dad wanted him to become an Emperor and rule the people, not feel sorry for them and try to save them from harm. The very thing that his dad thought turned out to be true for Siddhartha Gautama. Siddhartha snuck away to experience the real world and once exposed, decided he wanted to give up his life of luxury and live a simple life while finding the answers he was looking for. After he grew up, he left his wife, son and comfortable home and began his journey as a monk. He developed self–control, mastered meditation, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Christian Life The Christian life is a discussion that the details of its description such as the definition, ground and power are not easy to explain. The scriptures paint a vast web of each author's ideals on what the Christian life should be. For example, in I Corinthians 6: 1–8 we see Paul referring to the different standards that must prevail in the Christian community and then in Ephesians we see the distinction of Christians from the nations. (Hessert, 16) Every Christian has this picture of what living the Christian life should be. Not every picture is the same but certain concepts are universal. The golden rule 'do unto others, as you have done unto you' is a prime example. Every sect of Christianity is different yet the golden rule stands throughout all religion sects. The Christian life is complex because there are so many factors that play into it. The most vital parts of the life are to understand that we belong to God and we must follow the guidelines that he has set forth and to follow the path of progress even in the times that it becomes unclear. The Christian life is filled with joy, complexity and peace that people can find, even in their darkest of times. Through faith many feel that "we are not our own masters, but belong to God." (Calvin, 1) The ideals are very straight forward in the sense that we are to provide our bodies to God as a living sacrifice and live by him. We must not conform to the fashion of the world, but be transformed by the renewal of our minds, so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Obedience Is the Bottom Line of Christian Life Obedience to authority is everywhere. Whether it is a student obeying the teacher, citizens following the laws or a child obeying his or her parents, there will always be a scenario of obedience to authority. There are different levels of obedience ranging from a group of people following their leader, such as on a sports team, to extreme religious cults. The word obedience come from the Latin word Obaudrie, which means to listen well. Obedience is defined as compliance to the plan; conformity to the pattern; observance of the rules; loyalty to the standards and submission to another's will. Obedience is carrying out the given direction cheerfully and quickly. Obedience is the bottom line of the Christian life yet it plays a vital role in the formation of character of a person. Obedience is part of the foundation of society. Without obedience, nothing would exist but chaos and confusion. Human individuality is often undermined by the blind obedience humans feel towards those in position of power. In order for humans to maintain their individuality and a stable society, a balance between obedience and independence must be found. To obey means doing what God says in the timing and manner that He says to do it. We must then know what His instructions are. We cannot comply with something we do not understand. The Holy Spirit assists us in relating God's commands to our situation and helps us determine the wise choice. The true meaning of obedience has changed over the course of ... • 5. The Ten Facets Of The Christian Life The text has presented the twelve facets of the Christian life (Boa, 2001). The idea of a multi– faceted gem to compartmentalize different components of faith is helpful when looking to the future. Each part is unique but holds together the entirety. I can see how my faith is the entire "gem" and I can work on each facet to complete and complement my whole being. My spiritual life, current schooling, future working life, and married life are interconnected but can be individually enhanced at different times. Spiritual Life Christian faith is a defining aspect or facet of my identity. I have grown up in a family with many levels of evangelism. The best fit for me is Lifestyle Evangelism. I set myself apart from the world through my actions, vocabulary, entertainment choices and general comportment. The Timm's lectures have cemented the idea that I the beloved of God and as such should carry myself with confidence and security. The excluded middle discussion in the Timm's lectures also provides insight of why we need the Holy Spirit when facing the conflicts and challenges of life, especially if they are demonic in nature. Dependence on the Holy Spirit for guidance is becoming a higher priority as I am becoming more aware through this class of the availability and purpose provided by scripture. Spreading the love of God and the gift of Jesus can be done quietly or loudly, I believe I will continue to be quiet, but have placed myself as willing to follow the nudging of the ... • 7. Golden Booklet Of The True Christian Life Summary Should a Believer's Life Evidence Growth? John Calvin makes the assertion throughout his Golden Booklet of the True Christian Life that a believer's life should show growth and spiritual progress. According to the Christian teachings, Calvin's assertions are correct. Calvin argues that because Christians believe that their lives belong to the Lord, they are to follow His plan for their lives, strive to better the lives of others, and show appreciation for God's blessings. The central idea that Calvin bases most of his claims on in his booklet is the idea that Christians should "walk in the beauty of God's law", so that the claims of belief and trust in God that Christians make are exhibited outwardly in the way that they live their lives (15). In theory, if believers do conduct their lives in an effort to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is very clear that this includes both friend and foe (37). This is in itself an embodiment of the first argument that people should live in an effort to fulfill God's plan. If a person strives to encourage and help their fellow humans, Calvin would argue that this is the very will of God. The outcome of their good intentions should display relational growth in both their community and their personal lives. By showing good will toward others, humans are displaying their appreciation for God's creation, for He himself created humans. Calvin even goes so far as to say that Christians should do more than just be nice to people; he says that they should sympathize with them, and so their best to offer assistance or condolence in times of hardship (39). Calvin borrows Paul's example of the body in reference to the church, saying that each part of the body depends on the others in order to run smoothly and effectively (40). By doing their best to improve the lives of those around them, Christians encourage growth both in the church and in their own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Golden Booklet Of The True Christian Life God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, therefore a predetermined path of righteousness or condemnation is contradictory to the core values of Christianity, as it eliminates the need for the will to be saved by Christ. This shows that God does not control our actions, in hopes that we live in accordance to him. In The Golden Booklet of the True Christian Life, author John Calvin explains that our actions do affect our relationship with God. He says, "It is God's own glory that he cannot have anything to do with iniquity and uncleanness," (Calvin, 17). God would not be able to be with us if we lived a complete life of inconsideration to him that would be an uncleanly life. A Christian is called to be as much like Jesus as they possibly can. Jesus never made compromises, he didn't ever say I am the son of God so I can live how I want. For "it is unlawful for you to make a compromise with God: to try to fulfill part of your duties and to omit others at your own pleasure," (Calvin, 22). If Jesus had made compromises he would probably not have dies for the sins of human kind. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This world in which all human kind lives in is distorted and filled with sin but we are called to choose to not give in to the sin, to not conform to the work around us and prove our faith is stronger than our sinful desires. God does not control what we choose to do, he may put situations in ones lives that will test ones faith but the person themselves is in control of their fate and what will come from the challenge that lies ahead. Calvin states, "The Lord has still another reason for afflicting his children: to try their patience and to teach them obedience," (Calvin, 52). God would not try a persons patience or teach them obedience if God knew exactly what would happen, because it is in those trials that he does not know what will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Antony Flew on Christian Life People always tend to give high attention to individuals who turned their backs on their once held beliefs to argue that (Christian) faith is unreasonable and without real substance. Rationality seems to be the source of every argument for the non–existence of God, and is often understood as inherently opposing to faith. However, the story of Antony Flew is one that atheists can and should not discard, as he experienced something very different. Born into a Christian family Flew grew up in the church and was exposed to Christian beliefs and customs. He never really found a personal connection to Christianity and converted to Atheism, but after decades of arguing the non–existence of God, he came to the conclusion that there is no other possibility than the validity of the existence of God. This process is documented in There is a God. Antony Flew is considered one of the, some might argue the most important, proponents of atheism in the 20th century and his works made major contributions to the argumentation of atheism. The author begins his personal story, some might call it testimony, with explaining the process of becoming an atheist in the first place, before rejecting it after all these years. Born as the son of a Methodist minister and preacher, Flew went to a Christian school, and was, as he calls himself, a 'committed and conscientious, if unenthusiastic, Christian' (p.10). He did not feel a personal connection to God and was not interested in any kind of worship. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Comparison Essay: Afterlife Vs. Christian Book Of Life Due to its obscure nature, the concept of life after death has spawned a myriad of debates and assumptions, but some of the most well–known afterlife theories belong to the Christians and the Ancient Egyptians. It is common for people to compare the Christian Book of Life to the Egyptians' weighing of the heart ceremony, Jesus to Horus or Osiris, and the 10 Commandments to the Book of the Dead. In addition, the Ancient Egyptians began developing their religion when Egypt was formed at about 3,400 BC, while Christianity was formed in the first century AD. This long timespan between the two beliefs and their stark similarities have made many believe that the Christians copied the Egyptians. Though the Christians and Ancient Egyptians still have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Christianity's case, maintaining the purity of God's kingdom meant that "impure" ones are sent to Hell. If one does not find his/her name in the Book of Life, then he/she is thrown into the lake of fire and thus suffers a second death. A form of judgement before being allowed entry into the afterlife is also present in Ancient Egypt. In the New Kingdom, it was believed that having a heart heavier than the Maat feather would result in getting the heart devoured by a monster called Ammit, which leads to a second death. Another version again exists in The Adventures of Setna and Si– Osire, where instead of weighing the heart, the gods weigh one's misdeeds and good deeds. If one's misdeeds outweigh the good deeds, he/she "will be given to the Devourer belonging to the Lord of the West, while his ba–spirit and corpse are destroyed, nor does she let him breathe ever again." Nevertheless, in this version of judgement, the person also suffers a second death as his/her ba– spirit, the entity that traverses into the heavens to be with the gods, is ... How far is too far, and where do excursions into more adult fiction turn from innocent interest into sin? I know that I have fairly strict lines on when sexual content or humor becomes inappropriate, and this is assisted by my lake of interest in the majority of genres that typically showcase such things. Additionally, my interest in genres that showcase gratuitous violence or cursing is also fairly minimal. However, I have always loved works of fantasy, mythology, and even supernatural, which has, on occasion, upset my grandparents. Boundaries set up by the culture or time period are so changeable. When my grandparents were young the church frowned upon playing cards, dancing, attending the movies, and women wearing pants. Now, although remnants of those beliefs remain, much of the Christian community in America has vastly different opinions. • 12. Compare And Contrast The Christian View Of Life After Death The Christian and Hindu views of life after death vary, but are also similar in some senses. The Christian view is that life after death is reuniting with God in Heaven, and Jesus is the provider of this path through his death and ultimate resurrection. The Hindu people view life after death in terms of reincarnation, and that a persons' soul, or atman, is reborn over and over again until it reaches moksha, or the release from the cycle of rebirth, and can finally be at peace. Through a Christian lens, life after death is when a disembodied soul leaves Earth and travels to heaven, or possibly hell. Christians believe that once the soul is in heaven, it is once again a person fully alive with God in his kingdom. In other words, people die physically, but are alive in spirit with God. There is a constant hope for heaven, and a fear of hell when Christians contemplate their afterlife. When they pass away in the physical world, there is a Judgement Day in heaven. This day is when God judges the peoples' sins and repentance, and acts accordingly. The people could either be condemned to hell, or granted entrance into heaven on this day. • 15. Christian Doctrine And Practice Of Life And Culture Christian doctrine and practices are applicable in every aspect of life and culture. Christ's teachings are just as relevant in the business world as they are in our own personal lives. Businesses can honor God by observing Christian principles in how they operate. As seen throughout this course, this can be translated into everything from internal operations to budget management to controlling costs. "The Hebrew Bible, especially the Pentateuch (Torah), is replete with precepts that deal with business ethics, and can be used as a starting point for those interested in developing higher moral standards in business." (Friedman and Giladi, 2002) The Bible depicts the use of accounting procedures internally as a way to keep businesses honest their worth. Businesses use financial records, such as Cash Flow, to track transactions made to the government, employees and vendors. Since humans were born to sin, accounting practices are used to keep the owners honest and reduce fraud. "No accounts were kept with the men to whom the money was paid over to be spent on workmen since they were honest in their dealings" (2 Kings 12:16). According to the Bible, when man became greedy and dishonest, the use of records helped to track the exchange of cash or supplies and protect both parties involved in the business transaction. Along with Christian values, established ethics policies, and effective supervision practices, the risk of fraud can be greatly decreased. The proper analysis ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jayber treated Mattie like he did anyone else, the only difference is he knew he loved her. The first thing that I think makes Jayber a great person is that he respected Mattie's marriage. I think this demonstrates agape love. Though she does not love him, Jayber still loves her; This is just like how God loves all of his creation even though some of it does not love him back. Another thing that makes me look up to Jayber is that he is so faithful to his commitment. People break their commitments so easily. The Most Formative Experience of My Christian Life: I grew up in Pakistan with a diverse culture around me. Before moving to the U.S., the city I grew up in was a blend of people who lived there because of their jobs, education and business purposes. I learned that poverty, marginalization and violence, neither had a religion nor selects people of a specific faith to attack them. This made me devote myself to the church and its programs to serve all children of God spreading the good news of Jesus Christ and fighting for social justice against the systemic evil in the world. At church, in addition to my participation in the worship services, I volunteered at our church's soup kitchen, medical camps and elementary school for underprivileged children. These experiences opened my eyes to the deprivation of love and care in the world and a dire need of God's grace for people at large so they could receive forgiveness, healing and restoration in their lives. My spiritual formation took a new turn when in 2013 my parents' house was burned down in an arson. At that time, I was living with my parents. As the end of my first semester in college comes to a close I feel blessed that I am able to write about the purpose of trials in a Christian's life. Within this paper I hope to enlighten those who question the trials and difficulties that God gives us to face. By developing understanding that the reason for trials are to build up and test your faith, to help you mature as a Christian, as well as give new insight to something beyond your current circumstance. Testing of Faith God gives us trials that knock us down to the point that we feel hopeless and the obstacle is far too difficult to overcome. His purpose is not to turn us away from Him, but instead He wants us to seek comfort and strength in Him alone. Strong not only in the Christian faith, but also in Jewish culture, it is stressed that the endurance of testings from God should be viewed as a blessing, and to find joy in them as they express faith in God's sovereignty. He is widely considered the most pivotal figure in the development of philosophy, especially the Western tradition.[2] Unlike nearly all of his philosophical contemporaries, Plato's entire œuvre is believed to have survived intact for over 2,400 years.[3] Along with his teacher, Socrates, and his most famous student, Aristotle, Plato laid the very foundations of Western philosophy and science.[4] Alfred North Whitehead once noted: "the safest general characterization of the European philosophical tradition is that it consists of a series of footnotes to Plato."[5] In addition to being a foundational figure for Western science, philosophy, and mathematics, Plato has also often been cited as one of the founders of Western religion and spirituality.[6] Friedrich Nietzsche, amongst other scholars, called Christianity, "Platonism for the people."[7] Plato's influence on Christian thought is often thought to be mediated by his major influence on Saint Augustine of Hippo, one of the most important philosophers and theologians in the history of Christianity. ... Plato appears to have been the founder of Western political philosophy, with his Republic, and Laws among other dialogues, providing some of the earliest extant treatments of political questions from a philosophical perspective. Plato's own most decisive philosophical influences are usually thought to have been Socrates, Parmenides, Heraclitus and Pythagoras, although few of his predecessors' works remain extant and much of what we know about these figures today derives from Plato ... • 32. Christian Life And The Teachings Of The Bible I have been participating in the Korean language class on Monday and Wednesday from August 10 to now. Last Sunday, I participated in the 1st annual golden harvest 5k marathon. First, I'd like to discuss the spiritual concepts/values from text that relate to personal beliefs. I am a Christian since birth. So all I'd like to talk about is Christian life and the teachings of the bible. Throughout my whole life, I have learned about spiritual things and what kind of spiritual things are in my ego. The spiritual values that I always have is love, hope, and trust. Love is an element that Christians value and have in their Christian mind and the bible says to love each other. I am doing my best to understand this word throughout my whole life and it is the reason why I chose my major Nursing. The dictionary meaning of love is an intense feeling of deep affection or feel a deep romantic or sexual attachment to someone. The bible states that Christian love is selfless and a giving love. I realized something when I went to Africa for doing some volunteer work. I felt what it meant to be selfless and what it was to give love through volunteering and now I keep this in mind through my life too. The second value is hope. All of religion is based on hope, just like forgiveness, and going to heaven and waiting for God to give them something that they want. But in the bible it says, "set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ"(Peter ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Christian Life History BIB 350B – History of the Christian Church The Christian Life Presented to the Faculty of the Geneva College The Center for Urban Biblical Ministry in partial fulfillment of the requirements For the AA Degree in Ministry By Sister Joy L. Johnson Rev. Helen M. Jackson, MS March 22, 2017 In the Bible, the Lord commanded His children to come out and separate themselves from the world, and we can find this in verse 17a of 2nd Corinthians chapter 6 – NLT, and it reads, "Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the LORD." This separation from the world is what allows the Christian to live a life full of faith, hope, and love because they are children of the Highest God. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We just read what Paul wrote about Christian love, in the 13th chapter of 1st Corinthians, now let us turn our attention to the virtues of faith and hope. God said in His word, that "without faith, it is impossible to please Him," (Heb. 11–6). In fact, I like the way that Prophet TB Joshua, Senior Pastor of Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN), explains faith, he said, "faith is something that comes spontaneously, naturally." In other words, God does not force Christians to have faith, faith is natural, which flows out of their love for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Orthodox Christian Life Research Paper (It was a dark and cool night in the old UW–L White Hall. Students were scurrying home for spring break except for one individual trying to finish her five page paper wishing on a miracle. Little did this young individual know miracles do exist and a shooting star heard the student's cry for such grand and opinionated writers to be brought back to Earth. From there our adventures begin.) Lauren: (while typing vigorously a loud bang is heard. Looking outside the one and only Thomas Paine, Rousseau, Dostoevsky, Nietzsche, Descartes, and Hobbes appeared before the frightened student.) Well I guess I will just roll with this one. (Lauren rounds up all the writers and they gather in a room to talk about important life topics). So boys what is everyone's religious beliefs, as a new college student discovering life with a new slate I don't know what to believe. I used to consider myself a Christian but I am unsure where I stand with this as of now. I am also known for having a view of God as "an extended thing that's mixed through the rest of the world, not being in every individual place in the world, but able to affect all the things in the world" (Duncan). So I personally am unsure if I kind Buddhism is a religion or philosophy. With my views I feel like Buddhism is a bit of both. For instance who says enlightenment is actually real or Nirvana? This could be seen as religious along with their path to getting there. However, on the other hand, things about Christianity could also be said that's almost identical. • 35. Christian Doctrines Of A Christian Life In order to live a Christian life and walk in the way that is pleasing to the Lord, we have to understand what the Bible is saying about fundamental Christian doctrines. There are plenty of denominations that take what the Lord is saying and interpret it in a way that fits their understanding. In this paper I will be talking about three controversial Christian doctrines which are baptizing babies, losing your salvation, and speaking in tongues in order to get to heaven. One Christian doctrine I do not agree with is baptizing babies. To me baptism is a sign to the world that you have been changed by Christ; you have accepted him into your life and he has forgave you of your sins. When you enter the water that represents you dying to your old ways, once you come up out of the water it is symbolizing the new life you are ready to endure. Being a baby, we really do not have an understanding of what is going on, there is no dying to an old life, simply because the baby hasn't had a chance to live yet. I believe that just because you are baptized it does not mean you are going to heaven as some denominations believe. Baptism is something you do when you are truly ready and have an understanding on why Jesus came down to earth and what Jesus has done for us, without that understanding there is no reason to be baptized. When we are babies that is the purest that we are going to be. The older we get the more we sin and the more we are in need of a savior, as babies we cannot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Christian Influences On Bonhoeffer's Life Introduction On February 4, 1908 in Belarus, Germany, two children were born to Karl and Paula Hase Bonhoeffer, and one of them would impact the world. Karl was an esteemed German psychologist, and Paula came from an honorable and wealthy family. And on February 4, Dietrich and his twin Sabine entered the world as the sixth and seventh child of the Bonhoeffer family. Little did his parents know that one day, Dietrich would become a pastor, lead a paradigm shift in Christian thinking, assist in attempt to assassinate a dictator, and give his life for everything he believed in. Up–Bringing Dietrich, the sixth of eight children, grew up in an upper–class, well cultured home. During their childhood, the Bonhoeffer children enjoyed music, recreation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the first time, Bonhoeffer heard the Gospel of Christ in all of its power. What greatly impacted Bonhoeffer was the fact that despite the sufferings and mistreatments the African–American Church members endured, they believed in such a powerful Gospel, and were faithfully walking in obedience to Christ (Metaxas 2010, 108). During this time, Bonhoeffer was truly transformed by the redemptive power of Christ, and his life would begin to take a different direction. The New Bonhoeffer After coming back to Germany, Dietrich Bonhoeffer realized the change that taken place in his life. For the first time I discovered the Bible... I had often preached. I had seen a great deal of the Church. And talked and preached about it, but I had not yet become a Christian... I know that at that time I turned the doctrine of Jesus Christ into something of personal advantage for myself... Also I had never prayed, or prayed very little. Then the Bible, in particular the Sermon on the Mount freed me from that. Since then everything has changed. (Metaxas 2010, 123). Back in Berlin, Bonhoeffer began to give lectures at the University. However, he was unlike many of his professor colleagues, for Bonhoeffer went beyond the call of a teacher and personally invested in his students' lives (Metaxas 2010, 125). A key idea that he realized is that following Christ comes above following the State ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. My Understanding Of Family Life And The Meaning And... As a child I regularly listened to the radio broadcasts provided by the conservative Christian organization, Focus on the Family–both the daily broadcast on family issues and the weekly broadcast of the radio drama for children, Adventures in Odyssey. My understanding of family life and the meaning and content of Christian faith was heavily influenced by these broadcasts. I listened carefully to the dangers of straying beyond the strict confines of conservative Christian morality, and I can still hear the emphatic tone of voice in which Dr. Dobson warned his listeners that the process of falling in love that begins with holding hands will inevitably "end up in bed" if nothing is done to stop it. Adventures in Odyssey was entertaining and funny, with engaging characters and high quality production and story editing. I enjoyed listening to the adventures and getting to know the characters. It was only later in life that I began to sort out the potentially damaging messages within the drama from the more simple moralistic ideas of parental love and good behavior. I still like to listen at times, for nostalgia's sake, but I am increasingly concerned by how the blithe and joyful nature of the program masks what frequently amounts to bigotry, ignorance, and intolerance. I am grieved that such a special part of my childhood is turning into something that is little better than a propaganda tool for extreme right–wing Christianity. Given this observation, perhaps I should not have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. College Admissions Essay: My Life As A Christian Home Society often ignores the calling to do something that would impact the world in a positive way. Oftentimes, people look only to the interests of themselves and their immediate families. In the past, I would have looked at the majority of the population's unresponsiveness to service and say, "Well, they don't have the money currently; they're just trying to save what they can for their own situation," or "I am sure they want to help, but don't know how." And while my thoughts were sympathetic, my callowness in the knowledge of human nature truly shone during those times. Simply put, I needed to learn that mankind truly isn't that generous. Being raised in a Christian home my entire lifetime, I had learned a thing or two about what it means to serve someone that is not myself. In addition to this, I had been taught in a private Christian school my entire academic career, where an emphasis was placed on mission projects both inside and outside the walls of the campus. • 39. Chapter 8 Application To The Christian Life Chapter 8 Applications to the Christian Life (Adequacy for the Demands of Life) 8.1 Introduction. This chapter focuses on practical theology as related to Christian life to determine whether or not the openness theological model answers to "the adequacy to the demands of life" – the fourth criteria for evaluating a theological proposal. The five headings are divided into subheadings to aid in discussion. 8.2 Salvation and Grace. The author breaks this topic down into subheading for discussion purposes. 8.2.1 Introduction. The author moves to conduct a deeper examination of the concept of "salvation and grace" as he believes that the subject reveals more divergent viewpoints from the Apostle Paul's remarks as reflected in Eph. 2:1–3 and 2:8–9. 8.2.2 The no–risk model of salvation. The no–risk model of salvation shows the following: Man can do nothing to free himself from sin or have any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The author summarized the points made earlier and concluded that according to the risk model, horrible events can happen that God does not intend; he reminds us, however, that we are called to collaborate with God to help eradicate those evils that are not ordained by him. 8.4 Prayer. 8.4.1 Introduction. Here, the author states that this section is focused on petitioning prayer and specifically impetratory prayer – receiving something because we prayed for it. 8.4.2 The no–risk model and prayer. He states that the proponents of the no–risk model (specific sovereignty) hold that God ordains everything to do with prayer, but intercessory prayer has no impact on God's mind – it is more of a therapeutic act for the one praying. 8.4.3 The Risk Model and Prayer. The author explains that because of the belief of the risk model that God enters into a personal relationship with his people, God is very much responsive to impetratory prayer. He adds that not only is impetratory prayer acceptable to God, but is expected. He cites James 4:2–3 and 5:16. 8.5 Divine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
