American Industrialization Essay
Had it not been for the American industrialization, we would not enjoy the technology we have in
the year 2002. The reason we have this technology is that between those years a great change in the
world's history was made. People started to discover faster methods of producing goods, which
increased their economy. However, this industrialization had no effects on society. Society then was
still very poor in some areas, but later on in the future the United States becomes the richest and
most powerful country in the world.
What do these industries depend on? Yes they depend on good transportation systems to bring raw

Britain was also the leading trading nation in Europe, which gave their merchants lots of capital. So
as a result they used their capital to invest in textiles, mines railroads and shipbuilding. Britain also
had a large colonial empire, which supplied it with raw materials for their factories. In addition
people in the colonies bought finished goods produced by British industry. Also the government
encouraged industrial growth, it lifted restrictions on trade, it encouraged road– and canal– building,
and it maintained a strong navy to protect British merchant ships all over the world.
Factory conditions were terrible. The fumes, the loud noise of machines, and poor lighting. Also the
machines did not have safety devises incase of emergencies. The people who worked in the factories
were men, women and children aging 5 and above. However, this period had a vast growth of a new
middle class that were now as rich as the aristocrats and sadly the factory workers had little
economical and political power which made them bond together and try to improve their working
and living conditions.
This era was the greatest transformation in the history of humans, , but after the invention of writing,
and the invention of the city and state. I believe that all these laid the foundations for the industrial

Britain to industrialize. As people were able to buy food at lower prices with less labor, there was in

During the 1800s, industrialization was the sole purpose everywhere in Europe. Industrialization
was the reason for pushing forwards. Industrialization has led to what we live in today in the
twenty–first century it also had many downsides. The one major fault was the introduction to the

It created this culture of treating workers unfairly and unjustly. A culture that is okay to treat
workers the way John Wright displayed how kids were treated. It created a culture of sending kids to
work at a young age where it is unsafe and not healthy. A culture of long work days and weeks in
which it puts people in pain. This really shows how great the serration each class faced. The factory
workers were made up of the lower class. That was the only job people could find. The rich were the
factory owner in which they only had to receive the benefits of the labour. This shows how the
social structure in the 1800s was but that same aspect of the difference between the lower and upper

The industrialization created a lot of wealth for the business owners and also as a byproduct
increased the standard of living for consumers allowing the government to increase taxes without
affecting the consumer. By allowing large corporations to mass produce goods, not only were the
goods higher quality but there was a larger variety of goods and the goods were cheaper. As a result
of this, the everyday consumer could by goods for a fraction of the cost they had before. By
increasing the variety and decreasing the cost of these goods it increased the standard of living for

Cheaper and more efficient methods of transportation were developed and utilized in the inner cities.
The most successful form of improved transportation was the streetcar, which was the most popular
mode of transit to and from work everyday. The increasingly cheap methods of travel that were

looking to set up another new factory in Bangladesh. This report investigates and examines the basic
considerations for a factory set up, then makes recommendations on these findings in order to
provide the management team with the tools required to ensure a smooth factory start up. The
discussion focuses on the four main topics: Method of manufacture, Method study/time study,
Costings and Quality. Recommendations are made concerning these topics, with the benefits and
drawbacks of each presented, with suggestions on which of each topic may be best suited to the

All of the different impacts from the Industrial Revolution has shaped how the work place and
conditions are today. The industrial Revolution was the shift from home and hand made production,
to machine and factory production of goods. It helped produce goods faster and cheaper. The
Industrial Revolution began in the early 18th century in England before spreading to all of Europe,
Asia, and soon North America. It impacted nearly every facet of society, economics, philosophy,
politics, and culture ("American"). But the three most impacted were the people, especially women
and children. Before society was put into work in the factories and mines, new inventions and
innovations had to be made. There were multiple new machines that were made to make production
easier and faster. This includes the spinning mule, water–powered cotton mill, and the telegraph.
One invention that really impacted the growth of the industrial Revolution was the steam engine.
The steam engine was invented in 1698 but soonly refined by James Watt, were used to power
cotton mills and factories where a variety of goods were made. They later used steam engines to
power ships and the first locomotives ("Gale"). Introduction of new methods made production even

were living in countryside towns whilst working on family owned farms, this was otherwise known
as the cottage industry. When the transition in 17th century began people slowly migrated to the
cities, working in factories and the environments drastically changed.

the education system needs to change are economic and cultural. The economy is much more global
now than it was back then, and educating our children on how to take their place in the economy.
Cultural because today having a cultural identity is hard when conforming and being standardized is

children now because of all the distractions of technology and entertainment, why would a child

workers and owners could benefit equally. One of the most major points to be made is that most, if
not all, of the workers were female. The factory consisted of the manufacturing area, the dorms, and
the facilities for the workers. The facilities included places such as lecture halls and schools for their
education. This was all supposed to facilitate a place for a life of work as well as learning. However,

1800's. In the novel, Jurgis and his family immigrate to America in order to find prosperity and

The effects of the system were so quickly felt that it has been compared to a revolution. Few
revolutions, however, have had such sweeping consequences as the Industrial Revolution –
smokestacks, steam engines, capitalism and even, natural selection.
The advent of the Industrial Revolution saw a number of habitats blackened by industrial soot, as
well as changes in animal populations. In particular, in the nineteenth century, British collectors and
professional biologists alike recognized changes in the wing colouration of moths – with the darker
forms, or melanics, becoming more frequent. This came to be known as the evolutionary
phenomenon of Industrial Melanism and has since received a great deal of interest, particularly as it
is commonly thought to be an excellent example of natural selection in action.
This idea was first presented by Ford (1940) , who hypothesised that melanism might arise in a
population as a result of a mutation and, in polluted areas, was adaptive. As such, individuals with
melanism gained a selective, cryptic advantage and so, through natural selection, melanics rapidly
spread throughout the population, and typical forms declined.
In 1952, Henry Kettlewell was awarded a fellowship to research Industrial Melanism with Ford

Few revolutions, however, have had such sweeping consequences as the Industrial Revolution – smokestacks, steam engines, capitalism and even, natural selection. The advent of the Industrial Revolution saw a number of habitats blackened by industrial soot, as well as changes in animal populations. In particular, in the nineteenth century, British collectors and professional biologists alike recognized changes in the wing colouration of moths – with the darker forms, or melanics, becoming more frequent. This came to be known as the evolutionary phenomenon of Industrial Melanism and has since received a great deal of interest, particularly as it is commonly thought to be an excellent example of natural selection in action. This idea was first presented by Ford (1940) , who hypothesised that melanism might arise in a population as a result of a mutation and, in polluted areas, was adaptive. As such, individuals with melanism gained a selective, cryptic advantage and so, through natural selection, melanics rapidly spread throughout the population, and typical forms declined.
