the year 2002. The reason we have this technology is that between those years a great change in the
world's history was made. People started to discover faster methods of producing goods, which
increased their economy. However, this industrialization had no effects on society. Society then was
still very poor in some areas, but later on in the future the United States becomes the richest and
most powerful country in the world.

Britain was also the leading trading nation in Europe, which gave their merchants lots of capital. So
as a result they used their capital to invest in textiles, mines railroads and shipbuilding. Britain also
had a large colonial empire, which supplied it with raw materials for their factories. In addition
people in the colonies bought finished goods produced by British industry. Also the government
encouraged industrial growth, it lifted restrictions on trade, it encouraged road– and canal– building,
and it maintained a strong navy to protect British merchant ships all over the world.

It created this culture of treating workers unfairly and unjustly. A culture that is okay to treat
workers the way John Wright displayed how kids were treated. It created a culture of sending kids to
work at a young age where it is unsafe and not healthy. A culture of long work days and weeks in

The industrialization created a lot of wealth for the business owners and also as a byproduct
increased the standard of living for consumers allowing the government to increase taxes without

looking to set up another new factory in Bangladesh. This report investigates and examines the basic
considerations for a factory set up, then makes recommendations on these findings in order to
provide the management team with the tools required to ensure a smooth factory start up. The

All of the different impacts from the Industrial Revolution has shaped how the work place and
conditions are today. The industrial Revolution was the shift from home and hand made production,
to machine and factory production of goods. It helped produce goods faster and cheaper. The
Industrial Revolution began in the early 18th century in England before spreading to all of Europe,
Asia, and soon North America. It impacted nearly every facet of society, economics, philosophy,

for hundreds of years, is not fit for our generations of 2015. This is what Ken Robinson was trying
to covey in his lecture "Changing Education Paradigms". He first states that the two main reasons
the education system needs to change are economic and cultural. The economy is much more global
now than it was back then, and educating our children on how to take their place in the economy.
Cultural because today having a cultural identity is hard when conforming and being standardized is
what society is taught. He goes on to state that our education system was built around a time of the
enlightenment and with the economic standing of the industrial revolution. School is boring to
children now because of all the distractions of technology and entertainment, why would a child
want to give that up to learn something they don't care about? Robinson was aiming this lecture at
the older generations, when they had the mentality that if they went to school they would get a
college degree and then get a job. These are the people that have children in the education system
and have a voice on the change of education. Robinson thinks we need to move in the opposite
direction of standardization in order to improve the future of education.

are dehumanized from their first graded assignment, their first report card, the first time they step
into school until they graduate. At that point, they are completely stripped of critical thinking and
creativity and see learning only as memorization for a test. There seems to be no meaning beyond
the face value of what teachers say and possibly less. All that is needed is to memorize word for
word what the teacher says. They don't perceive "what four times four really means, or realizing the
true significance of "capital" in the affirmation "the capital of Pará is Belem," that is, what Belem
means for Pará and what Pará means for Brazil" (240). Freire introduces the banking system as the
cause of dehumanization, but it is not the system in general that causes it. It is the use of grading.
They are used to measure the value and intelligence of students, so this is all students focus on. They

The Lowell factory was an experiment into an alternative way of running a factory where both the
workers and owners could benefit equally. One of the most major points to be made is that most, if
not all, of the workers were female. The factory consisted of the manufacturing area, the dorms, and
the facilities for the workers. The facilities included places such as lecture halls and schools for their
education. This was all supposed to facilitate a place for a life of work as well as learning. However,
for multiple reasons, this may not have been the case. Three different sources have provided
different accounts of factory life.
All three authors held varying opinions on life in the Lowell factory and only on few points did they
agree about certain aspects of factory life. Given that one of the authors was, in fact, a worker, the
opinions given are not just from outsiders looking in, but also from those who know the internals of
the system. With this information, conclusions could be made which explore parts of factory life,
including how it looked from the outsiders' point of view, what it really felt like on the inside and if
the founders of the Lowell factory accomplished their goal of benefitting themselves as well as the
workers.

The cotton manufacture of Lancashire improved the mannerisms and habits of workers according to
Richard Guest. The close proximity between workers sparked conversations on a variety of topics
that previously were seemingly unimportant. Sunday schools were established to improve the
literacy of lower workers and allowed men to think for themselves. For the working class, the
industrial revolution gave a small improvement in the standards of living but also a loss of control.
Working harder did not equal an increase in pay, but more often than not, wage cuts because the

The Jungle by Upton Sinclair details the life of a Lithuanian immigrant named Jurgis, in the late
1800's. In the novel, Jurgis and his family immigrate to America in order to find prosperity and
follow the "American Dream". However, upon reaching reaching America, they face many trials and
tribulations. Foremost, no one in the family is able to speak English, as well as being poor
immigrants that are easily taken advantage of by society. Initially, Jurgis tries to keep his head up
and tries through his own work to succeed, but as the events of the novel unfold, we see him tore

in which he lived. In the end, Jurgis believed that the capitalistic society that he lived in was against

At the end of the eighteenth century, the 'modern' factory system appeared in England (More, 2014).
The effects of the system were so quickly felt that it has been compared to a revolution. Few
revolutions, however, have had such sweeping consequences as the Industrial Revolution –
