Over 1 billion people do not have access to clean water and over 2.6 billion people do not have adequate sanitation. In India, one person dies from water-borne disease every minute. Some strategies that can be used to improve access to clean water in less economically developed countries include developing technologies to make filthy water drinkable, implementing playpump water systems, and distributing life straw water filters. Conservation of water and improved transportation of water through aqueducts are also recommended.
