doesn't stand out as much as
you would think to promote
her song. The cover is very
simple, there is just a picture

only a window for any light.
This is simple and plain yet
very effective to the target
audience and could be to do
with the reason that she was
new to the music industry at
the time, and she didn’t want
to give off a bad/over the top
impression.
Jessie J may of chosen to have a dark background so that the
photo of her stands out and that the audience only see her
rather than other things all around her. This is effective as
we are getting to know who she is and what she is all about.
The fact that she is in a dark room, represents the song and video
as it could in fact be the room that her video is set in; it suggests
that the song is going to be gritty and edgy as she uses dark
colours for the surroundings. She uses a simple font for the song
title, then her name in an interesting one, which again adds to her
image of being different and standing out from the crowd and all
other artists
She has a bold, red jacket on
for the cover of her song;
suggesting she is a very big
character and bold. The
jacket tells us that she is very
unique in everything that she
does in her life. Her wearing
a bright red jacket also
relates back to her song 'Do
it like a Dude' as that is very
'unique' and different to
others on the charts, yet
telling us that she doesn’t
mind being different and that
is in fact the image she
wants to be per trade with.

3. Bruno Mars' album cover for his
song 'The Lazy Song' is very
interesting. The album cover shows
him with a monkey mask on, which
links to the music video as if you
have watched it you would know
that there are many different people
that dance around in the background
with masks on that of monkeys. The
song refers to him being lazy, hence
the title of the song and also the
cover. He is shown laying down on
a bed and looks relaxed and has
nothing else to do, which is
basically in the lyrics.
The image of him wearing a
monkey mask shows that as
an artist, he wants to be
different and stand out from
the crowd as he isn’t the same
as other artists that are
established in the music
industry. He is wearing a
monkey mask which could be
seen as a disguise yet its like
he thinks his fans would
automatically know who he
is.
This album cover doesn't really have a colour scheme, it is just plain black and white
this could be to show that he is trying to bring back the old school album covers. Even
though that this is a plain, boring album cover, it is very effective as people will
instantly see a man wearing a monkey mask, and question it. The monkeys in the music
video are dressed up identically as he is in the album cover; this could mean that they
are showing us the audience his true personality 'the real him' with out him actually
suggesting it.

4. The artists in Maroon 5 seems quite content in the album cover, apart
from the main singer (in the middle) and this could be seen that he is
trying to portray his specific feelings throughout the song/video. The
main singer in the video and band is standing in the middle with his
sleeves rolled up showing off his tattoos, this automatically tells us that
he is different and whats to stand out over the rest of the band. This
shows that he is unique and edgy to people that don’t know much about
the band that well.

ideas and conventions
that they tried to express
in the music video. The
atmosphere in the music
video is very depressing
and bleak, as he is trying
to save a young lady
from the fire and whats
going on around, which
is completely different to
what is shown on the
album cover as they
seem happy, and the
cartoons behind of them
seem like they're having
fun and are normally
very bubbly, happy
people.

unique idea and could be a way
of drawing their fans in,
showing them what their
personalitys are really like, and
even though that payphone is a
sad, depressing song, that
they're a really fun, happy, cool

I don’t think that there is a huge link between the video and the album
cover as this is very bright yet the video is dark, scary and shows the
main artists in a bad place and in a bad way.

their name, without the whole band members
