1. I’ve researched some fonts that are
conventional to the horror genre.
They have similar style but maybe
different connotations.
2. Font of ‘PARALYSIS’
This font type is fairly simple with
just a little texture within, which
will not connote a gothic-like-
theme film to audience (at least I
don’t).
The thickness and the letters
especially the ‘A’ is like a child’s
handwriting which connotes the
main character of the horror film is
a child
This is the most ‘epic’ font type
amongst the ones I’ve researched
as I think its different style of each
letter has an obvious and strong
connotation of a horror film
However some of the styles
especially ‘P’ and ‘I’, they sort of
connote goths or disgust e.g. SAW.
Therefore it may not well suit the
topic of supernatural.
3. This font type is relatively simple
comparing to the other fonts that I’ve
chosen. The gradual fade at the end of
each letter connotes the incapability to
finish a proper writing, like being
paralysed and unable to move.
However, the incomplete endings also
show scratches and physical harm, which
Audience may easily associate this may connote slasher or monsters instead
font type with horror genre due to its of supernatural
irregularity and different sizes of
letters with some of them flipped the
other way round. Also the ECG-like
line in the middle of the letters also
connote the fast and irregular
heartbeat, which means that the film
is fast-paced and thrilling.
However, again, they are also
scartches-like, therfore audience might
relate it with gothic horror rather than
supernatural.
4. Soooo…
After analysing the 4 font types that I’ve chosen.
These 2 fonts are able to connote a horror films in terms of a supernatural
subgenre as firstly they are fairly simple. Secondly they fit into our main
character which is either a boy or girl with their child-handwrite style.
