2. HOUSE STYLE
• It means the body of
conventions followed by
a publisher.
• In our coursework we will
base our house style on
‘Empire’, one of the major
film magazine in the UK
3. LAYOUT
• The layout of Empire is usually
based on the topic film
• Here, the layout of ‘Happy
Potter’ is relatively busier than
that of ‘The Dark Knight’
• As ‘The Dark Knight’ is more of
a horror than ‘Harry Potter’
where the cover photo is a
close up of an ‘evil’
appearance, it is better to
keep the layout minimal (less
coverlines; simplistic colour
scheme) in order to allow
audience to put most of their
attention on it
4. • The masthead obviously will
not be the same style of the
splash which is our film
name as they are not
directly related
• However, this logo has been
designed to easily fit into the
style of the magazine
• As well as the font and for
example, colour gradient of
our film title on the
magazine
5. MAIN IMAGE
• According to our research, our main image of the
magazine will definitely be following conventions
1. Low key lighting
2. Filtered with blue tint
3. Direct address of actor
4. Possibly medium shot or medium close up
