2. Costume
The genre of our video is
pop. Most artists in pop
videos are dressed up in
fashionable, stylish and
mainstream clothes, that
are the latest trends. In
our video we styled the
artist with a patterned
top and skirt, topped
with a trendy denim
jacket and a parka coat.
A lot of female
teenagers today wear
these outfits to keep up
with the latest
fashions. Rihanna is one
of the biggest fashion
icons for teenage girls
today.
3. Mood
Artists actions are
happy, lively and
fun. The artists
mood is expressed
through her facial
expressions. We
showed this happy,
lively and fun vibe
by having the artist
smile and have fun
throughout the
video. There is a lot
of joy shown when
the artist runs
around the field
with the smoke
grenade. This shot
shows our artist as
being free and fun,
similar to many pop
videos today.
5. Editing on the beat
Cutting on the beat is a rule that almost every music video will
follow, whatever the genre, as it emphasises the tempo of the song.
For example at the start of the video we matched the visuals of the
artist banging a drum to the drum beat of the song. Furthermore,
we edited short montage clips of jump cuts that were edited to the
fast drumbeat before the chorus. I feel this was a strong add to our
video. We also made the lip syncing in good timing, which is very
important to do well as if it is done in the wrong timing it is easily
noticeable and appears unprofessional.
6. Theme
Most music videos stick
to a theme throughout
and I feel the theme of
our video is nature.
The whole video is shot
in a park which
conveys the core of
nature: grass, trees
and plants. We also
used natural lighting to
emphasise the nature
aspect of the setting.
Moreover, the artists
hair and make-up was
simple and kept to a
minimal to match the
element of nature.
