1. How effective is
the combination
of your main
product and
ancillary texts?
Evaluation Q2
2. My A2 media studies coursework
required me to make a film to go
together with an ancillary task of
making a film poster and radio
trailer for the film. My films genre
is a thriller. These ancillary tasks
will help the film expand the
audience and attract then
keeping the audience engaged
and interested in the film.
3. After researching and annotation a
real film poster (I researched the
poster for Inception) the purpose of a
poster became clear to me and the
purpose is to advertise the film
through the title, the images
portrayed, the actors’ names, the
design/colours and tagline. Using
these elements to make the poster
sellable, attractive and connected
with the other production.

4. My Poster Analysis
Name of the
main actors.
This is to get
the attention
of the target
audience.
The background of the
poster is a scene from the
movie. This gives the
audience a hint as to
what they should expect
to see in the film.
The photograph is
symbolic to the film.
The title in capitalised,
white font catches your
attention as soon as you
look at the poster.
This gives the important
detail that the targeted
audience needs to know.
This small logo instantly
lets you know where the
production will be being
showed.
5. Poster Analysis
Even though the film poster is simple, I
believe its quite effective because it
attracts the audience and is
associated with the film radio trailer.
This is mainly done through the
telephone box being symbolic to the
story line. It is a central image and is
the first thing you look at when you
see the poster, thus catching the eye
of the audience.
6. My Radio Trailer
My radio trailer was made by
recording a class student read out
what is said and placing sound clips
over the top. The two sound clips that
I chose were the telephone ringing
and the gun shot. I believe that these
two sounds make an impact on the
audience as it will entice them and
get them interesting in the film
production. You can view the radio
trailer on my blog.
