Softball: Fondest Memories and Most Valuable Lessons
Nothing in the world can compare to the thrill of placing your feet into the batter's box, with bases
loaded, the whole crowd chanting your name, and the pressure being all on you to execute the
winning hit of the game. Slowly, you begin to forget about the 100–degree weather, you block out
the noise, and focus solely on the one goal in mind; achieving this win not only for yourself, but
your whole team as well. Your batting gloves clench around your bat, anticipating the pitch coming
your way. As the ball comes closer and closer, it meets your bat as you scorch the ball directly down
the left field line. The baserunners begin to run at the crack of the bat, as one runner easily scores to

Chandler begin playing at age 8, and quite honestly did it to please her parents who have always
loved the game as well. As the games began and the bonds began to form, many coaches began to
recognize her immeasurable potential as an athlete. At age 11, she began to recognize her potential
and hesitantly joined a competitive A class travel ball team, Riptide 99, and soon her hard–work and
determination began to pay off. What was intended to only be a way to branch out and help her
improve her skills, turned into a team that became family and remained together for seven years. As
a great friend and teammate of mine, Chandler states, "The years on this team not only molded me
into the softball player I am today, but granted me the greatest memories of my life along with
friendships that I know will last forever." Within our softball team, so many friendships and
memories were made, allowing us to still keep in touch to this day although a few years have passed
since we have gotten the opportunity to see everyone. In high school, Chandler attended one of the
more elite private schools here in Tuscaloosa, American Christian Academy, impressing many
people and continuously excelling. "Many of our accomplishments such as winning the area
tournament and placing in the state tournament, would not have been possible without the
leadership, grit and determination of Chandler Wyatt." says Hanna Sartain, a longtime friend and
teammate of mine as well as

Grambling State Research Paper
Softball Loses Pair at NCAA Division I Grambling State GRAMBLING, La. – The Ladies softball
team fell in the first game, 6–3, before Centenary (3–11) lost the nightcap to Grambling State (8–16)
in a wild, 13–12, 8–inning affair Tuesday, March 14. With Centenary leading game two 10–8 in the
top of the seventh, sophomore Kylie Bradley blasted the first pitch she saw over the leftfield fence.
However, Grambling State answered with three runs of its own to tie the game. With one out,
McKenzie Johnson homered and Kenyshae Beasley singled. She stole second and scored on
Mercedes Williams double. Tia Coleman followed with the game–tying single, but did not advance
past first after sophomore Mackenzie Stewart struck out the final two hitters. With the international
tie–breaking rule in effect in the eighth and a runner placed on second, freshman Haley Campbell hit
a sacrifice bunt to advance sophomore Payton LeBlanc to third. Junior Anna Dunn singled home the
run and was replaced by junior pinch runner Kelsey Ancelot. She stole second, and looked to score
when senior Mallory Ford singled. However, Ancelot was thrown out at the plate to end the inning.

Essay On First Home Run
My First Home Run I walked up to home plate nervous because my grandfather was in the stands
watching for the first time, but I took a deep breath, tightened my grip on the bat, and stepped into
the batter's box. The pitcher looked at me and smiled he had to think I was going to be easy, but I
wasn't going to give in without fight. He took a quick glance at the runner on second, and boom the
fast ball came in so fast I didn't even know he threw it. Now I was shaking. The pitcher had the
upper hand, but I looked at my dad who with his eyes said to me "you can do this" so once again I
took a deep breath, tightened my grip, and stepped back into the batter's box. The pitcher throws the
ball hard as I load up and swing hard, but the ball curves

Personal Narrative: Waking Up The Right Fielder
"Next up the right fielder Auuuuusstin Meeeehhhhrrrr" belows out of the speakers at full blast as I
approach the plate. Feeling loose I ease into the batter's box sinking my cleats deep into the soft dirt
where I can get a solid stance. Stretching my bat across the plate showing the pitcher how much
reach I have tempting him to throw one in the zone. Weight is on my back leg as I slowly bounce the
bat in my hands anticipating the first pitch. The pitcher begins his windup and I stop moving the bat
and focus on the ball. Before all this happened I woke up in bed just like any other day. Except this
day wasn't just any other day it was the day of my very first varsity game my junior year. Weather
was cool with a warm breeze that seems to sing through the trees as it passes by. We play Dassel

Brock hits a single right up the gut that gets our team on our feet instantly. Brett grounds out to the
third basemen but advances Brock to second base. Now it's my turn as I await the sign from the
third base coach who gives me a sign but has no meaning. Which means I get to do my thing and
hopefully get on base or better yet hit Brock in to put up some runs before I go out and pitch. He
throws the first two in the dirt not giving me a good look on either but puts me in a good position
because he needs to throw a strike. Sure enough he wails another right in the inside corner where I
drove it vigorously through the infield and skipped it to the centerfielder. Brock rounds third and
heads for home and the relay the ball to the catcher not in time as Brock slides through the chalk
foul line sending a cloud of dirt in the air. Even from first base I had to squint as the cloud shifted
over but it didn't bother me one bit because the umpire hollered "Safe" which meant we were up

Personal Narrative: Mentally Insane
I thought it was a costume party. But, it wasn't, it was the big end of the year party. It was the last
day of school, and the teachers were throwing a huge party at the middle school to celebrate.
Everyone was there, Bob, Joe, Jeff, even Jimmy was there. Not many people talk to Jimmy because
some say he went mentally insane. Joe and Bob are my best friends. I've known them since
kindergarten. Anyway, when I got the invitation in the mail I thought it was a costume party. But,
when I got there, I was in my zombie costume. Derek was in the corner cracking up. Derek was also
one of my friends. But today, he was just in the corner of the room sketching a picture of a tiger. He

I was in Mr. Medica's class, and everyone wants to be in his class. Some say that he is the best
teacher in the whole school. Even better, all of my friends were in my class. As the school year went
on, it got even better. I had straight A's in every class, and got honor roll three quarters in a row! On
the last day of school, Mr. Medica announced to the class the names of the best students in the class.
And guess who was number one on the list, me. All my friends and I were the best students in the
class and we were all overjoyed. When we got to high school we were actually pretty nervous. "
This is going to be the best year ever", yelled Jeff.Sadly, the beginning of the year was anything but
great.By the end of the first quarter, I had all C's and D's in all of my classes. Every day my teacher
would yell at me, " you're not in Kansas anymore, you are in my classroom. And by the end of this
year, you're going to wish that you never made it to high school." I really needed to get my grades
up. So, from that day forward, I tried as hard as I could to get the best grades I could possibly get.
And by the end of the year, I got my grades up to all A's in every class. Years later, when all my
friends and I were finally going to college, we were ready. We got good grades, made more friends,
and went to plenty of cool parties. Everything was going great, until one day. We were starting class

The Game Over-Personal Narrative
Down by one, two outs and it is the last time up to bat for the Wildcats. If we lose we will go home,
but that is not what I am focusing on, right now, all thoughts are on the next pitch. With a runner on
first and second, a hit to the outfield could tie the game. A bad pitch, maybe. A lucky shot, maybe.
As the bat hits the ball, a silent focus turns to screaming and jumping. A ball hit about a foot off the
right field line, fair, brings in our first runner with ease. A wave of relief sweeps over the whole third
base side of the field. Our cheering distracted the other team, maybe. The tie upset them, maybe.
Just a well–placed ball, maybe. Unseen through the excitement, there is a player rounding third
heading home for the win. A ball thrown too late. A headfirst dive through the catcher's legs. There
is screaming from the third base side as the umpires arms stretch out parallel to the ground. Game
over.

Trust me when I tell you that not every game has been as exciting as a walk off win. The big win
that comes at the end of a tournament or an exciting game is really the product of months of long
and mostly repetitive practices. It is like a concert at the end of weeks or months of practicing, or a
play at the end of countless rehearsals. Without that practice, even the most skilled players would
never get to the final day of a tournament, would not feel that same exhaustion after the final play of
the day. I learned this through years of my father taking me out the field or in the backyard to
practice. Despite my complaints, he never budged and always got me to practice. Looking back
now, the only reason I was even moderately successful, the only reason I became the starting pitcher
for my team was the constant work put in because of my father's pressuring. A simple, every day,
fun activity, though seemingly unimportant at

How to Become an Effective Hitter Essay
How to Become an Effective Hitter
Babe Ruth is known for his 714 home runs. However, few people realize the other statistic he holds,
which is having the most strikeouts of any player in the major league. This statistic helps to prove
there is only a slight difference between a good hit and a strike. To become a good hitter in baseball,
three fundamentals are necessary. First, the batter's stance in the batter's box, second, the batter's eye
contact on the ball, and third, the batter's swing are the three fundamentals a good hitter will
possess.
First, a good stance in the batter's box is required to hit the ball successfully. The stance is not only
important to the hitter, but it informs the defense of the location of ... Show more content on

The knees should not be locked but slightly bent. For example, when I hit, I usually foul a ball down
the first or third base line so the outfielders move accordingly. In our final game of the season
against Middle Georgia College in Cochran when I played softball in college, however, the right
fielder was positioned way off the first base line towards second base. She was reading my even
stance as I was trying to hit the ball up the middle or over second base. She was wrong. At the last
minute, I changed my stance as the ball was coming and hit it right down the first base line. A good
stance is important to becoming a productive hitter.
Second, no matter how perfect the stance, unless a batter has good eye contact, a high batting
average will never be possible. A pitcher can put a large number of different spins on the ball. For
example, the curve ball, the slider, the fast ball, and the knuckle ball move differently. A batter needs
to watch the ball from the time the pitcher releases it until the batter brings the bat around and
through the ball. A batter cannot hit the ball unless one knows what direction the ball is traveling.
Sally, a teammate at Macon College in 1993, was always striking out because at the last minute
before swinging the bat she would close her eyes. After being convinced she could keep her eyes
open while swinging, she was able to hit a game–winning double in our final game of the

My Dream Of A Baseball Dream
On Returning: A baseball dream
I am on my way to the New England Baseball Complex in Manchester. It is early August, and the
end of the regular season. It has been an unusually lengthy season and I am ready for it to be finally
over. I have traveled all over New England and have visited many different states. Baseball is my
first sport, the sport I focus on the most throughout the year. Baseball has always been my favorite
sport ever since I was little. My dad taught me to play when I was around 6 and I have played
extensively every year since. I looked up to my brother a lot growing up and I remember playing
with him when I got home from school. My family was always there for me and always was around
to help me do what I wanted to do. It has been my goal to play in college and get a scholarship. This
summer I took my first step toward reaching that goal by competing in many tournaments where I
can get exposure to the colleges.
This tournament had many college coaches from across New England. There are a lot of good teams
and players and it was important to stand out to the coaches. The last 2 games we had were a double
header and I had to catch both games in 100 degree weather. I did it because it was something I
could do to show toughness and standout. We lost the first game and won the second game. We
made the playoffs and are seeded in 4th. It is the playoff game of the tournament. We played really
good so far going 3–1–0 on the weekend. I was doing alright throughout

Fast Pitch Softball Is A Game
Never knowing what pitch is going to come next is always an adrenaline rush while standing in the
batters box. Fast pitch softball is a game that has physically and mentally changed my life for the
past eleven years. It involves two teams, one who is home and the other who is away. The game
consists of seven innings on a softball diamond. There is an upper half and lower half of each
inning. The upper half begins with the home team on the field, consisting of nine players in the
appropriate positions, and the away team at the plate batting with only nine to ten people in the
roster. Offense is a major key to win a game. Making contact with the ball is probably the most
difficult and frustrating thing in the world, because you just never know where the pitch is going to
end up. There are many techniques to hitting, but we need to get down to the basics first. Since I was
eights years old, I've been hitting a ball off a Tee. Sometimes it becomes repetitive and boring, but
stepping into a live batters box is where all of that hard work comes into play. Growing up, my
parents would always find someone to give me lessons or find a travel team that seemed to be a
good fit for me. I was fortunate to have parents to push me to become a better athlete and support
me at all of my sporting events. I've had several, and I mean several, batting, pitching, and fielding
lessons. Because of my ability to quickly learn something after seeing it done once, I picked up how

How To Play Softball Essay
Hit of a life time.
Blood, sweat, and tears is all about softball. It is about the bond that is made with the team, along
with the opponents. Bring girl's together for one sport, and playing to win. It's a dedication that you
sacrifice to for the hours of practice, injuries, sweating, and love for the game.
Up to bat for the team, anxiety is running through the blood. Standing with bat in hand, helmet on,
and game ready. Batter vs. the opposite team. All of a sudden, the batter swings and the ball flies.
The giant yellow ball gets lost in the sun and disappears. Biggest rule in softball is to never watch
the ball. Running is the automatic thought. That moment is the feeling of victory.

Descriptive Essay On A Game At A Volleyball Game
Michigan Tech Volleyball Game
The ball whipped through the air, echoing through the gym like the snap from a leather whip.
Lauren, our libero, had served. I glanced at the flashing scoreboard and winced at the score: 21–23.
The other team had received the ball and were ready to set their outside hitter. Their hitter made a
lightning fast approach and the ball spun through the air over to our side, aimed right at me.
This was my first volleyball camp at Michigan Tech University this summer and I was ready.
Coaches sorted us into teams, taught us some intermediate skills revolving around the technique of
the game, and scrimmaging from time to time. My team leader was Ali Gerring, a recent graduate
from Kingsford. We did bump–set–spike drills and six different rotations to get ready for our big
scrimmage the next day. You could see the sweat glistening on our faces, and smell the hard
determination to improve. You could hear players call for the ball at every court yelling, "Mine,
mine mine!"
At every practice there were different stations specializing in hitting (spiking), digging (bumping),
and setting. We peppered with partners at some stations and practiced serving at others. Our
forearms were turning scarlet from digging so many balls and our necks started to ache after craning
our necks so many times setting the ball. We had to pick which position we wanted to play in the
game and I picked outside hitter (player that spikes) because I wanted to be the one that would

Personal Narrative
Spring rolled around and it was finally time for the first t–ball game of the season. The dandelions
were sprouting and the bees were buzzing in the outfield. All twelve players showed up but only half
of the team was there to play ball. It was hard to expect six–year olds to have much of an attention
span anyway. The ball was hit and began to roll for the outfield. At this very moment the team of
twelve became divided. This division separated the team players from the self–servers. Little did I
know that my first time on the field would mark the beginning of something so big and influential in
my life. Sports have always played a huge role in defining who I am as a person. When asked to
describe myself, one of the first things that come to mind is a "sports enthusiast." It is not until
recently that I learned there was a deeper meaning to this description I once used to label myself. I
found that my love for sports was a direct reflection of the word teamwork and the impact that this
simple term had on my character. The first day I stepped on to that field the importance of being a
team player was introduced. At six years old this concept can seem out of reach, but as I grew older
and wiser I began to better understand that my desire for being a team player was something special.

It was a hot summer day in Hammond, Louisiana and I was pouring down sweat like I had just
jumped in a pool. The game was just about to begin, me and my team was eagle eyeing the bomb
squad. It was so quiet that you could hear your own sweat hitting the bench. The umpire broke up
everyone's concentration by saying, "play ball"! The defense had ran out on the field and I started
rolling ground balls from 2nd to short–stop to third base. They had all made good throws back to me
and then I threw the ball into the dug–out because the game had begun. Nate had threw the first
pitch. Wackk. They had hit the ball right back to me and I ran touched first base. I threw the ball
back to Nate to pitch it again and Crack They had hit a sky rocket and it can soring down like and

Cespedes is up and he has been 3–3 there is a good chance for him to get on base. The pitch was
thrown to him and he hit it went so high up and the ball was still carrying but it finally came down
and the outfielder Ben Revere caught the ball. One more out for the Washington Nationals and they
win. But Daniel Murphy is up, now it is a harder out for the Nationals but their closing pitcher is
doing great this inning. Daniel hit the ball it was a grounder to first the second basement took his

Fastball Research Paper
The Science of Hitting a Major League Fastball You might think that hitting a baseball is pretty easy
– just keep your eye on the ball and swing. Yet while it sounds pretty straightforward, there is so
much physics that goes into hitting a baseball. When you consider all the aspects, getting a base hit
is actually mind–blowing. These powerful bullets spin twenty times a second, traveling at speeds of
more than 90 mph. The mound (where the ball is thrown from) is 60 feet and 6 inches from the
batter (who is trying to hit the ball). The average fastball passes through this area within ½ to ⅓ of a
second. That basically means the batter has to evaluate the pitch, decide whether or not to swing,
and apply his decision.
"According to Dr. Glenn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the reasons...is the shape of the baseball; the baseball is cork, wrapped around by a cowhide,
with stitches holding it all together. The stitches have an important impact on a baseball's path as
they create additional friction with the air.
Fastballs can rotate at up to 1200 rpm and differential pressure is created around the ball as it
rotates, exerting a force on the baseball, and changing its path. That is called The Magnus Force. A
forward–upward spin causes lower pressure above the baseball that slows the drop of a baseball. On
the other hand, a forward –downward spin causes higher pressure above the baseball increasing the
ball's drop to the ground.
Now that we know what the pitcher is capable of doing, it is time to see how the hitter will
overcome the monstrous arm they will face. You need good eyesight, concentration, and experience.
The batter will need 50 milliseconds to evaluate the location and speed of an incoming pitch. If the
swing is 7 milliseconds early or 7 milliseconds late, that's could be the difference between a base hit,
and a foul ball. That's tough to do, especially with a round baseball and a round bat, but each bat
does have a sweet spot. The sweet spot is where ball will receive the maximum momentum from the
bat. The bat will compress to ½ of its normal thickness, when the ball is hit squarely, (but that
contact with the ball and the bat will only last 1/1000th of a second). A normal

North Americ The World For Its Excellent Professional Sports
Layne Greeson
Introduction
North America is known around the world for its excellent professional sports. Athletes from around
the world come to the North America with the dream of becoming a professional athlete in their
respective sport. Organized professional baseball in North America was developed in 1876 with the
creation of the American League (AL). In 1901 the National League (NL) was formed in order to
compete with the AL hence Major League Baseball (MLB) was born. From 1901 till now Major
League Baseball has grown into a multi–billion dollar industry consisting of 30 MLB teams residing
primarily in the United States with one team in Canada. The AL consists of 15 teams split into three
separate divisions. The NL also consists of 15 teams split into three separate divisions. MLB teams
compete in a 162 game season in order to determine which 10 teams, five from each league, will
compete in an end of the season tournament and have a chance to win a World Series which is the
most prestigious award an MLB team can accomplish. With this goal in mind MLB teams attempt to
hire world class athletes in order to produce a winning team which in turn generates revenue.
Baseball is statistical driven sport more than any other because the game is structured in a way that
allows for easy comparison of players performance through the use of statistical aspects. Baseball
teams pay athletes based on their statistical performance such as the number of homeruns they hit,

Hitting a Baseball: Is It the Hardest Thing to Do in All...
Have you ever wondered how baseball players are able to crush 400 foot homeruns? It takes years
and years to perfect a baseball swing to be able to do that. Swinging a bat and hitting a baseball is a
lot more difficult than most people think. The pros make it look so easy because they have to perfect
many mechanics just to hit a ball hard on the sweet spot of the bat. "Hitting is the single most
difficult thing to do in sport." this coming from Ted Williams, one of the greatest hitters of all time.
Hitting a baseball requires more mechanical precision compared to other sports (Williams). When
baseball first started, the scores would be very low because no one knew how important the
mechanics of the baseball swing were. This period of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Linear hitting really got started when the bats got lighter and the handles got skinnier. When this
change occurred, it made it easier to shorten a player's swing so he could reach the ball faster. This
method also became more popular because it is easy to learn and to replicate. More young hitters are
now using it because it teaches a player to get his power from his hands, wrists, and arms. But most
kids have problems with this way of thinking because they are looking to hit homeruns. So instead,
they drop their hands, swing hard, and then hit the ball straight up. Linear hitting really focuses on
getting your hands to the ball and through the ball to make good contact (Jones). The big strong
hitters today that look to try and pull the ball and hit for power use the hitting philosophy called
rotational hitting. Rotational hitting is turning and pulling the ball. Most of the hitters who use
rotational hitting usually do not have high averages. Rotational hitting teaches using your body,
mainly the core, to generate more power. The whole goal of rotational hitting is just trying to hit the
ball harder. Mike Epstein is most associated with the rotational philosophy and made it popular. If a
player is just looking to hit the ball harder and farther, he should probably try rotational hitting
(Epstein). Through time, the method of hitting has changed a lot. The two main hitting styles are
linear and rotational hitting. From 1920 to 1975, rotational hitting was

Tactics Of Table Tennis
Tactics
Table tennis tactics
In table tennis there are many tactics that you can try to outwit or gain an advantage on your
opponents. They are important and if a tactic does not work use a new or similar sever.
Tactics
Make sure to vary your serves like the
Topspin. Topspin on the ball makes it drop quicker so if someone is playing a distance from the
table use this so this can't in and hit the ball.
Stay close to the table so you can get to the ball quick and hit it back towards your opponents. Play
if opponent use short severs.
The speed of how quick the ball if this is increased it will throw the opponent off guard and
eventually will slip up because of the speed of the severs (lower is better so they can't use attacking
shots.) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Launch Angle Research Paper
Understanding Launch Angle and Why Hitters are Employing It
Meta Description – A launch angle in baseball measures the vertical angle of the ball as it meets the
bat. Launch angles range from under ten degrees for ground balls to 50 degrees or more for pop–
ups. MLB statistics show that the best launch angles for batters are 19 to 26 degrees. These angles
result in more hits and homers.
A launch angle, in baseball, is the vertical angle measurement of the ball when it leaves a player's
bat. These measurements vary depending on how hard the bat contacts the ball.
Analysts can figure out a hitter's viability by averaging their launch angle from all his at–bats.
However, launch angles are also used to discuss pitchers, and what type of contact the average batter

This classification was created by Tom Tango, a baseball and hockey statistical analyst.
A ball must have a speed of 98 mph (exit velocity) when it leaves the bat and any ball struck at that
speed with a 26–30 degree launch angle is classified as barreled. The launch angle degree rises at
speeds over 98 mph.
When the speed of the ball increases to 100 mph or more, the launch angle goes up by two or three
degrees until there's an exit velocity of 116 mph. At that point, a ball with a launch angle of eight to
50 degrees is classified as barreled.
Balls classified as barreled during the MLB's 2016 season had a slugging percentage of 2.386 and an
.822 batting average.
Softball Barrels
A batted ball in softball belongs is barreled when the exit velocity is 67 mph or more and the launch
angle is between 20 and 38 degrees. Most softball fields have a fence that's between 200 and 220
feet. When the fence is farther away, the ball needs to be hit harder and the launch angle has a
smaller window of

control my emotions because if not it would affect the results. I was able to transfer this into my
everyday life, by controlling my emotions better I was able to stay out of trouble, get better grades,
and realize how important the relationships are that I have with my friends and family. Getting
blown out by a team is one of the most upsetting feelings in baseball. While your team sits in the
dugout with their tails between their legs, just wishing the game was over, and the other team is is
acting like a child in a candy store. This taught me to enjoy the little things in life. Even though the
game isn't going the way I want it to, I should enjoy the fact that I'm doing something I love. I have
implemented this into my life in many ways, and it has allowed me to be the right guy, at the right

  • 1. Softball Lessons Softball: Fondest Memories and Most Valuable Lessons Nothing in the world can compare to the thrill of placing your feet into the batter's box, with bases loaded, the whole crowd chanting your name, and the pressure being all on you to execute the winning hit of the game. Slowly, you begin to forget about the 100–degree weather, you block out the noise, and focus solely on the one goal in mind; achieving this win not only for yourself, but your whole team as well. Your batting gloves clench around your bat, anticipating the pitch coming your way. As the ball comes closer and closer, it meets your bat as you scorch the ball directly down the left field line. The baserunners begin to run at the crack of the bat, as one runner easily scores to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chandler begin playing at age 8, and quite honestly did it to please her parents who have always loved the game as well. As the games began and the bonds began to form, many coaches began to recognize her immeasurable potential as an athlete. At age 11, she began to recognize her potential and hesitantly joined a competitive A class travel ball team, Riptide 99, and soon her hard–work and determination began to pay off. What was intended to only be a way to branch out and help her improve her skills, turned into a team that became family and remained together for seven years. As a great friend and teammate of mine, Chandler states, "The years on this team not only molded me into the softball player I am today, but granted me the greatest memories of my life along with friendships that I know will last forever." Within our softball team, so many friendships and memories were made, allowing us to still keep in touch to this day although a few years have passed since we have gotten the opportunity to see everyone. In high school, Chandler attended one of the more elite private schools here in Tuscaloosa, American Christian Academy, impressing many people and continuously excelling. "Many of our accomplishments such as winning the area tournament and placing in the state tournament, would not have been possible without the leadership, grit and determination of Chandler Wyatt." says Hanna Sartain, a longtime friend and teammate of mine as well as ... With Centenary leading game two 10–8 in the top of the seventh, sophomore Kylie Bradley blasted the first pitch she saw over the leftfield fence. However, Grambling State answered with three runs of its own to tie the game. With one out, McKenzie Johnson homered and Kenyshae Beasley singled. She stole second and scored on Mercedes Williams double. Tia Coleman followed with the game–tying single, but did not advance past first after sophomore Mackenzie Stewart struck out the final two hitters. With the international tie–breaking rule in effect in the eighth and a runner placed on second, freshman Haley Campbell hit a sacrifice bunt to advance sophomore Payton LeBlanc to third. Junior Anna Dunn singled home the run and was replaced by junior pinch runner Kelsey Ancelot. She stole second, and looked to score when senior Mallory Ford singled. However, Ancelot was thrown out at the plate to end the inning. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. Essay On First Home Run My First Home Run I walked up to home plate nervous because my grandfather was in the stands watching for the first time, but I took a deep breath, tightened my grip on the bat, and stepped into the batter's box. The pitcher looked at me and smiled he had to think I was going to be easy, but I wasn't going to give in without fight. He took a quick glance at the runner on second, and boom the fast ball came in so fast I didn't even know he threw it. Now I was shaking. The pitcher had the upper hand, but I looked at my dad who with his eyes said to me "you can do this" so once again I took a deep breath, tightened my grip, and stepped back into the batter's box. The pitcher throws the ball hard as I load up and swing hard, but the ball curves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Personal Narrative: Waking Up The Right Fielder "Next up the right fielder Auuuuusstin Meeeehhhhrrrr" belows out of the speakers at full blast as I approach the plate. Feeling loose I ease into the batter's box sinking my cleats deep into the soft dirt where I can get a solid stance. Stretching my bat across the plate showing the pitcher how much reach I have tempting him to throw one in the zone. Weight is on my back leg as I slowly bounce the bat in my hands anticipating the first pitch. The pitcher begins his windup and I stop moving the bat and focus on the ball. Before all this happened I woke up in bed just like any other day. Except this day wasn't just any other day it was the day of my very first varsity game my junior year. Weather was cool with a warm breeze that seems to sing through the trees as it passes by. We play Dassel Cokato at Dassel as both teams are making their first debut of the season. Brett grounds out to the third basemen but advances Brock to second base. Now it's my turn as I await the sign from the third base coach who gives me a sign but has no meaning. Which means I get to do my thing and hopefully get on base or better yet hit Brock in to put up some runs before I go out and pitch. He throws the first two in the dirt not giving me a good look on either but puts me in a good position because he needs to throw a strike. Sure enough he wails another right in the inside corner where I drove it vigorously through the infield and skipped it to the centerfielder. Brock rounds third and heads for home and the relay the ball to the catcher not in time as Brock slides through the chalk foul line sending a cloud of dirt in the air. • 11. Personal Narrative: Mentally Insane I thought it was a costume party. But, it wasn't, it was the big end of the year party. It was the last day of school, and the teachers were throwing a huge party at the middle school to celebrate. Everyone was there, Bob, Joe, Jeff, even Jimmy was there. Not many people talk to Jimmy because some say he went mentally insane. Joe and Bob are my best friends. I've known them since kindergarten. Anyway, when I got the invitation in the mail I thought it was a costume party. But, when I got there, I was in my zombie costume. Derek was in the corner cracking up. Even better, all of my friends were in my class. As the school year went on, it got even better. I had straight A's in every class, and got honor roll three quarters in a row! On the last day of school, Mr. Medica announced to the class the names of the best students in the class. And guess who was number one on the list, me. All my friends and I were the best students in the class and we were all overjoyed. When we got to high school we were actually pretty nervous. " This is going to be the best year ever", yelled Jeff.Sadly, the beginning of the year was anything but great.By the end of the first quarter, I had all C's and D's in all of my classes. Every day my teacher would yell at me, " you're not in Kansas anymore, you are in my classroom. And by the end of this year, you're going to wish that you never made it to high school." I really needed to get my grades up. So, from that day forward, I tried as hard as I could to get the best grades I could possibly get. And by the end of the year, I got my grades up to all A's in every class. Years later, when all my friends and I were finally going to college, we were ready. We got good grades, made more friends, and went to plenty of cool parties. Everything was going great, until one day. We were starting class for the day and the professor ... • 13. The Game Over-Personal Narrative Down by one, two outs and it is the last time up to bat for the Wildcats. If we lose we will go home, but that is not what I am focusing on, right now, all thoughts are on the next pitch. With a runner on first and second, a hit to the outfield could tie the game. A bad pitch, maybe. A lucky shot, maybe. As the bat hits the ball, a silent focus turns to screaming and jumping. A ball hit about a foot off the right field line, fair, brings in our first runner with ease. A wave of relief sweeps over the whole third base side of the field. Our cheering distracted the other team, maybe. The tie upset them, maybe. Just a well–placed ball, maybe. Unseen through the excitement, there is a player rounding third heading home for the win. A ball thrown too late. A headfirst dive through the catcher's legs. There is screaming from the third base side as the umpires arms stretch out parallel to the ground. Game over. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trust me when I tell you that not every game has been as exciting as a walk off win. The big win that comes at the end of a tournament or an exciting game is really the product of months of long and mostly repetitive practices. It is like a concert at the end of weeks or months of practicing, or a play at the end of countless rehearsals. Without that practice, even the most skilled players would never get to the final day of a tournament, would not feel that same exhaustion after the final play of the day. I learned this through years of my father taking me out the field or in the backyard to practice. Despite my complaints, he never budged and always got me to practice. Looking back now, the only reason I was even moderately successful, the only reason I became the starting pitcher for my team was the constant work put in because of my father's pressuring. • 15. How to Become an Effective Hitter Essay How to Become an Effective Hitter Babe Ruth is known for his 714 home runs. However, few people realize the other statistic he holds, which is having the most strikeouts of any player in the major league. This statistic helps to prove there is only a slight difference between a good hit and a strike. To become a good hitter in baseball, three fundamentals are necessary. First, the batter's stance in the batter's box, second, the batter's eye contact on the ball, and third, the batter's swing are the three fundamentals a good hitter will possess. First, a good stance in the batter's box is required to hit the ball successfully. The stance is not only important to the hitter, but it informs the defense of the location of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The knees should not be locked but slightly bent. For example, when I hit, I usually foul a ball down the first or third base line so the outfielders move accordingly. In our final game of the season against Middle Georgia College in Cochran when I played softball in college, however, the right fielder was positioned way off the first base line towards second base. She was reading my even stance as I was trying to hit the ball up the middle or over second base. She was wrong. At the last minute, I changed my stance as the ball was coming and hit it right down the first base line. A good stance is important to becoming a productive hitter. Second, no matter how perfect the stance, unless a batter has good eye contact, a high batting average will never be possible. A pitcher can put a large number of different spins on the ball. For example, the curve ball, the slider, the fast ball, and the knuckle ball move differently. A batter needs to watch the ball from the time the pitcher releases it until the batter brings the bat around and through the ball. A batter cannot hit the ball unless one knows what direction the ball is traveling. Sally, a teammate at Macon College in 1993, was always striking out because at the last minute before swinging the bat she would close her eyes. After being convinced she could keep her eyes open while swinging, she was able to hit a game–winning double in our final game of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. My Dream Of A Baseball Dream On Returning: A baseball dream I am on my way to the New England Baseball Complex in Manchester. It is early August, and the end of the regular season. It has been an unusually lengthy season and I am ready for it to be finally over. I have traveled all over New England and have visited many different states. Baseball is my first sport, the sport I focus on the most throughout the year. Baseball has always been my favorite sport ever since I was little. My dad taught me to play when I was around 6 and I have played extensively every year since. I looked up to my brother a lot growing up and I remember playing with him when I got home from school. My family was always there for me and always was around to help me do what I wanted to do. It has been my goal to play in college and get a scholarship. This summer I took my first step toward reaching that goal by competing in many tournaments where I can get exposure to the colleges. This tournament had many college coaches from across New England. There are a lot of good teams and players and it was important to stand out to the coaches. The last 2 games we had were a double header and I had to catch both games in 100 degree weather. I did it because it was something I could do to show toughness and standout. We lost the first game and won the second game. We made the playoffs and are seeded in 4th. It is the playoff game of the tournament. We played really good so far going 3–1–0 on the weekend. I was doing alright throughout ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Fast Pitch Softball Is A Game Never knowing what pitch is going to come next is always an adrenaline rush while standing in the batters box. Fast pitch softball is a game that has physically and mentally changed my life for the past eleven years. It involves two teams, one who is home and the other who is away. The game consists of seven innings on a softball diamond. There is an upper half and lower half of each inning. The upper half begins with the home team on the field, consisting of nine players in the appropriate positions, and the away team at the plate batting with only nine to ten people in the roster. Offense is a major key to win a game. Making contact with the ball is probably the most difficult and frustrating thing in the world, because you just never know where the pitch is going to end up. There are many techniques to hitting, but we need to get down to the basics first. Since I was eights years old, I've been hitting a ball off a Tee. Sometimes it becomes repetitive and boring, but stepping into a live batters box is where all of that hard work comes into play. Growing up, my parents would always find someone to give me lessons or find a travel team that seemed to be a good fit for me. I was fortunate to have parents to push me to become a better athlete and support me at all of my sporting events. I've had several, and I mean several, batting, pitching, and fielding lessons. Because of my ability to quickly learn something after seeing it done once, I picked up how to become a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lauren, our libero, had served. I glanced at the flashing scoreboard and winced at the score: 21–23. The other team had received the ball and were ready to set their outside hitter. Their hitter made a lightning fast approach and the ball spun through the air over to our side, aimed right at me. This was my first volleyball camp at Michigan Tech University this summer and I was ready. Coaches sorted us into teams, taught us some intermediate skills revolving around the technique of the game, and scrimmaging from time to time. My team leader was Ali Gerring, a recent graduate from Kingsford. We did bump–set–spike drills and six different rotations to get ready for our big scrimmage the next day. You could see the sweat glistening on our faces, and smell the hard determination to improve. You could hear players call for the ball at every court yelling, "Mine, mine mine!" At every practice there were different stations specializing in hitting (spiking), digging (bumping), and setting. We peppered with partners at some stations and practiced serving at others. Our forearms were turning scarlet from digging so many balls and our necks started to ache after craning our necks so many times setting the ball. All twelve players showed up but only half of the team was there to play ball. It was hard to expect six–year olds to have much of an attention span anyway. When asked to describe myself, one of the first things that come to mind is a "sports enthusiast." It is not until recently that I learned there was a deeper meaning to this description I once used to label myself. I found that my love for sports was a direct reflection of the word teamwork and the impact that this simple term had on my character. I have been playing softball for my whole life, Usually your last game is bittersweet and sad, mine was the complete opposite. One reason why the day of last softball game was absolutely horrid, was because it was the championship game and the whole game the score was back and forth, neither team could keep the lead.Another reason the day of my last softball game was extremly scary is because my dad who is the coach, randomly disappeared as well as my mother. The assistant coach came up in between innings and told the team that he would be taking over because my dad did not feel well. • 59. Personal Narrative: A Career As A Baseball Player It was a good day to play baseball. Sun in the sky, cool breeze in the air. Nothing that could stop me from playing, or messing around. It was the Brentwood Pony All–Star game and I was fired up to play. Since I had the coolest Coach ever and my team just recently won the championship, my coach let us slack of a little bit just because, why not? It was about four o'clock in the afternoon and I was up on deck taking my practice swings, lefty! I was using a batting sleeve to weigh down the bat to make the illusion of it feeling lighter. But as I was watching on deck I realized something, the pitcher was throwing some serious heat. Even though I was experienced hitter, I was just a beginner lefty. I take a deep breath and walk to the plate, one of my teammates walks back to the dugout in deep despair as I go to the plate. As I start walking I hear my mom screaming my name and cheering for me as she always does, and I look back to see my sister laughing so I then let out a quiet giggle. I step up to the plate, I hear my teammates cheering me on and my coach saying "give it a rip!". I dig in to the batter's box, left foot first of course and notice the base runner, Nicky, at 2nd base. I then began to stare down the pitcher as he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I realized that the farthest ball I hit all season was left handed. I was shocked, I couldn't believe it. I then run down the line grinning and I hear my whole dugout laughing. But as I thought I hit a home run, the outfielder was right under the ball and catches it. I didn't care, I took my helmet off my head and started putting my fists in the air. • 61. Fastball Research Paper The Science of Hitting a Major League Fastball You might think that hitting a baseball is pretty easy – just keep your eye on the ball and swing. Yet while it sounds pretty straightforward, there is so much physics that goes into hitting a baseball. When you consider all the aspects, getting a base hit is actually mind–blowing. These powerful bullets spin twenty times a second, traveling at speeds of more than 90 mph. The mound (where the ball is thrown from) is 60 feet and 6 inches from the batter (who is trying to hit the ball). The average fastball passes through this area within ½ to ⅓ of a second. That basically means the batter has to evaluate the pitch, decide whether or not to swing, and apply his decision. "According to Dr. Glenn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the reasons...is the shape of the baseball; the baseball is cork, wrapped around by a cowhide, with stitches holding it all together. The stitches have an important impact on a baseball's path as they create additional friction with the air. Fastballs can rotate at up to 1200 rpm and differential pressure is created around the ball as it rotates, exerting a force on the baseball, and changing its path. That is called The Magnus Force. A forward–upward spin causes lower pressure above the baseball that slows the drop of a baseball. On the other hand, a forward –downward spin causes higher pressure above the baseball increasing the ball's drop to the ground. Now that we know what the pitcher is capable of doing, it is time to see how the hitter will overcome the monstrous arm they will face. You need good eyesight, concentration, and experience. The batter will need 50 milliseconds to evaluate the location and speed of an incoming pitch. If the swing is 7 milliseconds early or 7 milliseconds late, that's could be the difference between a base hit, and a foul ball. That's tough to do, especially with a round baseball and a round bat, but each bat does have a sweet spot. The sweet spot is where ball will receive the maximum momentum from the bat. The bat will compress to ½ of its normal thickness, when the ball is hit squarely, (but that contact with the ball and the bat will only last 1/1000th of a second). A normal ... • 67. Hitting a Baseball: Is It the Hardest Thing to Do in All... Have you ever wondered how baseball players are able to crush 400 foot homeruns? It takes years and years to perfect a baseball swing to be able to do that. Swinging a bat and hitting a baseball is a lot more difficult than most people think. The pros make it look so easy because they have to perfect many mechanics just to hit a ball hard on the sweet spot of the bat. "Hitting is the single most difficult thing to do in sport." this coming from Ted Williams, one of the greatest hitters of all time. Hitting a baseball requires more mechanical precision compared to other sports (Williams). When baseball first started, the scores would be very low because no one knew how important the mechanics of the baseball swing were. This period of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Linear hitting really got started when the bats got lighter and the handles got skinnier. When this change occurred, it made it easier to shorten a player's swing so he could reach the ball faster. This method also became more popular because it is easy to learn and to replicate. More young hitters are now using it because it teaches a player to get his power from his hands, wrists, and arms. But most kids have problems with this way of thinking because they are looking to hit homeruns. So instead, they drop their hands, swing hard, and then hit the ball straight up. Linear hitting really focuses on getting your hands to the ball and through the ball to make good contact (Jones). The big strong hitters today that look to try and pull the ball and hit for power use the hitting philosophy called rotational hitting. Rotational hitting is turning and pulling the ball. Most of the hitters who use rotational hitting usually do not have high averages. Rotational hitting teaches using your body, mainly the core, to generate more power. The whole goal of rotational hitting is just trying to hit the ball harder. Mike Epstein is most associated with the rotational philosophy and made it popular. If a player is just looking to hit the ball harder and farther, he should probably try rotational hitting (Epstein). Through time, the method of hitting has changed a lot. The two main hitting styles are linear and rotational hitting. From 1920 to 1975, rotational hitting was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are important and if a tactic does not work use a new or similar sever. Tactics Make sure to vary your serves like the Topspin. Stay close to the table so you can get to the ball quick and hit it back towards your opponents. Play if opponent use short severs. • 74. Launch Angle Research Paper Understanding Launch Angle and Why Hitters are Employing It Meta Description – A launch angle in baseball measures the vertical angle of the ball as it meets the bat. Launch angles range from under ten degrees for ground balls to 50 degrees or more for pop– ups. MLB statistics show that the best launch angles for batters are 19 to 26 degrees. These angles result in more hits and homers. A launch angle, in baseball, is the vertical angle measurement of the ball when it leaves a player's bat. These measurements vary depending on how hard the bat contacts the ball. Analysts can figure out a hitter's viability by averaging their launch angle from all his at–bats. However, launch angles are also used to discuss pitchers, and what type of contact the average batter can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This classification was created by Tom Tango, a baseball and hockey statistical analyst. A ball must have a speed of 98 mph (exit velocity) when it leaves the bat and any ball struck at that speed with a 26–30 degree launch angle is classified as barreled. The launch angle degree rises at speeds over 98 mph. When the speed of the ball increases to 100 mph or more, the launch angle goes up by two or three degrees until there's an exit velocity of 116 mph. At that point, a ball with a launch angle of eight to 50 degrees is classified as barreled. Balls classified as barreled during the MLB's 2016 season had a slugging percentage of 2.386 and an .822 batting average. Softball Barrels A batted ball in softball belongs is barreled when the exit velocity is 67 mph or more and the launch angle is between 20 and 38 degrees. Descriptive Essay On Baseball When I first got to my baseball, which was being played in a Major league stadium, I got out of my car they the derator had me head into the tunnel which lead to the locker room. Once I got to the locker room I got my jersey on and laced up my cleats which smelled like garbage can that has sit out to long! Then I went up the dugout and went onto the field to warmup and all you could hear was the crowd cheering and screaming they're son's name. After we got warmed up we headed back into the dugout and relaxed a little before the game started. Once the game was getting ready to start we got to talk to our families for a few minutes then we hustled onto the field and said the national anthem, then it was game time baby "Wooo let's gooooo!!" said my teammates as I sat there and laughed my butt off. After the pitcher got done warming up and the first pitch was on the way you could smell the smell of fresh hot dogs and hamburgers. You could also smell the sweet smell of cotton candy in the air and boy did it make you hungry. But anyways once the first pitch hit the bat of the batter and you heard the sound of the aluminum hit the ball you knew it was game time. Once the ball was hit I was quick to move in front of it and stop it from going to the outfield (by the way i'm playing second base right now) as I got the ball I zipped it to first and got the first out of the game and boy did it feel good to hear the rubble of the crowd as they jumped out of their seats to scream "Woo ...
