2. Step 1: Enhance Image
Here my first step was to enhance
the original photo and the way in
which I did this was I went over the
image using the sharpen tool and
this was in order to remove the blur
that was on the original image and
make the background look higher
quality.
3. Step 2:Darkening Background
Here I wanted to match the tone of
the other two adverts which were
darker and utilized darker colours
such as the selected blue and what
I did to achieve the look seen in the
after image is I used the brush tool
with the opacity turned down to
10% and went over the image a
couple times and what this did was
left us with a blue tint that makes
it look like it’s a cloudy day and
there are clouds outside the
window.
4. Step 3: Editing Image of Subject
Here I aimed to remove some of
the logos and things on the
subjects bag and the way in
which I did this was through
using the clone stamp tool and
selecting an empty area of the
back which I would use to cover
the logos, the more time
consuming process was covering
the handle in the front of the
bag as I also had to cover the
shadows it left and this was also
trying to get past the challenge
of the clone stamp tool not
picking up the wrong elements
or leaving unrealistic smudge
effect.
5. Step 4:Editing Image of Subject
Here I went on to remove the subject from
the original image and I did this using the
object selection tool I ten opened a new A4
canvas and deleted the layer of white and
resized the subject to fit so I can be able to
freely edit the image of the subject on said
canvas.
6. Step 5: Editing Image of Subject
Here I again wanted to match the tone of
the other two adverts which were darker
and utilized darker colours such as the
selected blue and it also had to be done
to match the edit I did on the background
that will be used and doing this will help
them look as if they are apart of the same
scene and the subject is actually at this
location in term adding a more realistic
look to the image.
7. Step 6: Adding effects to Image of Subject
Here I aimed to incorporate effects to the image of
the subject that would help the image look more
realistic and natural on this new background. I went
on to layer effects and enabled three options, bevel
& emboss, inner shadow and drop shadow. When
enabling and adjusting bevel & emboss it gave the
image of the subject a more three dimensional look
and added more depth to the image of the subject
and then after doing this I went on to add an inner
shadow and turned down the depth and scale and
what this it hid any unnatural looking outlines on
the image of the subject and helped add a realistic
shadow effect on the subject but most effective was
the addition of the drop shadow which when I
adjusted the size and scale left the shadow of the
subject on the door and in term helping her look
more natural on the background as it gave the
image of her more depth and made her seem like a
more natural part of the image.
8. Step 7: Adding effects to text
Here is the figure of weight that’s meant to
give a visual representation to the
immense weight having depression can
put on a person weather that’s mental or
physical. I aimed to give the figure a
metallic and raised look. To achieve this I
first went on blending options and
removed the levels of white I then went on
to use the magic wand tool so I would be
able to add effects to the text and the text
alone and after clearing using the magic
wand tool I went on to layer select and
enabled bevel and emboss to get the
raised look to the text then and inner and
drop shadow to remove any outlines and
add more depth to the text.
9. Step 8: Adding effects to text
Lastly I added the effect satin
on the text and this gave the
text a more metallic look
darkening the light greys and
adding a shimmering light
effect to the metallic text. I
then went on to move the
layer containing these
numbers to the main advert
and resized and adjusted it on
the subjects backpack.
10. Step 9: Text
After going through the blending options I
used the magic wand tool to remove the
what to us is an invisible layer which was
the white background and after doing so
quick select the whole text and then go to
hue and saturation and turn it white in
without colourizing move the last bar all
the way down to white and then do this for
each ither piece if text gotten in this
manner.
11. Step 10: Placement of text
At this stage I placed each layer of text in in
the order I wanted them in and after doing
so I linked each layer and then resized
them and moved them in the position I
wanted them to fill. For the actual slogan I
had four separate layers which for the
advert I wanted to re size separately for
stylistic effect and the way in which I did
this was kept the layers separated and
unlinked and then resized them and moved
them in the appropriate positions.
12. Step 11:Social Media Logos
Here I had to get images of logos for some social
media platforms that again would be at the bottom of
the advert near the sift logo.
The way in which I was able to put these logos onto
the advert is through using the object selection tool I
was able to highlight the logos and after doing so I
simply dragged them on to the tab with the advert
and re sized them and placed them appropriately to
where they had to be. Next I
13. Step 12: Addition of sift logo
Finally I went to the S.I.F.T logo I
created and moved it to the main
image. First I went on to merge the
image layers so the hands, the shapes
and the newspaper clippings I then
linked them to the layers of text and
then moved the whole logo to the base
image and resized it and adjusted its
space on the advert.
