2. Double exposure image creation
1. First I duplicated my
background layer by
using Ctrl + J
2. I then used the magic
wand tool to select only
the background of the
duplicate image
3. Next I used Select and then inverse to
invert my selected background. I did this so
I can lock this part of the image as I don’t
want it to be effected whilst I am editing
other features.
4. I then went on select, modify then
smooth and changed the sample radius
to 5 pixels instead of 2. I did this so that
when I make changes but the
background remains the same, the
edges won’t look as rough.
5. Next I added a layer mask to
finalise my selections and turn it
into its own layer.
3. 6.I then went on File –
place embedded and
embedded the image
that I wanted.
7. Next I held in ctrl and
then selected my layer
mask that I had just created
which as you can see
loaded my models body as
a selection.
8. I then created a new
mask layer to mask my
landscape image to the
portrait of my silhouette
that I had just selected.
4. 9. I then needed to sort out my background
to make sure it was even in colour and to
remove the previous shadows of my model. I
created a new layer and filled it white by
selecting ctrl- shift N and then going onto
edit > Fill > white.
10. I positioned my new
layer under my duplicate
layer but above my main
background layer.
11. Next I put my duplicate image
back to the top of the layer list in
preparation for my next steps. As
you can see the background is a lot
cleaner now and one solid colour
therefore looks more professional.
5. The next thing I needed to do was blend my two images together. I started by selecting my duplicate layer and
navigating to the blending drop down box. Different blending options create different effects of light and dark
therefore I experimented with a few to see what worked best with my images.
Some didn’t work for example Screen was
too light and the image could barely be
seen.
My favourite blending mode was multiply
because the image was shown the most clearly
without too much artificial saturation
6. Finally I changed the opacity of my
model (duplicate layer) to 79%. I
experimented a bit and found this to be
the best opacity for my favoured
outcome. This is the finished outcome of
my image which I really like. I think it
adds a lot of creativity to the image yet
you can still see who it is. I am going to
test to see how this looks on a double
page spread however I do think I could
make improvements. For instance I
could include an image that is more
obviously regional and also try and not
cover the lips as alongside the eyes and
nose these are key features that should
definitely be seen. I’ve also noticed that
during the process I have deleted some
of my model’s t shirt by accident
therefore will either need to crop my
image or do the process again.

13.
14. First I inserted a black rectangle
and changed the blending
options to add a drop shadow.
I then found a clipart photo mat
which I overlapped my black
rectangle with and made slightly
smaller to give a photo frame size.
I then wanted the border to look more 3
dimensional as the current rectangle
was really flat. To do this I found a clip
art png of a frame image and
overlapped this on the photo mat.

31. Poster shadows
Original
shadow I
created
Half deleted
shadow
Deleted shadow
I didn't’t like the outcome of my original shadow on my new background
because it just looked like a bad edited. I tried deleting half but it still looked
pretty poor. When I deleted all of it, it didn't’t have the same 3d effect which
I think it definitely needs. To overcome this I think I’m going to make my own
shadow again to achieve a more professional look.
32. Poster shadow
These are the blending options I used to create a new drop shadow
which I like much better now. I used multiply blending mode
alongside a 146 angle with 81 opacity and altered the distance and
spread so that it didn't take up as much room as previously. I’m
going to delete my old shadows on each poster and add this new
one throughout.
34. Poster aligning
1. Ive left a 1cm space gap on each side of the centre to allow for page bending and so the text can
be read easily.
2. The black border is 1cm from the edge on both sides
3. The wallpaper and tommorow posters have a 1cm gap at either side leavibng a 1cm gap in
between the two
4. I have aligned the identity pioster with the tomorrow one and then the sideby text with the
wallflower pister so that the widths of the page are euqal.
