DATAANALYSIS

A. Defination
• Bodgan states that "Data analysis is the process of systematically
searching and arranging the interview transcript, field notes and other
materials that you accumulate to increase of your own understanding
of them and to enable you to present what you have discovered to
others".
• Susan Stainback, arguing that the "Data analysis is critical to the
qualitative research process. It is to recorgnition, study and
understanding of interrelationship and concept in your hypotheses
and assertions that the data can be developed and evaluated ".
• Spradley (1980) states that: "Analysis of any kind involve; a way of
thinking. It Refers to the systematic examination of something to
Determine its parts, the relations among parts and the relationship to
the whole. Analysis is a research for patterns ".
B.Types of Data Analysis
1. Quantitative Data Analysis
Quantitative data are numbers (quantity), both
obtained from a number of merger or measurement.
2 . Qualitative Data Analysis
Qualitative data is field notes in the form of notes or
recordings of words, sentences, or paragraphs were obtained
from interviews using open question, or participatory
observation.
C. DATA ANALYSIS TECHNIQUES
1.Quantitative Data Analysis Techniques
• Frequency distribution
• Percent distribution
• Measurement of central tendency
Descriptive statistics
were used to analyze
statistical data in a way to
describe or depict the data
that has been collected.
• Parametric statistic
• Nonparametric statistic
Inferential statistics
a statistical technique
used to analyze the data
samples and the results are
applied to the population.
2 . Qualitative data analysis techniques
a. Before analysis techniques in the field :
Qualitative research has been to analyze the data before
investigators enter the field. Focus of this research is still tentative
and thrive upon entering and while in the field.
b . Analytical techniques in the field during the model Miles and
Huberman :
Data analysis was carried out interactively and continues over
time until complete until the data is already saturated after completion
of data collection.
c . Techniques of data analysis according to Spradley :
Selecting the situation , Implement participant
observation,Record observations and interviews Conduct the
analysis theme , Findings culture ,until to Writing a qualitative
research report
Data analysis steps
1 . preparation 2 . tabulation
3 . Application of data
according to the research
approach .
Check up the
completeness
of data
Describe the respondents'
answers
Data processing obtained
appropriate with research or
design approach taken
Cross Tabulation Analysis ( Crosstabs )
• Crosstabs is one of analysis descriptive used to
examine the relationship between variables ( > 2
variables).
• Present data in tabulation that includes rows and
columns.
• The procedure used was Manual or SPSS
