Automatically, a bank will get the benefit of being involved in the researching. * Easy Marketing on
the Foundation of a Brand Name: A bank 's existing branches can act as shops of selling for selling
financial products like Insurance, Mutual Funds without spending much efforts on marketing, as the
branch will act here as a parent company or source. In this way, a bank can reach the client even in
the remotest area without having to take resource to an agent. * One–stop shopping: The idea of
'one–stop shopping ' saves a lot of transaction costs and increases the speed of economic activities. It
is beneficial for the bank as well as its customers. * Investor Friendly Activities: Another
manifestation of Universal Banking is bank holding stakes in a form a bank 's equity holding in a
borrower firm, acts as a signal for other investor on to the health of the firm since the lending bank
is in a better position to monitor the firm 's activities.
Disadvantages of Universal Banking
* Grey Area of Universal Bank: The path of universal banking for DFIs is strewn with obstacles.
The biggest one is overcoming the differences in regulatory requirement for a bank and DFI. Unlike
banks, DFIs are not required to keep a portion of their deposits as cash reserves. * No Expertise in
Long terms lending: In the case of traditional project finance, an area where DFIs tread carefully,

An Auteurist Critique of The Life Aquatic with Steve...
An Auteurist Critique of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
Wes Anderson is a world–renowned filmmaker known for creating vividly colorful films that are
consistent with his auteur signature. Though he has only directed 7 films (not including his
upcoming film and two short films), he is a perfect example of how even a small body of work can
demonstrate auteur theory. Anderson's films have frequent themes, visual and methodological style
and he even uses a lot of the same actors in most of his films. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
(2004) is a great example to demonstrate Wes Anderson's stylistic use of pastel color schemes,
symmetrical shot composition, and thematic use of story elements such as trust, acceptance, child–
like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When confronted by a reporter aboard his ship about his latest documentary, Steve resorts to
childish name calling instead of accepting the fact that his opinion is not the only opinion. Steve
Zissou shows no hesitation risking his own life and that of his crew when searching for a mysterious
shark that ate his friend and fellow colleague. Anderson commonly uses family issues as a thematic
device in all of his films. Steve Zissou's long forgotten son, Ned Plimpton, suddenly shows up to a
screening of Steve's documentary, and shortly after they begin a "deep search" for a real
relationship. This relationship is short–lived, however, due to Steve's neglect to replace the old
helicopter atop the Belafonte. Near death experiences are very common in Anderson's films, Sam
Shakusky being struck by lightning in Moonrise Kingdom, and Francis' near–death experience in
The Darjeeling Limited (2007) are two examples. In the case of The Life Aquatic the whole crew
aboard the Belafonte comes face to face with their death. While carelessly lounging in the onboard
spa, Steve inadvertently lets his ship be taken over by pirates. Steve (and his ego) take it upon
himself to save the crew single–handedly. At this point in the film, the cinematography takes a
different turn than what is usually portrayed by Anderson. Wes Anderson is known for his use of the
camera stylistically. His films are

The Utilisation Of Symmetry Within Filmmaking
This following proposal will feature how the utilisation of symmetry within filmmaking, primarily
in cinematography, is a stylised technique used to highlight significant events film narratives. This
proposal will decipher whether symmetry used as a stylistic filmic technique, is a notable and
powerful visual aid that heightens the viewers experience and significance of narrative
developments. The purpose of this study is to gauge information about how symmetry showcases a
posed and staged approach in filmmaking, and if that will drive the movement of film narratives.
Thorough analysis of examples of works by American director Wes Anderson will be conducted
throughout this proposal.
Introduction
The highly creative decision of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is due to the possibility of symmetry being used randomly and thoughtlessly, running a high
risk of creating visual disturbances in the narrative of the film, thus, potentially leading the initial
direction of the narrative astray and the viewers to be confused as the film advances (Thonsagaard,
L, 2012).
Wes Anderson (born 1969), best know as an Academy Award winning American film director and
screenwriter is respected and has mastered the art of symmetry. His films are extremely identifiable,
as his constant usage of symmetry within his feature films create a powerful visual aid which are
capable of communicating complex meanings that cannot be conveyed visually without the addition
of symmetry. Anderson 's work is also notable for his distinctive narrative writing and style and also
the inclusion of adding reoccurring collaborations with various actors and creatives (McClintock, P,
2014).
The definition of symmetry follows and refers to "...quality being made up of exactly similar parts
facing each other or around an axis" (Oxford Dictionary of English). This proposal will primarily
focus on Anderson's filmmaking, discussing his utilisation of symmetry within his works and how
he produces a visual aesthetic and experimental style of filmmaking that has gained him the title of
being a respected director in the film industry. Anderson's reason behind using symmetry instead

Trademarks Protection Under Trademarks Act with Passing Off
INTRODUCTION A. History of Trademarks: Trademarks commonly referred to as 'identifying
marks' or 'distinctive marks'[1] have been recognised in some form or the other since times
immemorial. They were one of the foremost forms of intellectual property protection witnessed by
the world and have undergone a steady evolution since then. The first legislation on trademarks can
be traced to England where the Bakers Marking Law, 1266 was enacted, which governed the use of
stamps or pinpricks on loaves of bread. The first case of trademark infringement, Southern v How
was heard as far back as 1618. The common law of trademark arose originally to prevent
manufacturers from trying to pass off their goods as someone else's. Since ... Show more content on

Wes Anderson As An Auteur
What exactly is an auteur? According to Graham Roberts and Heather Wallis, 'film's generic ideas
produced creative conventions in cinema language which could then be exploited and developed by
individual artists into a personal vision' (127). That individual artist is the auteur; someone who,
through their work, displays several key qualities that are uniquely their own, namely: reoccurring
themes and plotlines throughout their movies; specific stylistic qualities in their films such as mise
en scene and cinematography styles; similar character attributes and traits; and narrative structure
and features (Roberts and Wallis 128). Throughout cinema's history, only several directors have ever
been referred to as an 'auteur'. Some names that are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While The Royal Tenenbaums is a clear example of how the entire movie is structured around the
family, his other works also incorporate the same family–orientated structure. Take The Darjeeling
Limited (2007) for example. The movie surrounds three estranged brothers, Peter, Francis and Jack,
all with their own personal conflicts – which as mentioned earlier, is another common Anderson
theme – as they travel together to meet their mother. In The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Ned,
whose mother has recently passed away, believes that Steve is his father. Even his stop–motion film
Fantastic Mr Fox (2009) was an adaptation of Roald Dahl's novel that surrounded a family of foxes.
Wes Anderson's continued use of the idea of family as part of the storyline for his movies is another
key trait of his which makes him qualify as another of film's

Law of One Price: Price Variation of Rice in West Bengal
Price Variation of Rice in West Bengal
Abstract
There is a saying that goes: rice and fish make a Bengali. West Bengal is a predominantly paddy
growing state where 5,719,800 hectare of land is under paddy cultivation. The state of West Bengal
has always contributed nearly 14–16 per cent of the all India production of rice and productivity of
rice in West Bengal has always been higher than the all India average.
Significant variation in the price of rice has being observed across the state at every point in time.
The data was gathered for the monthly variation in price of rice across 19 districts over a period of
five years. The data broadly indicates that the prices in northern districts of the state such as Siliguri,

Variation in Price of Rice across locations
The prices of rice for fine rice variety and Masuri variety are higher in the northern region. Such a
trend is not visible for very fine rice variety.
Sources of price variations
In economics, arbitrage is the practice of taking advantage of a price difference between two or
more markets: striking a combination of matching deals that capitalize upon the imbalance, the
profit being the difference between the market prices.
Arbitrage has the effect of causing prices in different markets to converge. As a result of
arbitrage, the prices of commodities in different markets tend to converge to the same prices, in all
markets, in each category. The speed at which prices converge is a measure of market efficiency.
Arbitrage tends to reduceprice discrimination by encouraging people to buy an item where the price
is low and resell it where the price is high, as long as the buyers are not prohibited from reselling
and the transaction costs of buying, holding and reselling are small relative to the difference in
prices in the different markets.
Price Variation across various districts
Price Variation across various months
The main reasons forfailure of price convergence are as follows:
Seasonal variation: Rice is a kharif crop. It's grown in high rainfall areas during monsoons. Besides
rice and jute pulses and maize are grown on a limited scale in West Bengal. Rice is usually
alternated with these crops by

Wes Anderson Anthropology
Film is a prevalent aspect of modern North American culture that works to both shape the culture
while being shaped by the culture. The ideological elements that films contain, and the purposes that
these ideologies serve, are similar to the function of religious ideologies (Lyden 2003: 3). This is
possible through films' creation of their own realities. Films craft a "sacred space" that allows the
audience to escape from the normal realm of time and space, immersing the them in the reality of
the film (25;65). In this immersion, the audience is able to follow the film's myths, morals, and
rituals in a manner that mirrors religious ideologies and their legitimation or challenging of
dominant societal norms (33). Myths in film, as with religion, ... Show more content on

The film begins with Zissou screening his latest documentary, which portrays the death of his friend,
and it is clear that Zissou is considered somewhat of a joke in his profession, a fallen former–star.
After the premiere, he meets Ned Plimpton, a man claiming to be Zissou's son, and once Steve
invites Ned to be on his crew, Zissou's passage into retirement begins, thus entering a liminal space.
This passage into retirement utilizes redemption ideologies in order to make the changes necessary
for Steve to progress through his transformation. Christopher Deacy describes filmic redemption as
coming from characters "confronting their human inadequacies and weaknesses and undergoing a
process of spiritual and moral transformation," as opposed to the Christian theological concept of
redemption coming from God (Deacy 2009: 356;365). Steve Zissou has many inadequacies that he
must confront. He constantly lives in the past, holding grudges against his wife, Eleanor's, ex–
husband for getting funding and unsuccessfully attempting to recreate an artificial sense of
adventure for his documentaries that used to be natural. He is desperately self–centered, never
sparing a thought to how his actions affect others, which is inherently linked with his immaturity. He
is often seen lashing out at

Nevertheless, with population growing at 1.04 per cent in this decade (2001 to 2006), the slow–
down is a matter of serious concern. The slowdown in production growth is primarily on account of
a slowdown in the growth of yields. Yields have grown at less than 2 per cent per annum over the

History of Electricity in Kerala
HISTORY OF ELECTRICITY IN KERALA –
Dr D Shina
S N COLLEGE, Kollam, Kerala, India email – achushina@gmail.com
ORIGIN AND GROWTH OF ELECTRICITY
The history of electricity can be traced back to the eighteenth century. The first instance of sensing
the phenomenon of electricity was the accidental observation of what was later found out to be neon
glow by Framas Bauksbw in 1709 at the Royal Society in London. Luigi Galvani observed moving
of the legs of a dead frog when touched with a metal scalpel. This also was later found to have
happened due to production of electricity by chemical process. Almost at the same time, Alessandro
Volta made the first form of battery. Thus a new phenomenon, the Electric current, was produced
which paved the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The emergence of more Power Stations and Transmission lines throughout the country didn't take
much time. Till 1948, Electricity generation, transmission and distribution were governed by
Electricity Act 1910. The Government used to give licences for generation, transmission and
distribution of power. But this type of approach was not conducive to a balanced and sufficient
growth in this key sector. There was absence of co–ordination and a meaningful orientation for fast
development of the power sector. The importance of electricity industry was duly recognized by that
time and an active role in the field was taken by the government.
State Electricity Boards
When India got independence, the installed capacity of the country was a meagre 1940 MW. The
enacting of the Electricity Supply Act 1948 paved the way for establishing the State Electricity
Boards. It was a major keystone in the history of Electricity in India, which brought this prime
industry under the public sector. There were major steps in the legal framework for the power sector.
The whole picture of enactments in the sector will be dealt with in detail, later in this chapter.
The State Electricity Boards presented a commendable picture in the growing independent India.

An auteur director is viewed as prime mover in creative filmmaking, whose work is considered to
have a distinctive style and innovative. Wes Anderson exemplifies the concept of auteurism due to
his personal influence, and artistic control in his movies. His films feature a continuity of technical
aspects with similar themes of familial drama and disgruntlement. From his well–composed mise en
scene to classic pan shots, his style has surely become an acclaimed signature. The Grand Budapest
Hotel, The Darjeeling Limited, and The Royal Tenenbaums are chosen from Anderson's filmography
to show that the use of these features has remained constant since his earliest work.
Anderson is known for his quirky style. When people, especially filmgoers see a movie that has
distinguishing color palette and perfect symmetry that's aesthetically pleasing, they would know it's
his. Since The Grand Budapest Hotel is a story within a story, the color provides a distinction
between one period to another and gives more meaning to the film.
The story begins with an older Author played by Tom Wilkinson telling the tale on how he gets his
inspiration for his book which is also named The Grand Budapest Hotel. Then the younger version
of the author, played by Jude Law who meets Monsieur Zero Moustafa (F. Murray Abraham) was
shown. Zero meets the author and tells the tale on how he became the hotel's owner. In the film,

Wes Anderson Research Paper
They're many renowned filmmakers these days. You have Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese,
Quentin Tarantino, Ridley Scott, James Cameron, and this list goes on and on. Though these
filmmakers are at the top of the food chain in their respective works, some of their works aren't all
distinguishable. Every year Hollywood produces many films that all look the same. What I mean to
say is: when you watch a movie made by one of the figures mentioned above, you can't always tie
that movie to them. "Oh that's a Steven Spielberg movie" isn't a given all the time. The reason I say
this is because there's one prominent filmmaker that you can always tie movies to, Wes Anderson.
When you watch one of Anderson's films, you immediately know he was the director behind the
piece. The real question is: how can you know? What makes him stand out from the rest? The
answer? His stylistic technique. Wes Anderson's stylistic technique is unique. He repeatedly uses the
same characters in his films, he emphasizes and contrasts when it comes to his use of color, all of his
films have similar themes, his use of symmetry is present everywhere, and he uses music to fit ...

Whether it be The Grand Budapest Hotel, or The Life Aquatic, Anderson loves to compose his shots
with perfect symmtery, which allows for his images to appear satisfyingly inviting, and box–like.
Though directors are taught to avoid symmetry due to it's stage–y nature, Anderson consistently
organizes the elements in his frame so that the most important element is smack in the middle,
which is a major component in making his films distinct. Wes Anderson acquired this trait from his
inspiration, Stanley Kubrick. Stanley Kubrick, just like Wes Anderson, would compose most of his
shots using one–point perspective. The use of symmetry is what allows Anderson's films to look
different from other films made by other

Why The Japanese Tea Market Has A Gradual Increase Over...
Tea in Japan
"The Japanese beverage sector is one of the biggest beverage markets in the world." "It is highly
competitive and has reached a peak in its maturity, thus making growth difficult" (Japan). This term
paper will study why the Japanese tea market has seen a gradual decrease over the years, and will
study the factors that caused this industry to see such a change. It will include the history/origin of
tea, the ongoing changes in the tea market, and whether other countries like China are seeing the
same downward shift. It will also provide research on the top Japanese tea sellers, major (tea) export
partners, top competitors (both internal and external), current products in the market, along with

The ceremonies have influenced all forms of Japanese art (such as garden design and flower
arrangements), and has become a social custom to Japanese people" (Tea). This way of life is still
prevalent in Japanese culture today (especially among the older generations).
Along the lines of Japan's long history of tea, the first signs of these exports appeared in "1610 by
the Dutch East India Company, when a shipment of Japanese tea was sent to Europe" (Ito En). Later
in 1858 Japan opened its ports, first to the United States, then to countries like the UK, Russia, and
France. This marked the time in which tea became one of Japan's main exports. Afterwards the
export of tea expanded "due to the support of the Japanese government, with their main focus on the
United States" as an export partner. These countries, along with many others nowadays, are still
huge tea trading partners with Japan. They contribute a good portion to Japan's tea market; the main
attraction to Japanese tea has to do with their cultural practices attributed to earlier uses of tea and
ceremonies in Japan.
Japan has faced major issues regarding natural disasters over the years. These disasters can greatly
attribute to the downfall of the Japanese Tea market. The most famously known occurrence
appeared in 2011, when Japan had a triple disaster (earthquake, tsunami, and then followed by the
nuclear disaster). This disaster affected tea

It can be noticed that Anderson's cinematic choices has enabled the underlying reality of his
storyline to be masked, providing the characters an avenue to explore his infamous recurring theme

dysfunctional situation with his cinematic choices; mainly, the synergy of the stillness of the camera
and acting of the characters, to portray an incongruous image of the film. One example where this
was evident in would be the scene in which Margot's series of shocking experiences were shown–

events in Margot's life more lightly than it should have been through Margot's monotonous

term of a patent is 20 years from the Date of Filing, subject to the payment of annual renewal fees. A
patent can also be employed to raise funds for your business and licensing it to third parties for

There are three criteria for an invention to be patentable. The first criteria is New. The invention
should not be publicly known in anyway or anywhere around the world. The owners of invention
should be careful in keeping the invention as secret until a patent application has been successfully
made. If the idea has already been commercially exploited, demonstrated or advertised, the novelty
of it may be compromised. If the invention requires disclosure to a third party before the patent
application is made, a non–disclosure agreement should be drawn up.
The second criteria is inventive step. The invention must be a representation of improvement over
any existing product or process that is already available. The improvement cannot be obvious to
someone with technical skills or knowledge in its particular field. The invention would not fulfil the
requirements of this criteria if it is obvious to a person skilled in the art, even though it is new.

Anderson's Movie Themes
Director Seminar Themes and stories[edit] Anderson has chosen to direct mostly fast–paced
comedies marked by more serious or melancholic elements, with themes often centered on grief,
loss of innocence, parental abandonment, adultery, sibling rivalry and unlikely friendships. His
movies have been noted for being unusually character–driven, and by turns both derided and praised
with terms like "literary geek chic". The plots of his movies often feature thefts and unexpected
disappearances, with a tendency to borrow liberally from the caper genre.[30] Visual style[edit]
Anderson has been noted for his extensive use of flat space camera moves, obsessively symmetrical
compositions, snap–zooms, slow–motion walking shots, a deliberately limited color

Wes Anderson Influence
Lukas Hamlescher Dr. Neuendorf COM 320 Preliminary Draft Wes Anderson is a staple in the
independent film community. He writes, directs, and produces most of his films. He takes time to
develop stories unique to him and from each other. Nonetheless, all of Anderson?s films have an
undeniable familiarity between them as he imprints his style on everything he creates. However, if
he did not have inspiration or influences for his films, his creativity and artistic flair may not have a
proper way to be displayed. His films could lack an essential essence whether in diversity of plot or
themes, etc. Perhaps without influences, Anderson would not be a filmmaker at all. Fortunate for all
fans of Anderson, he is inspired and does make films for many all over the world to enjoy.

This takes focused pre–planning and a dedicated thought process. Ray admits to similar pre–
planning and precision in his production phase of filming. In an interview from a book entitled

Definition Of Comedy
Comedy
Comedy originates from drama focusing on the humour of a story to entertain the audience. This
genre has existed since theatre if not sooner in common storytelling as people have always loved to
share humour. As time passes comedy has taken on many sub–divisions as more fragments of
society and other means have been combined into comedy. Its long standing survival is present in
film as well, seen as early as 1895 in "Tables Turned on the Gardener" by Louis Lumière who not
only directed the film but was also cinematographer. A recent example of where comedy has come is
The Darjeeling limited which has a grade which has saturated colours, slightly higher contrast and

an equal proportion of sales in the bulk and packet tea segments, besides a significant presence in
the export market. India is the largest producer and consumer of tea in the world. Tea plantations in
India are concentrated in the North East (Upper Assam, West Bengal (and the South (Kerala,
TamilNadu). Tea production in 1998 was a record 870mnkg. Domestic tea consumption is estimated
at around 625mn kg. and has been growing at an average annual rate of 4% p.a. Production on the
other hand has grown at a CAGR of 3%. The exportable surplus has therefore been declining over
the last few years. Exports in 1998 amounted to 206mn kg. Global tea production is highly
concentrated in a few countries like India, China, Kenya and Sri Lanka Indian tea bushes are very
old and therefore productivity is quite low. This leads to a higher cost of production as compared to
the same in countries like Kenya and Malawi. While India and China have a large domestic market,
other countries mainly produce for exports. International tea prices are therefore largely linked to the

with regard to the tastes and preferences as may be demonstrated by the way their films have been

in terms of allowing nostalgia to supremely reign, staging children to have existential importance,
designing families to meet in strangest of the places, incorporation of strange human conversation
and interaction, presentation of art as being more important than any other thing in the world,
staging obsessed and self–absorbed characters, providing for every other thing to be extraordinarily
rectilinear and the presentation of children as more adult than adults.

How Is Sound Used In Film
Sound has been used in films since the silent era to denote the change in mood and develop
characters actions through piano soundtracks played through the film. Better sound systems have

better diegetic a¬¬nd non–diegetic effects. Fantastic Mr. Fox and The Darjeeling Limited are films
directed by Wes Anderson released in 2009 and 2007 respectively. As shown below sound

In The Darjeeling Limited the director shows the audience the culture shock the characters are going
through by changing the volume of the music. When the film starts a prologue can be heard that
introduces the audience to the setting. With the end of the prologue the movie plays Jalsaghar by
Satyajit Ray at a louder volume to shock the audience and show the change in culture (Gilbey,
2007). The song has an Indian tune and playing it tells the audience that they should expect an
Indian setting as they watch the film. Prammagiore and Wallis say, "Loudness usually connotes a
character experiencing intense emotion, such as anger, fear, or passion" (247). The loudness of the
music is intended to let the audience experience the shock of the actors as they leave the common
western setting of American film to the Indian

  • 4. An Auteurist Critique of The Life Aquatic with Steve... An Auteurist Critique of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou Wes Anderson is a world–renowned filmmaker known for creating vividly colorful films that are consistent with his auteur signature. Though he has only directed 7 films (not including his upcoming film and two short films), he is a perfect example of how even a small body of work can demonstrate auteur theory. Anderson's films have frequent themes, visual and methodological style and he even uses a lot of the same actors in most of his films. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004) is a great example to demonstrate Wes Anderson's stylistic use of pastel color schemes, symmetrical shot composition, and thematic use of story elements such as trust, acceptance, child– like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When confronted by a reporter aboard his ship about his latest documentary, Steve resorts to childish name calling instead of accepting the fact that his opinion is not the only opinion. Steve Zissou shows no hesitation risking his own life and that of his crew when searching for a mysterious shark that ate his friend and fellow colleague. Anderson commonly uses family issues as a thematic device in all of his films. Steve Zissou's long forgotten son, Ned Plimpton, suddenly shows up to a screening of Steve's documentary, and shortly after they begin a "deep search" for a real relationship. This relationship is short–lived, however, due to Steve's neglect to replace the old helicopter atop the Belafonte. Near death experiences are very common in Anderson's films, Sam Shakusky being struck by lightning in Moonrise Kingdom, and Francis' near–death experience in The Darjeeling Limited (2007) are two examples. In the case of The Life Aquatic the whole crew aboard the Belafonte comes face to face with their death. While carelessly lounging in the onboard spa, Steve inadvertently lets his ship be taken over by pirates. Steve (and his ego) take it upon himself to save the crew single–handedly. At this point in the film, the cinematography takes a different turn than what is usually portrayed by Anderson. Wes Anderson is known for his use of the camera stylistically. His films are ... This proposal will decipher whether symmetry used as a stylistic filmic technique, is a notable and powerful visual aid that heightens the viewers experience and significance of narrative developments. The purpose of this study is to gauge information about how symmetry showcases a posed and staged approach in filmmaking, and if that will drive the movement of film narratives. Thorough analysis of examples of works by American director Wes Anderson will be conducted throughout this proposal. Introduction The highly creative decision of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is due to the possibility of symmetry being used randomly and thoughtlessly, running a high risk of creating visual disturbances in the narrative of the film, thus, potentially leading the initial direction of the narrative astray and the viewers to be confused as the film advances (Thonsagaard, L, 2012). Wes Anderson (born 1969), best know as an Academy Award winning American film director and screenwriter is respected and has mastered the art of symmetry. His films are extremely identifiable, as his constant usage of symmetry within his feature films create a powerful visual aid which are capable of communicating complex meanings that cannot be conveyed visually without the addition of symmetry. Anderson 's work is also notable for his distinctive narrative writing and style and also the inclusion of adding reoccurring collaborations with various actors and creatives (McClintock, P, 2014). The definition of symmetry follows and refers to "...quality being made up of exactly similar parts facing each other or around an axis" (Oxford Dictionary of English). This proposal will primarily focus on Anderson's filmmaking, discussing his utilisation of symmetry within his works and how he produces a visual aesthetic and experimental style of filmmaking that has gained him the title of being a respected director in the film industry. According to Graham Roberts and Heather Wallis, 'film's generic ideas produced creative conventions in cinema language which could then be exploited and developed by individual artists into a personal vision' (127). That individual artist is the auteur; someone who, through their work, displays several key qualities that are uniquely their own, namely: reoccurring themes and plotlines throughout their movies; specific stylistic qualities in their films such as mise en scene and cinematography styles; similar character attributes and traits; and narrative structure and features (Roberts and Wallis 128). In The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Ned, whose mother has recently passed away, believes that Steve is his father. Variation in Price of Rice across locations The prices of rice for fine rice variety and Masuri variety are higher in the northern region. Such a trend is not visible for very fine rice variety. Sources of price variations In economics, arbitrage is the practice of taking advantage of a price difference between two or more markets: striking a combination of matching deals that capitalize upon the imbalance, the profit being the difference between the market prices. Arbitrage has the effect of causing prices in different markets to converge. As a result of arbitrage, the prices of commodities in different markets tend to converge to the same prices, in all markets, in each category. The speed at which prices converge is a measure of market efficiency. Arbitrage tends to reduceprice discrimination by encouraging people to buy an item where the price is low and resell it where the price is high, as long as the buyers are not prohibited from reselling and the transaction costs of buying, holding and reselling are small relative to the difference in prices in the different markets. • 24. Wes Anderson Anthropology Film is a prevalent aspect of modern North American culture that works to both shape the culture while being shaped by the culture. The ideological elements that films contain, and the purposes that these ideologies serve, are similar to the function of religious ideologies (Lyden 2003: 3). This is possible through films' creation of their own realities. Films craft a "sacred space" that allows the audience to escape from the normal realm of time and space, immersing the them in the reality of the film (25;65). In this immersion, the audience is able to follow the film's myths, morals, and rituals in a manner that mirrors religious ideologies and their legitimation or challenging of dominant societal norms (33). The film begins with Zissou screening his latest documentary, which portrays the death of his friend, and it is clear that Zissou is considered somewhat of a joke in his profession, a fallen former–star. After the premiere, he meets Ned Plimpton, a man claiming to be Zissou's son, and once Steve invites Ned to be on his crew, Zissou's passage into retirement begins, thus entering a liminal space. This passage into retirement utilizes redemption ideologies in order to make the changes necessary for Steve to progress through his transformation. Christopher Deacy describes filmic redemption as coming from characters "confronting their human inadequacies and weaknesses and undergoing a process of spiritual and moral transformation," as opposed to the Christian theological concept of redemption coming from God (Deacy 2009: 356;365). Steve Zissou has many inadequacies that he must confront. He constantly lives in the past, holding grudges against his wife, Eleanor's, ex– husband for getting funding and unsuccessfully attempting to recreate an artificial sense of adventure for his documentaries that used to be natural. History of Electricity in Kerala HISTORY OF ELECTRICITY IN KERALA – Dr D Shina S N COLLEGE, Kollam, Kerala, India email – achushina@gmail.com ORIGIN AND GROWTH OF ELECTRICITY The history of electricity can be traced back to the eighteenth century. The first instance of sensing the phenomenon of electricity was the accidental observation of what was later found out to be neon glow by Framas Bauksbw in 1709 at the Royal Society in London. Luigi Galvani observed moving of the legs of a dead frog when touched with a metal scalpel. This also was later found to have happened due to production of electricity by chemical process. Almost at the same time, Alessandro Volta made the first form of battery. Thus a new phenomenon, the Electric current, was produced which paved the ... Till 1948, Electricity generation, transmission and distribution were governed by Electricity Act 1910. The Government used to give licences for generation, transmission and distribution of power. But this type of approach was not conducive to a balanced and sufficient growth in this key sector. There was absence of co–ordination and a meaningful orientation for fast development of the power sector. The importance of electricity industry was duly recognized by that time and an active role in the field was taken by the government. State Electricity Boards When India got independence, the installed capacity of the country was a meagre 1940 MW. The enacting of the Electricity Supply Act 1948 paved the way for establishing the State Electricity Boards. It was a major keystone in the history of Electricity in India, which brought this prime industry under the public sector. There were major steps in the legal framework for the power sector. The whole picture of enactments in the sector will be dealt with in detail, later in this chapter. The State Electricity Boards presented a commendable picture in the growing independent India. Analysis Of ' The Grand Budapest Hotel ' Zyra De Los Reyes Professor Dan Gerth Honors 2010 – 003 October 21, 2016 An auteur director is viewed as prime mover in creative filmmaking, whose work is considered to have a distinctive style and innovative. Wes Anderson exemplifies the concept of auteurism due to his personal influence, and artistic control in his movies. His films feature a continuity of technical aspects with similar themes of familial drama and disgruntlement. From his well–composed mise en scene to classic pan shots, his style has surely become an acclaimed signature. The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Darjeeling Limited, and The Royal Tenenbaums are chosen from Anderson's filmography to show that the use of these features has remained constant since his earliest work. Anderson is known for his quirky style. When people, especially filmgoers see a movie that has distinguishing color palette and perfect symmetry that's aesthetically pleasing, they would know it's his. Since The Grand Budapest Hotel is a story within a story, the color provides a distinction between one period to another and gives more meaning to the film. The story begins with an older Author played by Tom Wilkinson telling the tale on how he gets his inspiration for his book which is also named The Grand Budapest Hotel. Then the younger version of the author, played by Jude Law who meets Monsieur Zero Moustafa (F. Murray Abraham) was shown. Zero meets the author and tells the tale on how he became the hotel's owner. • 37. Wes Anderson Research Paper They're many renowned filmmakers these days. You have Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, Ridley Scott, James Cameron, and this list goes on and on. Though these filmmakers are at the top of the food chain in their respective works, some of their works aren't all distinguishable. Every year Hollywood produces many films that all look the same. What I mean to say is: when you watch a movie made by one of the figures mentioned above, you can't always tie that movie to them. "Oh that's a Steven Spielberg movie" isn't a given all the time. The reason I say this is because there's one prominent filmmaker that you can always tie movies to, Wes Anderson. When you watch one of Anderson's films, you immediately know he was the director behind the piece. The real question is: how can you know? What makes him stand out from the rest? The answer? His stylistic technique. Wes Anderson's stylistic technique is unique. He repeatedly uses the same characters in his films, he emphasizes and contrasts when it comes to his use of color, all of his films have similar themes, his use of symmetry is present everywhere, and he uses music to fit ... The ceremonies have influenced all forms of Japanese art (such as garden design and flower arrangements), and has become a social custom to Japanese people" (Tea). This way of life is still prevalent in Japanese culture today (especially among the older generations). Along the lines of Japan's long history of tea, the first signs of these exports appeared in "1610 by the Dutch East India Company, when a shipment of Japanese tea was sent to Europe" (Ito En). Later in 1858 Japan opened its ports, first to the United States, then to countries like the UK, Russia, and France. This marked the time in which tea became one of Japan's main exports. Afterwards the export of tea expanded "due to the support of the Japanese government, with their main focus on the United States" as an export partner. These countries, along with many others nowadays, are still huge tea trading partners with Japan. They contribute a good portion to Japan's tea market; the main attraction to Japanese tea has to do with their cultural practices attributed to earlier uses of tea and ceremonies in Japan. Japan has faced major issues regarding natural disasters over the years. These disasters can greatly attribute to the downfall of the Japanese Tea market. The most famously known occurrence appeared in 2011, when Japan had a triple disaster (earthquake, tsunami, and then followed by the nuclear disaster). This disaster affected tea ...
