Theme Of Trifles
Glaspell creates a powerful image within the play, Trifles and mimics the life of a bird to one of a
human. In the play, Mrs. Wright works tirelessly in her lonely home with no one but an ungrateful
and cold husband to The dead Canary symbolizes Mrs Wright's imprisonment
Mrs Wright has been imprisoned in all aspects of her life. When Mrs wright married her husband,
her life became one of a prisoner. She is constantly doing work and never has a moment of peace for
herself. She has been expected to do not only household chores but also has to take care of the farm
while Mr. Wright is out on the town. Whether it is jarring her preserves or scrubbing the stove, she
always has something to work on. Knowing that she is the only one in the ... Show more content on

It reminded her of when she was younger and did not have all of the problems that she has now, it
brought her back to a simpler time in her life. Even though Mrs. Wright was constantly cleaning and
doing the work around the house, her house still had an extremely sad and gloomy vibe to it. It was
very dark and cold. Earlier in Mrs. Wright's life she had cared about herself and she cared about how
she looked. Now she is so overworked that it seems strange when she dresses up or tries to look
nice. For example, Mrs. Hale says that "she had looked all done up" and mentions that it seemed
strange for her (Glaspell, 2). Now she is too busy to care about every single detail of the house and
her appearance. She has so much to do that she cannot worry about every single stitch being
absolutely perfect. She cannot worry about her hair and her lipstick. So not only is her house
gloomy, but her outward appearance is as well. When it came to the canary, her eye drew to it like a
magnet and it brought a light back to her that was lost for a long time. Her bird was so beautiful that
it brought color to her dark and sad world. It was bright and bold and had such a way in its patterns
that made her happy in her dark home. It symbolized her past life and how it used to be full of
happiness and beauty.
Throughout the story it was very evident that Mrs. Wright was not like the other women in that
town, According to Mrs. Hale, "She didn't even belong to the

Corbin sat in the borrowed interrogation room across from Alexandrov. The FBI was being very
accommodating, especially since they were the ones that would be able to take the credit for the
arrest. Depending on what TV show you liked to watch, the FBI interrogation room looked just like
that. Plain white walls with a metal table bolted to the floor. Alexandrov sat across from him, his
handcuffs clipped into a hook on the table. His reflection in the mirror behind Corbin's head.
Multiple red lights from cameras glowed from different corners of the room. Recording every word,
every facial movement, and every flick of the eye. Corbin had been sitting in the room with
Alexandrov for fifteen minutes. Being Delta Force, he'd been trained in interrogation ... Show more

No one knew three years ago when it became wide spread that there would still be no way to wake.
The Excitem serum, antidote to Somus, was still a work in progress. But Patria Donmari, she could
do what no one else could do. She could wake the Sleepers by making a psychic connection with
them, then guide them back to the living world.
It seemed like a lifetime ago, but in reality it had only been weeks since he'd fought against his own
nightmare called Julia, and woke in Atlanta Georgia at Batesha Labs. It had not been Patria that
woke him, but Dr. Marco Cavick. With the help of the buffer serum Hannah Cavick injected him
with in Paris, Corbin was able to navigate through Somus and wake. He wanted to shake his head at
the bizarre twists and turn of events that had been his life recently. Patria being the biggest mystery
of all. Corbin and his team caught Alexandrov after he showed up at Hannah's house during the
Thanksgiving celebration yesterday. He tried to shoot Patria with a dart, dipped in god knows what.
Dr. Cavick got to Patria before Corbin could, and shoved her out of the way. Cavick ended up taking
the dart to the chest. He was still in the hospital, and

The Watchers: A Narrative Analysis
Protect those who cannot protect themselves The walls were a boring gray color; there were no
windows that she knew of. Though there were no windows she could feel the cold touch her skin.
The ground was an uncomfortable place to lie but it was all there was. In her 23 years of life she

smashed the butt of a gun. She's been awake for maybe 2 hours and no one has come to kill her.

pathetic family of yours. Though I guess it will have to do with you," Crawford stated. "My family?
You won't ever find my family. They're hiding somewhere you would never look. Remember your

bad news. I would let you choose but I don't care. The good news is that you have your choices. You
either choose to die or you fight to survive," she was going to choose to fight to survive, "the bad

Northwood’s Park Middle School in Jacksonville
Ok so the beginning of my eight grade year at Northwood's Park Middle in Jacksonville. The
student board got the whole class together for a trip to Kings Dominion in Deswell, Virginia. We did
a bunch of fundraisers because aint nobody have the money like hat. But anyway we had just got a
new principle and she wanted everybody to bond so we planned this trip. I remember seeing the big
busses you know with the TV's and bathroom. It was off the chain; that was the first time any of us
was about to ride in one and everybody was ready. Before leaving Jacksonville we stopped to Wal–
Mart so everybody could rack up on what they wanted so we wouldn't have to stop but for gas or
something. After everybody got done getting what they wanted we got ... Show more content on

I knew at that moment I was going to die and there would nothing me or anybody else could do.
After all I was strapped down like my life depended on it and now I know why. God why did I let
my friends convince me to go on a ride they had just built. We were all most to the very top and I
was on the 1st row. My life started flashing before my eyes and I looked to my friends and told them
that I loved them and sorry for beating some of them up. And that if I didn't make it to tell my
mom's I loved her too. All they did was laugh but I was dead serious I don't want to die like that you
know. Here we go the clicking stopped and we were about to go down at a 90 degree angle; I'm
looking at death straight in the face. The man on the intercom says we should all should stretch our
arms out like were flying. I think I was probably the only one on the stupid ride that didn't have their
arms out. No mine were locked on my little hand bar; my hands started hurting I was holding it so
tight. Down we go and I swear I was cussing in Swahili, English, pig Latin all that. We went into all
types of swirls, back up, went up then did a batman turn and it put us on our back and we were
looking at the sky. I hated it so much but that wasn't nothing compared to what I was about to go
through. We were just cruising but something to me to look up ahead. There was this tunnel and then

Jackie looked over at her phone that was sitting on blue desk in the far corner of her room. Her room
was a blue green with bright purple stripes on the back wall. Her comforter cover was bright yellow
and she had three pillows on her bed all with different colored pillow cases on them. Jackie loved
her room. It was bright and colorful. It had every memory Jackie had ever had stored in it. Whether

trying to get the tears to go back into her eyes, but her efforts were fruitless. She gave up and let the
tears pour out of her eyes. Jackie never cried, but now, more than ever, she couldn't hold it in. Every

Try as Samuel might there was no understanding his life...
Try as Samuel might there was no understanding his life with Valarie. He never really knew that
Valarie in her own way had opened up, it might not have been in the way he wanted her to love him,
but she loved him in her own way. Yet back then, in the beginning, in a time that is best left where it
belongs, she found herself becoming increasingly angry with him. His touch repulsed her, she
wanted to give him the love he wanted, but she just could not, did not have it in her to give.
'You can't drink water from a well if the well is empty,' she would often say to herself. Samuel was
not to know how Valarie's heart was knotted and her hands tied. He would try so hard to kiss away
her tears. The bitter drops stained his lips ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That was the last thing he wanted, he just wanted to forget her completely, but Marlene was not to
be so easily forgotten. He felt her presence pulling him to her and even though he had tried hard to
fight it he could not stop the haunting.
It would be good if he could dismiss the thought, the idea, but since that night, that dreadful night,
strange things have been going on. He would see her disappearing out of his view or appearing out
of nowhere. He had to tell himself that it was just his mind playing tricks on him. He was happy to
settle with that for now. The woman that had once given him love that Valarie could not, the woman
that took part in the betrayal of Valarie's love was still refusing to go away. Thinking about his
betrayal now made him reflect on Marlene's betrayal.
'How could two people so important in Valarie's life do such a thing to her?' Marlene was prepared
to take him away from Valarie. She told him time and time again that she could love him in ways
that Valarie could not. She questioned his love for Valarie.
'If you really love her, then why are you with me?'
He had to confess to himself that he had grown to love Marlene in a way and yet there was
something about Valarie that made the love he had for her different, different to any other love.
He could not explain it, they were so alike and yet so different.

knelt down making hand signals. The radios sputtered as the chopper saw that multiple people were

rapid circles while the tail began to break off. It had been hit by a missile. The soldier had been
supplied by spies and now had weapons that were extremely dangerous. A policeman saw that he
was running low on ammunition, and was now reaching the end of this standoff. At that moment,
everyone realized that this was more than a standoff for a robber. It is an attack of war. The police
called on their radios desperately for reinforcements. They all were hiding behind cars. Then a

Shaun Callarman's Into The Wild
Into The Wild was a tremendous story which Shaun Callarman did not have many positive things to
say about Chris McCandless, the main character. He went on this adventure to find out what life is
all about in his own eyes. He wanted to see how different living in the wild really was compared to
society because he was not satisfied with his living arrangements and household. Shaun's quote says
that he thinks "Chris McCandless was bright and ignorant at the same time. He had no common
sense, and he had no business going into Alaska with his Romantic silliness. He made a lot of
mistakes based on arrogance. I don't admire him at all for his courage nor his noble ideas. Really, I
think he was just plain crazy," shows that Shaun believes Chris had no common sense in his doing
for leaving society for the wild. I agree with Callarman's position for thinking " he had no common
sense" and that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think he just wanted to pursue life in a different way. Chris was not seeing life the way anyone else
was so he decided to brush off into the wild and be free on his own. Though he did not survive he
was still a very bright, arrogant human being. Shaun Callarman states, "He had no common sense,
and he had no business going into Alaska with his Romantic silliness." Chris knew going into the
wild that he did not have much survival skills but that did not stop him from doing what he wanted
to do because he did not care about society and was just completely over everything which was why
he made the move to the wilderness. This clearly shows us that Chris did not have much common
sense. If he had better survival skills and common sense he probably would have known not to eat
that poisonous berry. It was his dream to be in the wild and he decided to pursue it. I respect his
decisions and i personally believe it was a good decision other than the fact of him dying. He made
the infinitive decision to do all of this so why stop

My Grandmother And The Experience In The Life Of My...
7)one of my emotional advances I had in my life was, when I lost a loved one by me or a loved one.
That person is about my grandmother who died, for me it was a very painful and psychological
experience. is an experience that goes through many tears because my grandmother was the person I
loved the most, she became my mom in my best friend always helped me in the nececitava and
advised me very well so that in the future I would be a good man . when I find out that she was dead
I felt something in my soul and in my heart a very sad feeling and pain. I could not believe my
grandmother was dead. I felt that a part of my soul was being torn away. the love for my
grandmother was so special that her death was so painful for me mentally. 10 )It was my last days in
Lima and I felt very sad. I did not want to walk, see monuments or talk to anyone, but despite
everything being in the room would have been a waste of time, so I hopped on a bus to take a tour of
the historic capital of Peru. Along the way, several vendors of magical remedies, Bibles and
encyclopedias came up and interacted with people with a shout. Of course, I had to sell myself. A
salesman asked me a question that I did not even hear, and I, who besides being sad and not having
the slightest desire to speak, I can be extremely embarrassing, I was blocked and I chose not to
respond, believing that it would leave me in peace . Crude mistake: the seller again insisted. Before

I felt the coldness of the November winds pass through my headphones as I was getting the car to go

not like we were going to get a pet anyway. Everyone was talking I wasn't paying attention. I was
just staring and imagining that everyone was racing to get to one place. My sister started to try and
get my attention. "Hey Will, when we get there do you wanna see the fish with me?". "Sure," I said
just thinking about my old dog and how I would ride on her when I was really young and weighed
less than her. Her name was Samantha, Sam. I loved her more than anything even more than my
parents. When we had to put her down I was heart broken. I would never feel the way I felt with her
ever again. Even just thinking of her makes me sad now, until I saw her. I stepped out of my car
thinking about Sam. "Ashley, do you ever think of Sam," I said without getting teary eyed. "Will,
you know we all do."She responded, and she was right, I always dreamed that Sam would come
back. As I stepped inside I looked at the tall shelves filled with animal materials. I walked around in
the bird sections and tried to get the birds to talk to me. The fur of the birds looked sleek every
feather more pretty than the next. I next when down to the fish aquarium thing. The aquarium had

Zero Dark Thirty
Zero Dark Thirty The movie "Zero Dark Thirty" is a film about the hunt and the assassination of
Osama bin Laden by the United States Navy SEAL Team Six. The Navy SEALs had criticism of
how some events portrayed the real effects. Based upon research, the facts about the real account
portray the movie's best effort to create the authenticity of the actual event. The movie captivates
viewers with the master plan, to raid and kill the Al–Qaeda leader known as Osama bin Laden.
It all starts out with a young lady named Maya, who works for the United States Central Intelligence
Agency. Later, Dan and Maya then interrogate a man named Abu Fajar to get him to spill who is the
Al–Qaeda leader, who was responsible for all the 9/11 attacks. He won't tell her anything and keeps
denying any knowing for any character that fits the role. So then, they are forced to torture him to
get any knowledge he possesses.
Abu finally spills an address and so Maya looks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hardest part was the raid, which takes place at night when they least expect the enemy because
most of them were sleeping when they raided. The SEALs then raid successfully and get into the
room with Osama, his wife, and two kids'. They enforced him to put his hands up and to get down,
he didn't follow so one of the soldier's shot him right there. He later then bled out and died on May
2, 2011, when the plan went one hundred percent correctly.
"Zero Dark Thirty" was made in 2012 and the director wanted to show all Americans what it was
like to raid and kill Osama bin Laden. Also, to enforce viewers how terrorizing Osama really was
and how close we were to actually let him launch another terrorist attack before we killed him. The
director did a good job by making the movie mostly similar to the actual events of what really
happened. There were some inaccuracies during this movie but overall, it was accurate in the way a
movie can be

Similarities Between The Great Gatsby And Tom Buchanan
Nick Carraway and Tom Buchanan had some similarities and differences . They are both liars, they
lie about many things. Gatsby lied about who he really is and Tom lies to get out of things. They
both are living a fake life, a double life. Gatsby was pretending he came from a wealthy family
when in reality his family is dirt poor. Tom was having an affair with another woman who does not
come from the same social class as him and had an apartment with her in New York. The apartment
was a place where they both can get away from their 'other' life. Although, they both are very
wealthy and had a lot of money, they come from different social class. Tom was born rich so he did

Gatsby met Daisy before she even knew Tom, but because he was poor he could not have her. He
was gone for five years yet he still loved her and was still loyal to her. He bought a house right
across the bay from Daisy's house and threw so many big parties because he was hoping it would
catch her attention. "Once in awhile I go off on a spree and make a fool of myself, but I always
come back, and in my heart I love her all the time." (Fitzgerald 131) Tom admitted that he toys with
a lot of women, but at the end of the day he always comes back to Daisy. I think the reason why
Tom cheated on Daisy because he wanted to to feel needed. Daisy never really wanted to marry Tom
and was not interested in him. She did marry him because he had money, but Daisy was also very
wealthy, so she did not need him or his money to make her happy. She will do just fine on her own if
she left him. Maybe he just wanted someone to need him and make him feel wanted so that is why
he cheated on her. Myrtle was poor trying to be in the wealthy class and being with Tom lets her feel
like she is apart of the wealthy class because whatever she wants, Tom gets it for her. One example,
is the dog. " I want to get one of those dogs,' she said earnestly. 'I want to get one for the
apartment. They are nice to have–a dog." ( Fitzgerald 27 ) Myrtle wanted a dog for the apartment and
Tom bought it for her without even questioning it. She did not even know how to properly take care
of it. She just wanted the dog just so she can spend Tom's money. Although it may not seem like
Tom actually loved Daisy. When he found out that Daisy was going to Gatsby's parties, he followed
her to Gatsby's to keep an eye on her. He even had a background check on Gatsby to see who he
really was because he felt threatened by

Role of Conflict Essay
Chelsea Williams
Role of Conflict
The two stories I chose were "The Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin and "The Carnival Dog, the
Buyer of Diamonds" by Ethan Canin. Both conflicts have similar ideas, which can be compared and
contrasted as I have below. These elements include theme, setting and characters.
The first element to discus is theme. In "The Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin the theme is the
self–independence of women. In the beginning of the story, the main character, Louise Mallard
mourns over the death of her husband, Mallard. As the story progresses, Louise Mallard grows as
she sees the new found freedom she has been given at the loss of her husband. "... she would live for
herself. There would be no powerful will bending ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
". He sprinted back down to the house, sat down on the stops, and decided it wasn't so bad to go to
the mountains in July." When given the chance, he ends up giving up and letting his father win. He
believes that something this small isn't worth the fight in the end. Though, later on Myron is faced
with a much larger decision. He is unhappy in medical school and wants to quit so that he can find
contentment in doing what he wants, even though he knows his father won't agree. This was his
biggest decision to escape his father but he fails. Abe dominates Myron, once again as he always
has. Myron ends up backing down and ultimately letting his father win as he always has.
"Do you give?"
"What?"
"Do you give?"
"You mean, will I go back to school?"
"That's what I mean."
"Look," Myron said, "you're crazy."
"Give me your answer."
............ "I give."
In the end, Myron continues to live under his father.
The second element to discuss is the setting. The Setting in "The Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin
seems to have great influence towards the conflict of the story. The story seems to be set in the time
that the author, Kate Chopin lived in, around the nineteenth century. This was a time when a
woman's independence was looked down on. At this time they believed a man was needed in a
woman's life to support

in so much pain, so I laid there on the ground with gruesome scrapes and bruises thinking, "God
please help me." My face turned as red as a fire hydrant, while I balled my eyes out. As soon as I
looked down at my wrist I kept telling myself "this isn't broken, this can not be happening." While
my worried looking neighbor was walking my bike back to my house, I was slowly walking with
him and Carson. Carson immediately ran into the house screaming, "HELP!" My parents came
running out to see what problem existed. My neighbor made sure that my parents were aware of
everything that happened and eventually left after being truly appreciated by them. I weakly walked
into my house then, sat on my bed while still crying profusely. The tears of pain and fear did not
stop for a long time. I kept telling my family that I wanted to go to my friend Nikki's house because
her mom is a nurse. I trusted her with my whole heart and wanted to get her perspective on my
wrist. Finally, my parents drove us to Nikki's house. Her mom, said with

Common Sense by Thomas Paine
Common Sense was written by Thomas Paine and published in 1776. Paine wrote it as a plea for the
American people to break away from Britain and to declare independence from the king. He was
asking his audience to take a step back and see that just because something is tradition, does not
mean it is necessarily right. Paine wanted to show his readers that government and society is not the
same thing, which is how most people viewed it. Society was something that people should want to
have, while a government is something that people had to have in order to keep themselves in check.
That by paying the various taxes, the people were inadvertently paying to live in such bad
conditions. America should break away from and form a democratic party, one that allowed the
people to decide what rules they should have. Britain was too far away to be able to rule the colonies
correctly. That in being so far away it would take forever for Parliament to respond to any
complaints that America might have. Britain was not a favorite with other countries and therefore
the colonies were at a greater risk of war because of it. He spoke to his readers in a way so that even
the simplest of people would understand how desperately America needed to establish its
independence. Some people thought that the dispute between America and Britain should be
resolved, Paine wanted to show the people that even if the two came to a satisfactory agreement,
that it would not last. The history

I was your prisoner, you wrapped me in skin tight chains I could never escape from. You knew of
everything I could've ever wanted and now you're the reason my life was brutally taken away from

of it because my mother was the type of person to over exaggerate the little things such as not

dad screaming in the background. That's when my mother told me to come to the hospital that

The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Tom Ripley is a talented imitator, it seems the only person Tom cannot quite comprehend is himself.
Ripley isolates himself from people by being non–isolated, he finds himself in very social situations,
yet he does not quite understand how one should be in social interactions. However people find
themselves attracted to him because he is so great at acting and reading people and learning how to
manipulate them into believing that he is not actually socially alienated, he somehow becomes the
life of the party. Tom Ripley was such a fantastic impostor he would sometimes find himself lost in
one of his characters that he was putting on. In the film it starts with him playing the piano at a
wedding filling in for a young man that went to Princeton, after meeting Mr. Greenleaf he kept up
the same character from Princeton. "Tom had been very friendly last summer with a Princeton junior
who had talked of nothing but Princeton, so that Tom had finally pumped him for more and more,
foreseeing a time when he might be able to use the information" (Highsmith, 21). Ripley was always
remembering information from different people he met assuming that if need be he could pull out
that information in sticky situations. One thing about Tom Ripley was that he found himself in
sticky situations more often then some, this left him feeling paranoid that people were after him at
all times. This is no way to live life, especially when the way you want to live your life is behind the
curtains.

A Short Note On The And Its Effects On The World 's Mini...
I began popping pills when I was thirteen. Anything and everything I could get my hands on. My
friends and I would meet before school, taking various containers out of our bags. Mine was a
Wrigley's Doublemint Gum tin. We would open them up, displaying pills of various shapes, colors,
and sizes. We had our own mini pharmacy with it's own barter system of sorts. A few anti–
depressants for an Adderall, or a muscle relaxer for a Klonopin. Half of them we didn 't even know
what they were. We all could get different stuff, so together we had a rainbow of pharmaceuticals.
My favorite however, was Effexor. My grandmother had them for depression associated with bipolar
disorder, but she never took them. It was easy to swipe the bottle. The pills were these bright orange
capsules, with little white beads inside. It felt like a maraca as they slid down my throat. Over time,
taking one, became taking four at a time. After taking them I would experience severe stomach
cramps, nausea, dizziness, and migraines. My friends were popping pills for fun, but I was taking
them to suffer. I wanted so badly to forget about the emotional pain I was going through, I wanted to
feel physically how I felt mentally everyday. If I hurt, that 's all I could focus on, everything else
disappeared. All the self–doubt and self–hate vanished. I just wanted a moment of peace inside my
brain. It was June 23rd, 2012, the summer before my freshman year, when I decided once and for

Through The Tunnel Short Story
Everybody has experienced the innocence of the childhood mind. Whether you see it in another
child or experienced it yourself, everyone at some point has come across a kid who is figuring out
their way in this world. Many kids are curious and adventurous and these tactics are usually
motivated from within. The constant push to have more adult behaviors is usually self started,
beginning with the child wanting to be treated more like an adult. In the stories "Through the
Tunnel", "The Passage" and "The Intruder", all of the children push themselves into being adults
instead of being pressured by others. Instead, they have all of the pressure on their own shoulders.
Therefore, in the following stories, the author utilizes key symbols to exaggerate a young child's
own motivational push into adulthood. In the story "Through the tunnel," the author displays the
tunnel as a symbol that represents a child's constant need to feel mature and to fit in with the older
kids. Jerry, the young boy wanted so desperately to be treated older than he was, so he persuaded his
mother to allow him to swim by the older boys. He exclaimed "To be with them, of them, was a
craving that filled his whole body" (Lessing 2). This shows a glance of Jerry's desire to be one of the
others that he looked up to. He so desperately wanted to be like the other boys that he looked past all
worries and knew he had to conquer the tunnel: "He knew he must find his way through the cave, or
hole, or

Analyzing The Movie 'Wanted'
Wanted! When you hear, or say that term, the visual that may come to mind may be: criminal, old
western movie, or even a comparison to a relationship. But in relation to the movie Wanted it stands
for nothing but a guy that wanted no more in life but to find his purpose. A lot of us in this world
never actually find our purpose in life, we just kind of settle for what we are able to do. We go
through trials and tribulations to find ourselves, and find anything that will make our lives more
satisfying, including putting ourselves in harms way to do it. This film stars Angelina Jolie, Morgan
Freeman, and James McAvoy, which names all scream a killer movie to me. The theme represented

The first theme demonstrated in this movie is Perseverance, which was illustrated in the film by
Wesley, and his determination to go through all the physical test to meet standards of the fraternity.
His whole intention throughout the movie was to prove that he could become more than what he
always has considered himself, which is below average. When Wesley was in training he got beat up
by multiple people in the fraternity, in an attempt to make him physically strong to stand anything.
He learned tasks including fighting, knife work, and also how to curve a bullet. When he was
learning to curve the bullet Sloan, played by Morgan Freeman, states "The first time in your life
Wesley, you are in control (Bekmambetov, "Wanted"). As he shoots multiple bullets and still pierces
the wrong target, Fox then stands in the middle of him and the target and says, "shoot the target"
(Bekmambetov, "Wanted"). As hesitant as he was, he knew he had to have confidence in himself to
complete the task. As he shoots around Fox, not knowing if the bullet would hit her, he takes his
shot and hits the correct target. Sloan then says 'Welcome to the fraternity" (Bekmambetov,
"Wanted"). He then knew all his hard work had paid off! That part of the movie showed strength and
perseverance.
Another way both themes, deceit and perseverance, were shown was at the end of the movie when

Conan O Brien: A Blog Analysis
"When all else fails, there's always delusion." That's one of several best–loved quotes from my
favorite ginger, Conan O'Brien, and is the inspiration for the name of this blog. I may be delusional
for wanting to express myself and leave an impression on readers by starting this blog but I'm doing
it anyway. For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to make real, lasting connections with people.
My earliest memory of my desire to connect and leave a lasting impression on someone was as a
student at Hybla Valley Elementary. I was kind of obsessed with my third grade teacher. Her name
was Miss Madonna Brown and the coolest teacher I ever had. She was a former ballet dancer, wore
cool leather pants, and was a lover of horror books and films. ... Show more content on

I was stunned when she told the class she'd be transferring to a different school for the next year. It
made me sad to think I'd never see my favorite teacher again. One day in fourth grade, my teacher
told us Miss Brown would be visiting the school to see us. I was thrilled! I remember her visit well.
It was lunchtime and all the students were in the cafeteria. Miss Brown showed up and my heart
filled with glee in anticipation. I thought for sure she'd single me out from the crowd of students and
walk up to me and give me a big hug and ask me how I was doing. But that's not how it went down.
She made her rounds and smiled, waved and quickly said hello to her former students, including me.
And just as quickly as she showed up, she left. There was no special moment. I was heartbroken. I
thought for sure I'd stand out to her as one of her favorite students. I mean, I had dinner at her place
for god's sake! How many students could say that? I wanted so much for my favorite teacher to
remember me in the way I thought of her as an exceptional teacher.
My experience with Miss Brown is admittedly slightly weird and awkward, I know. But, my
feelings and intentions at the time were sincere and honest and demonstrate my genuine eagerness
today to connect and leave a favorable and lasting impression on people. I may not have had the
lasting impact on Miss Brown that I imagined. Who knows? Regardless, my admiration for her and
the positive impression she left on me lasts to this

Jerry's Cabin: A Short Story
Jerry was a stranger in his own home. The cabin felt foreign to him as he lay there, his stomach in
knots and his heart beating unsteadily. He couldn't formulate any semblance of a rational thought,
his mind turning to all those lines of cocaine he'd done earlier. He wanted it again. He itched for it.
He wanted so badly to just lose himself again, to make the pain go away. But, he was immobilized.
It wasn't that he couldn't move. It was that every movement felt like trudging through quicksand.
Even just the simple act of rubbing his beard, a nervous tic that usually came while writing, felt
almost impossible.
He still couldn't wrap his head around what happened. Not being in his right mind was terrifying. It
was like renting out a body, or even worse, having someone rent out his. He wanted to scream, to
break the deafening silence that shrouded him, but no sound came. The only break in his mental
meltdown was the sight of a woman entering his room carrying a tray. He'd been so catatonic prior,
he hadn't noticed her before. Or had he been sleeping? Everything was such a fucking blur.
When she approached, his eyes widened. His body, not moving a muscle, took in the sight of her.

Themes In To Build A Fire By Jack London
Authors disclose important information about the themes present in their story, but often do not
directly state it. In the story "To Build A Fire" by Jack London, the author creates an endearing and
suspenseful story about a man travelling alone in the frigid and snowy Yukon valley, in search of
gold. The only that was with him were his little clothes and belongings, and a dog he did not know
much about. While the temperature of the Yukon were certainly extremely dangerous to be out in,
the man went on his journey anyway, and inevitably landed himself in death. Through the narration
of his conquest, the reader can see that by lacking common sense and instinct, one can create many
problems for oneself. Throughout London's story, the reader can ... Show more content on

As he trudged through the snow with the native dog at his heels, his thoughts were not occupied by
the danger that he was putting himself into. The temperatures in the Yukon were about 75 degrees
below zero, but that had no effect on the man, and did not phase him. The narrator states, " He was
quick and ready in the things of life, but only in the things, and not in their meaning" (London 1).
While the man could act fast when in dire situations, he lacked a common sense and natural human
instinct that could prevent him from landing in those situations in the first place. This quality
certainly took its toll on the man later in his journey, when his lack of realization of the cold finally
caught up to him. The narrator also stated, "Nor did he think about man's general weakness, able to
live only within narrow limits of heat and cold" (London 1). Once again, the unwise man did not
take into account the frigid and life–threatening temperatures he was facing. Humans obviously
cannot survive in conditions like those, but the man, being ignorant, ignored this and went on with
his journey anyway. The man definitely showed his foolishness because he was so careless about his

Lord Of The Flies Quote Analysis
"When you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self–sacrifice–you may know
that your society is doomed"(Rand). This was stated by Russian–American novelist Ayn Rand; the
extract relates to the novel William Golding wrote called Lord of the Flies. Golding wrote about a
group of schoolboys trapped on an island from a plane crash. The boys had to figure out how to
survive without grownups. Trying to survive was difficult because they had to have common sense
and order. They lose those traits throughout the book which resulted in selfishness and corrupt
behaviors.
Common sense is something we can all treasure as humans, though the boys in Golding's novel
didn't have much. One of the characters, Ralph, showed common sense through wanting to make
shelters, find food, and get saved. "There's another thing. We can help them find us. If a ship comes
near the island they may notice us. So we must make smoke on top of the mountain. We must make
a fire" (Golding 38). Ralph wanted to build that fire to let someone know where they were and that
showed common sense. On the other hand another character, Jack, showed he had a lack of
discernment towards what work should be done first: "'We want meat.' 'Well, we haven't got any yet.
And we want shelters. Besides, the rest of your hunters came back hours ago. They've been
swimming" (51). He also let the others see doing whatever you want is more fun by not doing
anything but hunting; he even went as far as letting the fire

Analysis Of Into The Wild, By Jon Krakauer

Shaun Callarman's argument for Jon Krakauer's book Into the wild claims that Christopher

"the ability to think and behave in a reasonable way and to make good decisions". I feel there is no
true definition of acceptable or reasonable, if one were to choose to live life by following society,
then I would think that would be reasonable, however, if one were to choose to live life following a
desire out of their comfort zone I would also think that would be reasonable and no one should

From Suffering To Overcoming By John Walsh
From Suffering to Overcoming Imagine taking your young child with you to run errands. You race
into Target and then are delayed as you search for the one item you need. In that one moment, your
child walks off to find the toy section. You begin to search around you and then quickly become
frantic. Your mind takes you places you have always feared. What if someone has taken my baby?
This scene and other similar to it are far too familiar in our world.
An estimated 797,000 children are reported missing in one year, however, only approximately 100
of them are stereotypical kidnappings (Martindale 6). Many times children that are reported missing
have either run away or cannot be found for a few hours. Only a handful are taken for ransom and
against their own will. The stereotypical kidnapping, which is very rare, " involves abduction by a
stranger or slight acquaintance who detains the child overnight, transports him or her at least 50
miles, holds the child for ransom or intends to keep him permanently, or kills the child"(Martindale
6). John Walsh, host of America's Most Wanted, criminal investigator, and loving father of Adam
Walsh has placed his mark on a world full of corruption and dangerous crimes. After the murder of
his son, John Walsh used this tragic event as a motivation and inspiration to become passionate for
the safety of others. He has been able to bring some safety to a world that is full of treacherous and

Analytical Essay: A Most Wanted Man
A Most Wanted Man was one of those books that makes you think "I cannot wait to get home and sit

because it is very hard for me to sit down and be still for long periods of time. With this book
however I found myself reading for hours and through 4 or 5 chapters a night. Le Carré did an
amazing job at keeping the reader's attention and involving just the right amount of context without

Ben Huur And The Movie : A Comparison Of The Ben-Hur
Do you like movies that has betrayal, rowing in galleys, revenge in a chariot race, and seeing a little
bit of Jesus? If so, the Ben–Hur movies would be a good weekend watch. The first Ben–Hur was
made in 1959 with William Wyler as director and Robert Surtees as cinematographer. This is known
as the original movie out of the two. It also consists of a good three hours and forty–four minutes of
watch time and is given a "G" rating. The second Ben–Hur was made in 2016 by director Timur
Bekmambetov and cinematographer Oliver Wood. However it is given a rating of "PG–13" and has
a watch time of two hours and thirty minutes. Both have the story line between them with the setting
in Jerusalem in the time of Jesus, Judah Ben–Hur was betrayed by his adopted brother Messala to
the Roman Empire. Separated From his sister and mother, Ben–Hur was made into a slave and
rowed in the galleys for 5 years. Believing his family to be dead, he hopes to get revenge on his
brother who took everything from him. Judah Ben–Hur was played by Charlton Heston in the 1957
movie and Jack Huston 2016. Messala was played by Stephen Boyd in 1957 and Toby Kebbell in
2016. I will be discussing the differences between the stories of the movies and the differences of
the Judah and Messala. Now just to put this out there, yes! Of course there's going to be a lot of
changes between movies from the past 59 years. They both have some ups and downs though. One
good change between them I would say is the battle in the galleys. In the 1957 version, they showed
mostly rowing inside the galleys. While in the 2016 version, it actually shows the battles that's going
on outside the ship. It showed a lot more action than the original. One thing I did not like that was
changed was certain events were taken out. In the 2016 version, they get rid of a large portion of the
story of him saving the captain of the ship and was adopted after 3 years saving him as they did in
the 1957 version. Instead they literally kill off the captain of the ship. Which also makes me want to
talk about the characters between the two movies. In both the stories, it is still that both brothers try
to get on revenge and try killing each other. They both still have a very

1984 Missing Children
On July 27, 1981 Adam Walsh was in the toy department of Sears playing video games while his

Common Themes In Paul's Case
Paul's Unexpected Consequences After reading "Paul's Case" which was written by "Willa Cather"
and its movie, which was directed by Lamont Johnson, there was a common theme between both the
movie and the book. This common theme dealt with wealth and how it affected our main character,
Paul. It affected him in unexpected ways. These ways were both positive and negative and even had
a long term effect on him. The common theme was how the pursuit of wealth can have unexpected
consequences that are both positive, negative and could even last a lifetime. While Paul was seeking
wealth either through his part time job at the theater as an usher or by taking his father's check it led
to an unexpectedly positive outcome. This was that Paul had a ... Show more content on

This quote allows the reader to see that Paul's "new life" was quickly coming to an end and that he
was going to be forced to go back to his normal life if he was not able to come up with a plan
quickly. The possibility of having to go back to live with his father in his normal life may have
clouded Paul's idea of reality. Even though Paul unexpectedly experienced both positive and
negative consequences on his quest for wealth, he also experienced a long term effect when he
decided to take his own life. Paul made his decision when he realized that he didn't want to have to
go back living in his small town and having to work at the theater. The idea of Paul ending his life
was first brought to the viewer's attention when the camera zoomed into Paul's bag as he got off the
train. The bag is left on the train which made the viewer start to wonder why Paul is leaving it. It
now causes the viewer to question what is going through Paul's mind and it also builds suspense.
Another prime example that helped drive home the idea that Paul was about the make a decision that
would have a long lasting impact on him was when he was getting a ride home from the train station
from a horse and buggy. Instead of having the horse and buggy drop him off at his house, he tells the
driver that he could drop him off in the middle of the woods and that

didn't exist. It just wasn't something that was physically possible until someone reached at least one
hundred and fifty years of age or so. The government had issued a statement during the genetic
renaissance that said that the whole population had had their genetic codes altered to allow for
enzymes to quickly fix anything that was broken. Dewey being an incredibly smart boy for his
eleven years, a genius one might even call him, was left stumped by the image that was replaying
over and over in his head. He saw no way for death to be possible. His older sister, Ariata, had
suggested that maybe some people could die but no one knew when they did. He had
wholeheartedly rejected that theory, but it left his mind whirring with possibilities. Oh the endless
possibilities, he thought to himself.
Several hours after the days gruesome events, Dewey found himself alone in his room, pondering
the unlikeliness of the situation. His room was filled with a myriad of scientific instruments. They
were strewn across his floor along with several pieces of paper covered in calculations and ideas. A
hamster cage sat on a table in the corner. Dewey stared at the cage. It was home to his Hamster
Daxel, who was just about as old as Dewey was. Dewey silently approached the cage wondering if

Movie, Film Stars Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman, And...
Wanted
The theme represented
in this movie is not only deceit and lack of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As hesitant as he was he knew he had to have confidence in himself to
complete the task.

Middle School Is Not The Easiest Time
Gnome Good
I don't believe that I will ever be able to forget middle school. For me, middle school was not the
easiest time in my life. I had just moved to a new town and I wasn't the best at making friends.
Trying to form new friendships, while also starting middle school was not an easy task. I had just
started the sixth grade at a new school, with new faces, new classrooms, and a new teacher. I had a
typical schedule for a sixth grader, nothing too difficult. Social Studies, Science, Gym, Math, and
my least favorite, English. Although I enjoy English now, I can't say that I always have. At that point
in my life, English was something that I was not great at and thought I would never be great at. I
worked hard in class and tried my best, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a sixth–grader, I had what Dweck refers to as a fixed mindset. In her TED Talk The Power of
Yet, Dweck states, "if you get a failing grade, you think, I'm nothing, I'm nowhere". In other words,
Dweck believes that students that do not receive the grade they want, immediately consider
themselves failures. The concept of failure is prominent in an excerpt from On Writing, by Stephen
King, a popular writer from Maine. King states, "Now that I was away from the administrative
offices of Lisbon High, I felt able to muster a little honesty. I told Mr. Gould that I didn't know much
about sports". In making this statement, King leads us to believe that he is afraid of failing. Similar
to Dweck's idea of fixed mindset, King presents a fixed mindset towards his ability to write about
sports. King is afraid of failure and is, therefore, presenting a fixed mindset towards his writing
capabilities.
Even as an 11–year–old in middle school, I struggled with the idea of failing, and I believe that is
why I was so afraid to have my narrative critiqued. I could not accept failure.
"Interesting", she said as she read my story. "This makes absolutely no sense; you have gone from
one place to another without any explanation as to how your characters ended up there." Laughing,
she remarked, "Courtney, this is gnome good!"
My face turned hot and I raged with anger, in that moment, I felt complete hatred for my English
teacher.

Descriptive Zoo
The Zoo
It was cloudy Friday night, and my friend Keri and her mom Mrs.Jenny was coming over at 9:00pm
and boy was I happy, but they got here late, but it was fine with me because I was thinking to myself
you are going to have to whole day tomorrow and I was so excited. Then they got here we talked
and got sleep arrangements set and went to bed late like everyone would do on a Friday night. But it
was Saturday and that is went it got weird. We got up and had a delicious breakfast, we had
pancakes and cinnamon rolls. After that we got dressed into our bathing suits to go tubing on our
boat, but it was really cold and we were so excited we only took 15 minutes to get ready but we left
around 30 later. My dad made this funny joke saying take, it takes an hour to get there, but the
reality is that it only took 5 minutes.
But we got there and got in the boat after feeling like 5 hours, then we took off. Well, that's want you
would think, but the boat would not start and then re was smoke coming out of the motor and It
would not start so we had to go home with the whole car disappointed, but my dad said that we
could do something instead, so, we were all excited to go home and pick another place to go to and
have my dad's special hamburgers, well at least that is what he said but it was really just bought and
made but it is special to me. The hamburgers were delicious, my dad even cooks the buns, and did I
mention the hamburgers were grilled, well they were. Then Keri and I were think about what we
wanted to do. To be honest, it is harder than it sounds. But the options we came down to is Dave and
busters, the zoo, and sky zone. We talked it over at lunch.
But we ended up going to the.... Zoo. After we were cleaned everything up we got on the road, but it
was only 21 minutes away, at least it was on the way there. Then we got to the zoo and I could see
the giraffes lifting their heads over the shed. The only downside was it was packed, although I
would not be surprised because it was a Saturday. We got in it was not too bad of a line it was only
about 5 minutes. Then we payed and got in. There was so much there I was almost overwhelmed. I
thought to myself what should we look at first, but it was pretty

Theme Of Trifles

  • 1. Theme Of Trifles Glaspell creates a powerful image within the play, Trifles and mimics the life of a bird to one of a human. In the play, Mrs. Wright works tirelessly in her lonely home with no one but an ungrateful and cold husband to The dead Canary symbolizes Mrs Wright's imprisonment Mrs Wright has been imprisoned in all aspects of her life. When Mrs wright married her husband, her life became one of a prisoner. She is constantly doing work and never has a moment of peace for herself. She has been expected to do not only household chores but also has to take care of the farm while Mr. Wright is out on the town. Whether it is jarring her preserves or scrubbing the stove, she always has something to work on. Knowing that she is the only one in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It reminded her of when she was younger and did not have all of the problems that she has now, it brought her back to a simpler time in her life. Even though Mrs. Wright was constantly cleaning and doing the work around the house, her house still had an extremely sad and gloomy vibe to it. It was very dark and cold. Earlier in Mrs. Wright's life she had cared about herself and she cared about how she looked. Now she is so overworked that it seems strange when she dresses up or tries to look nice. For example, Mrs. Hale says that "she had looked all done up" and mentions that it seemed strange for her (Glaspell, 2). Now she is too busy to care about every single detail of the house and her appearance. She has so much to do that she cannot worry about every single stitch being absolutely perfect. She cannot worry about her hair and her lipstick. So not only is her house gloomy, but her outward appearance is as well. When it came to the canary, her eye drew to it like a magnet and it brought a light back to her that was lost for a long time. Her bird was so beautiful that it brought color to her dark and sad world. It was bright and bold and had such a way in its patterns that made her happy in her dark home. It symbolized her past life and how it used to be full of happiness and beauty. Throughout the story it was very evident that Mrs. Wright was not like the other women in that town, According to Mrs. Hale, "She didn't even belong to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The FBI was being very accommodating, especially since they were the ones that would be able to take the credit for the arrest. Depending on what TV show you liked to watch, the FBI interrogation room looked just like that. Plain white walls with a metal table bolted to the floor. Alexandrov sat across from him, his handcuffs clipped into a hook on the table. His reflection in the mirror behind Corbin's head. Multiple red lights from cameras glowed from different corners of the room. Recording every word, every facial movement, and every flick of the eye. But Patria Donmari, she could do what no one else could do. She could wake the Sleepers by making a psychic connection with them, then guide them back to the living world. It seemed like a lifetime ago, but in reality it had only been weeks since he'd fought against his own nightmare called Julia, and woke in Atlanta Georgia at Batesha Labs. It had not been Patria that woke him, but Dr. Marco Cavick. With the help of the buffer serum Hannah Cavick injected him with in Paris, Corbin was able to navigate through Somus and wake. He wanted to shake his head at the bizarre twists and turn of events that had been his life recently. Patria being the biggest mystery of all. Corbin and his team caught Alexandrov after he showed up at Hannah's house during the Thanksgiving celebration yesterday. He tried to shoot Patria with a dart, dipped in god knows what. The student board got the whole class together for a trip to Kings Dominion in Deswell, Virginia. We did a bunch of fundraisers because aint nobody have the money like hat. The Navy SEALs had criticism of how some events portrayed the real effects. Based upon research, the facts about the real account portray the movie's best effort to create the authenticity of the actual event. The movie captivates viewers with the master plan, to raid and kill the Al–Qaeda leader known as Osama bin Laden. It all starts out with a young lady named Maya, who works for the United States Central Intelligence Agency. Later, Dan and Maya then interrogate a man named Abu Fajar to get him to spill who is the Al–Qaeda leader, who was responsible for all the 9/11 attacks. "Once in awhile I go off on a spree and make a fool of myself, but I always come back, and in my heart I love her all the time." (Fitzgerald 131) Tom admitted that he toys with a lot of women, but at the end of the day he always comes back to Daisy. I think the reason why Tom cheated on Daisy because he wanted to to feel needed. Daisy never really wanted to marry Tom and was not interested in him. She did marry him because he had money, but Daisy was also very wealthy, so she did not need him or his money to make her happy. She will do just fine on her own if she left him. Maybe he just wanted someone to need him and make him feel wanted so that is why he cheated on her. Myrtle was poor trying to be in the wealthy class and being with Tom lets her feel like she is apart of the wealthy class because whatever she wants, Tom gets it for her. One example, is the dog. " I want to get one of those dogs,' she said earnestly. 'I want to get one for the apartment. They are nice to have–a dog." ( Fitzgerald 27 ) Myrtle wanted a dog for the apartment and Tom bought it for her without even questioning it. She did not even know how to properly take care of it. She just wanted the dog just so she can spend Tom's money. Although it may not seem like Tom actually loved Daisy. • 31. Role of Conflict Essay Chelsea Williams Role of Conflict The two stories I chose were "The Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin and "The Carnival Dog, the Buyer of Diamonds" by Ethan Canin. Both conflicts have similar ideas, which can be compared and contrasted as I have below. These elements include theme, setting and characters. The first element to discus is theme. In "The Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin the theme is the self–independence of women. In the beginning of the story, the main character, Louise Mallard mourns over the death of her husband, Mallard. As the story progresses, Louise Mallard grows as she sees the new found freedom she has been given at the loss of her husband. "... she would live for herself. He believes that something this small isn't worth the fight in the end. Though, later on Myron is faced with a much larger decision. He is unhappy in medical school and wants to quit so that he can find contentment in doing what he wants, even though he knows his father won't agree. This was his biggest decision to escape his father but he fails. Abe dominates Myron, once again as he always has. Myron ends up backing down and ultimately letting his father win as he always has. "Do you give?" "What?" "Do you give?" "You mean, will I go back to school?" "That's what I mean." "Look," Myron said, "you're crazy." "Give me your answer." ............ "I give." In the end, Myron continues to live under his father. The second element to discuss is the setting. The Setting in "The Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin seems to have great influence towards the conflict of the story. The story seems to be set in the time that the author, Kate Chopin lived in, around the nineteenth century. This was a time when a woman's independence was looked down on. At this time they believed a man was needed in a woman's life to support

  • 36. Common Sense by Thomas Paine Common Sense was written by Thomas Paine and published in 1776. Paine wrote it as a plea for the American people to break away from Britain and to declare independence from the king. He was asking his audience to take a step back and see that just because something is tradition, does not mean it is necessarily right. Paine wanted to show his readers that government and society is not the same thing, which is how most people viewed it. Society was something that people should want to have, while a government is something that people had to have in order to keep themselves in check. That by paying the various taxes, the people were inadvertently paying to live in such bad conditions. America should break away from and form a democratic party, one that allowed the people to decide what rules they should have. Britain was too far away to be able to rule the colonies correctly. That in being so far away it would take forever for Parliament to respond to any complaints that America might have. Britain was not a favorite with other countries and therefore the colonies were at a greater risk of war because of it. He spoke to his readers in a way so that even the simplest of people would understand how desperately America needed to establish its independence. Some people thought that the dispute between America and Britain should be resolved, Paine wanted to show the people that even if the two came to a satisfactory agreement, that it would not last. • 40. The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald Tom Ripley is a talented imitator, it seems the only person Tom cannot quite comprehend is himself. Ripley isolates himself from people by being non–isolated, he finds himself in very social situations, yet he does not quite understand how one should be in social interactions. However people find themselves attracted to him because he is so great at acting and reading people and learning how to manipulate them into believing that he is not actually socially alienated, he somehow becomes the life of the party. Tom Ripley was such a fantastic impostor he would sometimes find himself lost in one of his characters that he was putting on. In the film it starts with him playing the piano at a wedding filling in for a young man that went to Princeton, after meeting Mr. Greenleaf he kept up the same character from Princeton. "Tom had been very friendly last summer with a Princeton junior who had talked of nothing but Princeton, so that Tom had finally pumped him for more and more, foreseeing a time when he might be able to use the information" (Highsmith, 21). Ripley was always remembering information from different people he met assuming that if need be he could pull out that information in sticky situations. One thing about Tom Ripley was that he found himself in sticky situations more often then some, this left him feeling paranoid that people were after him at all times. This is no way to live life, especially when the way you want to live your life is behind the curtains. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. A Short Note On The And Its Effects On The World 's Mini... I began popping pills when I was thirteen. Anything and everything I could get my hands on. My friends and I would meet before school, taking various containers out of our bags. Mine was a Wrigley's Doublemint Gum tin. We would open them up, displaying pills of various shapes, colors, and sizes. We had our own mini pharmacy with it's own barter system of sorts. A few anti– depressants for an Adderall, or a muscle relaxer for a Klonopin. Half of them we didn 't even know what they were. We all could get different stuff, so together we had a rainbow of pharmaceuticals. My favorite however, was Effexor. My grandmother had them for depression associated with bipolar disorder, but she never took them. It was easy to swipe the bottle. The pills were these bright orange capsules, with little white beads inside. It felt like a maraca as they slid down my throat. Over time, taking one, became taking four at a time. After taking them I would experience severe stomach cramps, nausea, dizziness, and migraines. My friends were popping pills for fun, but I was taking them to suffer. I wanted so badly to forget about the emotional pain I was going through, I wanted to feel physically how I felt mentally everyday. If I hurt, that 's all I could focus on, everything else disappeared. All the self–doubt and self–hate vanished. I just wanted a moment of peace inside my brain. • 44. Through The Tunnel Short Story Everybody has experienced the innocence of the childhood mind. Whether you see it in another child or experienced it yourself, everyone at some point has come across a kid who is figuring out their way in this world. Many kids are curious and adventurous and these tactics are usually motivated from within. The constant push to have more adult behaviors is usually self started, beginning with the child wanting to be treated more like an adult. In the stories "Through the Tunnel", "The Passage" and "The Intruder", all of the children push themselves into being adults instead of being pressured by others. Instead, they have all of the pressure on their own shoulders. Therefore, in the following stories, the author utilizes key symbols to exaggerate a young child's own motivational push into adulthood. In the story "Through the tunnel," the author displays the tunnel as a symbol that represents a child's constant need to feel mature and to fit in with the older kids. Jerry, the young boy wanted so desperately to be treated older than he was, so he persuaded his mother to allow him to swim by the older boys. He exclaimed "To be with them, of them, was a craving that filled his whole body" (Lessing 2). This shows a glance of Jerry's desire to be one of the others that he looked up to. He so desperately wanted to be like the other boys that he looked past all worries and knew he had to conquer the tunnel: "He knew he must find his way through the cave, or hole, or ... That's one of several best–loved quotes from my favorite ginger, Conan O'Brien, and is the inspiration for the name of this blog. I may be delusional for wanting to express myself and leave an impression on readers by starting this blog but I'm doing it anyway. For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to make real, lasting connections with people. My earliest memory of my desire to connect and leave a lasting impression on someone was as a student at Hybla Valley Elementary. I was kind of obsessed with my third grade teacher. I remember her visit well. It was lunchtime and all the students were in the cafeteria. Miss Brown showed up and my heart filled with glee in anticipation. I thought for sure she'd single me out from the crowd of students and walk up to me and give me a big hug and ask me how I was doing. But that's not how it went down. She made her rounds and smiled, waved and quickly said hello to her former students, including me. And just as quickly as she showed up, she left. There was no special moment. I was heartbroken. I thought for sure I'd stand out to her as one of her favorite students. I mean, I had dinner at her place for god's sake! How many students could say that? I wanted so much for my favorite teacher to remember me in the way I thought of her as an exceptional teacher. My experience with Miss Brown is admittedly slightly weird and awkward, I know. But, my feelings and intentions at the time were sincere and honest and demonstrate my genuine eagerness today to connect and leave a favorable and lasting impression on people. In the story "To Build A Fire" by Jack London, the author creates an endearing and suspenseful story about a man travelling alone in the frigid and snowy Yukon valley, in search of gold. The only that was with him were his little clothes and belongings, and a dog he did not know much about. While the temperature of the Yukon were certainly extremely dangerous to be out in, the man went on his journey anyway, and inevitably landed himself in death. The temperatures in the Yukon were about 75 degrees below zero, but that had no effect on the man, and did not phase him. The narrator states, " He was quick and ready in the things of life, but only in the things, and not in their meaning" (London 1). While the man could act fast when in dire situations, he lacked a common sense and natural human instinct that could prevent him from landing in those situations in the first place. This quality certainly took its toll on the man later in his journey, when his lack of realization of the cold finally caught up to him. The narrator also stated, "Nor did he think about man's general weakness, able to live only within narrow limits of heat and cold" (London 1). Once again, the unwise man did not take into account the frigid and life–threatening temperatures he was facing. Humans obviously cannot survive in conditions like those, but the man, being ignorant, ignored this and went on with his journey anyway. This was stated by Russian–American novelist Ayn Rand; the extract relates to the novel William Golding wrote called Lord of the Flies. Golding wrote about a group of schoolboys trapped on an island from a plane crash. The boys had to figure out how to survive without grownups. Trying to survive was difficult because they had to have common sense and order. They lose those traits throughout the book which resulted in selfishness and corrupt behaviors. Common sense is something we can all treasure as humans, though the boys in Golding's novel didn't have much. One of the characters, Ralph, showed common sense through wanting to make shelters, find food, and get saved. "There's another thing. We can help them find us. If a ship comes near the island they may notice us. So we must make smoke on top of the mountain. We must make a fire" (Golding 38). Ralph wanted to build that fire to let someone know where they were and that showed common sense. On the other hand another character, Jack, showed he had a lack of discernment towards what work should be done first: "'We want meat.' 'Well, we haven't got any yet. And we want shelters. Besides, the rest of your hunters came back hours ago. They've been swimming" (51). You race into Target and then are delayed as you search for the one item you need. In that one moment, your child walks off to find the toy section. You begin to search around you and then quickly become frantic. Your mind takes you places you have always feared. What if someone has taken my baby? This scene and other similar to it are far too familiar in our world. An estimated 797,000 children are reported missing in one year, however, only approximately 100 of them are stereotypical kidnappings (Martindale 6). Many times children that are reported missing have either run away or cannot be found for a few hours. Only a handful are taken for ransom and against their own will. The stereotypical kidnapping, which is very rare, " involves abduction by a stranger or slight acquaintance who detains the child overnight, transports him or her at least 50 miles, holds the child for ransom or intends to keep him permanently, or kills the child"(Martindale 6). John Walsh, host of America's Most Wanted, criminal investigator, and loving father of Adam Walsh has placed his mark on a world full of corruption and dangerous crimes. If so, the Ben–Hur movies would be a good weekend watch. The first Ben–Hur was made in 1959 with William Wyler as director and Robert Surtees as cinematographer. This is known as the original movie out of the two. It also consists of a good three hours and forty–four minutes of watch time and is given a "G" rating. The second Ben–Hur was made in 2016 by director Timur Bekmambetov and cinematographer Oliver Wood. However it is given a rating of "PG–13" and has a watch time of two hours and thirty minutes. Both have the story line between them with the setting in Jerusalem in the time of Jesus, Judah Ben–Hur was betrayed by his adopted brother Messala to the Roman Empire. Separated From his sister and mother, Ben–Hur was made into a slave and rowed in the galleys for 5 years. Believing his family to be dead, he hopes to get revenge on his brother who took everything from him. Judah Ben–Hur was played by Charlton Heston in the 1957 movie and Jack Huston 2016. Messala was played by Stephen Boyd in 1957 and Toby Kebbell in 2016. I will be discussing the differences between the stories of the movies and the differences of the Judah and Messala. Now just to put this out there, yes! Of course there's going to be a lot of changes between movies from the past 59 years. They both have some ups and downs though. One good change between them I would say is the battle in the galleys. In the 1957 version, they showed mostly rowing inside the galleys. While in the 2016 version, it actually shows the battles that's going on outside the ship. It showed a lot more action than the original. One thing I did not like that was changed was certain events were taken out. In the 2016 version, they get rid of a large portion of the story of him saving the captain of the ship and was adopted after 3 years saving him as they did in the 1957 version. Instead they literally kill off the captain of the ship. Which also makes me want to talk about the characters between the two movies. In both the stories, it is still that both brothers try to get on revenge and try killing each other. They both still have a very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Common Themes In Paul's Case Paul's Unexpected Consequences After reading "Paul's Case" which was written by "Willa Cather" and its movie, which was directed by Lamont Johnson, there was a common theme between both the movie and the book. This common theme dealt with wealth and how it affected our main character, Paul. It affected him in unexpected ways. These ways were both positive and negative and even had a long term effect on him. The common theme was how the pursuit of wealth can have unexpected consequences that are both positive, negative and could even last a lifetime. Even though Paul unexpectedly experienced both positive and negative consequences on his quest for wealth, he also experienced a long term effect when he decided to take his own life. Paul made his decision when he realized that he didn't want to have to go back living in his small town and having to work at the theater. The bag is left on the train which made the viewer start to wonder why Paul is leaving it. It now causes the viewer to question what is going through Paul's mind and it also builds suspense. King states, "Now that I was away from the administrative offices of Lisbon High, I felt able to muster a little honesty. I told Mr. Gould that I didn't know much about sports". In making this statement, King leads us to believe that he is afraid of failing. Similar to Dweck's idea of fixed mindset, King presents a fixed mindset towards his ability to write about sports. King is afraid of failure and is, therefore, presenting a fixed mindset towards his writing capabilities. Even as an 11–year–old in middle school, I struggled with the idea of failing, and I believe that is why I was so afraid to have my narrative critiqued. I could not accept failure. Descriptive Zoo The Zoo It was cloudy Friday night, and my friend Keri and her mom Mrs.Jenny was coming over at 9:00pm and boy was I happy, but they got here late, but it was fine with me because I was thinking to myself you are going to have to whole day tomorrow and I was so excited. Then they got here we talked and got sleep arrangements set and went to bed late like everyone would do on a Friday night. But it was Saturday and that is went it got weird. We got up and had a delicious breakfast, we had pancakes and cinnamon rolls. After that we got dressed into our bathing suits to go tubing on our boat, but it was really cold and we were so excited we only took 15 minutes to get ready but we left around 30 later. My dad made this funny joke saying take, it takes an hour to get there, but the reality is that it only took 5 minutes. But we got there and got in the boat after feeling like 5 hours, then we took off. Well, that's want you would think, but the boat would not start and then re was smoke coming out of the motor and It would not start so we had to go home with the whole car disappointed, but my dad said that we could do something instead, so, we were all excited to go home and pick another place to go to and have my dad's special hamburgers, well at least that is what he said but it was really just bought and made but it is special to me. The hamburgers were delicious, my dad even cooks the buns, and did I mention the hamburgers were grilled, well they were. Then Keri and I were think about what we wanted to do. To be honest, it is harder than it sounds. But the options we came down to is Dave and busters, the zoo, and sky zone. We talked it over at lunch. But we ended up going to the.... Zoo. After we were cleaned everything up we got on the road, but it was only 21 minutes away, at least it was on the way there. Then we got to the zoo and I could see the giraffes lifting their heads over the shed. The only downside was it was packed, although I would not be surprised because it was a Saturday. We got in it was not too bad of a line it was only about 5 minutes. Then we payed and got in. There was so much there I was almost overwhelmed. I thought to myself what should we look at first, but it was pretty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
