This essay is a continuation of an earlier work written for this class. I feel there is room to not only clarify ideas proposed, but expand and introduce
supplemental ones to further define previous claims. The aim is to propose that though evolution and innovation are incredibly beneficial and important
to the human race, through a series of questionable morals and vast amounts of wrongdoings have created a situation of over–innovation, or innovating

The future of the human race is terrifying to ponder about; not only does it raise many questions as to how the constant population growth will be
handled, but it also causes natural resources to become more limited by the day. As human beings progress towards the future they will undoubtedly

Throughout the last few hundred years, humans have built a foundation. Compared to all of the other animal species on Earth, humans are the most
intelligent. We have built houses everywhere, developed a system to sustain ourselves, and now inhabit almost every piece of land on earth. Humans
are smart, strong, and know how to fend for themselves. But, humans have a tendency to take it too far, and we have already done so. There have been
numerous advancements over the past few hundred years which could ultimately lead to the downfall of the human race. The main issue is
overpopulation due to the advancements in technology and general knowledge. The statistics from an article by Kenneth Smail show that "In the year
1900, there were almost 2 billion humans living on Earth. Throughout the 1960's, the baby boom, there were 3 billion humans on Earth. Today in
2016, there are just over 7 billion humans living on Earth." Currently, we have taken up just over half of all available land on this planet, and with

In the articles, "Human Family" by Maya Angelou and "Barack Obama's Speech on Race" by Barack Obama, common beliefs are displayed throughout
the two different articles. The texts both express common beliefs and themes about the differences and similarities about people that should be

This article written by Mark Nathan Cohen, who is an anthropology professor in the State University of New York; talks about how race does not
define human diversity. In the article, he also mentions that in school students learn the definition of race based on "biological variation" and not
based on their culture. The professor Cohen says that studies on human family tree that were based on their genetic analysis of traits do not show any
relation of who those traits belong to. He gives an example by stating that even skin color is not a god indicator of who it relates to because the "traits
occur independently in several different branches of the human family."
For that reason, professor Cohen also states that race does not control behavior like people say it does. He explains that race does not correlate to genes
or skin color that control differences in "behavior of intelligence among human groups." He then talks about culture and the way it works. In the article,

The human race as a result of its dynamism, roots, ability to adapt, acute intelligence, amongst other characteristics possessed, is undoubtedly the
most unique of all earthly existence. One of it's amazing characteristics is the peculiarities common to a group of people occupying a particular
territorial area; races as they are popularly referred to as. Individuals belonging to each of these races are known to possess similar physical features
such as skin color, body proportions, hair structure amongst others. Members of the Caucasian ethnicity are known to possess light skin, straight or
wavy light or dark brown hair, gray, gray–green, hazel and wide open blue eyes, moderately developed chin, a narrow protruding nose, thin lips and
facial hair for men; Mongoloids possess a yellow or yellow–brown skin, dark straight hair, broad faces, narrow and slightly slanted brown eyes with a
fold of the upper eyelid in the inner corner of the eye (epicanthus), flat and rather broad nose, and sparse vegetation on the face and body while

The ecological footprint of the human race is only getting bigger and bigger as our population steadily increases. It is estimated that our population

The overpopulation of the human race is killing the earth due to the consumption of natural resources and not taking care of our planet. The human
race as of the twenty–first century is similar to a parasite. Humans consume everything we can and do not help those resources grow back. The human

from each other. The reason for this is due to the fact that Gorillas have many different variations in their species. Humans on the other hand are not so

Like it or not we are surrounded by culture. Everyone around us believes different, worships different, raises their kids different, and has a different

There are many viewpoints and opinions on topics such as global warming and the role the human race plays in damaging the environment. With that
being said, it seems as if often times there are many dead end questions about what causes these things and what some solutions may be. On the other
hand some people believe these issues do not actually exist. The fact of the matter is, these many issues are very real but there are many solutions if the
human race is willing to pursue them. Through reading the two texts it is clear that the two authors are on the same page on the effects the human race
has on the environment. Although over the course of history humans have not always had the same impact on the environment, This is the issue that
both authors seem to be very concerned with. The alarming rate at which these so called "negative" impacts the human race is enforcing on the
environment is increasing seemed to be a focal point in both passages. Carson used somewhat of a statistical approach in parts of her reading to
emphasize the impact that man made chemicals are having on the environment. In talking about the number of chemicals created by humans each year
Carson says "almost five hundred annually find their way into actual use in the United States alone." She adds "since the 1940's over 200 basic
chemicals have been created for use in killing insects, weeds, rodents and other organisms." (Carson, 1962, ch.2). In doing this she is trying to grab the

Throughout generations, the idea of civilization has been a controversial subject in a sense that no perfect definition can be given. According to the
Merriam–Webster dictionary, civilization is "the condition that exists when people have developed effective ways of organizing a society and care
about art, science, etc". Although civilization has a positive cognition, Sigmund Freud, a neurologist and initiator of the concept of psychoanalysis,
acquainted civilization as being something inadequate. Thus, civilization enables the human race to feel genuine happiness by outlawing actions that
come instinctively by our individual psyche.
Freud argues that the human race was born inherently savage, meaning that each individual has inborn instincts that make them barbaric. In his book,
Civilization and Its Discontents, he states, "The element of truth behind all this... is that men are not gentle creatures who want to be loved... they are,
on the contrary, creatures among whose instinctual endowments is to be reckoned a powerful share of aggressiveness" (Freud 68). Through this quote,
Freud contests that humanity is not kind–hearted and good. Rather, they are naturally aggressive and evil, and the desire to be repulsive overpowers

The human race has relied on finite resources as a source of energy since their beginning as a race on the Earth. While humans have used resources
such as food in order to provide their bodies with the essential energy they need in order to survive, these sources are relatively much less finite than
