Breitbart News Analysis
Steve Bannon
Previous Editor of Breitbart News (alt–right). Contains Racist, misogynist and Islamophobic, and
homophobic rhetoric
People, especially those affected mentioned above, are not happy with this appointment feeling the
President does not care about them.

Essentially got the President to demote the highest ranking military officer and the highest ranking
intelligence officer so he could have a permanent seat on the council
This is problematic because he really should not be there. Positions , especially those of the National

Strong believer of marriage being between one man and one women – not exactly the biggest

Didn't exactly take a strong stance against Donald Trump when he talked about groping women.
Surprising because their was quite a few Republicans who immediately stepped forward to say the
comments that Trump made were not acceptable.
Not supportive of women's reproductive rights
Even when the Muslim Ban is pretty much unconstitutional he still supports it
He also seemed to suggest that more countries could be added to the list to block Muslims from

The Effects Of The Watergate Scandal
Many people, myself included look up to individuals in an authoritative role such as; senators,
governors, and presidents. We view them as being honest and sincere. They have to be right? They
do want to run the country after all. Often our thoughts are "they would never lie to us or hide things
from us", but unfortunately that's not always the case. One of the biggest political scandals to hit the
United States of America was the Watergate scandal involving our very own President Richard
Nixon. This scandal caused a lot of American's to lose trust and hope in the presidency. The scandal
received its name from the Watergate apartment and office complex that was located in Washington
D.C., where a burglary took place on June 17, 1972 and five men were arrested. It then came to
surface that the men's intentions were to sabotage the opposite political party, when president Nixon
was notified of this he order the Central Intelligence Agency to call the FBI to stop with any further
investigation, that national security was at stake. President Nixon knew that it would come back to
the White House and didn't want to risk anything, even though he was never involved with the ...

There was no other evidence, however, until on July 16, 1973, Alexander Butterfield, a former
White House staff member, testified that there were secret recordings of presidential conversations.
The Committee and the special Watergate prosecutor, Archibald Cox, subpoenaed the tapes, but
Nixon refused to turn them over. In response, Nixon ordered his Attorney General Eliot Richardson
to fire Cox; Richardson refused and resigned as did his deputy, William Ruckelshaus. Cox was
eventually fired by the Solicitor General, Robert Bork. This was known as the "Saturday Night
Massacre" and provoked a huge outcry at Nixon's abuse of power. On December 8, 1973, Nixon
released seven of the nine tapes, and one of the seven had

The West Wing's On The Day Before
On the episode of The West Wing, "On the Day Before", it clearly notifies of how the president has
many hats, therefore the president observes many hats and many roles during his time. His
presidency wears many hats, which clearly has many responsibilities for a person to perform. But
the Constitution assigns two leadership roles to the President: chief executive and commander in
chief. But the president has also played the part as chief in many other different ways: chief
executive, chief of state, chief of a political party, chief legislator and chief diplomat. The West
Wing gives a very diplomatic explanation of how the system works for the president's roles. The
episode starts with the White House hosting a dinner for Nobel laureates but the staff kept getting
interrupted by many international crises, the president was getting ready for the dinner. While he
was getting all set, at the exact same moment the president vetoes a bill to repeal the estate tax. But
perhaps the Democratic Party appears to have the two– thirds majority to override the veto. At that
time he was chief legislator, which manages the agencies and departments of executive branch. It
also, appoints high– level officials and reads department ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Institutions In American Government
The institutions have very important roles in the American government. Each institution such as
Congress, Executive, Judiciary, and Bureaucracy have a wide range of responsibilities ultimately
depending on how they function to serve the country. Congress is a very crucial piece that ties in
with the U.S. government, it's considered the most important representative institution in American
government. The three main functions of Congress include representing Americans, lawmaking, and
impeachment. Representing the citizens of America, members of Congress work to serve their
constituents. With bicameral legislature that the Constitution has granted them consists of the House
of Representatives and the Senate. Throughout the nation, different ... Show more content on

Military power, the Cabinet, White House Staff, and the Executive Office of the President all
contribute to the function of this institution. One of the noteworthy duties the president is granted
from the Constitution is to serve as commander in chief when it comes to the armed forces, giving
the president control of the establishment of defense. Filling the role of commander in chief, the
president has the highest authority of the several international and domestic security agencies,
allowing him to direct the agencies actions as he sees fit. The Cabinet and the White House Staff
advise the president as to what action he should take regarding the issues that affect the United
States. Depending on the issues being discussed with the president, the Cabinet contains fifteen
departments that work to serve different aspects of America ranging from agriculture to veteran
affairs. Meanwhile the White House Staff, gives advice to the president on a wider range of things
regarding politics. Furthermore, the Executive Office of the President is a key factor in the
"institutional presidency." The EOP agencies execute management tasks for the president at his
discretion. Although there are several agencies in the EOP, they all vary in importance depending on
the president's desires. Even though the authority of the agencies vary, the Office of Management
and Budget stays the most powerful. The tasks the OMB handle intertwine with presidential
responsibilities such as: preparing national budget, designing the president's program and reporting
on agency activities. Every factor that undergoes the institutional presidency creates a properly

The Executive Office of the President's (EOP) Office of Administration is a very essential part of
the federal government that assists the President of the United States. The EOP Office of
Administration's mission is to provide administrative services to all entities of the Executive Office
of the President, including direct support services to the President of the United States. From
providing financial support to the White House to hiring and firing White House employees, the
EOP Office of Administration is immensely fundamental to the successful functioning of the White
House and all of the entities that relate to it.
The EOP Office of Administration is only one of the offices within the EOP. The EOP was created

The Watergate Scandal
The Watergate Scandal Richard Milhous Nixon was the thirty–seventh President of the United
States of America from 1969 until 1974. Nixon completed his first term as President in 1973 and
was re–elected for the position for the next four years. However, Nixon would have his time in the
White House cut short by the series of events that occurred in the twenty–six months that followed
the Watergate burglary. On June 17, 1972 five men, one White House employee and four Cubans,
broke into the Watergate Office Building in Washington, DC in an attempt to bug the Democratic
National Committee (DNC) office. The break in and the events that took place afterwards led to the

Soon after the conversation with Haldeman, Nixon found out that Hunt was the largest conspirator
in the Watergate Burglary and Colson had nothing to do with it. He decided to try and shift the
attention to the Cubans (White 149–155). Nixon saw advantages in this idea because it would take
the heat off of the CRP, and make it appear as if Cuban nationalists were scared of the Democrats.
During an August 29, 1972 press conference, his first in three months, President Nixon stated,
"Within our own staff, under my direction, the counsel to the president, Mr. Dean, has conducted a
complete investigation of all leads which might involve any present members of the White House
staff, no one in this administration, presently employed was involved in this bizarre
incident.......what really hurts is if you try to cover things like this up." (WHT 828) Dean was
surprised at this statement because it was the first time he heard of his inquiries publicly and also
not bit of it was true. Dean knew that Nixon knew of the involvement of Liddy, Hunt, and several
other White House employees. President Nixon all the while was becoming more upset at the
situation and was looking for answers from his staff. Haldeman held a senior meeting trying to find
something he could tell the president. Haldeman told Nixon that Liddy was responsible for the

Personal Narrative: The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office
The midnight sky is pitch black with only a slight gleam of light emanating from the moon. The
night is so silent that even a pin drop could be heard from miles away. No one is stirring and the
world has drifted off into a deep sleep. The night seems blissfully peaceful. But the silence is torn
by the sound of rustling leaves in the distance. Two dark shadows emerge from the forest and gaze
heavily at the sleeping house. The two figures slowly creep towards the house with devious thoughts
racing through their minds. They begin to tear open the window screen and quietly crawl into the
house. A flashlight pierces through the darkness and flutters through the rooms. The figures begin to
rummage through the house and fill their hands with wealth. ... Show more content on

I have helped with many cases to prepare them for trial. One specific case that comes to mind is
State versus Gillens and Mercer. These two men were indicted with conspiracy to commit murder,
murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. On
April 5th, Daniel Gillens and Hakeem Mercer planned and executed the murder of 26–year–old
Deonte Shackleford. Shackleford was killed right in front of his family at a store because of "street

Noncareer SES (NC–SES)
As discussed in Chapter 1, the SES includes most of the top managerial, supervisory, and policy

Problems also arise when Cabinet officers believe that political deals are being struck without their
knowledge and involvement. White House executives view these factors as requisite to advancing
the President's broader political agenda. However, career executives often know more than political
executives do as these matters are being discussed due to their network. Thus, it is unwise for
political executives not to confer with the career executive corps prior to redressing others in the
political hierarchy.
Dispute Resolution
The majority of White House–departmental controversies are resolved by the President's Chief of
Staff. Other disputes are collegially resolved by the respective office directors and Cabinet officers.
Reaching consensus on the issues involved and soothing ruffled feathers are the key to achieving
accommodation. However, on the most controversial matters, the President settles the dispute. In the

Cuban Missile Crisis Analysis
The Cuban Missile Crisis, also known as the Missile Scare, was a 2 week period in October of 1962
that was a result of increasing tensions amongst the United States and the Soviet Union. Tension
between the US and the USSR is not new and is known as the Cold War, often stated to be a period
between 1945 until the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. Intelligence gathered over the span of
couple months all seemed to lead to the common conclusion that the Soviet's are installing offensive
nuclear weapons that will be able to reach continental US in mainland Cuba. The "initial" spark
seemed to be the awfully failed attempt to invade Cuba, also known as the Bay of Pigs invasion
under the Kennedy administration, and the presence of American Jupiter Ballistic missiles in Turkey
and Italy. What is interesting about the Cuban Missile crisis is how the Kennedy administration
confronted the issue. The Joint Chiefs of Staff, the top military officials of the United States pushed
for a full on invasion, which could trigger a world wide nuclear war. Kennedy wanted to avoid a full
on confrontation, making him seem "intelligent but weak". In the film, Thirteen Days, based off the
memoir of Robert F. Kennedy, Thirteen Days, where Robert wrote about his point of view of the
Cuban Missile Crisis, revealed how complex and mentally demanding it was to resolve and
dissipate tensions with the Soviet Union without causing World War III. Photographic intelligence
taken by a spy plane going over mainland Cuba revealed about 40 intermediate range ballistic
missiles capable of reaching continental United States. There were 3 options; diplomatic talks and
international pressure, a blockade, or a full on invasion. The Joint Chiefs of Staff pushed for a full
on invasion, meanwhile the Kennedy's pushed for a less aggressive move. EXCOMM, the
Executive Committee of the National Security Council composing of the NSC and key advisors the
President hand picked, met in the White House during the crisis to discuss how to proceed on the
issue. The film revealed how much the Joint Chiefs of Staff disliked Kennedy's methods and how
much they wished to act on their own. Nuclear missile tests were conducted independent of the oval
office, seen

much consistently. We the general population are the shareholders of our country. This is the way
our country is kept running in the present state of affairs. FDR had forty–five full–time staff people.
President Clinton had five hundred and eleven. Who was more successful Clinton or FDR? When
you have people to backing and help you, it is less demanding and more powerful to complete the
current workload. Our media look to the president as the boss wellspring of open approach. This
thought makes the President responsible to the shareholders all the live long day.

The President of the United States is the head of the executive branch. The executive branch of the
government has the capability in making sure that the laws of the United States written by Congress

The judicial branch of our government is made up of the Supreme Court and other federal courts.

The Three Branches Research Paper
The Three Branches Research Paper To start off I will be talking about the Legislative Branch. And
the definition of the Legislative branch is: the part of the United States government that creates
laws. Whenever you read about congress people in the Senate or House debating a law, you 're
reading about the legislative branch: the branch of the government that writes, debates, and passes
laws. Making laws can be called legislating. First is how the Legislative branch uses the checks and
balances and checks the other houses. The Legislative Branch can check the executive branch by a
couple ways: Override the presidential vetoes with a two–thirds vote, may remove president through
impeachment, and the senate approving treaties. The legislative branch can check the judicial branch
by: removing judges through impeachment, creating lower courts, and the senate approving the
appointments of judges. Next is the Speaker of the House and its role; his institutional role of
presiding officer and administrative head of the House, the role of leader of the majority party in the
House, and the representative role of an elected member of the House. The Speaker of the House is
second in line to succeed the President, after the Vice President. The Senate President Pro Tempore's
job is; is similar to the Speaker of the House but more limited. For example of the Pro Tempore's job
is to act as in the President of the Senate or Vice President when he/she is absent. Next is the

Our ever–expanding Federal Government employs agencies to not only serve and assist every

personally, paid the salaries of one messenger and a secretary. Later, progression in time would

Analysis Of George W. Bush 's Leadership Style Essay
I. Deliberation v. Decisiveness: Comparing Management Styles
The course of a presidency is shaped by decisions made before inauguration day. The choices a
president–elect makes when staffing their White House determines how they will use the precious
time they will spend in the Oval Office. The management style of a president is a function of the
president's personality with consequences for the future of the country. George W. Bush and Barack
Obama are different men who constructed for themselves distinctly different White Houses, each
with their own priorities, strengths, and weaknesses.
George W. Bush prided himself on his decisiveness. Bush's management style was structured around
a desire to preserve the time of the president and produce swift action. Bush's management style was
a product of his past experiences as a former governor of Texas and business executive and his
business school education. His life experiences had taught him to delegate and trust the abilities of
his immediate subordinates. (Allen & Broder, 2004) Joe Allbaugh, a top aide and 2000 campaign
director, described Bush as the "best one–minute manager" and a "fantastic delegator." (Public
Broadcasting Service, 2004) President Bush once described his own decision making style by
stating "I'm not a textbook player. I am a gut player." (Pfiffner 2011, 249) This preference was
reflected in the way his White House organized his access to information.

Eisenhower was enormously popular with the American people from the period of his service as
supreme allied commander in Europe in World War II to his death in 1969, but it was long held by
students of American politics that his performance as chief executive was largely a nonperformance.
It was widely assumed that the policies of the Eisenhower administration were made not by the

The Roles of The National Security Enterprise
The National Security Enterprise (NSE) is the overarching government apparatus responsible for
national security decision making. This is generally thought of as the National Security Council
(NSC) and the Department and Agencies they represent. However, Roger Z George and Harvey
Rishikof point out in The National Security Enterprise: Navigating the Labyrinth that national
security decision–making may rest with the President and the NSC but is significantly influenced by
the Modern Media (including the traditional Press), lobbyist, think tanks, and the US Congress. A
significant role for the NSE is ensuring that these different elements of government can exchange
information, share responsibilities, and collaborate to avert or at least minimize damage to U.S.
foreign and domestic interests.(George and Rishikof 2011)
The National Security Act of 1947 created the National Security Council. "The National Security
Council (NSC) is the principal White House institution that is responsible for coordinating national
security strategy, advising the president on national security issues, overseeing policy
implementation through the interagency process, and responding to national security crises."(George
and Rishikof 2011) The exact make–up of the National Security Council has fluctuated with the
changes in Presidential administrations. It has always consisted of the Vice President, the Secretaries
of Defense, and State, the two statutory advisors the Chairman of the Joint

The President can veto laws. He can also appoint judges and Supreme Court justices. He can request
special meetings of congress and recommend legislation. The 25th amendment says that if the
President were to die or is considered by himself or others to be unable to carry out his presidential
duties, then the Vice President would step up and become President, and if there is a vacancy in the
Vice President slot, then the President can nominate someone to assume that role and have it

Kutbettin Erbeyi GOVT October 12, 2014 A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE FUNCTION
AND POWER OF JUDICAL, LEGISLATIVE, AND EXECUTIVE BRANCHES IN FEDERAL
AND STATE GOVERNMENTS The American Constitution has served a critical role throughout
the history of the United States and has affected the powers of federal and state governments. The
Constitution laid out the separation of power in government between three branches and each role
that they should serve. Federalism divides power along national and state government with each
holding specific duties to working together effectively. Even though some hoped for a unitary
system, the U.S political system focused on giving limiting expressed power to national government

Firstly, the state and federal legislative branches have several areas where they differ although the
function is the same. The bicameral Texas legislature consists of 150 house and 31 senate members
under the constitution with residential, age, citizenry and serving–restriction¬¬–generally members
are Protestant and have a good education background. Members in the Texas legislature are not well
paid, unlike members of the federal legislative branch. Another difference between the Texas and
national legislature is that Texas only holds biennial and regular sessions in odd numbered years. In
addition, the governor reserve power of calling 30 day sessions taking place per year such as school
finance and social services funds.(GIBSON, 280). While there are small differences, state and
federal legislative branches share similar responsibilities. For example, the legislature works with a
vison of passing local, special, general and concurrent bills with joint resolution over the budget
process and other important policy decisions. In Texas, Legislators introduce a large number of
selected bills to debate with permission of the Senate seeking two–thirds majority to pass or veto.
The U.S legislative branch runs in a similar way with some exceptions, such as reserving greater
power and responsibility to Congress, which is made up of the Senate and House of

President Washington's Saturday Days
President Washington's Saturday schedule was jam packed per–the–norm, he never really got a day
off, like everything else if he wanted free time it had to be penciled in. His days usually ran from six
in the morning until midnight almost every day. Those were just the scheduled hours of work it
didn't account for the many calls he received at all hours of the early morning. He learned to survive
on little sleep and lots of caffeine. That Saturday he had several meetings with ambassadors, his
normal Saturday meeting with the Joint Chiefs, followed by lunch with his wife (she made it a
must), a telephonic meeting with the Prime Minister of Israel which would take up most of his
afternoon. Later in the afternoon he had his daily meeting with his Chief of Staff, Jake Watkins, then
dinner with the wife and kids(again another mandated meal set by the wife), then that evening he
had a meeting with the entire Cabinet from eight to eleven that night. They were long and grueling
days but it's what he wanted and knew all about it when he ran and was elected a couple of years

The Collapse Of The Soviet Union
The collapse of the Soviet Union ended one era of American Security Concerns, but it gave rise to
another more extensive era. This era would be marked by concern over the proliferation of weapons
of mass destruction throughout former Soviet countries and other unstable nations. Every president
from George H.W. Bush to Obama would mark this issue as a key threat to the nation's security. The
true question is what would each of these presidents do about the threat. Since World War II the
United States has filled the role of the "global police" opposing injustices and neutralizing threats
throughout the world, and the threat of devastatingly powerful weapons falling into unstable hands
could be treated no differently. With this in mind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

of America deems that the President is Head of State, responsible for execution as well as
enforcement of laws which are created by Congress. The president has the power to sign legislation

that a gun control bill passes. Firstly, Josh Lyman, the Deputy Chief of Staff, speaks with one of the
men who is a democrat, but is opposing the bill. The representative says that he barely won his past

The Watergate Scandal Essay
Watergate Political scandals are not strangers to the United
States. They date back as far as 1830, with the presidential sex scandal and Thomas Jefferson, and in
1875 with the
Whiskey Ring and President Ulysses S. Grant (Time and
Again 1). Today we have the Iran–Contra affair with Ronald
Reagan and Whitewater with Bill and Hillary Clinton. Even with these, it can be argued that
Watergate could possibly be the worst scandal in the history of the United States. Richard
Milihous Nixon was the 37th President of the United States, and the only President to ever resign
his office. He was born the second of five sons, in Yorba Linda, California. His parents were Francis

There was allegations of the diversion of funds from Whitewater through the Madison

President Clinton or his wife Hillary (Whitewater 1).
The whole Watergate scandal, brought about charges of political bribery, burglary, extortion,
wiretapping, conspiracy, obstruction of justice, destruction of evidence, tax fraud, and illegal use of
the CIA and the FBI, campaign contributions and taxpayers money for private matters. In all, more
than 30 administration officials and other people in the Nixon administration pleaded guilty or were
found guilty of illegal acts (Time and Again 2). The term "Watergate" came from the
Watergate Hotel in Washington D. C. In addition to a hotel, the Watergate complex houses many
business offices, one which was the headquarters for the Democratic National

(Farnsworth 1). In the early morning hours of June 17, 1972 a security guard at the Watergate Hotel

The role of the President as Chief Executive is a complex matter because it covers a wide area of
responsibility and involves many government agencies and offices, that the President is responsible
for overseeing. The history of Chief Executive starts in the constitution with Article II section I
"Executive Power shall be vested in the President of the United States of America" this did not
create the role although it was a front runner to it. Executive Power is understood to mean "seeing

a supportive role with a wider range of responsibilities and duties. In the beginning the main role of
the Vice President was to be ready to take the place of the President if needed. The sudden of the
death of Roosevelt, assassinations and illnesses were the drive behind the increased importance of
the office. Presidents were encouraged to prepare the vice President to take office. Each President

At this time, only one other impeachment inquiry existed, so Bernstein and Woodward's work had to
be as accurate as possible. They made sure of this through a few precautionary measures. First, they
agreed never to let an article go to print unless they both fully agreed the article was worthy of
printing should. When they were investigating the truth of a fact or statement, they always made
sure that they checked it with at least two sources. When they made a large implication, such as that
of H.R. Haldeman, Assistant to the President, they investigated with as many as four or five sources.
To make sure that they were not overly ambitious or biased, they frequently ran their story ideas,
topics, and facts, over with their editors, Sussman and Rosenfeld.
All The President's Men was fair and detailed, which adds significantly to their credibility, which
was the purpose they protected and looked out for. Woodward and Bernstein had a motivation
driving their investigation and reporting that was very unlike any that could be found today. They
seemed to be enticed by their love for writing and strife for the truth. Today, some journalists seem
to be motivated by fame, wealth, or politics. Many people would have written those articles simply

Legislative Branches Of The United States Essay
In the United States, we have a Constitution that divides our federal government into three branches
that carry out different jobs and consist of important leaders to help with laws and other aspects of
the country. There is the Legislative Branch, Executive Branch, and the Judicial Branch. Although
the three branches are all very different in what they can do and perform, they are all still equal. We
equalize these branches by a system we call Our System of Checks and Balances. Legislative
Branch is where the laws are made, and it consists of the Senate and House of Representatives. The
Executive Branch is where the laws are carried out. This branch includes the President, Vice–
President and the Cabinet. The Judicial Branch interprets and applies laws, and this branch consists
of the Supreme Court and all the other courts. The Legislative Branch checks over the Executive
Branch by overriding presidential vetoes and also by impeaching and convicting presidents in the
Executive branch. The Legislative Branch checks over the Judicial Branch of our government by
impeaching federal judges and Supreme Court justices. The Legislative branch also has the ability
of confirming or refusing judges or justices for elections for the Judicial Branch. There are many
roles in each branch of our government. The Speaker of the House is both the presiding officer of
the House of Representatives and the leader of the majority party. The speaker is also second in

The Three Articles Of The United States Constitution
The first three articles of the United States Constitution establish the three branches of the
government. The first article is the legislative branch, the second the legislative branch, and the third
is the judicial branch. Each is designed, so that no branch of government has too much power over
the other branch. The branches generally need approval from one other branch to proceed with an
item that is on their agenda. Without this balance one branch would have too much power in which
would lop side the government on one side. The Article I creates the Legislative Branch which
comprises the Congress of the United States. The legislative branch is separated into ten separate
sections and is also the longest of the articles and congress is also a bicameral legislature. This
article sets up the congress with an upper house and the lower house. The upper house is known as
the senate and comprises of 100 members. Each state is represented by two members from each
state for a total of 100 members. The leader of the senate is known as the President of the Senate but
who actually is the Vice President of the United States is but the only time he votes for legislation is

The White House Chief Of Staff

The White House Chief of Staff
The specific role of the White House Chief of Staff is as complex as it is elusive. The WHCS
oversees high–level White House staffing, who is allowed to speak with the President directly,
handles the President's schedule, is a confidant and advisor to the President, handles what
information the President receives, negotiates with multiple parties to push the political agenda of
the President, and is essentially the President's fixer (Cohen, D. B., Hult, K. M., & Walcott, C. E.,
2016).
This role is appointed by the POTUS and requires no confirmation by the Senate, and the
Constitution has no say on this role as it was not officially created until 1946 as the Assistant to the
President and receiving the current title in 1961 ("White House Chief of Staff Isn 't the Position You
Think It is," 2013). In 1939 Franklin D. Roosevelt and Congress approved the Executive Office of
the President, allowing the President to have staff that reported solely and directly to him. The
executive branch grew quickly, and in 1946 the Assistant to the President of the United States was
created and given responsibility over the White House and its staff ("EXECUTIVE BRANCH: THE
PRESIDENT," 2014)
The WHCS role is essentially that of an assistant, albeit the most powerful assistant in the world.
Since President Nixon, no President has been

The Raegan Administration as Having Altered the American Political Agenda To understand why
the Reagan presidency was so unique first one must understand transformation of the presidency.
The post–1932 modern presidency differs from the modern presidency in three ways unique ways.
The first reason is that the modern president have grown stronger, and thus expanded and developed
independence to create policy. The second reason is that the president's role in shaping the annual
legislative agenda and influencing congress has been institutionalised. The third reason is that in the
modern presidency, there has been a large expansion in official presidential staff. In 1937 President

Reagan was much liked because he offered a broad appeal, he shared the notions of people such as
Goldwater but Reagan would be much liked. One thing the American public hates is an out spoken
candidate, and that's what people such as Goldwater was, so Reagan was the ideal candidate.
Goldwater was the extreme right of the Republican Party, Goldwater often criticised the policies of
Dwight Eisenhower. He described his social policies as "dime – store New Deal" and strongly
opposed the president's decisions to use federal troops at little rock. Goldwater also believed that
Eisenhower was too soft on trade unions and complained about his failure o balance the budget.
Reagan had an attractive personality and also had a good style as a political performer, this made
Reagan a strong candidate, his notions and his ideology made him a candidate who might be able to

With the conflict of Syria the president order a air strike, this order did not have to be approved by
congress. This allow the president to be head of government and be united with is important in
dealing with matters abroad. When it comes to Foreign Affairs a unique approach was taken that
president had sole responsibility to Foreign Affairs due to the culture of having Kings and queen

Breitbart News Analysis

  • 1. Breitbart News Analysis Steve Bannon Previous Editor of Breitbart News (alt–right). Contains Racist, misogynist and Islamophobic, and homophobic rhetoric People, especially those affected mentioned above, are not happy with this appointment feeling the President does not care about them. Headlines of Breitbart in printed document Essentially got the President to demote the highest ranking military officer and the highest ranking intelligence officer so he could have a permanent seat on the council This is problematic because he really should not be there. Positions , especially those of the National Security Council belong to qualified people who have the knowledge and experience to keep Americans safe and have the ability to advise the president on matters of national ... Surprising because their was quite a few Republicans who immediately stepped forward to say the comments that Trump made were not acceptable. Not supportive of women's reproductive rights Even when the Muslim Ban is pretty much unconstitutional he still supports it He also seemed to suggest that more countries could be added to the list to block Muslims from coming to this country. He claims this is really good for America but not everyone agrees. • 2. The Effects Of The Watergate Scandal Many people, myself included look up to individuals in an authoritative role such as; senators, governors, and presidents. We view them as being honest and sincere. They have to be right? They do want to run the country after all. Often our thoughts are "they would never lie to us or hide things from us", but unfortunately that's not always the case. One of the biggest political scandals to hit the United States of America was the Watergate scandal involving our very own President Richard Nixon. This scandal caused a lot of American's to lose trust and hope in the presidency. The scandal received its name from the Watergate apartment and office complex that was located in Washington D.C., where a burglary took place on June 17, 1972 and five men were arrested. It then came to surface that the men's intentions were to sabotage the opposite political party, when president Nixon was notified of this he order the Central Intelligence Agency to call the FBI to stop with any further investigation, that national security was at stake. There was no other evidence, however, until on July 16, 1973, Alexander Butterfield, a former White House staff member, testified that there were secret recordings of presidential conversations. The Committee and the special Watergate prosecutor, Archibald Cox, subpoenaed the tapes, but Nixon refused to turn them over. In response, Nixon ordered his Attorney General Eliot Richardson to fire Cox; Richardson refused and resigned as did his deputy, William Ruckelshaus. Cox was eventually fired by the Solicitor General, Robert Bork. This was known as the "Saturday Night Massacre" and provoked a huge outcry at Nixon's abuse of power. The West Wing's On The Day Before On the episode of The West Wing, "On the Day Before", it clearly notifies of how the president has many hats, therefore the president observes many hats and many roles during his time. His presidency wears many hats, which clearly has many responsibilities for a person to perform. But the Constitution assigns two leadership roles to the President: chief executive and commander in chief. But the president has also played the part as chief in many other different ways: chief executive, chief of state, chief of a political party, chief legislator and chief diplomat. The West Wing gives a very diplomatic explanation of how the system works for the president's roles. The episode starts with the White House hosting a dinner for Nobel laureates but the staff kept getting interrupted by many international crises, the president was getting ready for the dinner. While he was getting all set, at the exact same moment the president vetoes a bill to repeal the estate tax. But perhaps the Democratic Party appears to have the two– thirds majority to override the veto. At that time he was chief legislator, which manages the agencies and departments of executive branch. Each institution such as Congress, Executive, Judiciary, and Bureaucracy have a wide range of responsibilities ultimately depending on how they function to serve the country. Congress is a very crucial piece that ties in with the U.S. government, it's considered the most important representative institution in American government. One of the noteworthy duties the president is granted from the Constitution is to serve as commander in chief when it comes to the armed forces, giving the president control of the establishment of defense. Filling the role of commander in chief, the president has the highest authority of the several international and domestic security agencies, allowing him to direct the agencies actions as he sees fit. The Cabinet and the White House Staff advise the president as to what action he should take regarding the issues that affect the United States. Depending on the issues being discussed with the president, the Cabinet contains fifteen departments that work to serve different aspects of America ranging from agriculture to veteran affairs. Meanwhile the White House Staff, gives advice to the president on a wider range of things regarding politics. Furthermore, the Executive Office of the President is a key factor in the "institutional presidency." The EOP agencies execute management tasks for the president at his discretion. Although there are several agencies in the EOP, they all vary in importance depending on the president's desires. Even though the authority of the agencies vary, the Office of Management and Budget stays the most powerful. Nixon saw advantages in this idea because it would take the heat off of the CRP, and make it appear as if Cuban nationalists were scared of the Democrats. During an August 29, 1972 press conference, his first in three months, President Nixon stated, "Within our own staff, under my direction, the counsel to the president, Mr. Dean, has conducted a complete investigation of all leads which might involve any present members of the White House staff, no one in this administration, presently employed was involved in this bizarre incident.......what really hurts is if you try to cover things like this up." • 10. Cuban Missile Crisis Analysis The Cuban Missile Crisis, also known as the Missile Scare, was a 2 week period in October of 1962 that was a result of increasing tensions amongst the United States and the Soviet Union. Tension between the US and the USSR is not new and is known as the Cold War, often stated to be a period between 1945 until the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. Intelligence gathered over the span of couple months all seemed to lead to the common conclusion that the Soviet's are installing offensive nuclear weapons that will be able to reach continental US in mainland Cuba. The "initial" spark seemed to be the awfully failed attempt to invade Cuba, also known as the Bay of Pigs invasion under the Kennedy administration, and the presence of American Jupiter Ballistic missiles in Turkey and Italy. What is interesting about the Cuban Missile crisis is how the Kennedy administration confronted the issue. The Joint Chiefs of Staff, the top military officials of the United States pushed for a full on invasion, which could trigger a world wide nuclear war. Kennedy wanted to avoid a full on confrontation, making him seem "intelligent but weak". In the film, Thirteen Days, based off the memoir of Robert F. Kennedy, Thirteen Days, where Robert wrote about his point of view of the Cuban Missile Crisis, revealed how complex and mentally demanding it was to resolve and dissipate tensions with the Soviet Union without causing World War III. Photographic intelligence taken by a spy plane going over mainland Cuba revealed about 40 intermediate range ballistic missiles capable of reaching continental United States. There were 3 options; diplomatic talks and international pressure, a blockade, or a full on invasion. The Joint Chiefs of Staff pushed for a full on invasion, meanwhile the Kennedy's pushed for a less aggressive move. EXCOMM, the Executive Committee of the National Security Council composing of the NSC and key advisors the President hand picked, met in the White House during the crisis to discuss how to proceed on the issue. The film revealed how much the Joint Chiefs of Staff disliked Kennedy's methods and how much they wished to act on their own. And the definition of the Legislative branch is: the part of the United States government that creates laws. Whenever you read about congress people in the Senate or House debating a law, you 're reading about the legislative branch: the branch of the government that writes, debates, and passes laws. Making laws can be called legislating. First is how the Legislative branch uses the checks and balances and checks the other houses. The Legislative Branch can check the executive branch by a couple ways: Override the presidential vetoes with a two–thirds vote, may remove president through impeachment, and the senate approving treaties. The legislative branch can check the judicial branch by: removing judges through impeachment, creating lower courts, and the senate approving the appointments of judges. • 17. Analysis Of George W. Bush 's Leadership Style Essay I. Deliberation v. Decisiveness: Comparing Management Styles The course of a presidency is shaped by decisions made before inauguration day. The choices a president–elect makes when staffing their White House determines how they will use the precious time they will spend in the Oval Office. The management style of a president is a function of the president's personality with consequences for the future of the country. George W. Bush and Barack Obama are different men who constructed for themselves distinctly different White Houses, each with their own priorities, strengths, and weaknesses. George W. Bush prided himself on his decisiveness. Bush's management style was structured around a desire to preserve the time of the president and produce swift action. Bush's management style was a product of his past experiences as a former governor of Texas and business executive and his business school education. His life experiences had taught him to delegate and trust the abilities of his immediate subordinates. (Allen & Broder, 2004) Joe Allbaugh, a top aide and 2000 campaign director, described Bush as the "best one–minute manager" and a "fantastic delegator." (Public Broadcasting Service, 2004) President Bush once described his own decision making style by stating "I'm not a textbook player. I am a gut player." I have also been taught that while African Americans have been considered full citizens for over 150 years, as Toby notes with the sampling system, there is still racism that lingers today. That being said, he is a founding member of the Republican House Freedom Caucus, and has a fierce commitment to the caucus's agenda. Congressman Labrador was elected in 2011 after a stint in the Idaho House of Representatives. He has two offices, the office in DC, and another in Meridian, Idaho. In the DC office there are 7 staff members. With one exception, all staff members have been graduated from college for less than 4 years. On another occasion the intern supervisor unplugged the other intern's computer, in the middle of a project, and giggled as she walked out. This kind of behavior is not profession for students to be in, nor is it an uplifting environment to excel in. In part, the office struggles because it's staff are so young. There is an energy that comes with youth, but in this case there is also an immaturity. The decision making process is emotional, and there is a lot of inconsistency with decisions. The decision maker is the chief of staff, and he has to ok everything before it is done. But there is no black of white answers, and he gives different answers arbitrarily. • 31. The Watergate Scandal Essay Watergate Political scandals are not strangers to the United States. They date back as far as 1830, with the presidential sex scandal and Thomas Jefferson, and in 1875 with the Whiskey Ring and President Ulysses S. Grant (Time and Again 1). Today we have the Iran–Contra affair with Ronald Reagan and Whitewater with Bill and Hillary Clinton. Even with these, it can be argued that Watergate could possibly be the worst scandal in the history of the United States. Richard Milihous Nixon was the 37th President of the United States, and the only President to ever resign his office. He was born the second of five sons, in Yorba Linda, California. To date no charges have been filed against President Clinton or his wife Hillary (Whitewater 1). The whole Watergate scandal, brought about charges of political bribery, burglary, extortion, wiretapping, conspiracy, obstruction of justice, destruction of evidence, tax fraud, and illegal use of the CIA and the FBI, campaign contributions and taxpayers money for private matters. In all, more than 30 administration officials and other people in the Nixon administration pleaded guilty or were found guilty of illegal acts (Time and Again 2). The term "Watergate" came from the Watergate Hotel in Washington D. C. In addition to a hotel, the Watergate complex houses many business offices, one which was the headquarters for the Democratic National Committee. It was here that the great scandal got its very start (Farnsworth 1). In the early morning hours of June 17, 1972 a security guard at the Watergate Hotel called police about a robbery. Later, five men were arrested with evidence that linked them to the committee to re–elect the President (NARA,1). • 32. Essay on The President as Chief Executive The role of the President as Chief Executive is a complex matter because it covers a wide area of responsibility and involves many government agencies and offices, that the President is responsible for overseeing. The history of Chief Executive starts in the constitution with Article II section I "Executive Power shall be vested in the President of the United States of America" this did not create the role although it was a front runner to it. In the beginning the main role of the Vice President was to be ready to take the place of the President if needed. The sudden of the death of Roosevelt, assassinations and illnesses were the drive behind the increased importance of the office. At this time, only one other impeachment inquiry existed, so Bernstein and Woodward's work had to be as accurate as possible. They made sure of this through a few precautionary measures. First, they agreed never to let an article go to print unless they both fully agreed the article was worthy of printing should. When they were investigating the truth of a fact or statement, they always made sure that they checked it with at least two sources. When they made a large implication, such as that of H.R. Haldeman, Assistant to the President, they investigated with as many as four or five sources. To make sure that they were not overly ambitious or biased, they frequently ran their story ideas, topics, and facts, over with their editors, Sussman and Rosenfeld. All The President's Men was fair and detailed, which adds significantly to their credibility, which was the purpose they protected and looked out for. Woodward and Bernstein had a motivation driving their investigation and reporting that was very unlike any that could be found today. They seemed to be enticed by their love for writing and strife for the truth. Today, some journalists seem to be motivated by fame, wealth, or politics. • 35. Legislative Branches Of The United States Essay In the United States, we have a Constitution that divides our federal government into three branches that carry out different jobs and consist of important leaders to help with laws and other aspects of the country. There is the Legislative Branch, Executive Branch, and the Judicial Branch. Although the three branches are all very different in what they can do and perform, they are all still equal. We equalize these branches by a system we call Our System of Checks and Balances. Legislative Branch is where the laws are made, and it consists of the Senate and House of Representatives. The Executive Branch is where the laws are carried out. This branch includes the President, Vice– President and the Cabinet. The Judicial Branch interprets and applies laws, and this branch consists of the Supreme Court and all the other courts. The Legislative Branch checks over the Executive Branch by overriding presidential vetoes and also by impeaching and convicting presidents in the Executive branch. The Legislative Branch checks over the Judicial Branch of our government by impeaching federal judges and Supreme Court justices. The Legislative branch also has the ability of confirming or refusing judges or justices for elections for the Judicial Branch. There are many roles in each branch of our government. The Speaker of the House is both the presiding officer of the House of Representatives and the leader of the majority party. The speaker is also second in charge to the vice ... • 36. The Three Articles Of The United States Constitution The first three articles of the United States Constitution establish the three branches of the government. The first article is the legislative branch, the second the legislative branch, and the third is the judicial branch. Each is designed, so that no branch of government has too much power over the other branch. The branches generally need approval from one other branch to proceed with an item that is on their agenda. Without this balance one branch would have too much power in which would lop side the government on one side. The Article I creates the Legislative Branch which comprises the Congress of the United States. The legislative branch is separated into ten separate sections and is also the longest of the articles and congress is also a bicameral legislature. This article sets up the congress with an upper house and the lower house. The upper house is known as the senate and comprises of 100 members. • 37. The White House Chief Of Staff The White House Chief of Staff Submitted by Samantha Janway El Centro College Class 2305, Section 53402, Spring 2016 The White House Chief of Staff The specific role of the White House Chief of Staff is as complex as it is elusive. The WHCS oversees high–level White House staffing, who is allowed to speak with the President directly, handles the President's schedule, is a confidant and advisor to the President, handles what information the President receives, negotiates with multiple parties to push the political agenda of the President, and is essentially the President's fixer (Cohen, D. B., Hult, K. M., & Walcott, C. E., 2016). This role is appointed by the POTUS and requires no confirmation by the Senate, and the Constitution has no say on this role as it was not officially created until 1946 as the Assistant to the President and receiving the current title in 1961 ("White House Chief of Staff Isn 't the Position You Think It is," 2013). In 1939 Franklin D. Roosevelt and Congress approved the Executive Office of the President, allowing the President to have staff that reported solely and directly to him. The executive branch grew quickly, and in 1946 the Assistant to the President of the United States was created and given responsibility over the White House and its staff ("EXECUTIVE BRANCH: THE PRESIDENT," 2014) The WHCS role is essentially that of an assistant, albeit the most powerful assistant in the world.
