The Message In The Bottle Analysis
In the book The Message in the Bottle, by Walker Percy in order to really understand it one had to really look into it and analyze the text. In the first
chapter alone, "The Delta Factor" there are various key components the author wants to go in depth about. He states the main purpose of the book is,
"is not about language but about the creatures who use it and what happens when they do"(Percy 11). Language, to the author is one of the one key
subject he wants to look further into and how is it that us human use it, grasp it and manage to understand it. In this book, Percy starts out by bringing
out many questions throughout the beginning of this chapter, demonstrating that we have many unanswered questions about ourselves, about man. He

Women In Del Monte's Advertising
Women in the fifties lived in a world where they were considered weaker than men and not as smart as them. In Del Monte's ad in 1953 it features a
woman looking surprised even shocked that she can open the ketchup bottle. Below her is text that reads, "You mean a woman can open it?". Woman is
underlined to point out even further how surprising it is.
Women in 1953 started to grow more independent and the appeal of logos is provided in the ad from the fine text, "You mean awoman can open it?
Easily–without a knife blade, a bottle opener, or even a husband!" This could imply that women don't need men anymore and is a nod towards there
independence. Del Monte's message of the woman is clear and the get–up to do an ordinary task and "O" shaped

Beached Trash Research Paper
On a late summer day when I was in high school a few friends and I went to the beach to cool down. After a long days work, I was about to go for a
swim when something shiny caught my eye. At first I thought it was just a peace of beached trash. But as I picked it up to put it with our trash. Is
when I seen that it was a bottle with a peace of papper in it. As we where leaving I put the bottle in the back sit of my car. Later, on that day when I
was at home I opened the bottle and read it. As I was reading the letter my heart skiped a beat. It was written by a girl that leaved in town. She was
asking for God to send her her true love. In the letter the girl didn't put her name saying that whoever reads this letter is to find her then that will

Arnold G. Morgan's Gospel Messages
A message in a bottle is one of the many ways to get the gospel out and into the world. Arnold G. Morgan realized this 22 years ago when he saw a
glass bottle floating in the Benton River. Morgan has been sending gospel messages in a bottle for about 22 years. It all started when Morgan was a
junior in high school and became very ill. From the time he was in grade school he knew he wanted to be a minister but that all changed when he
became sick. Being sick for three years, led him to drop out of school and never be able to return. "With medical bills being so high, I could not afford
to go back to school so instead I took a job at the grocery store and started to pay off all the medical bills," Morgan says. Morgan was fishing on Benton

The Power Of Coca-Cola Company
Coca–Cola Company is the world's largest beverage company, refreshing consumers with than 500 sparkling and still brands. The company and its
bottling partners are dedicated and focused on five key areas. There are profit, people, portfolio, partners and planet. Coca–Cola has the scale but lacks
the agility to adapt. They reposition their brand; develop new products, having access to new, fast–growing markets and solution to challengers
impacting the business. Coca–Cola believes in "learn", doing more with less, moving at maximum speed and eliminating waste. This is the power of
Coca–Cola Company. History of Coca–Cola Company Coca–Cola history began in May 8 1886 when the curiosity of an Atlanta pharmacist, Dr. John

The three entrepreneurs purchased the bottling rights from Asa Candler for just $1. Benjamin Thomas, Joseph Whitehead and John Lupton developed
what became the Coca‑Cola worldwide bottling system. Among the biggest challenges for early bottlers, were imitations of the beverage by
competitors coupled with a lack of packaging consistency among the 1,000 bottling plants at the time. The bottlers agreed that a distinctive beverage
needed a standard and distinctive bottle, and in 1916, the bottlers approved the unique contour bottle. The new Coca‑Cola bottle was so distinctive it
could be recognized in the dark and it effectively set the brand apart from competition. The contoured Coca‑Cola bottle was trademarked in 1977.
Over the years, the Coca‑Cola bottle has been inspiration for artists across the global a sampling of which can be viewed at the World of
Coca‑Cola in Atlanta. Check out a preview of the latest art exhibit. The first marketing efforts in Coca‑Cola history were executed through
coupons promoting free samples of the beverage. Considered an innovative tactic back in 1887, couponing was followed by newspaper advertising and

Coca Cola As A Gender Oriented Branding Concept
The purpose of the following essay is to analyze the Coca Cola products packaging. Figure out the reason behind the different designs, colors and
materials, and whether these bottles are actually the result of a gender oriented branding concept. This research draws upon mostly primary sources
including product history, previous case studies and papers about Coca Cola marketing techniques, market research, advertisings, tasting experiments.
My overall approach was to find a link between the packaging of the three main Coca Cola products; Coca Cola Classic, Diet Coke and Coke Zero;
the message it's sending and the client it is targeted for. First I had to study the substance inside the packaging to discover that these products fall into

Compare and Contrast Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut,...
Writing short stories is common for most writers but the writer must give a powerful message in as few pages as they can. While comparing and
contrasting short stories "Harrison Bergeron" written by Kurt Vonnegut, and "A Saucer of Loneliness" written by Theodore Sturgeon, I found that both
stories were science fiction and they both offer scenarios to fascinating what if situations. In this case, both stories answer what if questions to situations
where the government controls, but they also relay hidden personal meaning.
First, the core plots of both stories is different but I found similarities between the two. Harrison Bergeron is a story that's based in the United States in
the year 2081, where the government creates total equality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After she was released, the government continued to follow and watch her closely, and the public and people she dated even bothered her about the
saucer's message. Eventually, she hid from the public, and one day she began tossing bottles with messages inside of them into the ocean every day
hoping someone would find them and understand her message. A man found them, and he understood the message. It took him two years to study
water currents and wind trails to find her, but when he found her, it was almost too late, as she was attempting to drown herself in the sea.
Second, as there are only a few characters in both short stories, they are very different characters but left imprints in my mind. First, in "Harrison
Bergeron" there is Harrison Bergeron who is 14 years old, a genius, a strong athlete, and wears the strongest handicaps of all the people such as
bifocals to damage his sight, three hundred pound weights hold him down, and the loudest ear radio. Second, there is Harrison's father, George
Bergeron who is also handicapped by the government for being smart and strong. Third, his mother, Hazel Bergeron who doesn't need any handicaps
because they classify her as an average American who lacks smarts, beauty, and brains. Then the TV announcer who has a speech impediment tried to
speak for a few moments on an interrupted new cast, but then passes the microphone to a ballerina to read, who people could tell was beautiful, and
strong because

Analysis Of Heinz Ketchup
A Heinz Ketchup advertisement shows sliced tomatoes stacked haphazardly to form the general shape of a bottle of ketchup. Towards the bottom of the
frame, there is a crisp text that reads, "No one grows ketchup like Heinz." Through the analyzation of this advertisement, it becomes apparent that the
advertisement is effective and interesting in many different aspects, including form, content and style.
The form of this advertisement reflects the artists intentions of making the product, Heinz ketchup, seem healthier. The lines throughout are very clean
and crisp which gives an air of freshness about the piece. The implied shape of the ketchup bottle through stacked tomato slices is an innovative way

R–E–S–P–E–C–T What Aretha is Doing for Flint
Patti LaBelle may be selling pies at Walmart, but the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin is putting food and water in the mouths of the people of Detroit.
Two years ago the water supply for the city of Flint was changed from Lake Huron to the Flint River to cut costs. The problem was that the Flint river
is highly contaminated. The people of Flint have been ingesting contaminated water that is high in lead content for two years. For children, this is
especially damaging as lead impacts the developing brain.
While activist filmmaker Michael Moore calls for a revolt, Aretha is donating rooms at a Holiday Inn in the Detroit suburb of Southfield. In addition to
the rooms, the Root reports that "food will be provided by the local ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Moore states, "You would have to send 200 bottles a day, per person, to cover what the average American (we are Americans in Flint) needs each day.
That's 102,000 citizens times 200 bottles of water–which equals 20.4 million 16 oz. bottles of water per day, every day, for the next year or two until
this problem is fixed." Instead of water, he calls for justice.
"There is not a terrorist organization on Earth that has yet to figure out how to poison 100,000 people every day for two years–and get away with it,"
Moore said. He says that the governor's office knew about the problem a long time ago, but they ignored it since the people were poor and black.

just like any other criminal. Moore went so far as to say that Snyder's actions were "worse than anything a terrorist group could

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Derek Jeter's Win From Within

Hidden Valley created limited edition bottles to help bring awareness to the problem and donate the proceeds to support Great Nation Eats. The

Commercial Advertisement : Coca Cola
Name: Meraba Dickson Course: Tutor: Date: Commercial Advertisement: Coca–Cola–Make It Happy Mood The mood depicted in the include
commercial positivity, happiness, and optimism. For any commercial success, these moods are necessary. Optimism is a fair game. It is clear that
every living thing in the universe deserves nothing other than the best, and human beings are not an exemption. From the mood shown it becomes
clear that living things should treat each other as neighbors, and this is where the virtue of unity emerges. Secondly, happiness can be viewed based
on the fact that at the end of the advert the insects and people are seen celebrating their success in accomplishing their set goal. The set goal at this
point is ensuring that the coke bottle is opened so that each one of them benefits in one way or another. The insects are, therefore, able to achieve this
through the virtue of cooperation that they incorporate. On the other hand, a mood of surprise can be depicted based on the fact that the coke bottle
that the insects take belongs to a man who was laying on the ground taking a nap. After the man wakes up, he is shocked that his coke bottle is
missing, and he is not able to comprehend what took place when he was asleep. It is, therefore, evident that I realized different moods in the
advertisement, and this is instrumental in ensuring that the commercial attains its intended purpose. Soundtrack The music used is calm and soothing,

Advertising Campaign For Advertising
Campaign Information
Bud Light launched an advertising ad on their product that caused bad public relationships through its customers and non–customers. On April 28,
2015 Bud Light released a new slogan to their product (Brown, 2016). The new slogan that Bud Light put on their product stated, "Take No Out of
Your Vocabulary Tonight". Bud Light released this slogan because they started a campaign #Upforwhatever in May 2012 (Brown,2016). The campaign
was advertised and geared towards the younger generation to try new things. The movement of this campaign was to encourage people to get out of
their personal bubble and try new adventure. This was geared towards the younger generation because that is who Anheuser–Busch wanted to target
because that generation can afford to spend $18 on a 24 pack of beer and would not break the bank for college students. Another reason that
Anheuser–Busch wanted to target that generation because they are all on social media and advertising is shifting that way. The #Upfowhatever
movement was to gain new business through new customers and corporations (Hughes, 2015). The campaign was already two years old and has
inspired millions of consumers to engage with that hashtag to get out and try new adventures (Hughes, 2015). The young generation was getting out
and taking adventures throughout the world. It ranges from people flying on a plane to the next destination, laying out in the sun on a cruise ship, or

WeChat had more than 500 million monthly active users among over one billion registered users, almost all of them in Asia.
WeChat quickly gains popularity due to its features and appearance. It allows users to easily connect with family and friends by providing text

other duplicate apps such as WhatsApp, WeChat has more features that allow users get to know more friends via "Drift Bottle," "Shake", and "Look

Below, we highlight nine of WeChat 's features that keep the user base strong.
1.Video Call. It allows users to make face–to–face video calls. The process is just like dialing your contact in your cell phone's contact book.
2.VoiceMessage. It can simplify your chat messages. If you are spending hours drafting a long text message, think about sending a WeChat voice

The Coke brand advertisement uses denotation and connotation to convey the message that a father, not a mother, deserves a bottle of Coke

The Marketing Of Coca Cola
Over the years Coca–Cola has produced thousands of advertisements, appealing to the different senses. Along with trying to maintain a broad enough
audience, to become the number one soda producer in the world. Starting with the vintage advertisment from 1886, when prohibition laws were being
to be passed. This advertisement was placed near drink fountains, and convenience stores where coca–cola was sold in bottles. The second
advertisement was published in May 2015, currently circulating inside of the Netherlands. Both of the advertisements attempt to appeal to everyone
and anyone, who are in search of personal happiness. Regardless of the century gap, Coca–cola claims to be the drink that produces happiness and
relief from the ecosocial problems experienced throughout everyday life. Inside of the vintage Coca–cola advertisement, is a section of imperialistic
columns. Containing the brand name in circa 1860 calligraphy, followed by additional imperialistic flare details. Centered in the advertisement is a
direct statement from the company "Is a delightful palatable" "Healthful" separated with a fleur de lis, followed by beverage, men, ladies all in extra
bold. Thus stressing that the drink is the best choice for both men and ladies. A key difference is the classifications of primary target audiences for men,
such as business, professional, students, wheelmen, and athletes. While for women, it is "ladies when thirsty weary despondent", a much broader
audience. The

What You Think Is A Successful Brand
" Identify what you think is a successful 'brand '. This may be a multi national corporation, a celebrity, a charity, a social movement, a subculture, or
any other well–known entity. How does this brand effectively use graphic design content (perhaps across a variety of media) to construct and maintain
their identity and ideology. You may choose to use historic examples in order to demonstrate how the brand may have adapted over the years. "
Personally I am pretty familiar with the graphic design concepts and marketing campaign design as well, but anyone, who 's got some understanding of
this area will assure you, that it all starts with the appearance. It is that simple, and it also applies to both your clients and lovers.

As for it, it has been a long–term strategy lasting for quite some time now. Coca–Cola uses its red colours since its launching.
Besides, its red colours along with the red background and white–colored font determine its whole strategy. This element is an important one for the
prosperity of such a huge company. What 's more, it is a highly significant moment, and an essential component; it is the whole identity of the company,
which has always depended on this colour.
Also, if you have ever thought of what a successful brand should be, Coca–Cola is probably the best example since its appearance is quite
straightforward and distinguishable.
For instance, all of its posts, bottle designs, advertisements, social activity and support, receive positive feedback. It seems that this company does not
sell so much of its products, but it does give something more instead – "Joy" and "Happiness" which can be easily translated into any other language.
Personally I always say to my friends and partners that the positive attitude is the most efficient way of communication. No one wants to be beside an
unpleasant person, a harmful product and... under dark stormy clouds anyhow, right? And by typing „harmful", I am not pointing out any dangerous
elements here – what I want to focus my attention on is

There are different aspects an image has compared to an icon for certain reasons. With an image, it has a form of being interpreted in various
perspectives and how you want to perceive it such as Christ's face, the double helix, DNA, and the heart mentioned in Martin Kemp's novel, Christ
to Coke. For instance, Christ is seen as an image of belief and heaven that people have truly embodied for countless years, which will be later
categorized as an icon. However, an icon visually interacts with the audience through a message with a straightforward perspective. For example,
Martin Kemp chooses the Mona Lisa, the swastika, and the coke bottle as examples of icons. Within these examples, he selects the few to show that

Coco Mademoiselle Ads
The Coco Mademoiselle ad by Chanel incorporates many explicit messages from the "First Order of Signification" which can be deconstructed to
reveal manipulative implicit meaning through the "Second Order of Signification". In the first explicit message the viewer sees that the signifier is that
the model is naked and is cover herself with male clothing. The signified meaning is that it is showing that the male presence is dominant as she is
covering herself with men's suspenders. This shows that even though this is an ad meant for women the male presence influences unrealistic standards
on how everyone sees beauty towards women. The next explicit image that can be seen in the ad is the item that they are trying to sell the bottle of

By being able to deconstruct these image based ads it has changed my reaction when I see them now, now I'm more wary of how I see them because
I see the model or models as a tool to get across a message. An example of this is when we had to deconstruct the Vogue ad what this did was show the
female model was submissive, an item to the male model and that the male is in control of the female model as he clinches her and is in control of a
yonic symbol the ball showing his dominance. It has made me see things that are usually innocent like a beautiful model and a renowned NBA star
into seeing how he owns her and she is completely oblivious to the fact that she is being controlled by a man and is okay with it. Another thing that this
course has impacted on future ads that I'll see is the colours in these ads. Now when I see all of these colours in these ads I would be wondering
what the ad really meant as the colours give all of the symbols more meaning. So this has showed me how much the simplest thing like colours can
have the biggest effect on the ad to make it have a completely different meaning then what we original saw it for. The last point is how I would caution
other people about how they get manipulated by what the ad is communicating to us. I would say that these ads are now

Basically, emoji faces are the words of the campaign, but the problem is people who aren't familiar with many emoji faces might be confused on

means. According to Belch (2012), "channel/presentation: which media will increase presentation? But the important point is how well they reach
the marketer's target audience." (p. 180) I say Social media is the most effective form of media for Pepsi to increase their presentation for their
campaign. The reason why is because the majority of this world uses social media to communicate with each other so by Pepsi using social media it
will encourage the consumer to check out their new campaign that they offer this summer. I would also say commercials are also another way for
Pepsi to increase their presentation of their current campaign. According to Belch (2012), "message/yielding: what type of message will create
favorable attitudes or feelings? Marketers generally try to create agreeable messages that lead to positive feelings toward the product or service." (p.
180) Since the message in this Pepsi campaign strictly utilizes different emoji's on their bottles and cans the consumer will buy the bottle or can with
the emoji expression that they use or feel like most. According to Belch (2012), "source/attention: Who will

The Use of Semiotics in Coco Cola's Advertising Essay
The term 'Semiotics' refers to the study of signs and symbols, the relationship between written or spoken signs and of the meanings that are created.
The essay will first of all try to give some definition a review of the main terminology used in the study of Semiotics and will then apply these to a
series of texts, relating to advertising for Coca Cola.
The basics of Semiotics were laid down by a Swiss linguist, Ferdinand De Saussure (1857–1913). "He used the word to describe a new science which
he saw as 'a science, which studies the life of signs at the heart of social life' [Saussure cited in Underwood] He considered that a sign had two
essential elements: the signifier and the signified. A signifier is any material thing that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Underwood Cultsock) Other terms relevant here are "Icon"–" signs whose signifiers bear a close resemblance to the thing referred to"(Underwood),
for example a road sign showing a man at work can be considered an 'iconic' sign and the term index –'an index is a sign whose signifier we have
learned to associate with a particular signified' (Underwood)
Coco Cola advertisement seemed a good choice of texts for analysis because of the nature of Coca Cola's approach to advertising. The famous logo
was created in 1885 and this together with the iconic shapes of the bottle and corporate colours have not really changed since then. The shape of the
bottle and logo colouring, instantly identifies it as Coco Cola. The advertisement analysed below is taken 'Vogue' Magazine (Issue November 2007)
and is for 'Diet Coke' which was a new venture for the company in 1982 and within two years 'Coke' had become the top low–calorie soft drink in the
world. Although "Coke" replaced the traditional name of "Coca Cola", the red is still used and silver replaces the white The traditional iconic and
immediately recognizable bottle shape has been kept. At the basic level of 'denotation' the bottle and the words 'Coke' and written text represent a
beverage and the bottle can be considered as an 'index' of drink. It can also be regarded as 'iconic' in that the shape if the bottle and distinctive logo are

Persuasive Essay On Anti Smoking
Did you know that 20% of adult's smoke cigarettes in the United States and every year more than 480,000 people die from tobacco use and exposure
to secondhand smoke, making it the leading cause of preventable death in this country? (CDC, 2017) How many of those people do you think have
children? Second–hand smoke is just as dangerous as lighting up according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. It causes numerous health
problems in infants and children, including more frequent and severe asthma attacks, respiratory infections, ear infections, and sudden infant death
syndrome. (CDC, 2017) Anti–smoking advertisements began in 1998 as part of a 206–billion–dollar settlement. Major tobacco companies, including
Philip Morris USA, R. J. Reynolds, Brown & Williamson, and Lorillard, were to pay for anti–smoking ads due to a lawsuit from 46 states. The states
filed a lawsuit against the major tobacco companies for Medicaid and costs incurred while treating the sick and dying cigarette smokers. (Public Health
Law Center, 2015) In 2012, the federal government took on an effort to attack the nation's tobacco addiction with a series of advertisements
highlighting the grisly toll of smoking. (Harris, 2017) You have probably noticed one of these ads. In one TV ad, a woman who has a hole in her
neck and barely any hair on her head after suffering head and neck cancer. (Harris, 2017)
Even today, there are many powerful advertisements focused towards a shrinking market of smokers. They often depict the harmful effects of
tobacco through graphic pictures or other startling images. The advertisement I chose depicts a black background with a clear baby bottle full of
cigarette butts. There is smoke coming from the nipple of the baby bottle with the words, "How many cigarettes a day does your child smoke?" in all
white bold letters. Under the baby bottle are the words, "Prevent passive smoking" in a smaller font. Through this, the image is able to convey a sense
of danger and promote awareness of the hazards of smoking around children.
In advertising, the importance of tone is used to impact a specific group of people. Setting the right tone can convey your message to the intended
audience. In the advertisement I

at the North Pacifics. Fisheries needed more data and analysis to track down the salmons, and the best ways are by water salinity and temperature. By
compiling the data of how the salmons swim along the ocean currents, it was a job for OSCURS to predict the locations. OSCURS allow oceanography
calculations to be done with speed and high accuracy, which enable more advanced level of techniques of observing the ocean currents. OSCURS
wasn't only useful for the snarks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ebbesmeyer raises questions include understanding how do all sorts of drifters ended up separated by the same categories at different beaches. By
now, Ebbesmeyer has a good understanding about OSCURS and know that it will be the go–to program whenever a drifter related question comes up.
By recognizing that each drifter is varies by sizes, the wind that blows upon the drifter, the deflection angle of the drifter can contribute heavily to
where it possibly can end up or the amount of time it will require for the drifter to land. The hockey glove spill in 1994 is a great example of why
wind factors and deflection angle matters. OSCURS can only be so accurate when the programs runs on the controllable data such as weather,
direction of currents, and locations of spillage, but uncontrollable factors like wind and the drifter floating angles can create small differences in the
calculation that leads to errors as well. Because of the glove floatation with fingers floating upward, they travel 20 percent quicker than flotsams like
shoes or sneakers, as well as left or right sided gloves can drift separately on different currents, ending up on different locations. From this spillage,
OSCURS showed Ebbesmeyer an interesting result of how same drifter can still be vary and sort by the ocean currents even at the slightest matter such

Water Drinks : The Negative Effects Of Plastic Water Bottles
The next time you are out for a run, walk, or bike ride, count the number of plastic bottles you see on the ground. I have done this and it is mind
boggling. The environmental concerns caused by producing, distributing, and disposing of plastic water bottles is under scrutiny by various public
interest groups. The negative impact of plastic water bottles on our environment is real and requires action. The production of these bottles needs to
stop because they pose an ongoing threat to the health of the environment. One main reason plastic water bottles should not be produced is because
they create a health risk to the environment. Plastic bottles are made of a petroleum product known as PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) and these
bottles require large amounts of fossil fuel to make and transport them. Even though fossil fuel is a major energy source used in the world today,
overconsumption can lead to serious environmental issues such as air pollution. According to the journal article "Message in the Bottle," it is estimated
that the total energy needed to make, transport, and dispose of one plastic bottle of water is equivalent to filling the same bottle one–quarter full of oil.
This is a great deal of oil to produce just one nonreusable water bottle. It also takes three liters of water to produce a one–liter plastic bottle of water
("Message in a Bottle"). In addition to this, it can take plastic bottles up to five hundred years to decompose, and during the decomposition

The Advertisement For Campari Liquor
In the Advertisement for Campari liquor featuring Eva Mendes, there are numerous components and employed techniques that both enhance and
alter the way the audience perceives it. One of the first aspects of this image is the way light is strategically used. In the background of the scene,
we see light peaking through a somewhat ominous over cast sky. The lack of light in some areas of the sky gives sets the scene as mysterious and
malicious. The light peeking through the clouds however provides a sense of glory and power. Light is also used to highlight the models skin,
particularly on Mendes. This alongside with the light that is shining behind Mendes gives her a seductive and mystical appearance. Lastly, a small
sparkle of light can be seen on the top of the bottle of Campari. This draws attention to the bottle and also pairs it with Mendes giving it an alluring and
enchanting essence as well.
Alongside with light, color also plays a subtle, yet significant role in the audience's perception of the ad. The dress worn by Mendes is a creamy off–
white color. This color reflects light and combined with the highlights on her skin gives Mendes an imperious and elegant glow. The off white color
also portrays a sense of innocence however an innocence that is not entirely pure. Another prominent color in this ad is red. The red found on the bottle
of Campari is paired with the red ropes are used by Mendes to control her male companion. The color red, which is the most visible

The Absolut Advertising Campaign
Texts are political. Political in the sense that they produce messages that carry specific ideas and beliefs targeted toward a certain thinking body of
people. A familiar phrase in America is, "art imitates life." It defines life as essential to art, but can we say the reverse? Could life imitate art? The
semantics of the phrase seem too ambiguous for such a statement. What is the definition of art, of life? The phrase suggests that art reinforces cultural
and social beliefs by using the verb imitate. If art imitates life, then life imitates art. The verb is reflexive and positioned in the middle of the two words
it is reflecting. It is true then, the language speaks for itself, and this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The campaign has been in progress for about twenty years, and has been called the most successful ad campaign in American history. [2] The
standard image of the Absolut bottle is recognizable by many people, and has purposely been reproduced in every ad establishing it as a social symbol
in America. Each advertisement includes a culturally significant person, place, object, or idea along side the standard bottle. Absolut Vodka ads reveal
mixed messages about culture to their audience masked on the surface by a culturally significant artifact.
The most successful ad campaign in American history is characterized by an overwhelming number of individual ads that are separated into genres.
When looking at a series of ads, we have a better idea of the cultural significance attached to the images. The text exists in relation to others. The
image of the Absolut bottle has become a cultural icon, and the advertising aim is to make it recognizable as a distinct symbol of class to everyone
who sees it. In order to make sense of the ad, the reader must identify the vodka bottle within the text. This expectation relies on the network of ads
that have preceded it. Instant identification of the symbol makes the reader of an Absolut ad a member of an exclusive club. The Absolut Vodka ad
campaign aims to enroll everyone as a member of this club

Visual Analysis of a Tabasco Ad
Tabasco pepper sauce released a comedic ad. In the center of the ad, there is a large dark red glass bottle with a lighter red lid. The bottle is plain
and has no stickers on it. You can tell the bottle is made of glass because of the space and shadows on the top and bottom of the bottle. On the red
bottle there is a white glare in the front, and behind it, there is a shadow. Beside the bottle to the bottom left, the famous red, white, and green Tabasco

The Relationsual Analysis Of Roland Barthes's Theory Of...
What is advertising? Advertising is the act or practice of calling public attention to one's product, services, and needs. In American culture,
advertising has become a phenomenon to be reckoned with consumer behavior and trend analysis. Brands have to pick the main ideology that
pertains to the largest amount of targeted customers. Once the leading ideology is found, companies try to market along what people idolize or
admire, in order to create authentic content the public relates to and gravitates towards. In "The Rhetoric of the Image", Roland Barthes uses an
Italian advert called Panzani, as a working example to systematically dissect the image and extract the euphoric values it portrays in common
culture. Barthes believes that in a visual advertisement, the signification of the image is intentional, decided upon prior to its creation, and
transmitted as clearly as possible by the advertisers. As does Barthes, we are going to apply his theory and template in analyzing two specific
images from a modern and global ad campaign called "Reveal" by Calvin Klein. The two ads, one "A New Fragrance For Him" and the other "A
New Fragrance For Her", go hand in hand in a campaign for a new perfume called "Reveal" by Calvin Klein, targeting both men and women. The
seductive new fragrance advert features famous British actor Charlie Hunnam and supermodel Doutzen Kroes in a raunchy sexually charged embrace.

Cradle Vs PET Bottles
According journalist Eric Goldschein, the United States drank 9 billion gallons of water in 2008 (Business Insider). Therefore, in order to prevent
access waste and build up of plastic from the water bottles, many different varieties of reusable water bottles on the market today advertise the message
of an eco–friendly product. This message, however, can be easily adulterated and twisted in the manufacturer's favor for simply business purposes, thus
promoting bottles that have only the perk of being used many times before they are eventually discarded, ultimately falsifying the term "reusable".
When compared to the message of perpetual reusability, as well as the "five steps to eco–effectiveness," put forth in the book Cradle to Cradle... Show

Although reusable plastics are more resistant to the factors that cause this limitation, it does not mean plastic products fall prey to off gassing. Factors
such as sun exposure, microwave radiation, and the heat from being washed in a dishwasher all help contribute to plastic off gassing. Some BPA–free
reusable bottles have even been found to contain and release estrogen–like synthetics that are even more harmful than the ever feared BPA. Reusable
bottles also have a mechanical flaw: structure. Despite their impact resistant guarantee, if they hit a surface hard enough they can, and will crack.
Obviously if the bottle gains a major structural flaw such as a crack it is going to be thrown away by the owner and find itself in a landfill amongst its
PET cousins, free to leak its chemicals into the surrounding environment.
Bottle manufacturers should stop using plastic in general. Plastic bottles, especially PET plastic bottles, have a nasty tendency to off gas, thus releasing
dangerous chemicals into the users drink. These chemicals rage from antimony to phthalates, as well as other endocrine disrupters and synthetic
estrogens. This leaching of harmful chemicals is the cause of the plastic bottles popularity decline. Nonetheless, there are many other styles of drink
bottle to choose from, ranging from glass to stainless

As he was driving through Waiale, past 6th Avenue, he saw a scuffle at the side of the road. Because of his intoxication and the darkness he couldn't

specifically, bottled water. Despite a quick and easy outlet to water from taps within homes, Americans purchased over 9 billion gallons of water in

The use of bottled water is justified by its quick and efficient access; likewise, disposing of plastic bottles is just as simple. Although, plastic bottles are
not always disposed of as they should be. When a water bottle is thrown away in a regular trash can, it means the bottles are going to end up in
landfills. Sarah Barnes, in her article, "The Effects of Not Recycling Water Bottles", states that conventional plastic doesn't biodegrade, so the bottles
sit in landfills indefinitely. Consequently, all of the plastic bottles disposed of improperly will permanently have an effect on the environment while
lying in landfills. Barnes states that, "Landfill waste contributes to the production of methane, and too much methane in the atmosphere leads to the
greenhouse effect, which is linked to global warming." In addition to this, when a plastic bottle is not recycled, water bottle companies are forced to
produce more plastic in masses. The article "Bottled Water Pros and Cons" shows that only one in every five water bottles are actually recycled. The
world does not see the necessity to recycle plastic bottles, and this vicious cycle is taking a toil on the

Exposing Our Children to Subliminal Messages
President Herbert Hoover once said that, "Children are our most valuable resource." Everybody knows the saying "The children are our future." If
everyone knows this saying than why are parents exposing our future to inappropriate and explicit content. This is because most people do not
realize the explicit content their children are being exposed to. The shows, movies, and even commercials children are watching effect not only their
actions and thought process but can also effect the future decisions and choices they make. From the day we are born to the day we die we have
seen many different movies and seen many different TV shows; while we are watching and hearing these through our own eyes and ears we do not
truly realize what our brains are consuming, because in reality we are viewing and hearing much more than we can naturally see. Subliminal messages
are prearranged thoughts or ideas placed into the subconscious mind. Subliminal messages involve reacting to stimuli that are above your physiological
threshold but below your perceptual thresholds. So basically your brain processes the messages without you knowing. The two main types of
subliminal messaging are auditory and visual. In these two categories there are also subcategories. According to Anthony Pratkanis and Anthony
Greenwald, who are Psychology professors, have defined these four different subcategories as: Subthreshold stimuli which are presented at energy
levels too weak to be detected by the audience.

The Message In The Bottle Analysis

  • 1. The Message In The Bottle Analysis In the book The Message in the Bottle, by Walker Percy in order to really understand it one had to really look into it and analyze the text. In the first chapter alone, "The Delta Factor" there are various key components the author wants to go in depth about. He states the main purpose of the book is, "is not about language but about the creatures who use it and what happens when they do"(Percy 11). Language, to the author is one of the one key subject he wants to look further into and how is it that us human use it, grasp it and manage to understand it. In this book, Percy starts out by bringing out many questions throughout the beginning of this chapter, demonstrating that we have many unanswered questions about ourselves, about man. He then ... We cannot just look past it, it should not be something that should be looked into to be better understand. When looking in depth at language we should compare to other species for the fact that this is what makes us different. Language is an important and phenomenal thing that we should take into account and learn to better understand. That the Delta Factor can hopefully help as a guide to uncover the mystery of ... • 2. Women In Del Monte's Advertising Women in the fifties lived in a world where they were considered weaker than men and not as smart as them. In Del Monte's ad in 1953 it features a woman looking surprised even shocked that she can open the ketchup bottle. Below her is text that reads, "You mean a woman can open it?". Woman is underlined to point out even further how surprising it is. Women in 1953 started to grow more independent and the appeal of logos is provided in the ad from the fine text, "You mean awoman can open it? Easily–without a knife blade, a bottle opener, or even a husband!" This could imply that women don't need men anymore and is a nod towards there independence. • 3. Beached Trash Research Paper On a late summer day when I was in high school a few friends and I went to the beach to cool down. After a long days work, I was about to go for a swim when something shiny caught my eye. At first I thought it was just a peace of beached trash. But as I picked it up to put it with our trash. Is when I seen that it was a bottle with a peace of papper in it. As we where leaving I put the bottle in the back sit of my car. Later, on that day when I was at home I opened the bottle and read it. As I was reading the letter my heart skiped a beat. It was written by a girl that leaved in town. She was asking for God to send her her true love. In the letter the girl didn't put her name saying that whoever reads this letter is to find her then that will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Arnold G. Morgan's Gospel Messages A message in a bottle is one of the many ways to get the gospel out and into the world. Arnold G. Morgan realized this 22 years ago when he saw a glass bottle floating in the Benton River. Morgan has been sending gospel messages in a bottle for about 22 years. It all started when Morgan was a junior in high school and became very ill. From the time he was in grade school he knew he wanted to be a minister but that all changed when he became sick. Being sick for three years, led him to drop out of school and never be able to return. "With medical bills being so high, I could not afford to go back to school so instead I took a job at the grocery store and started to pay off all the medical bills," Morgan says. • 5. The Power Of Coca-Cola Company Coca–Cola Company is the world's largest beverage company, refreshing consumers with than 500 sparkling and still brands. The company and its bottling partners are dedicated and focused on five key areas. There are profit, people, portfolio, partners and planet. Coca–Cola has the scale but lacks the agility to adapt. They reposition their brand; develop new products, having access to new, fast–growing markets and solution to challengers impacting the business. Coca–Cola believes in "learn", doing more with less, moving at maximum speed and eliminating waste. This is the power of Coca–Cola Company. History of Coca–Cola Company Coca–Cola history began in May 8 1886 when the curiosity of an Atlanta pharmacist, Dr. John S. Pemberton,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The three entrepreneurs purchased the bottling rights from Asa Candler for just $1. Benjamin Thomas, Joseph Whitehead and John Lupton developed what became the Coca‑Cola worldwide bottling system. Among the biggest challenges for early bottlers, were imitations of the beverage by competitors coupled with a lack of packaging consistency among the 1,000 bottling plants at the time. The bottlers agreed that a distinctive beverage needed a standard and distinctive bottle, and in 1916, the bottlers approved the unique contour bottle. The new Coca‑Cola bottle was so distinctive it could be recognized in the dark and it effectively set the brand apart from competition. The contoured Coca‑Cola bottle was trademarked in 1977. Over the years, the Coca‑Cola bottle has been inspiration for artists across the global a sampling of which can be viewed at the World of Coca‑Cola in Atlanta. Check out a preview of the latest art exhibit. The first marketing efforts in Coca‑Cola history were executed through coupons promoting free samples of the beverage. • 6. Coca Cola As A Gender Oriented Branding Concept The purpose of the following essay is to analyze the Coca Cola products packaging. Figure out the reason behind the different designs, colors and materials, and whether these bottles are actually the result of a gender oriented branding concept. This research draws upon mostly primary sources including product history, previous case studies and papers about Coca Cola marketing techniques, market research, advertisings, tasting experiments. My overall approach was to find a link between the packaging of the three main Coca Cola products; Coca Cola Classic, Diet Coke and Coke Zero; the message it's sending and the client it is targeted for. • 8. Compare and Contrast Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut,... Writing short stories is common for most writers but the writer must give a powerful message in as few pages as they can. While comparing and contrasting short stories "Harrison Bergeron" written by Kurt Vonnegut, and "A Saucer of Loneliness" written by Theodore Sturgeon, I found that both stories were science fiction and they both offer scenarios to fascinating what if situations. In this case, both stories answer what if questions to situations where the government controls, but they also relay hidden personal meaning. First, the core plots of both stories is different but I found similarities between the two. Harrison Bergeron is a story that's based in the United States in the year 2081, where the government creates total equality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After she was released, the government continued to follow and watch her closely, and the public and people she dated even bothered her about the saucer's message. Eventually, she hid from the public, and one day she began tossing bottles with messages inside of them into the ocean every day hoping someone would find them and understand her message. A man found them, and he understood the message. It took him two years to study water currents and wind trails to find her, but when he found her, it was almost too late, as she was attempting to drown herself in the sea. Second, as there are only a few characters in both short stories, they are very different characters but left imprints in my mind. First, in "Harrison Bergeron" there is Harrison Bergeron who is 14 years old, a genius, a strong athlete, and wears the strongest handicaps of all the people such as bifocals to damage his sight, three hundred pound weights hold him down, and the loudest ear radio. Second, there is Harrison's father, George Bergeron who is also handicapped by the government for being smart and strong. Third, his mother, Hazel Bergeron who doesn't need any handicaps because they classify her as an average American who lacks smarts, beauty, and brains. Then the TV announcer who has a speech impediment tried to speak for a few moments on an interrupted new cast, but then passes the microphone to a ballerina to read, who people could tell was beautiful, and strong because ... Towards the bottom of the frame, there is a crisp text that reads, "No one grows ketchup like Heinz." Through the analyzation of this advertisement, it becomes apparent that the advertisement is effective and interesting in many different aspects, including form, content and style. The form of this advertisement reflects the artists intentions of making the product, Heinz ketchup, seem healthier. The lines throughout are very clean and crisp which gives an air of freshness about the piece. The implied shape of the ketchup bottle through stacked tomato slices is an innovative way for the artist to show that Heinz ketchup ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

R-E-C-T Research Paper R–E–S–P–E–C–T What Aretha is Doing for Flint Patti LaBelle may be selling pies at Walmart, but the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin is putting food and water in the mouths of the people of Detroit. Two years ago the water supply for the city of Flint was changed from Lake Huron to the Flint River to cut costs. The problem was that the Flint river is highly contaminated. The people of Flint have been ingesting contaminated water that is high in lead content for two years. For children, this is especially damaging as lead impacts the developing brain. While activist filmmaker Michael Moore calls for a revolt, Aretha is donating rooms at a Holiday Inn in the Detroit suburb of Southfield. In addition to the rooms, the Root reports that "food will be provided by the local ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hang in there," Michael Moore sends this message: join the revolt and demand governor Rick Snyder to be removed and arrested. Moore states, "You would have to send 200 bottles a day, per person, to cover what the average American (we are Americans in Flint) needs each day. That's 102,000 citizens times 200 bottles of water–which equals 20.4 million 16 oz. bottles of water per day, every day, for the next year or two until this problem is fixed." Instead of water, he calls for justice. "There is not a terrorist organization on Earth that has yet to figure out how to poison 100,000 people every day for two years–and get away with it," Moore said. He says that the governor's office knew about the problem a long time ago, but they ignored it since the people were poor and black. New documents support this claim. However, to someone that has come across the sport, the man on the advertisement will jolt their memory. The man in the advertisement looks very energetic and confident. There is a lot going on in this picture and it is shown on the man's body. The ad just like every other Gatorade ad had their tagline, "Win From Within." The tagline combined with the picture of Derek Jeter shows the audience that by consuming Gatorade, one can make sure that he or she is putting their body in the right condition to be successful. This campaign did not include demographics/audience identification. They only said that their demographic was the consumers. They needed to be more specific when stating who the consumers are. Hidden Valley also did not do any research or list any competitors that they may have or if it even concerns them or threatens their campaign. People were even posting recipes on Pinterest for ways to use the unlovable fruits and vegetables. Hidden Valley created limited edition bottles to help bring awareness to the problem and donate the proceeds to support Great Nation Eats. The bottles were sold only on eBay where people could bid in order to receive the bottle. I don't feel as if Hidden Valley really utilized or considered their customers when they came to the decision to only sell on eBay. I think they could have raised more money and awareness and even had more success with the campaign if they would have sold the limited edition bottles in stores rather than just on eBay. From the mood shown it becomes clear that living things should treat each other as neighbors, and this is where the virtue of unity emerges. Secondly, happiness can be viewed based on the fact that at the end of the advert the insects and people are seen celebrating their success in accomplishing their set goal. The set goal at this point is ensuring that the coke bottle is opened so that each one of them benefits in one way or another. The insects are, therefore, able to achieve this through the virtue of cooperation that they incorporate. On the other hand, a mood of surprise can be depicted based on the fact that the coke bottle that the insects take belongs to a man who was laying on the ground taking a nap. After the man wakes up, he is shocked that his coke bottle is missing, and he is not able to comprehend what took place when he was asleep. It is, therefore, evident that I realized different moods in the advertisement, and this is instrumental in ensuring that the commercial attains its intended purpose. On April 28, 2015 Bud Light released a new slogan to their product (Brown, 2016). The new slogan that Bud Light put on their product stated, "Take No Out of Your Vocabulary Tonight". Bud Light released this slogan because they started a campaign #Upforwhatever in May 2012 (Brown,2016). The campaign was advertised and geared towards the younger generation to try new things. The movement of this campaign was to encourage people to get out of their personal bubble and try new adventure. This was geared towards the younger generation because that is who Anheuser–Busch wanted to target because that generation can afford to spend $18 on a 24 pack of beer and would not break the bank for college students. Another reason that Anheuser–Busch wanted to target that generation because they are all on social media and advertising is shifting that way. The #Upfowhatever movement was to gain new business through new customers and corporations (Hughes, 2015). The campaign was already two years old and has inspired millions of consumers to engage with that hashtag to get out and try new adventures (Hughes, 2015). Coke Persuasive Speech The Coke brand advertisement uses denotation and connotation to convey the message that a father, not a mother, deserves a bottle of Coke because he is working hard to be successful, like the Coke brand itself. • 17. The Marketing Of Coca Cola Over the years Coca–Cola has produced thousands of advertisements, appealing to the different senses. Along with trying to maintain a broad enough audience, to become the number one soda producer in the world. Starting with the vintage advertisment from 1886, when prohibition laws were being to be passed. This advertisement was placed near drink fountains, and convenience stores where coca–cola was sold in bottles. The second advertisement was published in May 2015, currently circulating inside of the Netherlands. Both of the advertisements attempt to appeal to everyone and anyone, who are in search of personal happiness. Regardless of the century gap, Coca–cola claims to be the drink that produces happiness and relief from the ecosocial problems experienced throughout everyday life. Inside of the vintage Coca–cola advertisement, is a section of imperialistic columns. Containing the brand name in circa 1860 calligraphy, followed by additional imperialistic flare details. Centered in the advertisement is a direct statement from the company "Is a delightful palatable" "Healthful" separated with a fleur de lis, followed by beverage, men, ladies all in extra bold. Thus stressing that the drink is the best choice for both men and ladies. A key difference is the classifications of primary target audiences for men, such as business, professional, students, wheelmen, and athletes. While for women, it is "ladies when thirsty weary despondent", a much broader audience. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What 's more, it is a highly significant moment, and an essential component; it is the whole identity of the company, which has always depended on this colour. Also, if you have ever thought of what a successful brand should be, Coca–Cola is probably the best example since its appearance is quite straightforward and distinguishable. For instance, Christ is seen as an image of belief and heaven that people have truly embodied for countless years, which will be later categorized as an icon. Coco Mademoiselle Ads The Coco Mademoiselle ad by Chanel incorporates many explicit messages from the "First Order of Signification" which can be deconstructed to reveal manipulative implicit meaning through the "Second Order of Signification". In the first explicit message the viewer sees that the signifier is that the model is naked and is cover herself with male clothing. The signified meaning is that it is showing that the male presence is dominant as she is covering herself with men's suspenders. It has made me see things that are usually innocent like a beautiful model and a renowned NBA star into seeing how he owns her and she is completely oblivious to the fact that she is being controlled by a man and is okay with it. Another thing that this course has impacted on future ads that I'll see is the colours in these ads. Now when I see all of these colours in these ads I would be wondering what the ad really meant as the colours give all of the symbols more meaning. The Use of Semiotics in Coco Cola's Advertising Essay The term 'Semiotics' refers to the study of signs and symbols, the relationship between written or spoken signs and of the meanings that are created. The essay will first of all try to give some definition a review of the main terminology used in the study of Semiotics and will then apply these to a series of texts, relating to advertising for Coca Cola. The basics of Semiotics were laid down by a Swiss linguist, Ferdinand De Saussure (1857–1913). "He used the word to describe a new science which he saw as 'a science, which studies the life of signs at the heart of social life' [Saussure cited in Underwood] He considered that a sign had two essential elements: the signifier and the signified. Persuasive Essay On Anti Smoking Did you know that 20% of adult's smoke cigarettes in the United States and every year more than 480,000 people die from tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke, making it the leading cause of preventable death in this country? (CDC, 2017) How many of those people do you think have children? Second–hand smoke is just as dangerous as lighting up according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. It causes numerous health problems in infants and children, including more frequent and severe asthma attacks, respiratory infections, ear infections, and sudden infant death syndrome. (CDC, 2017) Anti–smoking advertisements began in 1998 as part of a 206–billion–dollar settlement. Major tobacco companies, including Philip Morris USA, R. J. Reynolds, Brown & Williamson, and Lorillard, were to pay for anti–smoking ads due to a lawsuit from 46 states. The states filed a lawsuit against the major tobacco companies for Medicaid and costs incurred while treating the sick and dying cigarette smokers. (Public Health Law Center, 2015) In 2012, the federal government took on an effort to attack the nation's tobacco addiction with a series of advertisements highlighting the grisly toll of smoking. (Harris, 2017) You have probably noticed one of these ads. In one TV ad, a woman who has a hole in her neck and barely any hair on her head after suffering head and neck cancer. (Harris, 2017) Even today, there are many powerful advertisements focused towards a shrinking market of smokers. They often depict the harmful effects of tobacco through graphic pictures or other startling images. The advertisement I chose depicts a black background with a clear baby bottle full of cigarette butts. There is smoke coming from the nipple of the baby bottle with the words, "How many cigarettes a day does your child smoke?" in all white bold letters. Under the baby bottle are the words, "Prevent passive smoking" in a smaller font. Through this, the image is able to convey a sense of danger and promote awareness of the hazards of smoking around children. I have done this and it is mind boggling. The environmental concerns caused by producing, distributing, and disposing of plastic water bottles is under scrutiny by various public interest groups. The negative impact of plastic water bottles on our environment is real and requires action. The production of these bottles needs to stop because they pose an ongoing threat to the health of the environment. One main reason plastic water bottles should not be produced is because they create a health risk to the environment. Plastic bottles are made of a petroleum product known as PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) and these bottles require large amounts of fossil fuel to make and transport them. Even though fossil fuel is a major energy source used in the world today, overconsumption can lead to serious environmental issues such as air pollution. According to the journal article "Message in the Bottle," it is estimated that the total energy needed to make, transport, and dispose of one plastic bottle of water is equivalent to filling the same bottle one–quarter full of oil. This is a great deal of oil to produce just one nonreusable water bottle. It also takes three liters of water to produce a one–liter plastic bottle of water ("Message in a Bottle"). • 30. The Relationsual Analysis Of Roland Barthes's Theory Of... What is advertising? Advertising is the act or practice of calling public attention to one's product, services, and needs. In American culture, advertising has become a phenomenon to be reckoned with consumer behavior and trend analysis. Brands have to pick the main ideology that pertains to the largest amount of targeted customers. Once the leading ideology is found, companies try to market along what people idolize or admire, in order to create authentic content the public relates to and gravitates towards. In "The Rhetoric of the Image", Roland Barthes uses an Italian advert called Panzani, as a working example to systematically dissect the image and extract the euphoric values it portrays in common culture. Barthes believes that in a visual advertisement, the signification of the image is intentional, decided upon prior to its creation, and transmitted as clearly as possible by the advertisers. As does Barthes, we are going to apply his theory and template in analyzing two specific images from a modern and global ad campaign called "Reveal" by Calvin Klein. • 34. Cradle Vs PET Bottles According journalist Eric Goldschein, the United States drank 9 billion gallons of water in 2008 (Business Insider). Therefore, in order to prevent access waste and build up of plastic from the water bottles, many different varieties of reusable water bottles on the market today advertise the message of an eco–friendly product. This message, however, can be easily adulterated and twisted in the manufacturer's favor for simply business purposes, thus promoting bottles that have only the perk of being used many times before they are eventually discarded, ultimately falsifying the term "reusable". When compared to the message of perpetual reusability, as well as the "five steps to eco–effectiveness," put forth in the book Cradle to Cradle... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although reusable plastics are more resistant to the factors that cause this limitation, it does not mean plastic products fall prey to off gassing. Factors such as sun exposure, microwave radiation, and the heat from being washed in a dishwasher all help contribute to plastic off gassing. Some BPA–free reusable bottles have even been found to contain and release estrogen–like synthetics that are even more harmful than the ever feared BPA. Reusable bottles also have a mechanical flaw: structure. Despite their impact resistant guarantee, if they hit a surface hard enough they can, and will crack. Obviously if the bottle gains a major structural flaw such as a crack it is going to be thrown away by the owner and find itself in a landfill amongst its PET cousins, free to leak its chemicals into the surrounding environment. Bottle manufacturers should stop using plastic in general. Plastic bottles, especially PET plastic bottles, have a nasty tendency to off gas, thus releasing dangerous chemicals into the users drink. These chemicals rage from antimony to phthalates, as well as other endocrine disrupters and synthetic estrogens. This leaching of harmful chemicals is the cause of the plastic bottles popularity decline. Nonetheless, there are many other styles of drink bottle to choose from, ranging from glass to stainless ... As he was driving through Waiale, past 6th Avenue, he saw a scuffle at the side of the road. Because of his intoxication and the darkness he couldn't identify the hair color or race of the victims or suspects. In a world where society has the opportunity to access almost anything in an instant, quick access does not end when it comes to food and beverages. Nowadays there is no waiting with options like fast food, take home meals, and more specifically, bottled water. Despite a quick and easy outlet to water from taps within homes, Americans purchased over 9 billion gallons of water in 2011. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The use of bottled water is justified by its quick and efficient access; likewise, disposing of plastic bottles is just as simple. Although, plastic bottles are not always disposed of as they should be. When a water bottle is thrown away in a regular trash can, it means the bottles are going to end up in landfills. Sarah Barnes, in her article, "The Effects of Not Recycling Water Bottles", states that conventional plastic doesn't biodegrade, so the bottles sit in landfills indefinitely. Consequently, all of the plastic bottles disposed of improperly will permanently have an effect on the environment while lying in landfills. Barnes states that, "Landfill waste contributes to the production of methane, and too much methane in the atmosphere leads to the greenhouse effect, which is linked to global warming." In addition to this, when a plastic bottle is not recycled, water bottle companies are forced to produce more plastic in masses. The article "Bottled Water Pros and Cons" shows that only one in every five water bottles are actually recycled. The world does not see the necessity to recycle plastic bottles, and this vicious cycle is taking a toil on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Exposing Our Children to Subliminal Messages President Herbert Hoover once said that, "Children are our most valuable resource." Everybody knows the saying "The children are our future." If everyone knows this saying than why are parents exposing our future to inappropriate and explicit content. This is because most people do not realize the explicit content their children are being exposed to. The shows, movies, and even commercials children are watching effect not only their actions and thought process but can also effect the future decisions and choices they make. From the day we are born to the day we die we have seen many different movies and seen many different TV shows; while we are watching and hearing these through our own eyes and ears we do not truly realize what our brains are consuming, because in reality we are viewing and hearing much more than we can naturally see. Subliminal messages are prearranged thoughts or ideas placed into the subconscious mind. Subliminal messages involve reacting to stimuli that are above your physiological threshold but below your perceptual thresholds. So basically your brain processes the messages without you knowing. The two main types of subliminal messaging are auditory and visual. In these two categories there are also subcategories. According to Anthony Pratkanis and Anthony Greenwald, who are Psychology professors, have defined these four different subcategories as: Subthreshold stimuli which are presented at energy levels too weak to be detected by the audience. ...
