4. Universal Vs Disney
Universal and Disney are both in the 6 ‘media giants’ that control
90% of what we read, watch and listen to.
Disney usually produce animated films aimed at a younger and
family audience, tangled was a the 50th animated Disney feature
based upon the story Rapunzel by the Brothers Grimm. It is also the
tenth official Disney princess movie. A large majority of Disney
movies are extremely successful, tangled being one of the most
but not as successful as The Lion King or Beauty and the Beast.
Universal create a wider variety of films varying from children’s
films like Shrek to horror films like The Purge and even comedies for
example Evan Almighty, they therefore aim at a larger variety of
audiences depending on the film.
Both institutions are extremely successful, I would say that Disney is
more successful in terms of animated and family films however
Universal could be considered more successful with older viewers
and in a wider variety of genres. Overall, I would say that both
institutions are equally successful.
