Police Brutality In All American Boys
Without fiction our imaginations will never be achieved, everything will be boring and too real. In
result, children will be forced to grow up faster than they should be. In this book however it may be
real in some situations in life, it is a fake story about a young black male who gets wrongfully
accused of stealing. He is then abused by a police officer who was on duty at the time and ends with
injuries that puts him in the hospital.Without having fiction we would have never thought of how
badly police can act upon and black male. This helps us see more situations on whether or not the
police or citizen was at fault. Fiction needs to be included in the curriculum because we can never
imagine situations that can often happen in real life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"Many years later, little had changed. A black man named Rodney King was involved in a high–
speed chase in Los Angeles. California, on March 3, 1991. Police pulled him from the car and beat
him. A bystander took video footage of the beating. The four police officers involved were indicted,
but they were acquitted in 1992." ( "Police Brutality and Race.")The quote from the article "police
brutality and race" shows a situation that happened in 1991 that is similar to the incident in the book.
A lot of times when incidents like police brutality the police officers often win because they are
"doing their jobs" when in reality they are often accusing many citizens. Often cases of police
brutality the civilian that is abused is male and black. This is because they are stereotyping thinking
they are up to no good when they can be innocent by standers. Racism and stereotyping in most
cases end badly. Police officers abuse their powers and hurt and or injure people because they
"assume" which often leads to a bad ending. "FBI statistics show that white officers killed black
suspects twice a week in the United States over a seven–year period. That's an average of 96 times a
year." (police officers abuse their power).studies show that WHITE police officers are the ones to
kill BLACK suspects due to "assumption". Their is a very high statistic that shows how many blacks
are killed in a

The Technology Revolution Of The 21st Century
Living in the 21st Century most of us, if not all, have been lucky enough to witness the technology
revolution that is occurring at an exponential rate. Phones are getting lighter, computers are getting
faster and the Internet has become more accessible than ever. One would think that having all this
technology and information around us; it should be quite easy launching a healthcare site for the use
of millions. That is where you would be wrong. The US Government landed themselves into a
similar predicament when they underestimated the complexity behind producing healthcare.gov, a
site created by the Obama Care administration in hopes to help millions of people obtain health
insurance. Healthcare.gov is a federal site that facilitates purchase of private health insurance for
consumers who reside in the states. The site was launched October 1st, 2013 and was instantly met
with many technical issues. So much so that even Obama himself expressed his frustration as 98%
of the first 20 million people who accessed the site had issues ranging of website outages and
technical malfunctions. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) was able to later
perform corrective actions and roll out health plans for millions of Americans across the United
States, but not before surpassing its budget by nearly 1.6 billion dollars. Needles to say the
execution around Healthcare.Gov was handled poorly and raised concerns regarding the
effectiveness of the CMS management. In this report

Revenance : The Theme Of Forgiveness Vs. Retribution
Forgiveness vs. Retribution "The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong."
This quote by Mahatma Gandhi describes the character it takes to forgive an individual of
wrongdoing. Forgiveness results in multiple positive outcomes for both the forgiver and the the
person being forgiven. Shakespeare's The Tempest, Keating's "I Forgave the Man Who Shot Me"
and Bettencourt's "Triumph of the Heart" discuss the importance of forgiveness in terms of moving
on, freeing someone of guilt and finding happiness. In order to move on from a terrible incident,
forgiveness is necessary for both sides. For example, in Keating's "I Forgave the Man Who Shot
Me" Debbie Baigrie was able to move on despite being shot in the face by Ian Manuel. "People
would say, 'stay away from him, what are you doing?'" says Baigrie (with Manuel). "But he's a
human being. He's smart. He has a lot to contribute. Why not give the guy a second chance?"
(Keating 71). Relating to the theme of forgiveness, Debbie was able to move on and forgive this
man for his wrongdoings. Without Ian apologizing and Debbie forgiving, neither one of them would
have been able to move on from this incident. That is why it is essential to forgive one for their
wrongdoings. Just like this, forgiveness is key in The Tempest. Prospero is able to forgive his
brother Antonio for his wrongdoings and plotting to kill the king, because of this, the two were able
to come to peace and move on without any violence, "... I

Martin Luther King Jr Influence
Martin Luther King Jr
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love
can do that."–Martin Luther King Jr. I believe that the quote means that from hate no more can come
and the only other thing to is love. Martin Luther King Jr. was an important and influential figure in
history that had a positive impact on the world because during his time there was discrimination
against blacks in the U.S, without Martin Luther King blacks might not have equal rights right now
and there would still be discrimination and racism every day against blacks.
Early life/Childhood Martin Luther King Jr was born on January 15,1929 in Atlanta Georgia. He

humble man and he loved and forgave everyone. We should all be a little bit more like Martin

The Issue Of Child Soldiers
The stakes are high, and the risks are obvious. We must remember that we are dealing with lives of
children, not hardened criminals. Child soldiers and previous ones have a lot on their shoulders and
by granting them amnesty we will be able to provide a better future for them. Many countries have
participated in committing the atrocious crime of using children to fight in wars as part of their
armies, some of them being Sierra Leone, Afghanistan, Uganda and many others. Many people
believe that previous child soldiers should be put through court to be convicted of the war crimes
that they committed, but this often leads to time in prison and hard feelings of violence towards the
government. There is nothing for these children in jail. They simply cannot thrive in that ghastly
environment and it should be a crime to stop them right in the middle of their development. We must
grant these children amnesty because what they did was only to survive and we can easily adjust
them to a new life by providing them with proper education.
We must realize that these people are first and foremost children, children who still have potential to
be good and to change from their violent past when given the education. Many children who have
fought in wars do not know what they are actually fighting for. They are not involved with politics
and sometimes are simply fighting because they know they will not survive any other way. All these
children know is survival, and that sometimes it comes at

The Presidential Election Of 2016
The Presidential Election of 2016 is not until November, but both parties are beginning to narrow
their fields down and begin their preparation for an election that is expected to be highly contested.
With previous election seasons, the current primary season has already seen some notable in–
fighting within the two major political parties, with potential candidates attacking each other in an
attempt to get their party nominated. What is very interesting is how fluctuating the support for a
candidate can be during the primary season. For example, Republican Donald Trump once had a
formable lead over the next contender Hillary Clinton. In the democratic field, the top three
candidates were Hillary Clinton , Bernie Sanders, and Martin O Malley. [1] From Washington to
Washington D.C the idea that Donald Trump could become president has alternately set off fits of
laughter and terror. Out of all of the republican candidates Donald Trump is easily most polarizing.
People either really love or really hate the businessman, who isn 't afraid to speak his mind.[2]
Trump has no experience in politics, but does have the experience as a businessman. Trump's stance
on the issues taking place is difficult to determine, not because he hasn't made an issue statement but
because he has made to many issue statements and has, in fact, been a member of both political
parties in previous years. The establishment argument goes something like this: first, Trump will
implode, owing to some

Lord of the Flies Socratic Seminar
Core Questions
Q: What did Piggy's death mean for the story?
A: Piggy's main role in Lord of the Flies was representation of intelligence , logic, and the voice of
reason. He was one of the first characters to appear in the book, and over the course of the story he
became a victim of hurtful jibes and eventually Jack and his tribe's savage behavior. Piggy's logical
and reasonable nature shows when he votes for Ralph to be chief and when he suggests that the
beast is not real. Piggy's death meant the destruction of reason in the boys' savage society. This is
heavily implied when he dies at the hands of Jack's tribe. Another thing of importance

Alex Trochut Analysis
Rudyard Kipling once said "Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind" and
boy I'm hooked. Throughout my entire life I have always been fascinated with typography even
before I knew what a font even truly was. For the past few years I have been following the works of
typographic designer Alex Trochut and his amazing work. His work can be seen on anything from
famous magazines such as "TIME" and "Vanity Fair" to globally recognized names such as Katy
Perry and Wiz Khalifa.
Barcelona based Trochut is renowned for his extremely intricate and detailed typographic design
work (inkbotdesign.com). For "TIME" magazine they commissioned him to create a cover that
depicts "the best of 2013" he creates this with a flowing pattern using six equally spaced lines which
he has curved and gives the implied sense of form and space. The final design is so creative and in
doing so is very eye catching and memorable. It is this type of flowing and intricate designs, which
have allowed Trochut to make his mark on the design world. ... Show more content on

has done is titled "Lorem Ipsum" in this series he created lettering based on tubular strokes and
made the connection to old fashion ballpoint pens like those many of us used in school long ago.
Many large companies and celebrity clients have come to love Trochut's body of work also. Client
"Capitol Records" commissioned him to create album artwork for the release of Katy Perry's single
"ROAR" in 2013. He went more geometric with this design and created an instantly recognizable
typeface, which beams with

Good Versus Evil In Ray Bradbury's 'Something Wicked This...
Emma Begley Wilson Pre–Ap Ela 09 October 2017 Something Wicked This Way Comes Have you
ever had a feeling someone or something is coming well in the novel Something Wicked This Way
Comes by Ray Bradbury this is what happens. In a little town called Green Town, Illinois two boys
get approached by a man holding a stick and the boys get persuaded about this stick. The man tells
them that it keeps lightening away and one boy falls for it while the one does not. As the story
progresses the theme Good versus Evil really becomes apparent to the reader. This is supported by
the title, the time, and the characters. The theme of this text is good versus evil. This novel has many
different components to support the theme. The title of the novel even supports this theme because it
is implying that something evil is coming and the good in the world is going to be attacked. As the
story develops the characters and the setting helps develop the theme. The "Freaks" and its carnival
really help you get the idea that evil is not really a feeling or action but more of a figure or form
because the carnival is all evil."He wanted to be near and not near them, he saw them close, he saw
them far. Suddenly they were awfully small in too large a room in too big a town and much too huge
a world. In this unlocked place they seemed at the mercy of anything that might break in from the
night"(34). This quote is talking about the freaks and how Will does not want to be near them. As we

Fahrenheit 451 Phoenix Analysis
Why are phoenix and a fireman the same
In fahrenheit 451 Ray Bradbury compares a phoenix and a fireman alike.
Animal and nature imagery the novel nature is presented as a force of innocence and the truth
beginning with clarisse's. Clarisse's convinces montag to taste the rain and the experience change
him irrevocably Montag escape from the city into the country is a revelation to him showing him the
enlightening power of unspoiled nature. The phoenix is a symbol for renewal for life follows death
in a cleaning fire. The hearth or fireplace is a traditional symbol of the home the salamander is one
the official symbols of the fireman. The phoenix is a lizard who is a mythic being able to live even
in the presence of a fire it's skin is cold and suggested that cold body can put out the flame the rising
phoenix out of the ashes live again. Fire is an interesting symbol in fahrenheit 451 because it
symbolizes two different meanings. The fireman who burn books and wear the number 451 on their
helments fire symolizes destruction (451 is the temperature at which paper and books burn.) when
fire is controlled symbolizes the flickering of self awareness and knowledge. After the city is
reduced to ashes by bombers in fahrenheit 451 granger compares mankind to phoenix that burns
itself up and then rises out of it's ashes over and over again both destroy themselves in fire and both
start up again amid the ashes. Ray Bradbury describes a phoenix as water and a fireman as fire the
hearth and the salamander mirrors symbol of self understanding of seeing oneself clearly that recalls
to montag's description of clarisse as a mirror in. Granger said ... Show more content on

Antigone And Creon Analysis
Antigone King Oedipus dies in exile, leaving the kingdom of Thebes to his two sons, Eteocles, and
Polynices, who are supposed to take turns as rulers. Instead, the two brothers fight over the prize;
civil war ensues and in the end both of them are dead , each by the other hand . Creon , surviving

Thebes, proclaiming a state funeral for his former ally Eteocles while ordering that the body of

are limited in their knowledge and cannot foresee all the consequences of their choices . Antigone

Introduction
Enzymes are proteins, in which it speeds up the chemical reaction. Enzymes can be seen as proteins
of adjustments of chemical reactions, and they are macromolecules. Enzymes are made from amino
acids. When an enzyme if established, it is produced by linking combined between 100 and 1,000
amino acids in a very particular and distinctive sequence (How stuff works, 2017). Their 3D
structure determines their function. Enzymes are essential to life because they accelerate metabolic
reactions to a very great expansion, but do not experience any change in themselves (WebFinance,
2017). Catalyst helps the reaction transpire rapidly or more regularly. Enzymes can make some
positive charged making the reaction easier to happen. The molecule that is going to bind with the
enzymes is called substrate. A substance that speeds up chemical reaction–without being a reactant
is called a catalyst (Khan Academy, 2017). They all bind together at the active site, where the
reaction happens. It is

The Legend Of Dante 's Aeneid
According to the legend, Rome was founded by two brothers, and also known as demi–gods,
Romulus and Remus. The legend claims that, they had a disagreement over who would rule the city
and where the city would be located. Romulus killed Remus and named the city after himself. This
story of the founding of Rome is the most known but it is not the only one. Other legends claimed
that the city was named after a woman, Roma, who traveled with Aeneas and the other fighters from
Troy after that city had fallen. Upon arrival on the banks of the Tiber River, Roma and the other
women opposed when the men wanted to move on. She ended up leading the women in the burning
of the Trojan ships and so efficiently deserted the Trojan survivors at the site that would eventually
become Rome. Aeneas of Troy is featured in this legend and also in Virgil 's Aeneid, as a founder of
Rome and the ancestor of Romulus and Remus, this then linking Rome with the greatness and
power which was once Troy. The Roman empire was a very complex civilization that had managed

Students Should Be Tested For Drug Use Essay
Makaiya Roy Mrs. King ELA 1st 07 April 2017 Teens Should be Tested for Drug Use Should
students be tested for drug use? Some people say no, that they shouldn't, but some others say
otherwise. Students should be required to take drug tests because many teenagers make bad choices
and do drugs, and some student athletes are taking performance–enhancing drugs. First of all, many
teenagers make bad choices and do drugs. To begin with, of the seniors surveyed last year, 16
percent had used cocaine at least once, 12 percent had used it during the previous year and 6 percent
were monthly users of the drug. Monthly use increased the most in the northeastern states, from 7
percent in 1983 to 11 percent in 1984.This states that some teenagers make bad choices and do
drugs, so they should be tested for them. Among 12th graders, the most commonly used drug was
alcohol with 76.2% reporting lifetime use, followed by tobacco cigarettes with 50.9%, and
marijuana with 43.6%. These statistics are reporting that many teenagers have taken drugs within
their lifetime, and drug tests would help with teen drug use so they could get help and get
unattached to drugs. The most commonly used drug among 9th graders was alcohol with 52.1%

Thesis Statement Of A Medical Doctor
Introduction & Career/Life Discussion A medical doctor is a person who practices medicine to save
people's lives by treating illness and injuries. There are many types of doctors, ranging from general
pediatricians to specialists. They may work at public health organizations, teaching facilities, private
practices, group practices, hospitals, and other settings. They are respected people and are looked to
when something is wrong. Everyone needs a doctor at some point, so doctors are very much in
demand. Thesis Statement They are four main weighed factors that go into your decision to become
a doctor. These four concepts are stress, perseverance, time, and family. Four Concepts Stress
Difficult patients–Not every patient is easy to work with, just like not every doctor is easy to work
with. One of the most important factors in a doctor–patient relationship is trust, and if the patient
refuses to trust the doctor, explaining procedures and recommending treatments can be nearly
impossible. Top doctors have the education, experience and certifications needed to make health and
treatment recommendations – but those recommendations are only as good as the cooperation of the
patient. Perseverance Quick (and life–changing) decisions–Sometimes something happens that
requires a fast decision, and many times doctors can be saturated ... Show more content on

Starwood Is A Hotel And Leisure Company
Starwood is a hotel and leisure company. The company has a significant presence in diverse
geographic markets, which helps it offset concentration risks. However, price war, fueled by intense
competition, could make Starwood 's luxurious brands uncompetitive resulting in low market
penetration opportunities for the company. We know that many decisions made are normative
decision making. The company has many strengths as Starwood has strong brand portfolio in the
luxury and upper upscale segments of the lodging industry (Fox, 2016). They have a global footprint
with a strong loyalty program and patron following (Fox, 2016). These strengths put Starwood in a
unique position to maintain their brands as well as their potential value to buyers and stock holders
has much potential. The potential for growth is abundant, but Starwood has some weaknesses that
need better management. Compared to their competition, Starwood has a high debt burden (SWOT
Analysis, 2016). Unlike their competition, they still rely heavily on a 3rd party reservations from the
internet company (SWOT Analysis, 2016). Due to their strengths in brand and loyalty, but
weaknesses that are primarily rooted in poor oversight and management, sets Starwood up for
expansion or merger with another firm. The decisions Starwood makes along a ten–year trek is
indicative of making themselves more attractive to a potential buyer. The Travel & Lodging segment
is expected to grow in the United States and abroad.

She resists any hardness, preferring the ephemeral freeness of her youth, and actively undermines
any walls and strength that have built up inside her. Her use of the phrase "turn the trick," is also
noteworthy, as that in an old idiom for prostitution. Blanche was a soft person who everyone knows.
She was having sexual moments with different men. She had sex with every guy in her hometown
and every guy in the military base. She was having so much sexual contact with so many guys that
the people kicked Blanche out of her hometown. She had to move in with her sister, Stella.
When Mitch, Stanley's friend, showed to stanley's house, he was crushing on Blanche. Blanche liked
mitch. Blache was telling Mitch the sad details of her marriage to Allan, her ex boyfriend. She loved
him truly, despite her disgust at his homosexuality, and something broke inside her when he died.

Green Light Symbolism In The Great Gatsby

The Decline Of The American Dream In The 1920's
The American dream can be defined in many ways as it varies from person to person. America is a
country were you achieve your American dream through freedom and opportunity. But in the 1920's
this was not the case. In F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby, the use of symbolism supports The
Decline of The American Dream in America 1920's. Symbolism can be defined as the use of
symbols to represent ideas or qualities. The green light is the main symbol we see throughout the
book to represent the decline of the American Dream in the 1920's. The green light is a permanently
lit electric lamp that marks the end of Daisy and Tom's boat dock. It's a way to warn boats at night or
during unpleasantly cold or wet weather that it is a structure there, that ... Show more content on

Now it stands for the unreachable dream that lives inside all people. For Nick, life is a constant
struggle between our past mistakes, experiences, and sense of reality, which pull us back and weigh
us down, and the green light of unrealistic hope that drives us to think we will do better and achieve
more the next day. Just as Americans have given America meaning through their dreams for their
own lives, Gatsby instills Daisy with a kind of idealized perfection that she neither deserves nor
possesses. Gatsby's dream is ruined by the unworthiness of its object, just as the American dream in
the 1920s is ruined by the unworthiness of its object–money and pleasure. Like 1920s Americans in
general, fruitlessly seeking a bygone era in which their dreams had value, Gatsby longs to recreate a
vanished past–his time in Louisville with Daisy–but is incapable of doing so. When his dream
crumbles, all that is left for Gatsby to do is die; all Nick can do is move back to Minnesota, where

Rapid prototyping as the name implies is a process of quickly transforming user 's understanding

3.2 Disadvantages of rapid prototyping If not controlled, it can see introduction of additional
requirement/features which was not part of the original model.
4.0 Best and worst Practices of prototyping
4.1 Best Practice
1) Work collaboratively with users, business and IT stakeholders while rapid prototyping.
2) Understand that rapid prototyping is a means to an end and not the end product itself. This would
help in avoiding prototype creep because expectations are set.
3). Make provision for component (templates, patterns, widgets) reuse.
4) When creating interactive high–fidelity prototypes and simulations, build in realistic delays so
that users do not expect instant response times from the final product.
5) Remind users during every prototype review session that the product is a mock up and not the
actual solution. It encourages feedback and avoiding users from mistaking it for a working solution.
4.2 Worst Practice
1) Don't prototype features or functionality that cannot be implemented
2) Don't take every change or request that comes out of a prototype review as a new

Examples Of Teenage Rebellion In Romeo And Juliet
Teen Rebellion
Teenage rebellion is common in "Romeo & Juliet" and "The Outsiders". Both stories have violence
and gangs. Most teens like violence and gangs in stories because there is action in the story. Both of
the gangs in both stories end up staring fights. In "Romeo & Juliet" and "The Outsiders", they have
gang groups. "Romeo & Juliet" have red gang and blue gang and "The Outsiders" has the Socs and

and it popular. Most teen rebel against adult or the law.

For example, in the same day you might be captaining your college sports team where you show a
lot of leadership behaviours, then working as an employee at your part–time job where you will

and is the part of you that contains your beliefs, values, attitudes and interests; these aspects are seen
as being relatively constant or stable. Typical responses are the usual ways that you respond to the
world around you or different situations you may find yourself in. For example, you may always get
angry and shout after being intentionally fouled in football because you feel that deliberate fouls are

LMI countries account for eighty percent of CVD–related deaths in the world, bearing the largest
part of the global CVD burden.
The rise of cardiovascular diseases in LMI countries follows the same pattern as in the developed
world in the latter part of the twentieth century. However, the CVD phenomenon has different
ramifications for low–and middle income (LMI) countries from the developed world. High–income
countries have been more successful in cardiovascular disease (CVD) control, where CVD
incidence and mortality rates are on the decline.
Developing countries do not have the necessary healthcare systems like the advanced nations.
Government hospitals do not provide the necessary care that CVD patients require and private
healthcare provid– ers leave many patients financially crippled. Not only are the governments of
these countries unable to provide sufficient financial resources for health spending, global agencies
committed to impro– ving the world's health fail to include cardiovascular illnesses in their social
investments portfolio.
To address this alarming trend, the U.N. convened a high–level meeting in 2011 to highlight the
severe consequences of CVD prevalence on public health in developing countries. It came to the
conclusion that poverty worsens the CVD epidemic in LMI countries and the disease in turn
weakens the individual's economic condi– tion. However, a lot of research is required to understand

Apa Guide
APA Format: What Does It Mean?
Almost every KGSM written assignment specifies that the paper conform to APA style. But no one
really knows what this means. At the very least, the requirement could be that references be cited as
described in the APA manual. But APA style involves a lot more. In this document, I will explain
and/or provide examples of what I, personally, consider to be important in my classes. Some
professors may require more or less. My best advice for what to do in other classes is to ask the
professor.
Two Required Elements
Every paper has to have an introduction and a conclusion. The introduction establishes why the
reader should read the paper. Notice that the introduction does not get a heading. The ... Show more

I am told Word also has a utility for managing references. I have never used it. You could also keep
track of everything manually.
Citations
Some students may be familiar with the use of footnotes to provide information about sources of
information. With APA format, footnotes are not used for this purpose. Instead, we use in–text
citations and a references page near the end of the paper. The rules of the formatting of citations and
references are somewhat arcane. Typically, professors will be okay with your formatting being
pretty close. I am. Some professors might be sticklers about this. You might want to ask before
beginning your writing assignment. Software such as Reference Point or EndNote will take care of
the formatting for you if you use such software. Otherwise you will want to pay close attention to
examples provided in the manual or other trusted sources.
Here are some example citations and references. In some cases, I have simplified, maybe over
simplified some of the rules. I will be happy if you use the basics. You might want to ask your
professor if you need to be more of a stickler. Here are citations for a book (Giorgi, 2009), a journal
article (J. B. Walther, 1995), a web site (American Psychological Association, 2010), an edited book

Why Do People Fear Death : The Fear Of Death
Fear Of Death Essay Why do people fear death? Death can be both a natural or a unnatural
occurence that a majority of people cannot mentally grasp the acceptance. Necrophobia means fear
of dying. About 68% of the United States population suffers from Necrophobia. (Fear/Phobia
Statistics). Some people do not fear death, one of my scources states, "More than two thousand
years ago, the Greek philosopher Epicurus constructed an argument against fearing death that has
since become even more plausible: "Death does not concern us, because as long as we exist, death is
not here. And when it does come, we no longer exist." Epicurus was one of the first atomists who
believed that everything consists of material entities and that there are no souls that survive death. If
your life ends at death, then you have nothing to fear, because there will be no YOU to experience
pleasure or pain. It's all over when it's over." (Should You Fear Death). Is there more people in the
world that fear death than people that don't? In Geoffrey Chaucer's "The Pardoner's Tale", the fear of
death was explained as an evil thing and not to be sought out. To the three rioters in the story view
death as nonchalant and rather a nuisance than a fear, because in the story the three rioters go and
seek death rather than avoid it. The main rioter says in the story, "In this affair, and each defend the
others, And we will kill this traitor Death I say!" (Chaucer). Other characters in the story view death

was in term, the Subprime Mortgage Crisis occured in 2008. During this time, many homeowners

After cutting federal income tax rates, Bush faced critisism from the Democratic party. This lead to

MLK Jr's Influence on Civil Rights

  • 1. Police Brutality In All American Boys Without fiction our imaginations will never be achieved, everything will be boring and too real. In result, children will be forced to grow up faster than they should be. In this book however it may be real in some situations in life, it is a fake story about a young black male who gets wrongfully accused of stealing. He is then abused by a police officer who was on duty at the time and ends with injuries that puts him in the hospital.Without having fiction we would have never thought of how badly police can act upon and black male. This helps us see more situations on whether or not the police or citizen was at fault. Fiction needs to be included in the curriculum because we can never imagine situations that can often happen in real life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "Many years later, little had changed. A black man named Rodney King was involved in a high– speed chase in Los Angeles. California, on March 3, 1991. Police pulled him from the car and beat him. A bystander took video footage of the beating. The four police officers involved were indicted, but they were acquitted in 1992." ( "Police Brutality and Race.")The quote from the article "police brutality and race" shows a situation that happened in 1991 that is similar to the incident in the book. A lot of times when incidents like police brutality the police officers often win because they are "doing their jobs" when in reality they are often accusing many citizens. Often cases of police brutality the civilian that is abused is male and black. This is because they are stereotyping thinking they are up to no good when they can be innocent by standers. Racism and stereotyping in most cases end badly. Police officers abuse their powers and hurt and or injure people because they "assume" which often leads to a bad ending. "FBI statistics show that white officers killed black suspects twice a week in the United States over a seven–year period. That's an average of 96 times a year." (police officers abuse their power).studies show that WHITE police officers are the ones to kill BLACK suspects due to "assumption". Their is a very high statistic that shows how many blacks are killed in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. The Technology Revolution Of The 21st Century Living in the 21st Century most of us, if not all, have been lucky enough to witness the technology revolution that is occurring at an exponential rate. Phones are getting lighter, computers are getting faster and the Internet has become more accessible than ever. One would think that having all this technology and information around us; it should be quite easy launching a healthcare site for the use of millions. That is where you would be wrong. The US Government landed themselves into a similar predicament when they underestimated the complexity behind producing healthcare.gov, a site created by the Obama Care administration in hopes to help millions of people obtain health insurance. Healthcare.gov is a federal site that facilitates purchase of private health insurance for consumers who reside in the states. The site was launched October 1st, 2013 and was instantly met with many technical issues. So much so that even Obama himself expressed his frustration as 98% of the first 20 million people who accessed the site had issues ranging of website outages and technical malfunctions. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) was able to later perform corrective actions and roll out health plans for millions of Americans across the United States, but not before surpassing its budget by nearly 1.6 billion dollars. Needles to say the execution around Healthcare.Gov was handled poorly and raised concerns regarding the effectiveness of the CMS management. In this report ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Revenance : The Theme Of Forgiveness Vs. Retribution Forgiveness vs. Retribution "The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong." This quote by Mahatma Gandhi describes the character it takes to forgive an individual of wrongdoing. Forgiveness results in multiple positive outcomes for both the forgiver and the the person being forgiven. Shakespeare's The Tempest, Keating's "I Forgave the Man Who Shot Me" and Bettencourt's "Triumph of the Heart" discuss the importance of forgiveness in terms of moving on, freeing someone of guilt and finding happiness. In order to move on from a terrible incident, forgiveness is necessary for both sides. For example, in Keating's "I Forgave the Man Who Shot Me" Debbie Baigrie was able to move on despite being shot in the face by Ian Manuel. "People would say, 'stay away from him, what are you doing?'" says Baigrie (with Manuel). "But he's a human being. He's smart. He has a lot to contribute. Why not give the guy a second chance?" (Keating 71). Relating to the theme of forgiveness, Debbie was able to move on and forgive this man for his wrongdoings. Without Ian apologizing and Debbie forgiving, neither one of them would have been able to move on from this incident. That is why it is essential to forgive one for their wrongdoings. Just like this, forgiveness is key in The Tempest. Prospero is able to forgive his brother Antonio for his wrongdoings and plotting to kill the king, because of this, the two were able to come to peace and move on without any violence, "... I ... • 5. Martin Luther King Jr Influence Martin Luther King Jr "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."–Martin Luther King Jr. I believe that the quote means that from hate no more can come and the only other thing to is love. Martin Luther King Jr. was an important and influential figure in history that had a positive impact on the world because during his time there was discrimination against blacks in the U.S, without Martin Luther King blacks might not have equal rights right now and there would still be discrimination and racism every day against blacks. • 6. The Issue Of Child Soldiers The stakes are high, and the risks are obvious. We must remember that we are dealing with lives of children, not hardened criminals. Child soldiers and previous ones have a lot on their shoulders and by granting them amnesty we will be able to provide a better future for them. Many countries have participated in committing the atrocious crime of using children to fight in wars as part of their armies, some of them being Sierra Leone, Afghanistan, Uganda and many others. Many people believe that previous child soldiers should be put through court to be convicted of the war crimes that they committed, but this often leads to time in prison and hard feelings of violence towards the government. There is nothing for these children in jail. They simply cannot thrive in that ghastly environment and it should be a crime to stop them right in the middle of their development. We must grant these children amnesty because what they did was only to survive and we can easily adjust them to a new life by providing them with proper education. We must realize that these people are first and foremost children, children who still have potential to be good and to change from their violent past when given the education. Many children who have fought in wars do not know what they are actually fighting for. They are not involved with politics and sometimes are simply fighting because they know they will not survive any other way. All these children know is survival, and that sometimes it comes at ... • 9. The Presidential Election Of 2016 The Presidential Election of 2016 is not until November, but both parties are beginning to narrow their fields down and begin their preparation for an election that is expected to be highly contested. With previous election seasons, the current primary season has already seen some notable in– fighting within the two major political parties, with potential candidates attacking each other in an attempt to get their party nominated. What is very interesting is how fluctuating the support for a candidate can be during the primary season. For example, Republican Donald Trump once had a formable lead over the next contender Hillary Clinton. In the democratic field, the top three candidates were Hillary Clinton , Bernie Sanders, and Martin O Malley. [1] From Washington to Washington D.C the idea that Donald Trump could become president has alternately set off fits of laughter and terror. Out of all of the republican candidates Donald Trump is easily most polarizing. People either really love or really hate the businessman, who isn 't afraid to speak his mind.[2] Trump has no experience in politics, but does have the experience as a businessman. Trump's stance on the issues taking place is difficult to determine, not because he hasn't made an issue statement but because he has made to many issue statements and has, in fact, been a member of both political parties in previous years. The establishment argument goes something like this: first, Trump will implode, owing to some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Piggy Lord Of The Flies Socratic Seminar Questions MaiThy Nguyen Mrs. Swaim English 2 Honors 13 September 2016 Lord of the Flies Socratic Seminar Core Questions Q: What did Piggy's death mean for the story? A: Piggy's main role in Lord of the Flies was representation of intelligence , logic, and the voice of reason. He was one of the first characters to appear in the book, and over the course of the story he became a victim of hurtful jibes and eventually Jack and his tribe's savage behavior. Piggy's logical and reasonable nature shows when he votes for Ralph to be chief and when he suggests that the beast is not real. Piggy's death meant the destruction of reason in the boys' savage society. This is heavily implied when he dies at the hands of Jack's tribe. Another thing of importance ... • 11. Alex Trochut Analysis Rudyard Kipling once said "Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind" and boy I'm hooked. Throughout my entire life I have always been fascinated with typography even before I knew what a font even truly was. For the past few years I have been following the works of typographic designer Alex Trochut and his amazing work. His work can be seen on anything from famous magazines such as "TIME" and "Vanity Fair" to globally recognized names such as Katy Perry and Wiz Khalifa. Barcelona based Trochut is renowned for his extremely intricate and detailed typographic design work (inkbotdesign.com). For "TIME" magazine they commissioned him to create a cover that depicts "the best of 2013" he creates this with a flowing pattern using six equally spaced lines which he has curved and gives the implied sense of form and space. The final design is so creative and in doing so is very eye catching and memorable. It is this type of flowing and intricate designs, which have allowed Trochut to make his mark on the design world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For each of his designs he must create the type from nothing. • 12. Good Versus Evil In Ray Bradbury's 'Something Wicked This... Emma Begley Wilson Pre–Ap Ela 09 October 2017 Something Wicked This Way Comes Have you ever had a feeling someone or something is coming well in the novel Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury this is what happens. In a little town called Green Town, Illinois two boys get approached by a man holding a stick and the boys get persuaded about this stick. The man tells them that it keeps lightening away and one boy falls for it while the one does not. As the story progresses the theme Good versus Evil really becomes apparent to the reader. This is supported by the title, the time, and the characters. The theme of this text is good versus evil. This novel has many different components to support the theme. The title of the novel even supports this theme because it is implying that something evil is coming and the good in the world is going to be attacked. As the story develops the characters and the setting helps develop the theme. The "Freaks" and its carnival really help you get the idea that evil is not really a feeling or action but more of a figure or form because the carnival is all evil."He wanted to be near and not near them, he saw them close, he saw them far. Suddenly they were awfully small in too large a room in too big a town and much too huge a world. In this unlocked place they seemed at the mercy of anything that might break in from the night"(34). This quote is talking about the freaks and how Will does not want to be near them. As we continue through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Animal and nature imagery the novel nature is presented as a force of innocence and the truth beginning with clarisse's. Clarisse's convinces montag to taste the rain and the experience change him irrevocably Montag escape from the city into the country is a revelation to him showing him the enlightening power of unspoiled nature. The phoenix is a symbol for renewal for life follows death in a cleaning fire. The hearth or fireplace is a traditional symbol of the home the salamander is one the official symbols of the fireman. The phoenix is a lizard who is a mythic being able to live even in the presence of a fire it's skin is cold and suggested that cold body can put out the flame the rising phoenix out of the ashes live again. Fire is an interesting symbol in fahrenheit 451 because it symbolizes two different meanings. The fireman who burn books and wear the number 451 on their helments fire symolizes destruction (451 is the temperature at which paper and books burn.) when fire is controlled symbolizes the flickering of self awareness and knowledge. After the city is reduced to ashes by bombers in fahrenheit 451 granger compares mankind to phoenix that burns itself up and then rises out of it's ashes over and over again both destroy themselves in fire and both start up again amid the ashes. Enzymes can be seen as proteins of adjustments of chemical reactions, and they are macromolecules. Enzymes are made from amino acids. When an enzyme if established, it is produced by linking combined between 100 and 1,000 amino acids in a very particular and distinctive sequence (How stuff works, 2017). Their 3D structure determines their function. LMI countries account for eighty percent of CVD–related deaths in the world, bearing the largest part of the global CVD burden. The rise of cardiovascular diseases in LMI countries follows the same pattern as in the developed world in the latter part of the twentieth century. However, the CVD phenomenon has different ramifications for low–and middle income (LMI) countries from the developed world. High–income countries have been more successful in cardiovascular disease (CVD) control, where CVD incidence and mortality rates are on the decline. Developing countries do not have the necessary healthcare systems like the advanced nations. Government hospitals do not provide the necessary care that CVD patients require and private healthcare provid– ers leave many patients financially crippled. Not only are the governments of these countries unable to provide sufficient financial resources for health spending, global agencies committed to impro– ving the world's health fail to include cardiovascular illnesses in their social investments portfolio. To address this alarming trend, the U.N. convened a high–level meeting in 2011 to highlight the severe consequences of CVD prevalence on public health in developing countries. It came to the conclusion that poverty worsens the CVD epidemic in LMI countries and the disease in turn weakens the individual's economic condi– tion. However, a lot of research is required to understand

  • 35. Apa Guide APA Format: What Does It Mean? Almost every KGSM written assignment specifies that the paper conform to APA style. But no one really knows what this means. At the very least, the requirement could be that references be cited as described in the APA manual. But APA style involves a lot more. In this document, I will explain and/or provide examples of what I, personally, consider to be important in my classes. Some professors may require more or less. My best advice for what to do in other classes is to ask the professor. Two Required Elements Every paper has to have an introduction and a conclusion. The introduction establishes why the reader should read the paper. Notice that the introduction does not get a heading. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I am told Word also has a utility for managing references. I have never used it. You could also keep track of everything manually. Citations Some students may be familiar with the use of footnotes to provide information about sources of information. With APA format, footnotes are not used for this purpose. Instead, we use in–text citations and a references page near the end of the paper. The rules of the formatting of citations and references are somewhat arcane. Typically, professors will be okay with your formatting being pretty close. I am. Some professors might be sticklers about this. You might want to ask before beginning your writing assignment. Software such as Reference Point or EndNote will take care of the formatting for you if you use such software. Otherwise you will want to pay close attention to examples provided in the manual or other trusted sources. Here are some example citations and references. In some cases, I have simplified, maybe over simplified some of the rules. I will be happy if you use the basics. You might want to ask your professor if you need to be more of a stickler. Here are citations for a book (Giorgi, 2009), a journal article (J. B. • 38. Why Do People Fear Death : The Fear Of Death Fear Of Death Essay Why do people fear death? Death can be both a natural or a unnatural occurence that a majority of people cannot mentally grasp the acceptance. Necrophobia means fear of dying. About 68% of the United States population suffers from Necrophobia. (Fear/Phobia Statistics). Some people do not fear death, one of my scources states, "More than two thousand years ago, the Greek philosopher Epicurus constructed an argument against fearing death that has since become even more plausible: "Death does not concern us, because as long as we exist, death is not here. And when it does come, we no longer exist." Epicurus was one of the first atomists who believed that everything consists of material entities and that there are no souls that survive death. If your life ends at death, then you have nothing to fear, because there will be no YOU to experience pleasure or pain. It's all over when it's over." (Should You Fear Death). Is there more people in the world that fear death than people that don't? In Geoffrey Chaucer's "The Pardoner's Tale", the fear of death was explained as an evil thing and not to be sought out. To the three rioters in the story view death as nonchalant and rather a nuisance than a fear, because in the story the three rioters go and seek death rather than avoid it. The main rioter says in the story, "In this affair, and each defend the others, And we will kill this traitor Death I say!" (Chaucer). Other characters in the story view death as a person ... Drawing the rate even farther back by 1.5%. Also while he was in term, the Subprime Mortgage Crisis occured in 2008. During this time, many homeowners were down or falling behind on bills and payments, and foreclosure rates were higher than ever. After cutting federal income tax rates, Bush faced critisism from the Democratic party. This lead to him signing the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2008. This act made sure that any and all children recieved at least a basic education. Including poor children who might not be able to afford even public school. He also passed a couple other acts towards the end of his term, such as the Medicare Prescription Act and the Modernization Act. He had a massive amount of scandal issues during his term. A few of the major ones were the scandal about Enron, the PATRIOTS act, and even him using questionable data to justify the attacks on Iran. Although he did many questionable things though, a good majority were actually sad to see him resign.
