How did you attract and addressyour audience?
Language: The language I usedinmy magazine consistsof simpleinformal wordsthatmytarget
audience will be able tounderstandandmostlikelyuse intheirconversations.Ialsobelievethatmy
audience wouldagree withwhatIamsayingaboutthe musiciansandsongsthatI have mentioned.
Font: The fontin my magazine isnottoo advancedasit issimplyadefault Photoshop text.Ihave
usedthe coloursblackand white as theyare part of the colourscheme.Ialsoincorporatedthe
colourred forcertaintextbecause itwill standoutmore in comparisontothe othercolours.Thiswill
keepthe readerinterestedastheywantto see whatisso importantthatit needsitsowncolour.
Images: I have integratedmanyimagesintothe magazinesuchas on the cover,contentspage and
double page spread.Ibelieve havingimagesthroughoutthe magazine will keepthe reader
interested.Additionallythe imageswereuseddue tothe preferencesof mytargetaudience. The
imageswill allurethe targetaudience astheyshare the same characteristicsandbehaviourwhich
theywill identifywithasnotmany indie people are uniqueastheyall like the same things.
I usedbothmales andfemalesasmodelsasthiswould thencoverall basisand
appeal tothem. The use of multiple imagesallowsme tofill the spacesanditalso
enablesthe readertojudge andcompare the clothingandappearance of each
model whichisalsoa bigpart in the social livesof the audience.
Masthead: The fontI usedfor mymastheadisas showndue to itsuniqueness
and howquirkyitseems.Ichangedthe style of the mastheadthroughoutthe
magazine totry and mix thingsupand keepthe readerinterested.Iknow that
thisgoesagainstthe codesand conventionstraditionallyusedinnotonlymusic
magazinesbutalsomanyothercategoriessuchas fashionandmotoring. The
coloursusedforthe mastheadfollow the colourschemeof the magazine which
doesnotupsetthe mind-setof the readerasthey scan throughthe magazine.

are goingreadnext.The more descriptive the contentspage the more likelythe personisgoingto
readmost of the magazine.Iusedthese imagesasIbelievetheysumupwhatan
indie personwouldlooklike/liketosee.The titlesandtextonthe page isdividedinto
sectionsasI thinkthe readerwouldprefertosee a nice neatand organisedpage
where itiseasyto read insteadof a messypage where youdon’tknow where tolook.
These sectionswere used astheyseemtobe whatthe readerwantsto read about.I
made the titlesredsotheystand outmore andI made the descriptionswhite and
blackso that theywouldcontrastnicely.The small iconsthatIplacedin the topright
have beenusedastheyare verycommonand tell the readerthattheycan contact us
or keepupto date usingthese social networkingsites.Inthe bottomrightof the page
the ‘artistof the month’ischosenineach issue whichwill bringthe fanstogetherand
helpthemdiscoverunderratedmusicianswhichisthe mainreasonforthismagazine
and the mainreasonfor the audience readingit.
Layout: I laidthe frontcoverout ina certainwayas I thoughtthat the maincover line wouldbe
more affective atthe bottomof the page and thatthe image shouldcoverthe page as thiswould
maximise itsreachtothe customersview.Ialsoplacedthe mastheadinthe topcorner as I followed
conventions,Ialsodidthisforthe contentspage and double page spread.Iincludedmanyimageson
the contentspage as it gave more of an insightintowhateach page was aboutand helpedconstruct
the articlesandstories.Iusedlinesanddifferentcolourstoseparate the categories.Icopiedthe
style fromthe frontcoverfor the double page spreadandstretchedthe image acrossa whole page
and mostof the secondpage. I alsochangedthe colourof the textdependingonitsimportance and
whetheritcontrastedwiththe backgroundornot whichI thinkmade a huge difference inagood
way.
Questionnaire results:The questionnaire resultswere verymixedbutoverall Ibelievethe general
feelingbetweenthe targetaudience isthatI have managedtocapture many importantfactorssuch
as the imagesbeingaccurate by portrayingsimilarclothingandattitudes,the contentbeing
interestingandappropriate forthe audience andincludingwaysinwhichthe readercaninteract
withthe magazine whichcreatesabondwhicheventuallyleadstoaloyal fanbase guaranteeing
