3. Hannah Montana.
• Miley Cyrus first became famous when she
was around 13 when she starred on Disney
Channel playing Hannah Montana.
•By playing this role she created quite a young
female fan base.
•She was thought of as quite innocent and she
stuck with this role for a couple of years, but
resulted in a dramatic change for her a couple
on years later.
4. Miley Cyrus - 2007
• In 2007 Miley Cyrus started releasing music as Miley Cyrus instead of Hannah Montana.
• Her first album was ‘Meet Miley Cyrus’ and went on to release more such as, ‘Breakout’ and her
hit single ‘The Climb’.
•This was the first time she was noticed outside of Hannah Montana.
• And as she grew older she released ‘Party in the USA’, and this was the main point which her
Hannah Montana exterior was lost and she started to mature as an artist.
5. The Last Song. – 2010.
• Miley Cyrus was one of the main roles in the film ‘The Last Song’.
•This was a successful film, and added to Miley Cyrus’s fame.
•However, it was the relationship which started from this which made Miley into the media.
•This film started a relationship with Miley herself and Liam Hemsworth, and they shortly became engaged.
• Unfortunately the engagement only lasted for a year, and it has been rumoured that it was this breakup
that was the reason for her recent ‘antics’ that has got her so well known within the media.
6. Bangerz – 2013.
• During 2013 this was when Miley became very popular in the media.
• It was said that she was either reacting badly from the breakup or was rebelling from the
innocent appearance which she was given from her TV program called Hannah Montana.
•He dramatically changed her style, her music and did some shocking things that will get her
noticed. It has also been said she has done these ‘outrageous’ things to get herself noticed
before the release of her album called ‘Bangerz’. Which could be true as the album did very well.
7. Mileys target audience.
• Mileys target audience changed once she changed her image etc.
• Her target audience are around teens (around 17-20), and the way she attracts her audience is
through her fashion, and lyrics.
• Many of her lyrics consist of alcohol, drugs, sex etc. Which are thought of as key features of her
target audiences lives, making them interested in what she is up to, and what she is singing
about.
• Her massive change in style etc. And going away from her innocent perception made her known
in the media, making her well known helping her to sell more albums.
8. “23”
“I'm in the club high on Purp with some shades on”
She is smoking which is thought of as
‘cool’ around the age of her target
audience. By having this in her video
it gives her target audience
something to relate to.
This is similar to the last image,
drugs are also something which is
thought of as ‘cool’ and also gives
her target audience something to
relate too.
I think ‘The Male Gaze Theory’ was
used here. By having her in little
clothing, sat the way she is while
biting her lips, it attracts the male
audience and it is said that it can give
girls some ideas of the way they want
to be seen.
