Traditional Dress Of 10 Countries In ASEAN
ASEAN is very close to us. We are going to be in ASEAN
social in 2015. Today I will show you the Traditional dress of
each countries in ASEAN.
1. Malaysian traditional dress
Malaysian national dress for men called “Baju Melayu”.
Include with Long arm shirt,trousers and long skirt which
made from silk, cotton, or a blend of cotton polyester. For
women called “Baju Kurun”. Include with the coat of arms
length and a long skirt.

2. 2.Vietnamese traditional dress
“Ao dai” is a National dress of Vietnam. Include with fit silk
dress worn over trousers, which always wear in wedding
and important ceremony of country. It’s looks like “Ki-Pao”
dress of China. Now a day it has been popular with
Vietnamese women. For men, they will wear “Ao dai” dress
in wedding or funeral ceremony.

3. 3.Myanmar traditional dress
The traditional of Myanmar, called “Longyi”, it’s a fabric
sarong to wear for both men and women. In various special
occasions. Man wears a shirt with Mandarin collar and a
coat without collar. Sometimes they will also wear a
headdress called “Guang Baung”, and Burmese women will
wear a dress with buttons up front called “Yinzi” dress with
side buttons called “Yinbon” and put a shawl over.

4. 4.Bruneian traditional dress
Bruneian traditional dress looks similar to traditional dress of
Malaysian man, called “Baju Melayu” for the women called
“Baju Kurung” but Bruneian taditional woman dress will be
more colorful. The most of it will be a dress cover a body
from head to toe. Man wears a long arm shirt, a shirt length
to the knee, wear a trousers and sarong, because Bruneian
is Muslim, so they have to dress neatly and entirely.

5. 5.Laos traditional dress
Laos women wear a sarong and long arm shirt. Laos men
dress a national or wear a loincloth. Wear a coat with seven
buttons similar to Thai traditional dress.

6. 6.Indonesian traditional dress
“Kebaya” is a traditional dress of Indonesia for
women. It’s have a look like long arm shirt and has buttons.
The shirt got a colorful color. Embroidered by lace design,
and the sarong is a batik sarong. For men, usually wear
batik shirt and wear a trousers or “Teluk Beskap”, which is a
dress mix between a short coat like Javanese and sarong
and wear sarong at home or pray at mosque.

7. 7.Philippines traditional dress
Men wear a trousers and wear a shirt called “Barong
Tagalog” which is sewn by pineapple fiber, include with a
set neck, shoulder, arm, forearm length embroidered jacket
cuff. Women wear long skirt and beige pleated short sleeve
shirt lifted up above the shoulder like a butterfly wings called
“Balintawak”

8. 8.Thai traditional dress
For women wear a Thai dress with “Sabai” (a long piece of
cloth) use a cloth to lift, pleat a skirt in front, have a carry
belt. Upper part is a “Sabai” and sew sabai and skirt to be
one piece or sometimes they will separate it. Show one
shoulder side and have a cape of sabai cover a shoulder,
leave the another side down.

9. 9.Cambodian traditional dress
Cambodian traditional dress is “Sampot” or Cambodia skirt
woven by hand with both loose and fitted. Always made of
silk or cotton mix them together. “Sampot” for women looks
similar to Laos skirt and Thai. There are many different kind
of “Sampot” according to the social of people in Cambodia.
In daily basic day will use inexpensive materials, which are
send from Japan. Popular design in transverse pattern if it’s
in elegant type, it would woven by gold thread or silver
thread.

10. 10.Singaporean traditional dress
Singapore country hasn’t their own traditional dress
because they are separate into 4 nationalities are Chinese,
Malaysian, Indian and European, and each nationalities got
their own traditional dress such as Malaysian women in
Singapore wear “Kebaya” dress. The dress is very colorful.
Bind in lace design. Chinese wear long arm shirt with
Chinese collar and thick dress hide a button and wear
trousers.
