We carried out a lot of research before making the short film to distinguish
whom the target audience would be. We carried out research such as surveys on
Survey Monkey and Google Docs , which gave us information to suggest that our
target audience would be from the ages of 15-30. As teenagers are really
intrigued by horror films and generally end to watch them together like at sleep
overs or gatherings. We also discovered that the older generation are not fans of
horror movies and tend not to watch them, therefor we thought that finding a
happy medium of 15-30 would fit our target audience. As we thought, the
surveys showed us that children and the younger generation do not like horror
films aswell as they easily get scared and get nightmares, therefore their parents
tend not to let them watch them. To support out theory, there is usually a age
restriction on horror movies of about 15 plus, therefore children are not able to
watch horror movies in the cinema, but there is nothing stopping them from
watching at home.
When it comes to the target gender we could not distinguish which gender likes
horror movies the most. As it is stereo yped that males are better fans of horror
movie and females tend not to like the, we found quite the opposite. The survey
showed us that both genders like horror movies equally but females tend to like
them more or go the cinema to watch them more often the males. Therefore we
decided that our target gender would be both male and female as both like
horror films just as much.
Therefore our overall target audience is both males and females from an age of
15 to 30+.
