Do you know someone who relives their past every day? Are they always sad, depressed and/or
angry? Or maybe just stressed and rethinking their whole life situation? Maybe something or
someone has completely drained them or brain washed them and they can't continue their lives in a
positive way. A person may have a psychological problem where they may never get over a certain
situation that happened in their life. Every person around the world has a totally different life story.
Often times many people may have the same story but they differ in certain ways. Past situations in
my life have caused me to rethink my life and wonder why I am even here and why this has
happened to me.

He is sad, depressed and overly stressed. This situation is why I chose the word carpe diem.
Carpe diem is a Latin aphorism, usually translated "seize the day." It was taken from the Roman
poet Horace 's Odes. This definition is a word I would like many people like my father to understand
clearly and take part in. Move on with your life and continue on with the more positive things life
has to offer. We should live in the now and not our past. This word also can be seen in a sense to be

art that we find a universal connection provided by the artist or author, and oftentimes advice to help
us cope with our humanity. For instance in "If You Forget About Me", poet Pablo Neruda uses
literary devices such as tone and metaphor to represent how love can be romantic, yet volatile. For
example, Neruda uses a switch in tone from the beginning where the speaker is loving and romantic
describing how, "everything carries me to you"(Neruda, 11). The tone changes in the middle of the
poem, becoming ominous, "Well, now, if little by little you stop loving me I shall stop loving you

In the poem, "Where is She?" by Peter Cherches, the speaker focuses on a man who has a feeling of
loss after an important woman in his life goes missing. After the woman goes missing, the man
begins to think about her so much, that over time, he begins to forget her. The poem describes the
man's loneliness through his memory and imaginations of this woman while he is trying to hold onto
every last memory he has of her. Peter Cherches uses words describing images in a man's
imagination to show the loneliness he was experiencing without the woman that he believes he

It takes a village to raise a child, and that is the atmosphere that I was raised in. My grandparents'

When Elie arrives at the camps, the author begins to use the corpse as a symbol of a living person

As days went by in the concentration camp, many begin to lose their faith in religion just like Elie.
The book, Night is written by Elie Wiesel, a winner of the Nobel Peace prize. In the book Night,
Elie is the main character who is very religious at first. It begins with his family and him traveling to
Auschwitz which his little sister and mother die. With only his father and him, they went through
many hardships and moving from camp to camp. Unfortunately, Elie father did not survive the
Holocaust but Elie did. By the end of the story, Elie did entirely lose his faith in God because he did
not celebrate the important holidays, questioned God and his justice, and tries to forget his
existence.
One way that shows Elie loss of faith in religion is that he refuse to participate and enjoy the
religious holidays. Once a religious Jewish who study the Kabbalah, Elie did not enjoy Rosh
Hashana and pray like the other Jews. He also decided not to fast during Yom Kippur. "And then,
there was no longer any reason for me to fast. I no longer accepted God's silence. As I swallowed
my ration of soup. I turned that act into a symbol of rebellion, of protest against him"(Wiesel, 69).
Wiesel uses words such as silence, rebellion, and protests against him to bring out the anger in Elie's
voice and feeling. He realizes that faith does not help you survive. Elie's refusal to participate in
these holidays indicates the beginning process of losing his faith.

Dementia. Dementia is a depletion of mental ability caused by brain cells dying. However, many
factors have been linked to the development of AD, and there is not yet a cure and the main cause is
unknown. Most people develop AD over the age of 65. Alois Alzheimer first found AD in Germany
during 1901. Although not much attention was paid to the disease at the time, AD is becoming an
increasing worry in our society due to the ageing population. Introduction For this Assignment, my
intention is to examine a range of current treatments used for AD and to compare their effectiveness
in terms of improving the quality of life for the patient. This has a significant effect on
pharmacologists in terms of determining the best treatments to help narrow down the most suitable
