Personal skills audit
1. Personal Skills Audit
Name: Meghan Darby
Skills acquired
Digital technology
- What
equipment/software
packages did you use to
produce your
production?
Post production
- What software did you
use to create your
production?
- Discuss specific features
of the software.
-
Sony Camera
Garageband
iMovie
Photoshop
The software we used in order
to create our production was
iMovie, the features were very
limited in comparison to Final
Cut, we didn’t realize this until
we were far through the editing
and production of our film.
How did these skills
contribute to the creation of
your product?
These allowed me to produce
different media material such
as, sound effects, the
production logo and the actual
film recording itself.
iMovie allowed us to edit our
film so that we could change
the visual effects (black &
white) and sound effects this
contributing to our film
massively since we didn’t use
any dialogue.
How will you develop these
skills during the A2 project?
I plan to develop in A2 by using
these skills also using Final Cut.
Especially since in our project
we have to produce a digi-pack
which can be created using
Photoshop, and the music video
itself being created, and
manipulated using Final Cut by
adding effects to the green
screen if used within our
project.
I personally will develop these
skills by making my next project
on Final Cut, and then I can
develop my work, experiment
with my filming and production
and come out with a better
product than I did in the
previous year.
2. Research and Planning
- What tasks did you
complete when
preparing to film your
sequence?
- How did your planning
help the smooth
progression of your film?
Using conventions of real
media texts
- Which texts did you
analyze?
- Did you take any
inspiration from the
conventions found from
your research?
Creativity
- were our ideas for your
portfolio imaginative and unique
or did you adhere to
conventions?
We completed several tasks
within our research and
preparing our film, this
including: The history, the style,
the institution of our film and
who our audience will be. This
gave an outlook on what type of
film we wanted to make and
how to make it.
Productively analyzing certain
texts such as, trailers, music
within films and audience
research. We took on board
many inspirations in order to
create a final product, which
worked well with the genre.
The planning allowed us to
explore and add to ideas, this
helping very much towards the
production of our film, this
including storyboards and how
we wanted to shoot the film and
what shots would work best for
our production of the film.
I will develop these skills by
increasing the depth of
research in order to create our
A2 Project, planning is also key
to how we can produce the
music video and make it look
the best, and relevant to the
genre.
The use of texts and critical
analysis provided us with a
inspiration as to how we could
produce our media product.
What we could use within the
product to please the target
audience, the use of
representation, mise en scene,
camera angels and sound.
In my A2 project I will use these
skills to my advantage. Using
research and analyze to know
what we will include in our
music video, advert and digipak
and what will not work as well,
in able to produce a above
average performance within our
video and how to convey it
productively.
We looked towards other films,
analyzing and researching what
is conventional and similar and
what isn’t.
We used the skills to our
advantage to create a product
which is unique but stays
conventional to the genre.
In my A2 project I hope I will
add to these skills, and use
more imagination to put towards
a visual product. We hope to
convey conventions in our final
product, however adding a
unique feel towards it.
