• Land transport refers to activities
of physical movement of goods
and passengers on land.
• This movement takes place on
road, rail, rope or pipe. So land
transport may further be divided
into Road transport, Rail
transport, Ropeway transport,
pipeline transport.
 Transport makes it possible to
carry raw materials from places
where they are available, to
places where they can be
processed and assembled into
finished goods.
 Transport makes possible
movement of goods from one
place to another with great ease
and speed. Thus, consumers
spread in different parts of the
country have the benefit of
consuming goods produced at
distant places.
Easy means of transport
facilitates large-scale production
at low costs. It gives consumers
the choice to make use of
different quantities of goods at
different prices. So it raises the
standard of living of the people.
 In times of national crisis, due to
war or internal disturbance,
transport helps in quick
movement of troops and the
supplies needed in the operation.
 It helps a lot in providing mobility
to workers. They move from one
part to another in search of work.
People go to foreign countries to
work in different industries and co.
• In short, Transport system bring
the workers from where they
reside to the place of work.
 Transport provides employment
opportunity to individuals as
drivers, conductors, pilots, cabin
crew, captain of the ship, etc. who
are directly engaged in transport
business.
 It also provides employment to
people indirectly in the industries
producing various means of
transport and other transport
equipments.
People can also provide repairing
and maintenance services by
opening service centers at
convenient locations.
• Roads are the
means that
connect one
place to another
on the surface of
the land. You
must have seen
roads in your
village, in towns
and cities.
i. Man driven;
ii. Animal driven; and
iii. Motor driven.
• Is a way in
transportation
where in
individuals are
carrying people
or goods on
their head or
back, to move
from one place
• Animal driven

horses, donkeys,
etc.) used in rural
areas to carry
crops, straw,
fodder and
sometimes even

• Is a speedy
transportation
where in you use a
motor vehicle from
one place to
another. The faster
movement and
larger carrying
capacity enhanced
by the use of motor
driven transport.
• It is a relatively cheaper mode of transport as
compared to other modes.
• Perishable goods can be transported at a
faster speed by road carriers over a short
distance.
• It is a flexible mode of transport as loading and
unloading is possible at any destination. It
provides door-to-door service.
• It helps people to travel and carry goods from
one place to another, in places which are not
connected by other means of transport like
• Due to limited carrying capacity road
transport is not economical for long
distance transportation of goods.
• Transportation of heavy goods or goods in
bulk by road involves high cost.
• It is affected by adverse weather
conditions. Floods, rain, landslide, etc.,
sometimes create obstructions to road
transport.
• A vehicle consisting
of a light frame
mounted on two
wheels one behind
the other and
having a seat,
handlebars for
steering, brakes,
and two pedals or a
small motor by

a motorbike, bike, or
cycle) is a single-track,
two-wheeled motor
vehicle.
• Motorcycles vary
considerably depending
on the task for which
they are designed, such
as long distance travel,
navigating congested
urban traffic, cruising,
sport and racing, or off-
• A kalesa or karitela is
a horse-driven
carriage used in the
Philippines.
• This was one of the
modes of
transportation
introduced in the
Philippines in the 18th
century by the
Spaniards that only

• A tricycle (often
abbreviated to trike) is

the small three-
wheeled vehicles used
by pre-school age
children, they are also
used by adults for a
variety of purposes

automobile (and
registered trademark) of
Chrysler. It is the oldest
off-road vehicle (also
sport utility vehicle).
• The original vehicle which
first appeared as the
prototype Bantam BRC
became the primary light
4-wheel-drive vehicle of
the US Army and Allies
during World War II and
the postwar period
• Jeepney are the most
popular means of public
transportation in the
Philippines.
• They were originally
made from US military
jeeps left over from
WWII and are known for
their flamboyant
decoration and crowded
seating. They have
become a symbol of
• An automobile, or car is
a wheeled motor vehicle
used for transporting
passengers, which also
carries its own engine or
motor.
• This are designed to run
primarily on roads, to
have seating for one to
eight people, to typically
have four wheels, and to
be constructed principally
for the transport of people
rather than goods.
• is a kind of vehicle
used for transporting
goods or groups of
people.
• It is usually a box-
shaped vehicle on four
wheels, about the
same width and length
as a large automobile,
but taller and usually
higher off the ground,
also referred to as a
light commercial
• is a road vehicle
designed to carry
passengers. Buses
have a capacity as
high as 300
passengers.
• Buses are widely
used public
transportation.
• is a motor vehicle
designed to transport
cargo. It vary greatly in
size, power and
configuration.
• Modern trucks are
powered by either
gasoline or diesel
engines, with the latter
dominant in commercial
applications.
• CAR RENTALS
- An agency that
offers cars and vans
for rent for private
transport.
- Personal Driver is
also included
depending on the
arrangement
• TO GET AROUND EASILY – The flexible
transportation that a car provides is
perhaps its greatest strength. You can
drive directly to your hotel or motel, take
unplanned side trips, and stop wherever
you like, all while carrying your luggage
with you in the trunk. Trains, taxis, and
buses rarely permit that kind of freedom.
• TO BEST NAVIGATE AND / OR
EXPERIENCE A PLACE – Some
destinations with extensive highway
systems are ideal for auto travel. That’s
what most locals favor to get from place to
place. Roads are best experienced from a
car.
• TO SAVE MONEY – If three or four people
travel in a car, it usually costs less, when
you figure the cost of the rental on a per-
person basis, than if they were travelling by
• TO DO BUSINESS – Business travelers
represent an important and highly profitable
segment of car renters, and their reasons aren’t
always purely practical. Some, for instance, rent
luxury cars to impress their clients.
• TO REPLACE YOUR OWN CAR – Insurance
company may authorize a car rental while your
own auto is repaired, located, or replaced. Car
dealerships and repair shops likewise have
agreements with car rental companies that permit
you – at a special rate or even free of charge – to
have a rental vehicle while your own vehicle is
served.
