1. WHO WOULD BE THE
AUDIENCE FOR YOUR MEDIA
PRODUCT?
EVALUATION QUESTION 4
2. It is vital for the success of every single film to research their
target audience, as they are the primary source of feedback
and information for what they like and dislike in a certain
genre.
This enables the film to aim for filming specific actions,
scenes, have different stories etc., therefore receiving more
earnings and positive feedback.
3. When creating my film, I knew that it would only appeal to certain
age groups.
The fantasy and horror genre are known for being watched by the
younger generation, rather than grown up adults. That is why I
made my film a mixture of genres – thriller, horror and fantasy.
The hybrid genre can attract a wider audience and also be
suitable for teenagers to enjoy.
The reason behind my target audience decision is that during my
research, where I had prepared a questionnaire, teenagers were
the age group, which was most likely to see a thriller.
4. Therefore, I have decided on a magazine, whose
core buyers are females aged between 15-20. By
advertising in “Teen Now”, I target a specific
audience, which is way more likely to pay
attention to the advert and see the film than
advertising in any other magazine with older
audience.
What would catch young people’s eye is always
much colorful or the opposite – monocolorful, as
the first is speaking of fun and excitement, and
the other – of a thrille, heroes, villains etc.
A dark thriller style of an advert in the magazine
would go well in contrast with the whole
magazine, consequently attract.
What is more, the magazine offers posters, which
would be a great way of promotion.
Laura Mulvey is a theorist, who said that the male viewer is usually able to
identify himself with male characters and that it is one of the things that he
likes the most about a film. As my film does not include any male
characters, it would probably decrease its chances amongst the male
audience.
