The document outlines plans for a rock music magazine, including font and color choices. For the front cover, the font "Lobster" will be used for the masthead, with the headlines in "Nueva Std Cond" and the main text in "Minion Pro Cond". The colors pink/brown were selected instead of red to seem more neutral. Pictures planned include a close-up of a person on the front cover tilted slightly, various artist photos and instrument images for the contents page, and either a horizontal photo spanning two pages or a vertical photo of a model with a guitar on one page paired with text on the other for the double page spread.
2. FONT IDEAS
- Front cover, master headline
Headline
Main text
These two fonts I've found for
my masthead was chosen
because they remind me about
the rock genre. They are quite
bold and will stand out from the
other fonts I`ll use.
For my front cover I`ll use the
font `lobster`, the one
Masthead is written in. This is a
simple font, but can still remind
about rock.
I want my headlines (22) and
my main text (12-14) to be very
original and easy to read. This
will make the masthead stand
more out and keep the page
clean and simple.
For my headline I`ll probably
use Nueva Std Cond because it
matches the best with my
chosen masthead.
My main text will be in the font
Minion Pro Cond, because that
is the simplest one.

3. INSPIRATION
I`ve found some really great inspiration pictures for my
music magazine. My front cover is going to be very
simple with less text and with a medium close up or close
up of a person. It is not going to my many colours – less is
more. My double page spread is going to have a big
headline, some under titles and text in three columns.
on one side, and one big picture on the other side.
I don’t think any of the contents pages I found are really
good, but they are inspiring me for how I`m going to
make my own. A few pictures, text on one side and one
big article that a big picture will represent. Also here I`ll
use quite few different colours (the same main colour as
on my front page) to make the two pages match.
4. COLOURS
I associate the rock genre
with black and white and a
little hit of another bright
colour, especially red.
Since I`m making a rock
magazine I thought these
colours would fit well.
I`m not going to use both the
red colours and the
pink/brown shades, but I
need to see what looks best
together before I decide.
The colours I`m planning to use is the pink/brown colours. This is because I
feel that red will be very bright and make a slightly bigger contrast
Than I want it to be. The pink/brown colours are very neutral and can work
for both boys and girls. It may have been different if I chose a bright
Pink colour instead, but as I said these colours are more neutral, and they
match very well together with the black and white scale.
5. PICTURES
FRONT COVER
For my front cover I`m going to use a close up or a medium close up picture of a
person, not directly from the front, but the person is going to tilt his head a little
to the side `in to the magazine` like in the picture to the right. I wont be using any
props
and colours aren`t that important since the picture is going to be black and white.
CONTETS PAGE
For my contents page I`ll take different pictures of people that may look like artist and
also some of instruments and different things that relate to the rock genre. The biggest
picture will be of the person I`m going to write about and have a picture of in my
double
page spread.
DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD
For my double page spread I`ll either use a horizontal picture that goes across both of
the pages or use one big picture on one page and place the text on the other one. For
the horizontal picture I`ll place my model to the right, so it will make a good balance
when the text is placed more to the right. I`ll take my horizontal picture outside in a
field or on a road. I may take the vertical picture in the same place or in the studio. For
props I`ll probably use a guitar and my models will wear clothes that of course relates
to the rock genre and has few dark colours.
