2. DJ Magazine
DJ magazine have successfully got a clear house style through their magazine. They
continue the same colour scheme throughout of blacks, yellows and reds. There is a
continuous use of the design element of using smiley faces throughout. They try and keep
the same layout to allow fluency. They also keep the same type fonts throughout again
achieving a successful house style. If all the pages where taken apart, people would easily
be able to place them back together. They have used the cover stories from the front page
as the main titles on the other double page spreads.
3. NME Magazine
NME magazine has also a very successful house style. They very clearly carry through their
main colour of red. This is NME signature colour as that is the base of their logo. All of the
main cover stories are backed by a very strong blocked red and again on the contents page
the the main titles and notices are blocked by red. Once again to keep up the house style the
main title on the double page spread has been written in the same red, allowing the
magazine to keep up continuity. As well as using the same colours they have used the same
person on the front page as they have on the double page spread. Also they have used the
same design elements throughout. They have also kept the same use of date and website
along the bottom edge of all article pages to ensure that all the pages look like they are from
the same magazine.
4. Q Magazine
Q magazine achieves very successful house style as they have clearly used the same images
of the band the Arctic Monkeys. Therefore you can tell that the articles belong to the same
issue of the magazine. They continue the same design elements of the red smoke through
out the double page spreads. This links in with the red used to back their logo. They also
keep this theme up by, backing the Q contents page heading as well as the Q reviews. This
ensures that the audience are aware they are reading the same magazine. They also keep up
the successful house style by keeping the use of the same colours and type fonts throughout
the front page, contents page and double page spread articles.
5. Conclusion
I have concluded that from my research I need
to have a successful house style throughout my
magazine. I can do this by using the same type
fonts, the same colour schemes, they same
images, and design elements to ensure that all
the pages I create look as if they are from the
same magazine. This will allow my magazine to
look life-like and professional.
