year old girl from the area, who entered the x factor back in 2012. Since then she has
gone on to have a number 1 and recently released an album despite only coming 6th

of years the local newspaper, also local radio broadcasters have been following her
progress along the way. The story was released on the 24th of November 2014, this is
recent news and would feature well in the news report.

Interviewing
Unfortunately, due to the fame of Ella Henderson we would be unable to interview her,
yet it would potentially be possible to interview a fan or a local member of the public to
find out their views on her success. If we were interviewing a member of the public, we
would ask if they were busy and if they would like to be involved in the production.
Finding a person who knows of the story is very important. Therefore, asking question
previously will help us determine if the persons is fit for interviewing. We would be
looking for somebody from the younger generation, as they would be more likely to
know of the individual and would open up to the younger generation
2. What representations exist in this story could they change due to who you interview
The Grimsby area is stereotyped as being a place involved in drugs and crime,
therefore a news story broadcasted about a person from said town could possible
change people’s views on the area. Creating more publicity and industries to grow due
to the stardom. Mediation would have been used during the story, mainly to do with the
selection process. Hundreds of stories are displayed each day, but due to the
personalisation behind the story this would be a main story. Yet during the organisation
not much would be changed due to it only being a local paper. Photo shopping pictures
etc… would be unnecessary as they want to present the story as being very realistic.
The headline is the main focus of the text as it explains how she is becoming an
international star this information antes the readers. If we were to interview a member of
the public they would demonstrate intentional views to the readers as they will read
what the person intended to say and what the editor intended. For a positive response
to the article.
Legal and Ethical Issues
Due to the news article being recorded the interview will also be recorded. When
interviewing a person they could display act of defamation of character, using slander
and libel statements which could offend some people. To reduce the risk of this
occurring we would need to clarify the language which should not be displayed during
the interview and to not discriminate on any level. Also as the individual may mention a
song by the singer this would breach copyright laws. Therefore, we would also need to
clarify with our guest how they cannot mention the work of Ella Henderson

This news story has a big impact on the local area as Skint was a Tv series based in

because it is unusual and is very local.

This represents Grimsby in a negative way as it is showing a rough side of Grimsby and
the majority of people would like to see this. If we were to interview someone from the
show we wouldn’t know how they would react and what they would say as our show
doesn’t have swearing in it but the people from the show wouldn’t know how to control
this.
Legal and Ethical Issues
Making sure legal and ethical rules are not broken is very important when creating a

just the good. People might not always want to hear the bad news but it has to be

interviewing a family member on the matter.
What representations exist in this story could they change due to who you interview?
I think if we had an opinion or a view from a family member it would change the nature
of the story because we might of found out more information on what actually caused
Peter Guy to turn angry and commit this crime. Was it just based on the argument or
was it something more.
Legal and Ethical Issues
7. This is a very private story and didn’t want to break any of the rules by going looking for
more information on the matter as that wouldn’t be respectful of the family involved and
Jonathan Smith who was the victim in all this.

We thought this was a humorous yet disgusting story and thought people needed to be
warned that there are people out there that would do this sort of thing to animals. Some
people might find this video funny and others might find it disgusting. It’s just preference
really but we thought it would give people something to think about to end the news.

If we was to interview the man who committed the crime it might of made more sense to
how he came across the idea to perform this act on the dog and what was going
through the mans mind. It might have appealed to the audience more, if they heard
what he had to say about what he did.
Legal and Ethical Issues
