Perfume advert.
The bright colours makes the advert stand out for readers who are flicking
through the magazine. The picture creates a relationship with the audience
due to Katy Perry looking forward. Her expression is enticing - male gaze.
Katy Perry is a well known artist so the model herself could attract an

9. Overview
After looking at a variety of adverts in regional magazines, I found that they are mostly trying to sell a
product, place or service. They are local to the region of the magazine and the main image normally
consists of the product itself or something connecting to the business. The product/place to normally shot
i high key lighting to make is more appealing to the eye. The item advertised is related to the target
audience of the magazine for example, some of the regional magazines I looked at focused on a lot of
furniture/interior design this could be aimed towards a middled aged/older audience. However the
regional magazines that feature a lot more fashion and that is more focused into the younger audiences
advertise more jewelry.
The brand name and what they are advertising is normally the biggest wording on the page to stand out
and bring brand recognition. The text is kept minimal to keep the main focus on the image and the thing
they are selling. However the text that is placed is normally small yet very informative eg where you can
purchase the product, websites and contact details.
Sell lines relate closely to the product and are kept short so the reader is more likely to read it, however
not every advert features a sell line.
The main of the product or what they are advertising is normally centre of the page and the text is placed
on the sides and doesn’t overlap or clash with the photo to make it as clear as possible for the readers
who are going through a magazine, it makes it more eye catching instead of a lot of text.
