12. Masthead: The typography is very
sophisticated and elegant. The logo is opaque
white which is contrasting with the baby pink
background. Even though the image is
overlapping the logo it is still very prominent
and is easily recognizable and this also shows
that the magazine is quite well known. It is big
and eye-catching because the name of the
magazine is the main selling point.
Main image :The main image is of a very
famous songwriter/ singer. She has recently
become the new style icon and began her
journey in fashion industry after opening up
her very own vintage boutique.
She has a “seductive” look on her face and as
she is young, white and well groomed, the
image follows winship's theory. She is directly
looking in the eye of the camera which shows
that she is addressing to the audience
directly. Her gesture is drawing attention to
her face and her wedding ring too as she is a
newly wed.
Her dress is very fashionable and
sophisticated and this can draw the attention
of the target audience.
Lilly Allen is also trying to attract the audience
towards her which can make women want to
be more like her.
Cover lines: All cover lines are no longer than
10 words each and use carefully selected
words to draw in the target audience.
“love…” this cover line draws the attention of
the audience and creates a conversational
tone, as if they are being talked to personally.

For the font they have used serif fonts all over
but they have used different sizes and
different colors like white and black.

because it is the biggest and the most
prominent one on the cover and is right in
front of the main image making it more
important. The “new mood” is quite
interesting and this can make the
audience’s want to read more of it.
‘Lily Allen, in pursuit oh happiness’ this cover line is
immediately grabbing because it is positioned at the top on
the left which is naturally where our eye would go. This can be
a selling point as the audience would want to know more
about lilly’s life and they would feel a connection between her
and them.
The cover line “the jumper….. Be quick” this is very clever of
them to put it here as women would want something cheaper
or affordable.
There is their websites name on the E of
Elle. This is a very good marketing scheme
as they have established themselves on
other media platforms too. This can make
the audience get impressed easily too.

magazine and this is very clever of them to
place it right here as again women want
cheap but good.
The date is there to inform the audience
about which issue is this of the magazine.
The price is small and is right underneath
the dateline. This is done so the audience
can think weather they want to buy it or

The target audience is from 18-35 age
and females. The purpose of this
magazine cover is to attract the female
audience and to make them buy it.

the magazine it is not that prominent as
it is only used in case of purchase.

little summary is given for them in form of phrases just for

be a selling point too as this can make the reader crave for

The look on the models face is very intense due to their eyes as her eye makeup are quite mild
too this is because she wants the audience to look directly at them. There is very less jewelry
and one of the model is wearing an off shoulder dress and as this is a mid shot they are
emphasizing more on their hairstyles.
15. This head line was placed on the left page of the double spread page. This line is creating an
effect on the audience as they have used words like “tempted” “irrespirable” , “professional”.
Such words are quite attractive as they portray a very stylish professional looking person.
As they have also said “for new years eve’s” this issue is somewhere near new years. And
females would be looking out to be different and unique for the eve so they would love to get
something like these hairstyles. And specially young girls would be attracted toward the model
ad they would want to be more like them. More like following their steps to look stylish and
“professional”.
16. This was a little article written on the top right corner of the page. It tells the audience about
the hairstyle the models are wearing and how can the audience do this hairstyle themselves.
L’Wren Scott is a very famous fashion designer and model himself. Recently before his death he
was a celebrity stylist too. This idea of “sexy version of vented curls” was his. And as his name is
mentioned in bold serif font it makes him important. In the end the have written about who the
models and other minor details about what brand they are wearing etc. this is one attraction as
females would want to be like them.
