2. Definition – A picture that captures the likeness and expression of a subject
PORTRAIT
With this image
I tried
capturing the
mood of the
subject by
taking the
photo with out
them really
realising, this
led to the
photo
capturing the
likeness of the
subject.

– I chose
this image
because I
thought that
is perfectly
captured the
subjects
expression
due to black
and white
tone of the
image
How has it changed over time?
Attitudes to portrait photography has
changed over time, and this, along with
technology, has allowed it to be a lot more
detailed, but it could be argued that the more
contemporary images do not capture the
expression of the subject as well as vintage
images do.

3. Definition – Captures the essence of
nature, but can also display man made
objects
LANDSCAPE
I tried capturing the
contrast between the
tree lin and the
skyline amd used the
rule of thirds to make
the sky the subject of
the image, it also
captures a wide aspect
of nature, which then
means it is a perfect
example of landscape
Chip Philips – This
photo was appealing
to me due to the
colours and the
reflection in the water
of the mountains and
sky, creating a contrast
to the original
subjects and the
naturalism in the
photograph.
Landscape images
have drastically
changed over time
as the colour, detail,
and accessibility to
take the photos has
advanced, allowing
for a lot more
vibrant photographs

4. Definition – Displays natural elements such
as Landscape, plants, wild life and close ups
of natural elements
NATURE
This photo was taken
with the intention of
grabbing a piece of
nature up close, this
allows you to see the
subject in great detail
without it being too out
of focus, and the light
of image is also perfect
as it gives the subject a
varying colour.
Alex Saberi This
image was the one I
chose due to the
autumn colours and
the natual poses of
the animals in the
picture. It also has a
great heat to the
image, showing that
the time of the year
is either summer or
autumn.
Nature images have also
drastically changed, and for
the same reasons as land
scape, the advancement of
technology allows us to
capture animal movement
at greater detail than we
used to.

5. Definition - A picture that is taken
with a creative vision by the
photographer
FINE ART
I decided that this
would be a good fine
art image because was
very simplistic, but
because I edited it, it
gave the image a
brighter look and
captured what I felt
was fine art.
Raphael Blasselle –
This is great example
of fine art as the
colour of the image
reflects the mood of
the subject and almost
certainly that of the
artist, therefore
capturing their creative
ideas
Fine has been mostly changed by
the advancement in technology,
this is because nowadays we can
edit two images together and
create a separate image, whilst
capturing the artists mood at the
same time.

6. Definition - A genre of photography devoted
to displaying clothes and other fashion items
FASHION
It made the
subject stand to
the ide to show
off the item of
clothing, being
the jacket, and
used editing to
enhance the
appearance of
the jacket.
Adam Alex – This
image was an ideal
one for fashion
because it shows the
subjecdt clearly
displaying the selling
item yet is edited to
make t feel like a
warm and comforting
image.
Fashion as well, has been
changed by technology, as now
we can change the exposure,
contrast and sharpness of an
image so that therefore the
model/clothing fits the mood
of what the designer is trying
to get across.

7. Definition - Any photography where
the photographer is paid for the
image or the subject in the image
ADVERTISING
This image was shot with
the intention of making
the product appear
bigger than it actually is.
This is a common
technique that advertisers
use, and one that is very
effective when selling or
advertising a product.
Charles Howells – Here is
an image of a watch that
has clearly been edited to
make the watch appear
luxurious, I chose this
because it is a god use of
advertising and it gives
the audience the
impression that the watch
is for the rich.
The change in attitude has affected
advertising photography, as we can
now edit and enhance a product
depending on what the audience
would be interested in, and we can
take different perspective shots to
change the initial appearance of the
product.

8. Definition - Used to chronicle both
significant and historical events
DOCUMENTARY
This documentary
photograph was taken
because I thoought it
captured an event in
which to subjects are the
main objects in the image
among the cars in the
image.
Oliver Duong – This
image was appealing to
me because it was very
striking and that is what
the main objective is
when it comes to
documentary
phtotography.
The change in attitude
and cultural acceptability
has meant that
documentary
photography is no longer
as striking and negative
as it used to be, however,
modern photography still
has a striking element to
it.
