7. This image was taken by the photographer Stephen Wilkes and the image is taken of a beach and fair
ground. The image is taken as a panoramic photograph and has been taken from high up from a birds
eye view. Interestingly, the photographer has used the technique of comparing the image from day to
night revealing the different amounts of light that is presented throughout the day in which creates
different feels to the photograph. In addition to this, the right side of the photograph represents the day
time and is a very bright surroundings, whereas as it gradually shifts towards the left side the sky gets
much darker however the fair ground is all lit up which may connote that at this beach resort the fun
will never end. Therefore, the photographer has used the technique of taking photographs throughout
the day and a selection of photos from hundreds taken were blended together to create a very
interesting picture comparing day life to the night life. Consequently, the reason for the photograph to
be taken was to see the difference and effect the transition between night and day would have. This
photograph connects with my work on the topic of ‘Time’ because the photograph has been taken
throughout the day at different times. In addition to this, this image is the perfect example of something
I am willing to do in my photography project on ‘time’.
8. This image is taken of a humans eye and then a clock that has been edited onto the photo being represented
as the actual eye. Therefore, the photographer has taken the photograph on a close up angle to get a clear
and visible image of the eye. Interestingly, the photographer has focused on the bottom left of the eyelashes
and also the main central part of the eye where the clock face has been edited on. Consequently, to focus on
the eye/ clock face even more the photographer has made everything in black and white, whereas the eye/
clock face is the only thing in colour ( golden, green and blue). As a result, to make the eye ‘pop’ even more
the photographer has edited the white part of the eye so it looks as though lightening bolts are coming out
of the clock, in which may represent the veins on the persons eye and how they have now been electrified/
brought to life. Furthermore, the reason the photograph has been taken may be that due to the clock being
represented as the eye it may connote how our time will finally run out and make the audience of the
photograph realise that time is precious and that every moment matters. On the other hand, it may also
refer to the famous saying that ‘the eyes are the windows to a persons soul’ which may illustrate to us why
the eyes are lit up and the persons veins are electrified. In addition to this, this photograph relates to the
topic of ‘time’ because a clock face has been edited onto the eye. Consequently, this image is the perfect
example of something I am willing to do in my photography project on ‘time’.
9. This image has been taken of a bubble being mid burst so that it looks like one half of the bubble has been
popped but the other hasn’t. The photographer has used high speed photography so that they could get
the exact precise moment where half the bubble was popped and the other was not. Also, the
photographer has set the picture in what looks like a garden, and in which complements the bubble
because it reflects the outdoors. Moreover, the photographer has used the effect of focusing on the bubble
by using it as the foreground and make the greenery blurry in the background in which puts more emphasis
onto the main part of the image. The overall lighting of the image is very bright, although the photographer
cleverly was able to catch the sunlight bouncing off of the bubble which helps reflect the outdoors even
more. In addition to this, I think the photographers purpose for taking the photograph was to see what a
bubble looks like mid burst as it is too fast for human eye sight. Interestingly, another reason for this
photograph being taken is to compare the difference between the bubble being burst and the bubble still
in its usual form. Initially, this photograph relates to the topic of ‘time’ due to the photographer taking
multiple shots and getting it at the right moment in time for it to be perfect. In addition to this, this image
has inspired me to do something along the same lines as this my using high speed photography for my
project.
10. This photograph is an image of the bright lights of vehicles going past on a busy road.
The photographer has focused on the light due to the fact that it takes up most of the
photograph. Initially, this means that the photographer wants to make the light the
main thing in the image. Interestingly, the photographer has took the photo so that on
the left side of the screen the light takes up the whole height of the screen, although
fades out and gets smaller as you get to the right side of the photograph. Also, at the
right hand side of the photograph the light comes together and becomes more
defined. furthermore, the photographer has used a slow shutter speed to make the
vehicles look as though they have gone past very fast in which only shows the lights off
of the cars which creates a nice effect. This image relates to the topic of ‘time’ because
in order for the image to be made the photographer has taken a variety of photos and
then merged them together to give that effect. Consequently, this image has inspired
me to do something along the same lines as this my using slow shutter speed
photography for my project.
11. This photograph is an image of a man with his umbrella standing in the middle of a road
surrounded by woodlands. The man in the image has been made the central part of the image in
which helps the audience relate with the photograph by wondering what he is looking at. In
addition to this, he is shown to be looking out into the distance where the greenery gets fainter
and fainter due to the fog that is restricting the audience from seeing what is beyond what they
can see. Therefore, this creates a sense of adventure and mystery for the purpose of the photo.
Initially, the photographer has used a long phot for this image to capture the whole of the mans
body and a wide variety of his surroundings which grippingly is all nature. Furthermore,
interestingly, the photographers lighting choice has started out dark and gets lighter towards the
man in which creates even more emphasis on what the man is looking at. As a result, I think the
photographers purpose of this image is to portray to the audience how important nature really is.
Additionally, this photograph relates to the topic of time because nature and greenery is always
growing in which for all of the woodland in the picture to have been formed into the structure
that it is means that is must have taken a long time. To conclude, this image has inspired me to do
something along the same lines as this by using long shot photography for my project.
