As a public child welfare social worker, our interest is the safety and well–being of a child. In this case, we are dealing with a 10 year old boy, named
Eddie who is allegedly a victim of child abuse. It is reported that Eddie is being mistreated by his father for receiving bad grades. Once a home visit
was conducted, the mother informed us that her husband is in fact physically abusing their son for receiving bad grades. Since, the father has an assault

Attachment disorder children never bond properly to their abusive caretakers, resulting in an inability to bond with anyone else later in life
(Crosson–Tower 58). Another sign was the fact that she would abuse the family pets whenever no one else was around. As a result of Jessica's

Overall, I was disgusted mostly by Nasaw's book in that it not only did it not properly discuss the effects these prejudiced attitudes had on other cultural

I would rank these issues in order of importance starting with Child Welfare Concerns, Lack of Quality Child Care, Lack of Parent Paid Leave, and
Lack of Developmental Screening. Ultimately, I believe, the welfare of a child should be put first if he or she is in danger of cracks in their

Child welfare is an issue that is vastly debated today in the United States. Regardless of party lines, socioeconomics, gender, religion, or race, it seems
like everyone has a stake in shaping this issue. As such, progression in policy can be difficult and is often controversial. Throughout the 1900s, the
United States Supreme Court heard and decided several cases that set forth precedent, giving more power to, and enabling, parents to raise their

(Brenden William Rensink, 2006). The adoptions and safe families act of 1997 is relevant as the tribe has adopted similar legislation that clarifies

The Social Security act benefited many people. Those who fell in this category were workers, victims of industrial accidents, unemployed insurance,
aid for dependent mothers and children, the blind, and the handicapped. This Social Security act was later signed into law, by current president at the

/caregivers or should it serve the needs of a broad range of disadvantaged children and their families?
Introduction
In 2012, there were 666,900 child abuse cases reported in the United States (Department of Health and Human Services, 2012). Of that number,
531,000 child abuse cases were for general neglect. Ten years ago in 2005, the number was much higher at over 900,000 reported child abuse cases.
Clearly, the welfare of children is a significant value shared by the majority of Americans. The reduction of reported child abuse cases is often
linked to significant federal and state laws enacted to further protect children from physical, sexual, emotional/mental harm and neglect (Lindsey,
2004). The bigger question that has historically and currently plagued the child welfare system is: who is responsible for protecting the children?
