Gifts Of Imperfection
I got up today trying to figure it out what to write on the journal, as I was thinking about it I look at
the book and then it hit me "imperfection" that is my key word. I took this word out of the book The
Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown because I believed that imperfection is the perfect world for
me. Even though I try to do everything perfect in my eyes nothing is good enough. I am one of those
person that cannot giver herself credit for nothing. One example is that I work as a cashier at the
Dollar General. Last week they offered me the opportunity to become a floor leader. I was in shock,
I thought why me if I am just a simple cashier. Well, my supervisor to me all the good things this
position came with it, but I was not putting

Imperfection In The Birthmark
In the piece "The Birthmark" it is impossible and foolish to try to reach perfection. Because we all
have been stamped with the imperfections of nature when Adam and Eve took a bite from the tree in
the garden of Eden..... It is impossible to reach perfection because even Almyer himself had
imperfections, as we later find out when Georgiana is in the laboratory reading his
accomplishments, as well as his downfalls. I don't believe Almyer wanted Georgiana to find the
book. Because he didn't want her to realize he was imperfect as well. But, the only one that is truly
perfect is God. In this piece Georgiana could have flipped the script on Almyer, and ask him about
his imperfections. But, she only wanted for Alymer to be happy and to gain his approval, which is
why it states "So deeply these reflections affect Georgiana that she laid her face upon the open ...

As well as the character, Georgiana. It states that "It was the sad confession and continual
exemplification of the shortcomings of the composite man, the spirit burdened with clay and
working matter, and of the despair that assails the higher nature at finding itself so miserably
thwarted by the earthly part." So, the chosen theme says to me that, we as a society strive for
perfection. Just as the girl in "Barbie Doll" was made to hate her big nose, and fat legs, Georgiana
was made to hate her birthmark. No matter how we, as a society strive for perfection. We will never
reach it until we go to Heaven... I take from this story, even if you don't please the people around
you, you shouldn't have to change yourself to be perfect, or die trying. Both girls in the "Barbie
Doll" as well as "The Birthmark" end up dying to finally get approval of their appearances. So, if I
have to die to be "perfect" or to gain approval. Then, I guess approval and acceptance are something
I just won't

The Gifts Of Imperfection Analysis
"The Gifts of Imperfection"
Brené Brown is the author of "The Gifts of Imperfection". Brené wrote the book to show what she
learned from different people thought and to make people aware of choices lead to
wholeheartedness. In the introduction, Brown states that wholehearted living is a process, not a one
time choice. The key to the key imperfection is cultivated, courage, compassion and connection.
Nobody in this world is perfect. This book teaches you that what we are all humans that are
imperfect and vulnerable. "Let go of who you think you're supposed to be and embrace who you
are."(cover of the book) First of all, courage is one of the keys to wholehearted living. According to
Brown the definition of courage has been changed over the past years. In today's society most
people refer courage to a hero. According to brown, courage originally meant "To speak one's mind
by telling all one's heart. It is important to recognized courage in our lives. As ... Show more content

We all have some type of gifts and talents. Brown, states that self–doubt and "suppose to" does not
allow us to find our gifts and talents; therefore, we do not shear them with others. We tend to live
our day to day life based on what we are expected to do by other people. Everyone is unique in their
own way or fashion. As humans we need to do what we think is correct, and not what other people
expect from us. This could worsen our health because this could lead to stress, and anxiety. Over all,
nobody is perfect. We need to learn how to view imperfection as a positive thing. It is important to
keep in mind that the key to imperfection is cultivated, courage, compassion and connection.
Wholehearted is a process. I plan to practice the process of Wholehearted. As, I was reading the
book I could relate to several examples that Brown gave. "Owning our story and loving ourselves
through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do." (Page

Racial Imperfection
As imperfect humans, we all have something in common. Imperfections. There are many flaws that
we have, and they can often have a negative impact on ourselves and other people. One imperfection
that is a big problem today is a form of prejudice called racism. Racism is a belief that race is the
primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent
superiority of a particular race. It seems like as time goes on, the meaning of racism gets more
complex. So what does racism mean in this day and age? Discrimination based on a certain cultural
background has been around almost as long as the world has been around. Nobody is born with a
racial prejudice, it is something that is taught. It could be taught ... Show more content on

Individual racism happens on a more personal level. One type of individual racism is just a racial
bias. A racial bias is when you form an opinion on someone strictly based off of their race. The scary
thing about this is that this can happen consciously or subconsciously. When it happens
subconsciously, people do not think that they are being racist. It is like talking to a brick wall when
one tries to confront them on the issue. Another stage is discrimination. This can happen on a
cultural level or just because someone hates a certain race. When it is cultural, one may discriminate
against others because they think their race is the superior race, but discrimination can still happen
just because one may purely hate a certain race for different reasons. Another type of individual
racism is same race racism. Same race racism is pretty self–explanatory. Some people hate on
people that are the same race as them due to the fact that they do not like how they act, they don't
like how they look, and many other reasons. Institutional racism is pretty much the same thing as
individual racism, just on a bigger scale. Institutional racism is Racial discrimination that is looked
at as normal behavior within a society. Popular examples of institutional racism include Nazi
Germany, Jim Crow, and Apartheid in South Africa. Institutional racism affects a whole group of
people. A powerful quote by sociologist, professor,

A Letter to My Sister
I wrote this during my time in higher education. I know things will change by the time you're in
college, especially since there's a fourteen–year age difference. Although many things will change, I
know some things will remain the same for the both of us. Like me, you're a people pleaser. You
want to do what will help others like you. You hurt deeply when someone has done something
wrong and tend to place blame on yourself. You ask so many questions. You have compassion and
feel for others– this grows from our family roots. So much of me I see in you and you're only nine
years old. So, my intelligent and loving little sister, here is some advice for your new adult life.
1. Remember all of the endless questions you used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Comparison will steal your joy. Right now, I see many traits in you that I see in myself.
Perfectionism is something I see in both of us. I used to think these traits could be a great tool when
you work, but then I read The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown and she stated, "Perfectionism
is self–destructive simply because there is no such thing as perfect. Perfection is an unattainable
goal" (pg. 57). Bug–a–boo, I know this isn't something that you want to hear, but she is right. There
is no such thing as being perfect. As I see you struggle as a nine–year–old to perfectly read that
chapter book or make all of the kids like you at school, I just want to hug you and tell you that you
are and always have been enough. I once heard in a song, "You'll always measure up if you compare
yourself to you". You are the only person you need to focus on. I don't mean the ideal "perfect
daughter, sister, friend, student" portrait you try to paint yourself to be. I'm talking about the
beautiful girl who loves to dance down the hallway, the girl who leaves her school work scattered
around the house, the girl who struggles, the girl who is human. Additionally, keep in mind,
comparing yourself to others robs you of the potential YOU were given. And trust me, that potential

The Birthmark Imperfection
In my adaptation paper, I decided to rewrite the short story, "The Birth–Mark" by Nathaniel
Hawthorne, because I wanted to show how one imperfection can change everything in someone's
life. How could one birthmark drive someone to death? The idea of imperfection should not exist in
an ideal perfect world, and never understanding someone's ideas and words can damage a beautiful
soul and mentality. The author, Nathaniel Hawthorne used his short story to show how a husband's
approval and beauty ideas were more important than showing his wife true acceptance of every
beauty flaw. The only option in the husband's eyes was the removal of the Crimson Hand birthmark,
or as Aylmer sees the birthmark as "hideous" (Hawthorne, 419). Even though, the result ... Show

Many people saw the birthmark as a symbol dealing with religion or the meaning of the birthmark
was way deeper actually understanding why Hawthorne used the birthmark. Today, the birthmark
would be a beauty statement, and how beauty's standards do change within time. Someone's
birthmark could change the standards, but who would be the one to step out of the darkness to make
a powerful statement with the possibility of getting judged throughout the process. There would be
too many people afraid of getting judged for imperfection to stand up for something positive
because how the society believes what true beauty should be. In an article, The Fatal Hand: A Sign
of Confusion in Hawthorne's the Birth–Mark by Steve Youra, helped explain how obsessed Aylmer
got about finding out more about the birthmark, and how Georgiana saw herself with the birthmark.
Aylmer cared more about the idea of perfection, but he fully did not understand perfection on exists
in Heaven, not Earth. Youra saw Aylmer's obsession as a distraction from his failures in life, and he
commented, "Noting down every detail in his experimental log (A heightened flush of the cheek– a
slight irregularity of breath– a breath– a quiver of the eyelid– a hardly perceptible tremor through
frame), he ignores the significance of these observation, even as he

equipment in order for the machine to continue to produce equipment. The similar situation is
occurring as God left his "machine" to do his work and has no need to change anything that it is
producing.
McCloskey further argued the presence of imperfection and evil in the world argues against divine
design or divine purpose. While the cosmological argument has limitations regarding his argument
as mentioned prior, he does seem to contradict himself when he says, "the first cause must be
explained as an uncaused cause, otherwise we are left with an infinite regress of causes" (51). This

Imperfection Flaws
Many people view vulnerability as a sign of weakness, while not entirely wrong this imperfection
shows how we can improve. Often people will grow after making mistakes that they can use as a
base to learn from. When accepting these faults many will be able to advance in ways to improve
themselves. In today's society many value the trait that is perfection in order to get farther in life and
increase self–worth. Ironically, the acceptance of that fact that no one is perfect has more benefits
that result in personal growth. By our very nature people have flaws that cannot be perfectly
corrected so we tend to sweep these imperfections under the rug and hide it. Rather than hiding
these imperfections we should be embracing them. By acknowledging

The Gifts Of Imperfection By Esperanza
To fit into the social standards, tremendous amount of people change themselves. It's a
psychological feeling to want to belong, so altars are made to the appearance and personalities. Why
is it that outrageous actions are made, so that an individual can be considered "normal", by society's
beliefs? The natural man seeks acceptance within a community and sometimes by wanting approval,
dignity and self actualization of an individual counterfeits who they really are. According to Brené
Brown, from the book "The Gifts of Imperfection", "we often try to acquire [belonging] by fitting in
and by seeking approval, which are not only hollow substitutes for belonging, but often barriers to
it." In the world, many people want to feel included so fitting ... Show more content on

For example, Esperanza and her friends wanted to be recognized, so when they put high heels on
they felt great joy about looking like a grown up, exclaiming happily, "Hurray! Today we are
Cinderella because our feet fit exactly" (Cisneros 40). Esperanza's desire to have a sense of
belonging impelled her to take drastic actions even though the attention came from greedy and
aggressive men. Through yearning for want she could not have, such as money or a new name,
Esperanza then identified that she would rather be herself and escape in her own way, instead of
being in a manipulative relationship. After experiencing many hardships in her life, Esperanza
realized by being true to herself, opportunities are more feasible, conveying, "I have gone away to
come back. For the one's I left behind. For the one's who cannot [get] out" (110). By going through
adversity, Esperanza's potential broadened because of the talent that she has in writing and her future
became palpable. She is able to acknowledge that her capability of writing will help her leave
Mango Street and come back to help those that can't help them–self. The significance of being an
original person, helped Esperanza discover her self–worth and create her own path, instead of
changing her individuality to have a false sense of fitting in a population.

Imperfection In Jane Eyre
Happily ever after. Too often in novels and fables conclude with forced, fantastical endings designed
to match ideal scenarios. In doing so, authors compromise their work's themes as realistic lessons
give way to improbable outcomes. However, in Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre, imperfection is
embraced in the titular protagonist's relationship with Mr. Rochester, offering a worthy commentary
on romance through a woman's viewpoint. Erica Jong's introduction to the novel analyzes Jane
Eyre's significance on women's empowerment in the context of love. Nevertheless, Jong's assertion
regarding male arrogance, female independence, and affection requires qualification. Rather,
removing male arrogance and fostering female independence in the minds of both individuals are
the keys to lasting love between the sexes. The perception of arrogance in a romantic relationship
prevents either side from reaching lasting love. With men are inherently entitled in a patriarchal
society, removing the aura of superiority is a prerequisite for any authentic connection. A
relationship plagued by entitlement is shown by "The Yellow Wallpaper", as the narrator's husband
consistently patronizes his wife when addressing her treatment and illness. However, his
condescension only ensures the demise of the narrator instead of relieving her suffering. As the
narrator realizes her husband's ignorance, she becomes increasingly unstable under his oppression,
ultimately convincing herself that she is the shackled woman in the yellow wallpaper. In contrast,
the 2005 film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice exhibits a relationship in which initial arrogance is
washed away. At the dance, Darcy can be heard saying that Lizzie is not beautiful enough to "tempt
him", characterizing him as a member of the gentry looking down upon the common folk. However,
as he professes his love in the pouring rain, Darcy's overconfidence as he acknowledges her inferior
status leads Lizzie to reject him. Lizzie's resolute defiance in the face of Darcy's display of
arrogance effectively humbles him and allows her to equalize the power in their relationship. As
Lizzie begins to fall in love with Darcy, their perceptions of each other as equals drive their
happiness even

Examples Of Imperfection
Imperfection is not the opposite of perfection, as if it is a state not to be desired. Instead,
imperfection is the state of acceptance of self through love. Without seeing who you truly are, you
won't know what to change and what to keep. Perfectionism just throws everything out the window.
Here are five ways to truly be free by letting yourself live as you are.
"I am Me"
"Accept me as I am" is a battle cry. It doesn't mean that you won't change detrimental habits because
you are embracing who you are. It also doesn't mean that you are promoting laziness or lack of
ambition. What it does mean is that you have taken a look inside of yourself and seen who the
person inside truly is. There are things that you like about yourself and also things that you don't, but
it all works together to become the person that you are today.
True change in your life is an act of love. You can lose weight when you love who you are right now
at your current ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Imperfection says that the only way through is with love on board. Accepting and embracing you by
celebrating why you are unique. It is getting reacquainted with yourself through a few steps that
show the value that was there all along.
5 Ways to Imperfect Freedom
Take some serious time for introspection – Don't be afraid to look at yourself honestly. Write down
what is positive and what is negative in your eyes. Find ways to change the wording of those
negatives so they are now positives that you can embrace. If you think that your ankles are big, find
shoes to wear that minimize their appearance as such.
Discover what you like to do and don't like to do – Don't be afraid to say "no" to events or activities
that don't foster your interests just because it's a "cool" or "acceptable" thing to do.
Try something new – Try bold colors for clothing or change your hairstyle. There's nothing wrong
with experimenting with new looks to accentuate your positives and give yourself a confidence

Summary Of Imperfection By Sara Baume
Spill 1. What is the purpose of Sara Baume's repetition of the word "running?" What can it
symbolize in this landscape? Explain and provide evidence. One eye is running where there is no
chance for sniff and scavenge and scoff (Baume vii). There are no steel bars to end his lap, no chain
to jerk at the limit of its extension, no bellowing to trick and bully him back (Baume vii). To sum up,
it's all about freedom. 2. What choices have been made, so far, in the book? Be specific. Ray
chooses One Eye instead of other dogs which is better than him. He chooses One Eye as he sees

The Work In Potential Of Imperfections By Melissa Cunningham
Introduction The discreet, intimate object of the ceramic tea bowl, by itself, is an empty vessel ready
to be filled. Metaphorically speaking, this is similar to the human experience – our lives begin as
empty vessels, and as we encounter each experience in our lives, our "vessels" become filled with
who we are and who we will become. The tea bowls in Potential of Imperfections trace beautiful
imperfections, frozen moments, and fragmented experiences. These experiences are direct
references to trauma, decay, and disease and are connections between fragility, imperfection,
intimacy, and the body manifested into palpable, corporeal form. Using the common, yet intimate
object of the ceramic tea bowl as a stand–in for the body, traces of beautiful imperfections such as
the distortion through firing, frozen moments as seen in the throwing marks, and fragmented
experiences such as the cracks that have been repaired are revealed. How does displaying a large
collection of tea bowls differ from using just one? Does this evoke a sense of community or the
diversity of experience? The work in Potential of Imperfections by Melissa Cunningham begs to
answer these questions through connections to history, present forms in the processes, and
contemporary art and thought surrounding this installation as well as her body of work. ... Show

Salinger 's The Gifts Of Imperfection
Brené Brown, esteemed author of The Gifts of Imperfection, has previously expressed,
"Authenticity is the choice to let our true selves be seen." In other words, Brown depicts how the
desire of conveying how one feels determines their authenticity, or "true self". In J.D. Salinger's
fiction novel Catcher in the Rye, Salinger illustrates the double–edged effects of Holden's beliefs on
authenticity by his usage of the word, "phony". The novel is narrated by a young adolescent named
Holden Caulfield who becomes guilty of expulsion from school and embarks on a journey through
New York City. There, he meets many unique people, a majority to which he assumes as phonies,
immediately questioning their authenticity. His character development is depicted by utilizing the
effects on Holden from the word "phony" and the interaction of phony people, or "phonies".
Throughout Catcher in the Rye, Holden's perspective on the world and adults being phonies slowly
changes from the many forms of life he has been exposed to. In the beginning of the book, Holden
introduces us and defines the word, "phony". Holden appears to classify someone as a phony by
how they act in public toward their peers and superiors. As Holden brings up the topic of Pencey
Prep while introducing himself, he significantly mentions a girl named Selma Turner, the
headmaster of Pencey Prep's daughter. Although little is mentioned about her, he brings up what he
liked about her by appraising, "She didn't give you a lot of

Theme Of Imperfection In The Scarlet Letter
The Scarlet Letter
Nathaniel Hawthorne was an American author that lived in the 1800's. Hawthorne was also part of
the anti transcendentalism movement. Do to the fact that his great uncle was John Hathorne,
Hawthorne became somewhat obsessed with the Puritan time of the 1600's. This was a time period
in which as his books are written in, including his most famous The Scarlet Letter. In The Scarlet
Letter Hawthorne uses the symbolism of Pearl, Hester's Cabin, and Dimmesdale to contribute to the
overall theme of imperfection.
To begin, Hawthorne uses Pearl to contribute to the overall theme of imperfection. Pearl is the
beautiful daughter of Hester the main character, and Dimmesdale a minister. Even though Pearl is
beautiful she was born in prison as a child of adultery. As regular child would commonly be pure,
for they had just come from the hands of God, Pearl was more wicked as if she had been presented
by the devil to the hands of her mother because of her adultery. Hawthorne says, "God, as a direct
consequence of sin... had given her a lovely child..." (Hawthorne 81). This quote explains that Pearl
is a beautiful treasure that came from her mother's sinful act of adultery so she is imperfect. This is
just like how beautiful pearl that is made from the grinding together of sand inside of a dirty clam is
imperfect. As the story goes on it begins to talk about how Pearl is the living form of the A. Hester
says," She is my happiness!– She is my torture, none the less!"

Scarlet Letter Imperfection
Scarlet Letter is a novel written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. It is set during the 1600's in a puritan town
in New England. The novel is based around a woman, her husband, her lover, and her daughter born
from adultery.Hester, the main protagonist, committed adultery with a man in New England and,
while she was in prison, gave birth to a child. In his novel The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne
uses the symbolism of the Wild Rose–Bush, Pearl, and the Forest and Sunlight to contribute to the
overall theme of imperfection. To begin, Hawthorne uses the Wild Rose–Bush to contribute to the
overall theme of imperfection in many ways. One such way is that a rose is a beautiful flower but it
has thorns that can prick you. Hawthorne metaphorically picks a rose for the reader to have as a
symbol for the duration of the book. Hawthorne also explains, "Which might be imagined to offer
their fragrance and fragile beauty to the prisoner as he went in, and to the condemned criminal as he
came forth to his doom, in token that the deep heart of Nature could pity and be kind to him"
(Hawthorne 46). During this explanation of the town he briefly explains how the rose might have
been seen. At this point, a thing of beauty is being seen as a hopeful object, and the criminals receive
that last breath of hope before their punishment, just as a rose's thorn might prick you as you grab
for one. Later Hawthorne states, "This rose–bush, by a strange chance, has been kept alive in

Imperfection In 'The Birthmark' By Nathaniel Hawthorne
Nathaniel Hawthorne "The Birthmark" is a shorty story that shows how the natural imperfections of
one can cause a judgement in how a person views themselves, by letting in to what society has to
say. Hawthorne uses the three–main character to show how the different views on one person can
change how you see them. Aylmer is a highly skilled scientist who tries to fix the so called natural
mistake of his beautiful wife. Aylmer wife Georgiana sees herself as beautiful although she was
gifted with this handprint shaped birthmark on her face until her husband starts seeing her as
imperfect. Aminadab is Aylmer laboratory assistant who only see's the worlds views and not the
spiritual views or the views of nature as Aylmer see's. Aylmer was said to be in the story "a man of
science, an eminent proficient in every branch of natural philosophy", he was very good at what he
did. Aylmer married at women named Georgina who was perfect although a birthmark on her cheek
who Aylmer just couldn't get over it being a imperfection by natural that he just needed to remove.
Aylmer science started to take over by coming with an experiment that would remove that birthmark

Theme Of Imperfection In The Scarlet Letter
Nathaniel Hawthorne's novel, The Scarlet Letter, takes place in a 17th century, puritan, New
England town. Hawthorne did not see the people and the world as good, also known as an Anti
Transcendentalist. Which is you only believe in bad and don't think the world and people have good
in the only evil. In this novel, Nathaniel Hawthorne uses the symbolism of The Wild Rosebush,
Pearl, and Dimmesdale to contribute to the overall theme of imperfection.
To begin, Hawthorne uses The Wild Rosebush to contribute to the theme of imperfection. The Wild
Rosebush symbolizes that everything has good and bad traits, similar to the characteristics of a rose.
The flower of the rose is good, and the thorns are bad. This connects to the theme of imperfection in
the book. Hawthorne explains, " ... To symbolize some sweet moral blossom, that may be found
along the track, or relieve the darkening close of a tale of human frailty and sorrow." (Hawthorne
46). This quote implies that the book is about things that are tragic and evil, but also will learn
something beautiful, and has the similar qualities of a rose. The flower is wonderful and the thorns
are dreadful and agonizing. And that has the in the characteristics of imperfection and goes along the
line of the imperfect people in the story. In the book, Hester committed a sin which was adultery and
had the baby Pearl, she is considered a sin baby. Later in the book, Hawthorne explains, " ... Had

Scarlet Letter Imperfection
Imperfection Nathaniel Hawthorne is an Anti–transcendentalist and writes in the time period of
1600s in New England, during puritanism in his novel, The Scarlet Letter. In his novel, The Scarlet
Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne uses the symbolism of the Wild Rose–bush, Pearl, and the Forest and
Sunlight to contribute to the overall theme of imperfection. The Wild Rose–bush means there is a
wild, dark and beautiful side to everyone and everything. Pearl shows that although you were born
into darkness, it doesn't mean that you can't be good or pure. The Forest and Sunlight shows that
you can be evil or do bad and be wild, and still have goodness and purity in you. Hester is Pearl's
mother who committed adultery with Pearl's father, Dimmesdale, while married to his best friend
and doctor, Chillingworth. Dimmesdale is Pearl's father and a minister/Priester. To begin,
Hawthorne uses the Wild Rose–bush to contribute to the theme of good and evil. The rose on the
rose–bush stands for good and beauty, the thorns stand for evil, darkness, and pain. The wildness of
the rose–bush represents the wildness that is inside of everyone. Hawthorne explains, "...to
symbolize some sweet moral blossom...or relieve the darkening close of a tale of human frailty and
sorrow" (Hawthorne 46). This quote shows that a Wild Rose–bush is beautiful, but with the beauty,
there are thorns, which are dark and painful, just like Hester. As the book continues, the Wild Rose–
bush sits right outside of the prison,

Imperfection In Religion
The church's imperfection does not deter us from our need for it. I have learned that the church is a
vital aspect of salvation, even though the church is imperfect. In order for individuals to understand
what salvation is they must also understand that it is more than a prayer. This is the concept that
many people believe it is, which consists of only stating a prayer. Salvation is wholeness of a
person, which can only be done through God. The church has a tough role in regard to Salvation.
Many people stir away from churches because they believe the people in them are imperfect and
they expect perfection because God is perfect. The difficulty with that is that the people are
imperfect and none will ever be perfect. The church is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The terminology used in this scripture can lead you to believe that it is only about marriage, but
marriage is not the focus here. God uses this scripture to show emphasis on the relationship between
Christ and the church. God is showing the body of Christ as the church in this scripture. God is
using the description of husband and wife to show Christ's attitude about the church. A husband is
used as a verb and not a noun. The husband is the care taker of the church and is meant to tend to it.
Christ love for the church was the most sacrifical love in that he died for it. Christ's role in regard to
the church was to protect and covered it. The necessity of the church is shown through this scripture
even as it relates to the Lord's sacraments. We are not able to baptize ourselves or serve ourselves
the Lord's Supper. These are elements that must be done through the church's distribution. We are
also able to see Christ and the church are one flesh through this scripture. Paul doesn't make any
distinctions between the church and Christ. We learn that amazing things can happen through the
church and that the revelation of God is given through the Church when God reveals his

Examples Of Mayella Ewell Imperfection
Gang 7th ELAApril, 26. 2016 "Compassion isn't some kind of self–improvement, project or idea
that we're trying to live up to, having compassion starts and ends with having compassion for all
those unwanted parts of ourselves, all those imperfections that we don't even want to look at". This
quote demonstrates an idea that we need to have compassion for imperfections of our society or
ourselves even though they are unwanted and undesirable. We need compassion for everything, not
only what we want. In the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, there is a character named Mayella Ewell,
who entraps other character named Tom Robinson and eventually leads him to death. She seems as
an unforgivable and vicious character, however, we need to show compassion to her because she is
same as us, but she just doesn't have the environment where you can develop the ethical values. In
this following essay, I will demonstrate why Mayella Ewell deserves compassion in spite of her
misconducts. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, she goes to the court then lies that Tom Robinson took an advantage from her to
protect herself from embarrassment despite that they were inappropriate relations and they knew
each other. Shirking one's responsibility and blame other person for it is a very irresponsible and
shameful thing to do. True embarrassment comes from when you hide the truth, not when you speak
the truth to people. In addition, after the trial, she doesn't have any courage to say her wrongdoing
with Tom Robinson to save him from his death penalty. Mayella Ewell is nefarious and selfish in the
point that she does not save life when she have the chance to as saving life is foremost thing to do as
life is most valuable object. Embarrassment is not reasonable for not saving a life when you could, a
life that worths the same value as

The Imperfection Of Humans
When we look forward and anticipate the future through the means of science fiction, it seems that
contributing largely to our contemporary definition of "human" is our imperfections. The very fact
that we posses these imperfections is the reason that writers imagine a future where those
imperfections may be eliminated; knowing that there is room for improvement drives human
curiosity and ingenuity forward. So now we imagine a future where humans are perfect, ageless,
precise. Would these things really still be human or closer to real life cyborgs? Maybe this question
is too ethical, lacking in empirical evidence to give a non–angled answer. But for myself, what
makes a human different from a machine is that we are not built off of automatic judgments, we are
not ageless, and we all carry collective, as well as our own individual imperfections. For it is these
imperfections that remind us that we were not constructed in factories, but are rather shaped by our
biology and given environments. As humans, we do in fact posses many automatic functions, many
of which are linked to the autonomic nervous system which controls and regulates bodily functions
such as our heartbeats, blood circulation, and breathing patterns. As Descartes puts it, "Our own
bodies can move without the guidance of volition." So in this sense, the human body has a
mechanical side to it, but when it comes to our reasoning of the world, being creative, and solving
problems, these are functions that are not

Imperfection In Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Birthmark
Imperfection Nathaniel Hawthorne's short story The Birthmark shows the irrationality of
undertaking the ability to create a flawless and perfect individual. Hawthorne conveys the story
through the scientist Aylmer and his beautiful wife, Georgiana, who has tiny, red tinted, hand shaped
birthmark on her left cheek. Many others admired the fairy size hand print, yet once Aylmer became
her husband, he saw the mark as a flaw in perfection of her beauty. Aylmer has an obsession with
removing the birthmark that keeps his wife from being what he sees as perfect, and he is determined
to remove the hideous mark with his science; not knowing the birthmark was attached to her heart.
Throughout the short story, Hawthorne uses symbols to illustrate the selfishness of man and the
barriers between life on Earth and eternal life in Heaven. In the short story, Hawthorne uses
symbolism to emphasize the strange shape of his wife's "earthly imperfection" (630) and his
desperate need to have the stain of imperfection gone. There is a ... Show more content on

falls asleep. As times passes, the mark on her cheek begins to fade. Aylmer's assistant Aminadab,

awakens Georgiana, who murmurs that she is in fact dying. The imperfection on her face was a
direct connection to her heart and life, and its removal caused her demise. Aminadab laughs in
excitement of success of the experiment, though he does not understand it; and laughs again when

Report on The Gifts of Imperfections: Let go of who you're supposed to be and embrace who you
are
"If we want to fully experience love and belonging, we must believe that we are worthy of love and
belonging." (Brown). Many of the women today only think of themselves as someone's daughter,
someone's wife, or someone's mother. Who are we really? Albert Schweitzer once said "Success is
not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will
be successful." This is a key to this book and how you can succeed and life. There are some
wonderful lessons that I took away from this book that I think applies very well to today's women

She realized that all women are successful, deserve love, and belong. As ladies, most of us work
over time or even two jobs to attempt and be all things to all people. We work, go to school, take
care of our homes, and work to be the foundation of our families. We aspire to be amazing moms,
loving and faithful wives, and leaders of the workforce. We are taught from a young age that we are
not good enough. That we have to be a certain size, and have to put our husbands needs before ours.
We have to cook and clean. We have to spend time with our husbands and our families and still
make a living and provide for them. We have to do certain things to be a good mom, or follow
certain rules to raise good children. We are told that we have to make a certain salary or wear a skirt
and heels every day to be successful in the workplace. In the event that we can boldly be helpless
and make mistakes, stand up and be who we are at this moment, we can have the most fulfilled life
even though we are not all that today's world says we have to

Hither and thither, the waves on the Mississippi go. Hither and thither, waves of imperfection come

flawed characters living a pothole–riddled life. We are introduced to Nick and Amy, a seemingly
ordinary couple whose lives were drastically altered following Amy's disappearance. And as the
wave of time passes by, the tide unravels more and more of the ugly truths hidden underneath. As
people say, the irony of imperfection is that it attracts attention and makes things interesting, this is
also true of Nick and Amy's story. An examination of their individual imperfections would shed light
on how they bring out the irony in their imperfections.

Imperfection In The Birthmark By Nathanial Hawthorne

society's imperfections and how people want to control them, drives him to go as far as risking his

God Is The Perfect Imperfection
God, by definition, is the Supreme Being. Yet, even by means of definition, the completeness and
mere concept of a god could not be managed or captured and could not be contained by the mere
usage of words. Perhaps, in the human sense, a god is the epitome of perfection, quickly the
opposite of anything faulty that we human beings can conceive. God must be the perfected
imperfection. There is a sense that we all originated from God, that God has created us human
beings. It is a typical notion that what has come out of something must be similar to that something.
People have somehow derived to this equation, and that as we have all come from God, we must be,
as close as possible to what a God is, perfect beings. However, apparently we are imperfect beings
of problems and sinfulness. Despite the perfection that God possesses and can provide for His own
creation, this must be the only thing He must have failed to perfect. But, yet, this imperfection must
be deduced to be intentional in nature, as no god, who is made of perfection, can create an
imperfection as that would make him no god. Thus, this imperfection human beings possess must
have a reason, a reason that nature has brought upon humanity, which no other forces can intervene

Imperfection In The Scarlet Letter
Nathaniel Hawthorne was a writer in the 1800s, an anti–transcendentalist, and the great–nephew of
John Hathorne, a judge in the Salem Witch Trials. Hawthorne is obsessed with Puritanism and, due
to being obsessed, bases all his writings on Puritan towns. All of his stories take place in New
England in the 1600s, before the Salem Witch Trials; The Scarlet Letter is one of these stories. In his
novel, The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne uses the symbolism of the Wild Rosebush, Hester's
Cabin, and the sunlight and the forest to contribute to the overall theme of imperfection.
To begin, Hawthorne uses the Wild Rosebush to contribute to the overall theme of imperfection. The

Hawthorne describes Pearl's response by saying,"Pearl knew well enough who made her ... closed
her lips, or impelled her to speak words amiss ... finally announced that she had not been made at
all, but had been plucked by her mother off the bush of wild roses that grew by the prison door"
(Hawthorne 102). In the quote Pearl, despite her innocence, does wrong by blaspheming. The quote
shows how she is something beautiful coming out of the dark. Both of these quotes and the symbol
of the Wild Rosebush show how good and evil max together, to make everything imperfect.
Furthermore, Hawthorne uses Hester's Cabin to add to the theme of imperfection. Hester's Cabin
represents Hester. It symbolizes how she is on the line between good and evil and society and nature
with the physical placement of Hester's Cabin being on the edge between the town and the forest.
Hawthorne uses Hester's Cabin to show the reader Hester's state of mind. He describes the Cabin's
location when he says,"On the outskirts of the town ... was a small thatched cottage ... on the shore
... A clump of scrubby trees"(Hawthorne 74). By being on the outskirts of town Hester's Cabin
shows how disconnected Hester is from society. In describing the Cabin as partially hidden by trees,
Hawthorne show how close Hester is to evil. Hawthorne displays exactly what mental place Hester
is in after leaving the prison. Hester is still good and part of the town, but is surrounded by evil.

The Imperfection Of The Greek Parthenon
The Athenian Greeks at the height of their power built a temple called the Parthenon which was a
monument to their core values of perfectionism, humanism, and rationalism. It is important to
understand that the human eye has imperfections which deceive the mind, so one can understand the
unique steps that were taken to achieve the illusion of perfection to the human eye. The Greeks
loved perfection, and as seen in the Parthenon, the Greek architects purposely made the Parthenon
imperfect to account for the imperfections in the human eye. This was done so that when one views
the Parthenon with the naked eye, it appears to be perfectly symmetrical, straight, and proportional.
The entire Parthenon does not have a single right angle. An example of the Greeks compensating for
the imperfections of the human eye is seen in the base of the Parthenon, which from a picture or in
real life looks perfectly straight, but in reality it is actually curved slightly upward. It is curved
because the Greeks knew that if you have a perfectly flat base for a building, it appears curved to the
human eye. To account for that, the Greeks made it so that the base was already curved. The Greeks
also curved the columns of the Parthenon inward, because if the columns were straight, it would
appear to be curving outward. Again, the Greeks knew about how the human eye deceives the mind,
and decided that they must trick the eye to please the mind. This was all done because the Greeks
strived for

topics that came to my mind when I went through this story include: How is imperfection presented
in Nathaniel's story? Throughout the story, Nathaniel shows a lot of concern on the imperfection he
noted on his wife's cheek. He was dissatisfied with it and could not understand why it was placed on

Examples Of Imperfections In Hamlet
Hamlet is one of the best–known plays by Shakespeare, but what embodies the main character,
Hamlet, to be a tragic hero? This fictional character has many imperfections since the
commencement of the play and leads to his unfortunate demise along with others who are adjacent
to him. One of the imperfections is taking action, while the other imperfection is by acting instantly
rather than celebrating exhaustively for a plausible plan. Hamlet's involution in events has been the
catalyst of many suicides, including his own as he enacts his revenge for his biological father
throughout the play. Over the scenes of the play, Hamlet would gradually notice his impuissance of

Imperfection Through Perfection
Perfection through Imperfection There is a difference between being open–minded and the
willingness to accept those around them, versus drawing a line between people and separating each
one from one another and judging them individually for their flaws. People are not perfect, it is clear
to the world. Yet, many still idolize the theory or idea as of what a god is and how he wishes man to
live out their life, as a perfect specimen, which in turn leads to the judgement on their own mirror
representation and those around them. The problem with people trying to act god–like comes down
to the fact that they let their emotions cloud their judgement and results in a more reckless behavior.
There are many people that try so hard to make every single ... Show more content on

Most of people's judgments are what form these beliefs on those around them and what they wish to
change about themselves. Rather than accepting the flaws in which they see, they try to perfect it.
"The modern masters promise very little; they know that metals cannot be transmuted and that the
elixir of life is a chimera but these philosophers, whose hands seem only made to dabble in dirt, and
their eyes to pore over the microscope or crucible, have indeed performed miracles. They penetrate
into the recesses of nature and show how she works in her hiding–places. They ascend into the
heavens; they have discovered how the blood circulates, and the nature of the air we breathe. They
have acquired new and almost unlimited powers; they can command the thunders of heaven, mimic
the earthquake, and even mock the invisible world with its own shadows" (Shelley, 45). People have
so much to offer and grow from that they almost abuse their resources in order to accomplish the
impossible. One of which comes down to humanities imperfections and quarrels, as people try to
fight against themselves and other people over differing opinions and views. It's almost as though
they are, "unmoved, like a mask–heavy, like the closed door of a prison–they looked with their air of

Imperfections Of Image Pre-Processing
Owing to the imperfections of image acquisition systems, the images acquired are subject to various
defects that will affect the subsequent processing. Although these defects can sometimes be
corrected by adjusting the acquisition hardware, for example by increasing the number of images
captured for the same scene and adopting higher quality instruments, such hardware–based solutions
are time–consuming and costly. Therefore it is preferable to correct the images, after they have been
acquired and digitized, by using computer programs, which are fast and relatively low–cost. For
example, to remove noise, smooth filters (including linear and median filters) can be applied; to
enhance contrast in low–contrast images, the image histograms can ... Show more content on

Even so, they are not adaptable enough for use on the full diversity of food products. Pre–processing
techniques Noise removal Images captured using various means are all subject to different types of
noise, such as the read–out noise while reading information from cameras, the wiring noise while
transferring video signals from cameras to computers, and the electronic noise while digitizing video
signals. All these lead to degradation of the quality of the images when they are subsequently
processed. In Figure 1.1, two images of the same scene have been taken at an interval of less than 2
seconds, using the same image acquisition system, and the differences are illustrated to demonstrate
the noise produced during image acquisition. It is clearly important that noise is removed after
images have been digitized and stored in computers, and the most efficient and feasible approach for
image noise removal is to "average" the image by itself. Linear filter The simplest method of
averaging an image by itself is the linear filter, by which the intensity values of pixels in the image
are averaged using the intensity values of their neighboring pixels within a small region. The filter
processing can be described by the following equation: f^' (x,y)=(∑_(i=–M)^(+M)▒∑_(j=–
M)^(+M)▒〖w_(i,j) f(x+i,y+j)〗)⁄(∑_(i=–M)^(+M)▒∑_(j=–M)^(+M)▒w_(i,j) ) where f (x, y) is

Gifts Of Imperfection

  • 1. Gifts Of Imperfection I got up today trying to figure it out what to write on the journal, as I was thinking about it I look at the book and then it hit me "imperfection" that is my key word. I took this word out of the book The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown because I believed that imperfection is the perfect world for me. Even though I try to do everything perfect in my eyes nothing is good enough. I am one of those person that cannot giver herself credit for nothing. One example is that I work as a cashier at the Dollar General. Last week they offered me the opportunity to become a floor leader. I was in shock, I thought why me if I am just a simple cashier. Well, my supervisor to me all the good things this position came with it, but I was not putting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Imperfection In The Birthmark In the piece "The Birthmark" it is impossible and foolish to try to reach perfection. Because we all have been stamped with the imperfections of nature when Adam and Eve took a bite from the tree in the garden of Eden..... It is impossible to reach perfection because even Almyer himself had imperfections, as we later find out when Georgiana is in the laboratory reading his accomplishments, as well as his downfalls. I don't believe Almyer wanted Georgiana to find the book. Because he didn't want her to realize he was imperfect as well. But, the only one that is truly perfect is God. In this piece Georgiana could have flipped the script on Almyer, and ask him about his imperfections. But, she only wanted for Alymer to be happy and to gain his approval, which is why it states "So deeply these reflections affect Georgiana that she laid her face upon the open ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As well as the character, Georgiana. It states that "It was the sad confession and continual exemplification of the shortcomings of the composite man, the spirit burdened with clay and working matter, and of the despair that assails the higher nature at finding itself so miserably thwarted by the earthly part." So, the chosen theme says to me that, we as a society strive for perfection. Just as the girl in "Barbie Doll" was made to hate her big nose, and fat legs, Georgiana was made to hate her birthmark. No matter how we, as a society strive for perfection. We will never reach it until we go to Heaven... I take from this story, even if you don't please the people around you, you shouldn't have to change yourself to be perfect, or die trying. Both girls in the "Barbie Doll" as well as "The Birthmark" end up dying to finally get approval of their appearances. So, if I have to die to be "perfect" or to gain approval. Then, I guess approval and acceptance are something I just won't ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Gifts Of Imperfection Analysis "The Gifts of Imperfection" Brené Brown is the author of "The Gifts of Imperfection". Brené wrote the book to show what she learned from different people thought and to make people aware of choices lead to wholeheartedness. In the introduction, Brown states that wholehearted living is a process, not a one time choice. The key to the key imperfection is cultivated, courage, compassion and connection. Nobody in this world is perfect. This book teaches you that what we are all humans that are imperfect and vulnerable. "Let go of who you think you're supposed to be and embrace who you are."(cover of the book) First of all, courage is one of the keys to wholehearted living. According to Brown the definition of courage has been changed over the past years. In today's society most people refer courage to a hero. According to brown, courage originally meant "To speak one's mind by telling all one's heart. It is important to recognized courage in our lives. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We all have some type of gifts and talents. Brown, states that self–doubt and "suppose to" does not allow us to find our gifts and talents; therefore, we do not shear them with others. We tend to live our day to day life based on what we are expected to do by other people. Everyone is unique in their own way or fashion. As humans we need to do what we think is correct, and not what other people expect from us. This could worsen our health because this could lead to stress, and anxiety. Over all, nobody is perfect. We need to learn how to view imperfection as a positive thing. It is important to keep in mind that the key to imperfection is cultivated, courage, compassion and connection. Wholehearted is a process. I plan to practice the process of Wholehearted. As, I was reading the book I could relate to several examples that Brown gave. "Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do." (Page ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Racial Imperfection As imperfect humans, we all have something in common. Imperfections. There are many flaws that we have, and they can often have a negative impact on ourselves and other people. One imperfection that is a big problem today is a form of prejudice called racism. Racism is a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race. It seems like as time goes on, the meaning of racism gets more complex. So what does racism mean in this day and age? Discrimination based on a certain cultural background has been around almost as long as the world has been around. Nobody is born with a racial prejudice, it is something that is taught. It could be taught ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Individual racism happens on a more personal level. One type of individual racism is just a racial bias. A racial bias is when you form an opinion on someone strictly based off of their race. The scary thing about this is that this can happen consciously or subconsciously. When it happens subconsciously, people do not think that they are being racist. It is like talking to a brick wall when one tries to confront them on the issue. Another stage is discrimination. This can happen on a cultural level or just because someone hates a certain race. When it is cultural, one may discriminate against others because they think their race is the superior race, but discrimination can still happen just because one may purely hate a certain race for different reasons. Another type of individual racism is same race racism. Same race racism is pretty self–explanatory. Some people hate on people that are the same race as them due to the fact that they do not like how they act, they don't like how they look, and many other reasons. Institutional racism is pretty much the same thing as individual racism, just on a bigger scale. Institutional racism is Racial discrimination that is looked at as normal behavior within a society. Popular examples of institutional racism include Nazi Germany, Jim Crow, and Apartheid in South Africa. Institutional racism affects a whole group of people. • 9. The Gifts Of Imperfection By Brene Brown A Letter to My Sister I wrote this during my time in higher education. I know things will change by the time you're in college, especially since there's a fourteen–year age difference. Although many things will change, I know some things will remain the same for the both of us. Like me, you're a people pleaser. You want to do what will help others like you. You hurt deeply when someone has done something wrong and tend to place blame on yourself. You ask so many questions. You have compassion and feel for others– this grows from our family roots. So much of me I see in you and you're only nine years old. I used to think these traits could be a great tool when you work, but then I read The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown and she stated, "Perfectionism is self–destructive simply because there is no such thing as perfect. Perfection is an unattainable goal" (pg. 57). Bug–a–boo, I know this isn't something that you want to hear, but she is right. There is no such thing as being perfect. As I see you struggle as a nine–year–old to perfectly read that chapter book or make all of the kids like you at school, I just want to hug you and tell you that you are and always have been enough. I once heard in a song, "You'll always measure up if you compare yourself to you". You are the only person you need to focus on. I don't mean the ideal "perfect daughter, sister, friend, student" portrait you try to paint yourself to be. I'm talking about the beautiful girl who loves to dance down the hallway, the girl who leaves her school work scattered around the house, the girl who struggles, the girl who is human. Additionally, keep in mind, comparing yourself to others robs you of the potential YOU were given. And trust me, that potential is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Birthmark Imperfection In my adaptation paper, I decided to rewrite the short story, "The Birth–Mark" by Nathaniel Hawthorne, because I wanted to show how one imperfection can change everything in someone's life. How could one birthmark drive someone to death? The idea of imperfection should not exist in an ideal perfect world, and never understanding someone's ideas and words can damage a beautiful soul and mentality. The author, Nathaniel Hawthorne used his short story to show how a husband's approval and beauty ideas were more important than showing his wife true acceptance of every beauty flaw. The only option in the husband's eyes was the removal of the Crimson Hand birthmark, or as Aylmer sees the birthmark as "hideous" (Hawthorne, 419). Even though, the result ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many people saw the birthmark as a symbol dealing with religion or the meaning of the birthmark was way deeper actually understanding why Hawthorne used the birthmark. Today, the birthmark would be a beauty statement, and how beauty's standards do change within time. Someone's birthmark could change the standards, but who would be the one to step out of the darkness to make a powerful statement with the possibility of getting judged throughout the process. There would be too many people afraid of getting judged for imperfection to stand up for something positive because how the society believes what true beauty should be. In an article, The Fatal Hand: A Sign of Confusion in Hawthorne's the Birth–Mark by Steve Youra, helped explain how obsessed Aylmer got about finding out more about the birthmark, and how Georgiana saw herself with the birthmark. Aylmer cared more about the idea of perfection, but he fully did not understand perfection on exists in Heaven, not Earth. Youra saw Aylmer's obsession as a distraction from his failures in life, and he commented, "Noting down every detail in his experimental log (A heightened flush of the cheek– a slight irregularity of breath– a breath– a quiver of the eyelid– a hardly perceptible tremor through frame), he ignores the significance of these observation, even as he ... • 13. Mccloskey Imperfection Vs Evil assumed that the machine was made by someone with specific skills to build and maintain the equipment in order for the machine to continue to produce equipment. The similar situation is occurring as God left his "machine" to do his work and has no need to change anything that it is producing. McCloskey further argued the presence of imperfection and evil in the world argues against divine design or divine purpose. While the cosmological argument has limitations regarding his argument as mentioned prior, he does seem to contradict himself when he says, "the first cause must be explained as an uncaused cause, otherwise we are left with an infinite regress of causes" (51). • 15. Imperfection Flaws Many people view vulnerability as a sign of weakness, while not entirely wrong this imperfection shows how we can improve. Often people will grow after making mistakes that they can use as a base to learn from. When accepting these faults many will be able to advance in ways to improve themselves. In today's society many value the trait that is perfection in order to get farther in life and increase self–worth. Ironically, the acceptance of that fact that no one is perfect has more benefits that result in personal growth. By our very nature people have flaws that cannot be perfectly corrected so we tend to sweep these imperfections under the rug and hide it. • 17. The Gifts Of Imperfection By Esperanza To fit into the social standards, tremendous amount of people change themselves. It's a psychological feeling to want to belong, so altars are made to the appearance and personalities. Why is it that outrageous actions are made, so that an individual can be considered "normal", by society's beliefs? The natural man seeks acceptance within a community and sometimes by wanting approval, dignity and self actualization of an individual counterfeits who they really are. According to Brené Brown, from the book "The Gifts of Imperfection", "we often try to acquire [belonging] by fitting in and by seeking approval, which are not only hollow substitutes for belonging, but often barriers to it." In the world, many people want to feel included so fitting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Esperanza and her friends wanted to be recognized, so when they put high heels on they felt great joy about looking like a grown up, exclaiming happily, "Hurray! Today we are Cinderella because our feet fit exactly" (Cisneros 40). Esperanza's desire to have a sense of belonging impelled her to take drastic actions even though the attention came from greedy and aggressive men. Through yearning for want she could not have, such as money or a new name, Esperanza then identified that she would rather be herself and escape in her own way, instead of being in a manipulative relationship. After experiencing many hardships in her life, Esperanza realized by being true to herself, opportunities are more feasible, conveying, "I have gone away to come back. For the one's I left behind. For the one's who cannot [get] out" (110). By going through adversity, Esperanza's potential broadened because of the talent that she has in writing and her future became palpable. She is able to acknowledge that her capability of writing will help her leave Mango Street and come back to help those that can't help them–self. The significance of being an original person, helped Esperanza discover her self–worth and create her own path, instead of changing her individuality to have a false sense of fitting in a population. • 19. Imperfection In Jane Eyre Happily ever after. Too often in novels and fables conclude with forced, fantastical endings designed to match ideal scenarios. In doing so, authors compromise their work's themes as realistic lessons give way to improbable outcomes. However, in Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre, imperfection is embraced in the titular protagonist's relationship with Mr. Rochester, offering a worthy commentary on romance through a woman's viewpoint. Erica Jong's introduction to the novel analyzes Jane Eyre's significance on women's empowerment in the context of love. Nevertheless, Jong's assertion regarding male arrogance, female independence, and affection requires qualification. Rather, removing male arrogance and fostering female independence in the minds of both individuals are the keys to lasting love between the sexes. The perception of arrogance in a romantic relationship prevents either side from reaching lasting love. With men are inherently entitled in a patriarchal society, removing the aura of superiority is a prerequisite for any authentic connection. A relationship plagued by entitlement is shown by "The Yellow Wallpaper", as the narrator's husband consistently patronizes his wife when addressing her treatment and illness. However, his condescension only ensures the demise of the narrator instead of relieving her suffering. As the narrator realizes her husband's ignorance, she becomes increasingly unstable under his oppression, ultimately convincing herself that she is the shackled woman in the yellow wallpaper. In contrast, the 2005 film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice exhibits a relationship in which initial arrogance is washed away. At the dance, Darcy can be heard saying that Lizzie is not beautiful enough to "tempt him", characterizing him as a member of the gentry looking down upon the common folk. However, as he professes his love in the pouring rain, Darcy's overconfidence as he acknowledges her inferior status leads Lizzie to reject him. Lizzie's resolute defiance in the face of Darcy's display of arrogance effectively humbles him and allows her to equalize the power in their relationship. As Lizzie begins to fall in love with Darcy, their perceptions of each other as equals drive their happiness even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Examples Of Imperfection Imperfection is not the opposite of perfection, as if it is a state not to be desired. Instead, imperfection is the state of acceptance of self through love. Without seeing who you truly are, you won't know what to change and what to keep. Perfectionism just throws everything out the window. Here are five ways to truly be free by letting yourself live as you are. "I am Me" "Accept me as I am" is a battle cry. There are things that you like about yourself and also things that you don't, but it all works together to become the person that you are today. True change in your life is an act of love. • 25. The Work In Potential Of Imperfections By Melissa Cunningham Introduction The discreet, intimate object of the ceramic tea bowl, by itself, is an empty vessel ready to be filled. Metaphorically speaking, this is similar to the human experience – our lives begin as empty vessels, and as we encounter each experience in our lives, our "vessels" become filled with who we are and who we will become. The tea bowls in Potential of Imperfections trace beautiful imperfections, frozen moments, and fragmented experiences. These experiences are direct references to trauma, decay, and disease and are connections between fragility, imperfection, intimacy, and the body manifested into palpable, corporeal form. Using the common, yet intimate object of the ceramic tea bowl as a stand–in for the body, traces of beautiful imperfections such as the distortion through firing, frozen moments as seen in the throwing marks, and fragmented experiences such as the cracks that have been repaired are revealed. How does displaying a large collection of tea bowls differ from using just one? Does this evoke a sense of community or the diversity of experience? The work in Potential of Imperfections by Melissa Cunningham begs to answer these questions through connections to history, present forms in the processes, and contemporary art and thought surrounding this installation as well as her body of work. ... • 27. Salinger 's The Gifts Of Imperfection Brené Brown, esteemed author of The Gifts of Imperfection, has previously expressed, "Authenticity is the choice to let our true selves be seen." In other words, Brown depicts how the desire of conveying how one feels determines their authenticity, or "true self". In J.D. Salinger's fiction novel Catcher in the Rye, Salinger illustrates the double–edged effects of Holden's beliefs on authenticity by his usage of the word, "phony". The novel is narrated by a young adolescent named Holden Caulfield who becomes guilty of expulsion from school and embarks on a journey through New York City. There, he meets many unique people, a majority to which he assumes as phonies, immediately questioning their authenticity. His character development is depicted by utilizing the effects on Holden from the word "phony" and the interaction of phony people, or "phonies". Throughout Catcher in the Rye, Holden's perspective on the world and adults being phonies slowly changes from the many forms of life he has been exposed to. In the beginning of the book, Holden introduces us and defines the word, "phony". Holden appears to classify someone as a phony by how they act in public toward their peers and superiors. As Holden brings up the topic of Pencey Prep while introducing himself, he significantly mentions a girl named Selma Turner, the headmaster of Pencey Prep's daughter. In The Scarlet Letter Hawthorne uses the symbolism of Pearl, Hester's Cabin, and Dimmesdale to contribute to the overall theme of imperfection. To begin, Hawthorne uses Pearl to contribute to the overall theme of imperfection. Pearl is the beautiful daughter of Hester the main character, and Dimmesdale a minister. Even though Pearl is beautiful she was born in prison as a child of adultery. As regular child would commonly be pure, for they had just come from the hands of God, Pearl was more wicked as if she had been presented by the devil to the hands of her mother because of her adultery. Hawthorne says, "God, as a direct consequence of sin... had given her a lovely child..." (Hawthorne 81). This quote explains that Pearl is a beautiful treasure that came from her mother's sinful act of adultery so she is imperfect. This is just like how beautiful pearl that is made from the grinding together of sand inside of a dirty clam is imperfect. To begin, Hawthorne uses the Wild Rose–Bush to contribute to the overall theme of imperfection in many ways. One such way is that a rose is a beautiful flower but it has thorns that can prick you. Hawthorne metaphorically picks a rose for the reader to have as a symbol for the duration of the book. Hawthorne also explains, "Which might be imagined to offer their fragrance and fragile beauty to the prisoner as he went in, and to the condemned criminal as he came forth to his doom, in token that the deep heart of Nature could pity and be kind to him" (Hawthorne 46). During this explanation of the town he briefly explains how the rose might have been seen. At this point, a thing of beauty is being seen as a hopeful object, and the criminals receive that last breath of hope before their punishment, just as a rose's thorn might prick you as you grab for one. • 47. The Imperfection Of Humans When we look forward and anticipate the future through the means of science fiction, it seems that contributing largely to our contemporary definition of "human" is our imperfections. The very fact that we posses these imperfections is the reason that writers imagine a future where those imperfections may be eliminated; knowing that there is room for improvement drives human curiosity and ingenuity forward. So now we imagine a future where humans are perfect, ageless, precise. Would these things really still be human or closer to real life cyborgs? Maybe this question is too ethical, lacking in empirical evidence to give a non–angled answer. But for myself, what makes a human different from a machine is that we are not built off of automatic judgments, we are not ageless, and we all carry collective, as well as our own individual imperfections. For it is these imperfections that remind us that we were not constructed in factories, but are rather shaped by our biology and given environments. As humans, we do in fact posses many automatic functions, many of which are linked to the autonomic nervous system which controls and regulates bodily functions such as our heartbeats, blood circulation, and breathing patterns. As Descartes puts it, "Our own bodies can move without the guidance of volition." So in this sense, the human body has a mechanical side to it, but when it comes to our reasoning of the world, being creative, and solving problems, these are functions that are not ... Yet, even by means of definition, the completeness and mere concept of a god could not be managed or captured and could not be contained by the mere usage of words. Perhaps, in the human sense, a god is the epitome of perfection, quickly the opposite of anything faulty that we human beings can conceive. God must be the perfected imperfection. There is a sense that we all originated from God, that God has created us human beings. It is a typical notion that what has come out of something must be similar to that something. People have somehow derived to this equation, and that as we have all come from God, we must be, as close as possible to what a God is, perfect beings. However, apparently we are imperfect beings of problems and sinfulness. Despite the perfection that God possesses and can provide for His own creation, this must be the only thing He must have failed to perfect. But, yet, this imperfection must be deduced to be intentional in nature, as no god, who is made of perfection, can create an imperfection as that would make him no god. Hawthorne describes Pearl's response by saying,"Pearl knew well enough who made her ... closed her lips, or impelled her to speak words amiss ... finally announced that she had not been made at all, but had been plucked by her mother off the bush of wild roses that grew by the prison door" (Hawthorne 102). In the quote Pearl, despite her innocence, does wrong by blaspheming. The quote shows how she is something beautiful coming out of the dark. Both of these quotes and the symbol of the Wild Rosebush show how good and evil max together, to make everything imperfect. Furthermore, Hawthorne uses Hester's Cabin to add to the theme of imperfection. Hester's Cabin represents Hester. It symbolizes how she is on the line between good and evil and society and nature with the physical placement of Hester's Cabin being on the edge between the town and the forest. Hawthorne uses Hester's Cabin to show the reader Hester's state of mind. He describes the Cabin's location when he says,"On the outskirts of the town ... was a small thatched cottage ... on the shore ... A clump of scrubby trees"(Hawthorne 74). By being on the outskirts of town Hester's Cabin shows how disconnected Hester is from society. In describing the Cabin as partially hidden by trees, Hawthorne show how close Hester is to evil. Hawthorne displays exactly what mental place Hester is in after leaving the prison. Hester is still good and part of the town, but is surrounded by evil. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 63. The Imperfection Of The Greek Parthenon The Athenian Greeks at the height of their power built a temple called the Parthenon which was a monument to their core values of perfectionism, humanism, and rationalism. It is important to understand that the human eye has imperfections which deceive the mind, so one can understand the unique steps that were taken to achieve the illusion of perfection to the human eye. The Greeks loved perfection, and as seen in the Parthenon, the Greek architects purposely made the Parthenon imperfect to account for the imperfections in the human eye. This was done so that when one views the Parthenon with the naked eye, it appears to be perfectly symmetrical, straight, and proportional. The entire Parthenon does not have a single right angle. An example of the Greeks compensating for the imperfections of the human eye is seen in the base of the Parthenon, which from a picture or in real life looks perfectly straight, but in reality it is actually curved slightly upward. It is curved because the Greeks knew that if you have a perfectly flat base for a building, it appears curved to the human eye. To account for that, the Greeks made it so that the base was already curved. The Greeks also curved the columns of the Parthenon inward, because if the columns were straight, it would appear to be curving outward. Again, the Greeks knew about how the human eye deceives the mind, and decided that they must trick the eye to please the mind. This was all done because the Greeks strived for ... • 65. Imperfection In Nathaniel Hawthorne's Birthmark Nathaniel Hawthorne's Birth–Mark story expounds on how a human is obsessed with perfection. There are many different topics that can be derived from this story. The selection of the topics will be influenced by one's angle of choice and the manner of addressing the selected topic. Some of the topics that came to my mind when I went through this story include: How is imperfection presented in Nathaniel's story? Throughout the story, Nathaniel shows a lot of concern on the imperfection he noted on his wife's cheek. He was dissatisfied with it and could not understand why it was placed on her cheek. According to Nathaniel, that imperfection could be removed if there was a way out. The power of nature bypasses manmade creation. Despite Nathaniel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 67. Examples Of Imperfections In Hamlet Hamlet is one of the best–known plays by Shakespeare, but what embodies the main character, Hamlet, to be a tragic hero? This fictional character has many imperfections since the commencement of the play and leads to his unfortunate demise along with others who are adjacent to him. One of the imperfections is taking action, while the other imperfection is by acting instantly rather than celebrating exhaustively for a plausible plan. Hamlet's involution in events has been the catalyst of many suicides, including his own as he enacts his revenge for his biological father throughout the play. Over the scenes of the play, Hamlet would gradually notice his impuissance of character, which leads to the famous quotation from Shakespeare;"to be or not ... Laertes said in the play;"I'll anoint my sword./ I bought an unction of a mountebank, /So mortal that, but dip a knife in it, /Where it draws blood no cataplasm so rare, /Collected from all simples that have virtue/Under the moon, can save the thing from death/That is but scratched withal: I'll touch my point/With this contagion, that, if I gall him slightly, /It may be death." • 69. Imperfection Through Perfection Perfection through Imperfection There is a difference between being open–minded and the willingness to accept those around them, versus drawing a line between people and separating each one from one another and judging them individually for their flaws. People are not perfect, it is clear to the world. Yet, many still idolize the theory or idea as of what a god is and how he wishes man to live out their life, as a perfect specimen, which in turn leads to the judgement on their own mirror representation and those around them. The problem with people trying to act god–like comes down to the fact that they let their emotions cloud their judgement and results in a more reckless behavior. There are many people that try so hard to make every single ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of people's judgments are what form these beliefs on those around them and what they wish to change about themselves. Rather than accepting the flaws in which they see, they try to perfect it. "The modern masters promise very little; they know that metals cannot be transmuted and that the elixir of life is a chimera but these philosophers, whose hands seem only made to dabble in dirt, and their eyes to pore over the microscope or crucible, have indeed performed miracles. They penetrate into the recesses of nature and show how she works in her hiding–places. They ascend into the heavens; they have discovered how the blood circulates, and the nature of the air we breathe. They have acquired new and almost unlimited powers; they can command the thunders of heaven, mimic the earthquake, and even mock the invisible world with its own shadows" (Shelley, 45). People have so much to offer and grow from that they almost abuse their resources in order to accomplish the impossible. One of which comes down to humanities imperfections and quarrels, as people try to fight against themselves and other people over differing opinions and views. It's almost as though they are, "unmoved, like a mask–heavy, like the closed door of a prison–they looked with their air of hidden knowledge, of patient expectation, ... • 71. Imperfection In Andrew Niccol's Gattaca In the "near" future of Andrew Niccol's Gattaca, perfection is everything. Even the most trivial aspects of one's genes are handpicked for flawless, genetic purity. However, perfection has cost, a cost that impacts one's ability to aspire to be more than the blood that flows through their veins. A person's ambition cannot be engineered or predicted; ambition is something that is acquired through life's experiences. It is this infectious ambition that drives Vincent Freemen and inspires those who have been robbed of their own aspirations to share in his knowledge of imperfections power. In Gattaca, Niccol demonstrates how imperfection is the key to acquiring ambition because it is through Vincent's experiences of struggle and pain that he is ... It was ambition that allowed Vincent Freemen, a degenerate to reach for the moon but land on the stars. It was his ambition that made Eugene, Anton, and Irene look at their world and see the errors in a life dedicated to perfection. However, Vincent was not born with ambition; it was not injected into his blood or inherited from his parents. It was attained by his experiences of a life that patronized him for being less than perfect. It is the experiences of failure and defeat that truly motivates him to become more than the unchecked genes within him. Vincent refused to accept the cards he was dealt and this defiance allowed Vincent to see past the pain to a moment where his imperfections did not matter. For Vincent's true character is in his own name, "to conquer" and his capability to eclipse his imperfections with his implausible ambition proves that there is no gene for ... But they don't know anything about her. On the northern island, Mokusei, was a ship. Or simply a submarine. A yellow one. Like with her other guests, she tend to obliterate their fragile life sources, but this thing, she spared them. A odd thing. A foreign feeling to her. She had always murdered others that invade the island. It wasn't because she didn't feel like it. That would disgrace her. The only reason why she didn't destroyed them, or even attack them was because they were peaceful. It was a law in the Raters. Never attack, until you are 100% sure that they are worth killing. She was merciless, but an honorable woman who never disobeyed the laws, or her superiors, even if they were annoying or angered her. Although unleashing wrath could assist with winning, staying calm was key. There they were, a suspicious, snowy white polar bear that she has never seen in her life, two man in an orange suit, and the one in the front who seemed like the leader, which he was. Trafalgar Law, better known as Surgeon of Death. He had his infamous, calm smile stamped on his face. • 75. Imperfections Of Image Pre-Processing Owing to the imperfections of image acquisition systems, the images acquired are subject to various defects that will affect the subsequent processing. Although these defects can sometimes be corrected by adjusting the acquisition hardware, for example by increasing the number of images captured for the same scene and adopting higher quality instruments, such hardware–based solutions are time–consuming and costly. Therefore it is preferable to correct the images, after they have been acquired and digitized, by using computer programs, which are fast and relatively low–cost. For example, to remove noise, smooth filters (including linear and median filters) can be applied; to enhance contrast in low–contrast images, the image histograms can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even so, they are not adaptable enough for use on the full diversity of food products. Pre–processing techniques Noise removal Images captured using various means are all subject to different types of noise, such as the read–out noise while reading information from cameras, the wiring noise while transferring video signals from cameras to computers, and the electronic noise while digitizing video signals. All these lead to degradation of the quality of the images when they are subsequently processed. In Figure 1.1, two images of the same scene have been taken at an interval of less than 2 seconds, using the same image acquisition system, and the differences are illustrated to demonstrate the noise produced during image acquisition. It is clearly important that noise is removed after images have been digitized and stored in computers, and the most efficient and feasible approach for image noise removal is to "average" the image by itself. Linear filter The simplest method of averaging an image by itself is the linear filter, by which the intensity values of pixels in the image are averaged using the intensity values of their neighboring pixels within a small region. The filter processing can be described by the following equation: f^' (x,y)=(∑_(i=–M)^(+M)▒∑_(j=– M)^(+M)▒〖w_(i,j) f(x+i,y+j)〗)⁄(∑_(i=–M)^(+M)▒∑_(j=–M)^(+M)▒w_(i,j) ) where f (x, y) is the intensity value of pixel (x, y), while M ...
