2. This is very different to many
of the top artists album covers
due to style of music.
Anamanaguchi are a band that
create 8-bit styled music
hence why their album cover
looks like a retro videogame.
In the digipak cover it has the
name of the album ‘Dawn
Metropolis’ and the name of
the band.
The album cover is created
within a graphic design
program instead of the
traditional photography work
that many top artists usually
have. This suggests that their
music is very indie and
appeals to a very niche.
The pictures being displayed
in the cover could be very
symbolic to the music as space
you associate with synths and
other high pitched sounds in
which are included in their
work.
The album cover is extremely
conventional to their music as it fits
with the genre and theme perfectly.
3. This is the album cover for Take
That’s ‘Wonderland’.
The name of the band is not
included on the cover as Take That
are very well known all around the
world so they are able to get away
with not adding it as they are very
well known and recognisable.
Even the name of the album
‘Wonderland’ is not featured this
could be because of the coverage it
got within the music world or people
could associate the name of the
album with the attire that is worn by
them as it’s very Alice in
Wonderland esque.
The colours used within the cover
are very bright and vibrant which
could be an indicator of the nature
of their music as it tends to be very
positive.
The album cover is very creatively
produced as it creates things like the
sun with lights and yellow objects.
4. This is the album cover for Michael
Jackson’s ‘Bad’. It includes both the name
of the artist and the album name.
The background is blank but I think the
reason that this was done was because of
the fact that they wanted to heavily
emphasise Michael Jackson’s iconic
image. As well as this, as he is wearing a
black leather jacket, it creates very good
contrast and emphasis by making the
background an opposite colour, in this
case white.
This is a very conventional mainstream
album cover in the 1980’s as they would
always use a picture of the artist within
the album in some sort of way. This was
very important to include Jackson on this
cover though as in these years Jackson
changed his appearance via bleaching
and plastic surgery in which altered his
appearance dramatically so they needed
to show viewers that this is what he
looked like during this period of time.
