2. Task 1
Music videos were first created in the 1980’s specifically 1981. the first
music video created was called “video killed the radio star” by the group
Buggles.
The way Music videos are different to TV programs are, firstly the length
of the videos are much shorter than a TV program this is because while
TV programs are trying to tell story's while music videos are trying to get
you interested in the song/artist. Another difference is that music videos
don’t have to give you much information and detail visually.
The purpose of a music video is to promote the song, the artist and the
album.
Music videos are now available on multiple platforms these are things
like YouTube, MTV and social media websites like Facebook and Twitter.
3. Task 2
MTV or music television is a cable and satellite television channel which
broadcasts popular music and promotional music videos.
Launched on August 1, 1981
It is a opportunity to visually engage with the artist and to see what they
are like and about.
it helped artists who wanted to make a game for them selves because it
showed the audience what the artists are about and for there songs
The MTV VJ or video jockey's helped to usher in a pop culture
phenomenon that did not exist before.
Watching and listing to music videos changes how they do things making
more visuals important.
4. Task 3
MS’s have developed because: there is more money available, there is an elevation of
MV, collaborations, product placement for funding, intertextual references and more
hyper texting.
They have enabled artists to showcase them selves and there products, they have also
enabled some artists to have more freedom and all of this helps reach larger
audiences.
Since the 1980’s there are a lot more ways for viewing MV some of these are: MTV,
YouTube and social media applications like Facebook and Instagram.
websites like YouTube and Vevo have changed the way we interact with and view MV
because: the artist is in control of branding or the company is, they share them for
below the line marketing and lastly they control what the release and when.
Thriller, telephone and YouTube artists like Gangnam style are good example of power
because the image is very important because with out it you would not like or
understand the music as much.
5. Task 4
The audience watching the music videos might find something interesting
or addictive and want to watch more.
Watching different genres we become familiar with the way thing are done
and expect to see them again.
So a repetition of images
Andrew Goodwin theory “sometimes music videos provide a visual
pleasure for an Audience that encourage repeated viewing – we become
familiar with the genre and therefore have expectations”
6. Task 5
A small list of some songs i have listened to again: thriller, paradise,
radioactive and pumped up kicks
Picking two the videos i like are radioactive and paradise. The reason why i
enjoy radioactive is the tune to the music that draws me in and the funny
music video that goes with it, which when looked at has a deeper meaning.
i really like the video and the correlation between the song and the video and
how they work together.
The videos that are most watch are the ones that are the most appealing to
the audience and the most different ones. The reason behind this is the
audience likes something new and original and if it can meet certain standard
people will watch it
7. Task 6 Taylor swift
The pleasures this video has for the audience are that the camera and the
MES work together to crate an image about the character in the music
video by using a range of shots like close ups and medium shot with
canted angles to show the acting and costume of Taylor swifts character. It
also uses editing techniques like temporal extension and others it break
reality in a way to show she is possessive and crazy.
It might make people view the MV again so the can have a better
understanding of what is going on and to see if they missed anything and if
they are a fan just to watch it.
This video was not on my list before
