How did you attract/address
your audience
Intro


Having a specific audience for a film or opening sequence is crucial in order
to succeed in the film industry. Attracting and addressing audiences is vital in
any opening sequence



The way that we attracted our audience by clarifying the genre clearly to our
audience



The thriller genre has a very large audience and is becoming more popular
than ever in recent times.
Audience attraction


The way in which we prepared, filmed and editing is crucial in terms of how
we attracted certain audiences. As thriller genre enthusiasts, me and my
partner recalled certain techniques and scenes we had previously seen in
thriller film and decided how we could incorporate something similar into our
own pieces. Doing this made sure that audiences would recognise the genre
and show interest in our sequence.



We recognised that our piece could not continue at the same pace constantly
so we ensured that there was a balanced level of pace, action, emotion and
other aspects.
Research






Me and my partner decided that to get the full picture of what an audience
expect from the thriller genre we needed to go and ask other people their
opinions and views.
We began with friends and family as they are easily accessible and willing to
contribute
Then we decided to ask members of the public as with ask friends and family
their answers may be influenced due to the fact that you know them. We
asked members of the public as their answers would be honest and
uninfluenced.
Feedback and advice


We showed some of our friends a rough copy of some of the scenes we had
shot. We did this to ensure that audiences understand and were interested by
our piece.



We asked them to give us feedback to help us to improve and edit pieces of
our opening sequence.
Outcome


The methods we used allowed us to attract our audience easier and more
effectively.



If we had not done this research on people of all ages and backgrounds then
our final piece would not be as appealing to our audiences.
