2. Intro
• The distribution of a film is the process through which a movie is
made available to watch for an audience by a film distributor.
These institutions are organisations that deal with the creation
and the distribution of their films. The majority of these
organisations are based in Los Angeles and Hollywood.
• Except for the actual film the institutions control everything to do
with the film. They ensure that their target or potential audience
are fully aware of the film and that the advertisement and
marketing is handled correctly to make sure their production gains
the maximum audience and makes them the most money.

3. Our Production
• As our film is an independent production it would be very
difficult to find an experienced or big producer to take
on our film as this involves and large amount of
investment, time and risk. If we had the choice of who
produced our film we would decide on a top quality
distributor with a history a producing high quality
thrillers like Disturbia or Shutter Island.
• Production companies may be directly responsible for
fundraising for their production but mostly achieve this
through funding from a distributor such as Universal or
Paramount. If we were to convince them to take on our
film this would give our film a lot more publicity and
funding. We would also start our own company in which
we gained funding before our film was released.

4. Institutions in our production
• The names of the production companies and
actors have their own slide in order to make
sure that the audience know who played what
roll.
• The Producer and Director also have their own
separate slide as they are vital to the movie
and usually have this privilege as part of their
contract. This is because they want the
audience to know which institution/distributor
is responsible.

5. Good institutions
• Good distributors are companies or people that are reliable and
support the film 100%. Examples of these are distributors such as
Universal and Paramount. Funding for the film would usually be
provided by the company but there are various charities and
events such as the BFI’s London Film Festival where we could
appeal for further funding.

6. My influence
• As director I looked to the big companies such as Universal and
Paramount Pictures. I looked at these because they produce high
quality thriller films and generate huge profits each year.
• These companies are impressive as they back their projects fully.
This means that they have top quality actors, big sets, special
effects and the ability to achieve everything possible. Universal is
recognisable from its soundtrack are is identifiable from the music
alone. This shows that they have a huge impact and that they are
responsible for many of the films that people see as they enjoy
films made by this institution.
