• Thriller/horror: Tension, don’t know what is going to
happen next, suspense, the events continue
throughout so you do not get bored, keeps your
attention on the film.
• Mystery: Anything could happen and nothing is given
away in the trailer, captures your attention.
• Comedy: Good comedies make you laugh throughout,
easy to watch and follow.
• Romantic comedy: Easy to watch and can’t loose the
direction of the storyline.
• Action adventure: Never ending action throughout,
something is always happening, tense, special effects.

Why? Yes: Builds up a lot of tension and excitement about what is going to
happen next and what is going to be the next ‘scary’ part.
No: Scary and cannot watch it all so would be missing out on things to do with the
storyline.
7. Question 6: What would attract you to go and
see a film of this genre?
• The trailer, if it looks appealing and draws you
in, it would make you more inclined to see the
film due to the storyline and wanting to know
what happens in between the parts in the
trailer and also at the end.
• All advertisements for the film (poster,
magazine), the actors etc.
8. Question 7:What do you look for in a trailer that
makes you want to go and see the film?
• Well know actors or new up and coming
actors, to see how good they are and get to
know new people in film.
• Good and interesting snippets of the storyline
to get an insight into what the film is about.
• Different bits from different parts of the film
so it gives you a brief overview without giving
away the ending.
9. Question 8:When you see a film poster or magazine,
what draws you in to looking at it?
• Colours that link with the genre, so it helps you see
what type of film it is going to be.
• The name of the film and the main actor starring in
it, big, in view so you get the main details quickly and
easily.
• The actor (if they are popular) it draws you into
looking at it.
• If you haven’t seen the actor before- makes you
wonder who it is and what film they will be starring
in.

11. Overview
The results that we collected through our questionnaire will be
valuable research into our target audience as it shows us what
they would want to see and would expect to see in a
mystery/thriller film trailer, poster and magazine. These results
show to us what we could include in different parts of these
three types of advertising the film in order to make it a success
in terms of the amount of people that then would go and see the
film.
