The Long Term Benefits Of Attending An Outdoor Centre For...
Based on your twenty hour placement discuss and evaluate the long–term benefits of attending an
outdoor centre for young people with behavioural challenges. You must refer to experiences you
gained personally and reflect critically on future development.
This essay is based on the twenty hours placement carried at Spray Water Sports Centre, during the
placement some of the duties carried was assisting preparing the equipment's for activities and
putting away after use. Also observe the leadership styles used by the activity leaders to encourage
the young people participation in the different activities provided and what they do to promote
inclusive lessons. This centre caters for a wide range of water sports such kayaking, windsurfing,
speed boating and sailing. This is important because it gives the young people who attend this centre
a wide range of choices and offer them opportunity to try and something new and develop their
skills in a different areas. This centre is well recognised by a number of sports governing bodies
such as Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) and has received rewards such as
Adventuremark, they have also accreditation special recognition award based on the accessibility of
facilities for all individual needs such as visually impaired ad learning difficulties. It is important
that this centre recognised by the authority
Outdoor education has been described as the education as an education in and about and for the

Does Light Propagate Or Move?
Since the beginning of time, people have longed to uncover the mystery of light. Specifically, how
does light propagate–or move? Interestingly, people still do not understand the first thing God ever
created, and perhaps never will. Nevertheless, it is important to continue studying to further learn
about Creation. For thousands of years, scientists and philosophers have endeavored to answer this
question. In relatively recent history, scientists have developed the wave theory, particle theory, and
the theory of particle–wave duality. Each individual theory of light has its own strengths and
weaknesses and has sparked heated debate throughout the scientific community. The story starts in
the 5th century BC. Empedocles, a Greek philosopher, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, the speed of light has been measured at roughly 670 million miles per hour (Wile 365).
With some math, scientists have learned that light can travel the circumference of earth
approximately 7 times each second and that it takes around 8 minutes for the sun's rays to reach
earth. Scientists can now calculate the wavelength, which is the distance between two crests, and
frequency of a light wave, but also the energy of a photon at the same time and use the values
interchangeably (Wile pp. 352 and 373). The electromagnetic spectrum, the collection of all forms
of light, shows that visible light is only a small fraction of all light. The spectrum ranges from
energetic gamma, X–ray, and ultraviolet radiation to relatively low–energy light waves such as
infrared, microwave, radar, TV, and FM and AM radio. Visible light, also known as the visible
spectrum, sits between ultraviolet and infrared. It is the only portion of the electromagnetic spectrum
that humans can see (Wile 370). Although much of the spectrum is unperceivable to the eye, it has
numerous uses. For example, X–rays are used to find broken bones and treat cancer, infrared light is
used in remote controls, microwaves heat food, and FM and AM waves are used in

Summary Of Young Adults And Higher Education By Thomas Brock
Young Adults and Higher Education by Thomas Brock focuses on issues in our postsecondary
education system. Brock believes that modifications need to be made to colleges and argues that
there are three areas in need of a transformation for students to succeed in college. According to
Brock the three areas in need of the most attention is remedial education, student support services,
and financial aid. If changes are made in each of these areas, improvements will be shown in
students. He believes that changes will result in an improvement in student's attendance, persistence,
and completion. Brock begins with background information and discusses the importance of college
today. He gives facts such as those who attend college or have a bachelor's ... Show more content on

I agree that things need to change so students can advance in college. College is very important for
most to make a decent living but without reforms being made many students never enroll and the
ones enrolled often drop out or fail classes. Students today like Brock mentioned need help with
attendance, persistence, and completion. One issue mentioned was remedial education. I disagree
with Brock in some ways on his ideas about remedial education. I do agree that schools should put
effort into helping these students and come up with programs such as opening doors. But I don't
think colleges are to blame for remedial education, students should not be entering college if they
are not able to keep up with college curriculum. I think the problem is occurring in high school,
when a student receives a high school diploma they should be prepared for college work not making
up for high school level curriculum. When a student enrolls in college they need to already be
prepared for higher education, but unfortunately 42% of students in community college are taking
remedial courses. A high school diploma should guarantee that the student is prepared for college–
level work, but it doesn't. I strongly agree with Brocks ideas on guidance counseling and believe it
needs serious work. Many students especially in community colleges have very limited access to see
a counselor and Brock said many don't even have an orientation at the beginning

The Physics Of Quantum Mechanics
Quantum mechanics was developed over many decades ago,Quantum mechanics is science dealing
with the behaviour of matter and light on the atomic and subatomic scale. It attempts to describe and
account for the properties of molecules and atoms and their constituents–electrons, protons,
neutrons, and other more particles. This type of physics beginning as a set of controversial
mathematical explanations of experiments that the math of classical mechanics could not explain. It
began at the turn of the 20th century, around the same time that Albert Einstein published his theory
of relativity, a separate mathematical revolution in physics that describes the motion of things at
high speeds. Unlike relativity, however, the origins of quantum mechanics cannot be attributed to
any one scientist. Rather, multiple scientists contributed to a foundation of three revolutionary
principles that gradually gained acceptance and experimental verification between 1900 and 1930.
One experiment that is known in this field of physics is the double slit experiment. The double–slit
experiment is a demonstration that light and matter can display characteristics of both regular
defined waves and particles; in addition, it displays the fundamentally probabilistic nature of
quantum mechanical occurrence. A simpler form of the double–slit experiment was performed
originally by Thomas Young in 1801. He believed it demonstrated that the wave theory of light was
correct and his experiment is

Scott and Jean's Icebreaker activities serve several different purposes, the first of which being to
encourage the group to come together as a whole and get to know one another. The initial activity
did a fabulous job of encouraging the youngsters to introduce themselves to their peers in a fun and
non intimidating way. It 'broke the ice' (LGBT Youth Scotland clips 2–6). If the introductions had

Informal education is totally different to the type of education that takes place within schools. Young
people are not taught the objectives defined by a teacher as they would be in a classroom, they are
encouraged to work things out for themselves as an active learner. An educator's role in informal
education is 'to create situations in which young people can identify their own goals for learning'
(Mackinnon, 2013 p13). In this instance (LGBT activity) the students were placed in small groups
and given the agenda i.e. where they would like Peer Education to be in two months time. From this
they worked together to discuss and identify the skills and barriers involved in peer education.
However they did not sit in a group around a table as you would expect to find with group activities
taking place in a school, instead they grouped using the furniture and floor space around the room in
an informal manner and discussed issues within their group rather than being directed by Scott or
Jean whose input was merely to work around the groups asking relevant questions to encourage
independent thinking therefore 'the practitioner becomes a facilitator of opportunities in which
young people can work collaboratively on projects or activities' ( Mackinnon, 2013 p13) . Once the
groups had discussed their ideas they relayed what they had learnt as one large group, sometimes
sharing personal experiences which showed how confident and at ease they

Young Woman By Ella Thomas Essay
Another young woman, Ella Thomas, described her pregnancy in a manner that further complicates
interpreting historical pregnancy. While having a miscarriage, Ella describes herself as sick but does
not appear to be bothered by the event. Despite experiencing symptoms such as fatigue, Ella does
not describe her pregnancy within these terms. If anything, she finds her symptoms a nuisance
(Thomas). Furthermore, her own pregnancy has led her to sympathize with other pregnant women.
She mentions in the diary that if she had "sole management" of a plantation that "pregnant women
would be highly favored...whether black of white" (Thomas). The distinction of "sole management"
here is fascinating because it implies that her husband would not be in charge in this case, and that if
he were in charge he would be less likely to show favor to pregnant women because he personally
could not understand the experience (Thomas).
Eventually, Ella becomes worried for her health when more serious symptoms begin to manifest.
Her symptoms are so severe that she they "frighten [her] with fears of sickness" and cause her to call
for her doctor. She notes however, that her physician Dr. Edward Eve does nothing to help her or to
alleviate her symptoms. Days later, her pregnancy miscarries, which she colloquially refers to as an
"abortion" (Thomas). Despite the bodily trauma, Ella's diary entries continues in good spirits. The
actual miscarriage, she notes, did not scare her, it only

should be aware of their organisation's policy on the giving and receiving of gifts. Communication
with Children and Young People (including the Use of Technology) : Communication between
children and adults, by whatever method, should take place within clear and explicit professional
boundaries. This includes the wider use of technology such as mobile phones text messaging, e–

around a town in the South East of England. The town, named Thamestown by the authors. The area
in which Thamestown is location, is described as a predominantly white, wealthy middle class area
of the south east of England. Between June 1994 and July 1995 Watt, Stenson and other researchers

this giving a patchy investigation of young female's perspectives in this chapter. Furthermore, the
interviewers in this research were mainly female, six females and one male. Female respondents are
more likely to be more open with female interviewers. The four transcripts from female respondents
in this chapter, were of importance to this research, nevertheless, there could have been further
questions, for example "Where I feel really at home is streetville. . . I feel safer when there's more
Asians and when I know them (Asian female, aged 18)" (p. 257). Why does this Asian female not
feel safe anywhere else in thamestown? Did this young Asian female experience racial harassment
in other areas of thamestown? Also in the chapter "one 18–year–old black female indicated that her
feelings of safety were in fact predicated upon venturing very far out of home territory" (p. 256)
Consequently, no further discussion as to why this 18–year–old black female has feelings of safety
coming away from her home territory. However, notes at the end of this chapter stated that "We

Does Light Behave Like a Particle or Like a Wave?
Does light behave like a particle, or does it behave like a wave? Thomas Young found the answer to
this in the Double Slit Experiment. Many scientists before Thomas had their own theories, which
fell short and never quite explained light to its full potential. This report about Young's Double Slit
Experiment will describe why it was created, how it was tested and the end result. To begin, the
Double Slit Experiment was brought about by a man named Thomas Young. Young brought up his
idea matching with Isaac Newton's theory of how light works. Young said instead being composed
of corpuscles, light was made of waves and thought it to be similar to how sound works. Later,
Young read more of Newton's theories about light and realized light did not just go straight through
objects, but instead bounces off other matter such as water and air, similar to sound bouncing off
walls. Young also predicted light makes an interference pattern across an object due to the fact light
waves intensify when crossed with another. In 1801, Young put Newton's theories to the test with his
Double Slit Experiment and proved light does act like a wave (Chodos). Next, Young tested how
light worked in his Double Slit Experiment, which dealt with light and how it behaves when put
through certain tests. Young tested some properties of light by shining it through boards with slits in
them and using a blank screen on the other end of the slits. He started with a single slit on a board
and shined light

Teenage Wasteland By Thomas Hine
Teenagers: A Threat to Adults
A common phrase that adults can testify to hearing from any given teenager is, "You don't
understand!" This proves a struggle between the youth and the adults that quite possibly is never–
ending. Adults make assumptions about kids, based on the way they dress, which pushes kids further
and further away. In the essay, "Goths in Tomorrowland" by Thomas Hine (2001), he emphasizes
the beliefs that adults began the idea of youth alienation from older societies and the teenagers keep
it that way. Donna Gaine's (2001) essay, "Teenage Wasteland," discusses four teenagers who were
mocked and misunderstood by adults and reporters alike. Jon Katz (2001) lets the kids explain
themselves about their seclusion from society and the misconceptions about them in his column,
"More from the Hellmouth: Kids Tell About Rage." The fear that elders show towards young people
is merely a fear of the unknown. Adults are worried about the younger generations because of their
misunderstandings of the youth culture, their failure to accept youth into the adult society, and the
instigation provoked from young people.
Misunderstanding of youth creates the gap between adults and teenagers. Many teenagers spend
their whole teen experience searching for someone to just understand them. A lot of them do not
even make it through this experience because they give up feeling that no one knows what they are
going through. Parents also fear for their kids because they do not

Thomas Young: The Discovery Of Lights Nature
The complex journey to discover lights nature begins in the 1800s on (as I like to imagine) a bright,
sunny day when man named Thomas Young performed an experiment. In this experiment Young
shone a light through narrow slits, and then shone that light through two very narrow slits. If light is
made up of particles, then the particles should pass straight through the slits and produce two light
stripes on the screen, approximately the same size as the slit. On the other hand, if light is a wave,
then the two waves emerging from the two slits will interfere with each other and produce a pattern
of many stripes, not just two. Young observed many stripes clearly indicating light is infact a wave.
James Clerk Maxwell determined that light is an electromagnetic wave: a wave of oscillating
electric and magnetic fields. When Heinrich Hertz experimentally confirmed Maxwell's result It
seemed that the case was settled and light is indeed a wave, however this is not where lights journey
ends. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Albert Einstein carried Planck's discovery one step further when he applied it the "photoelectric
effect." When light is shone on a metal surface, electrons can be ejected from that surface. This is
called the photoelectric effect. Without going into detail, if light is a wave, as Young showed, then
certain features of the photoelectric effect seemed impossible. What Einstein showed is that if one
assumes that light is made up of particles, and if these particles have the properties described by
Planck for his small bursts of light, then the photoelectric effect makes

Social Marketing For Public Health
Interestingly, a key focus in Cheng, Kotler and Lee's 'Social Marketing for Public Health' book
remains not only relevant but significant in current social marketing interventions. The authors'
discussion of public health issues found that for such social issues to experience a behavioural
change, "no single agency is able to make a dent by itself," (Cheng, Kotler, and Lee, 2011) hence it
was recognised that a global trend in using 'partnerships' at; "local, national or international levels"
is a better way to enforce individuals to get involved (Cheng, Kotler, and Lee, 2011).
At present, the five–year ambition to introduce early intervention services through psychological
therapies remain encouraged by policy–makers, in the belief that the more awareness for the project
at a local scale, will help reduce "the stigma and discrimination that surrounds mental health"
(Gov.uk, 2015) and encourage more people to speak out and seek the medical support they need.
(Gov.uk, 2015). The NHS programme runs through the partnership of Child & Adolescent Mental
Health Services (CAMHS) to actively focus on the needs of children and young people by offering
assessment and treatment for those who may suffer from emotional, behavioural, or mental health
difficulties.
Prior to the financial increase in psychological therapies, the programme ran a pilot scheme in 2011
to test out whether the intervention was able to benefit "those struggling with stress, anxiety or
depression"

Without light, life on Earth would not exist. It is the most essential component in all of the universe
and it is very complex. In 1799, Thomas Young began to study sight and the behavior of light,
otherwise known as optics. During his time, Young made many scientific advancements in the field
of optics that have impacted the world we know today. This report will be discussing the topic of
Thomas Young's Double–Slit Experiment. Take note of the diagrams as presented in paragraphs one
and three. The main ideas of this topic are the properties of light, the interference of light, and the
details that make up Young's experiment. To start off, light has many complex properties. Light has
the property of waves in the form of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this experiment, a source of light shines on a screen in which there are two extremely narrow
slits, the light that passes through these slits is shown on another screen as shown below.
When Young observed the phenomenon that occurred during this experiment with light particles, it
made him question whether this same phenomenon would occur with matter particles as well. When
he tested this, he fired a stream of electrons at a cathode–ray tube screen. The electrons made a
single strike on the screen just like the photons did, and this time, if the electron stream was slowed
to about one per second then the interference pattern stayed the same, and even built up with time.
When the experiment was slowed to let only a single electron through the slit, would it still be able
to interfere with something? There would not be two waves to be destructively or constructively
interfered with. Young observed that the electron seemed to be interfering with itself; the properties
of the waves were interfering with its own wave. The only way to explain this occurrence is to
completely throw out the idea that a photon or an electron has a location. The microscopic world of
photons and electrons cannot be observed directly. In order to observe an electron, at least one
photon of light must bounce off of the electron and then back to the human eye. The fact that
electrons are so small means that when the photon bounces off, it changes the

Providing the basis of nineteenth century physics, Young's...
Providing the basis of nineteenth century physics, Young's Double Slit Experiment proved that light
was made up of waves. During Thomas Young's time, it was very difficult to describe the behavior
of light. The predominant theory was that light was made up of particles. However, in his
experiment, Young was able to observe the interaction of light waves when passed through two slits,
showing the wave–like nature of light. This report will cover the reasons for Young's experiment, the
experiment itself, and its implications. The question Thomas Young sought to resolve was whether
light was made of a stream of particles or waves. Sir Isaac Newton, a strong proponent of the
particle theory, showed that a white light beam passing through ... Show more content on

The places where the tops meet create the bright spots and the places where the waves cancel each
other out creates the dark spots. Therefore, Young's experiment showed that light had a wave–like
nature. Concluding that light was wave–like in behavior, Thomas Young was able to develop an
equation that relates a light's wavelength, the separation between slits, the distance between the slits
and the screen, and fringe spacing. The results of Young's experiment confused physicists because
they didn't know how light could travel in particles and behave like a wave. Believing that the
results were because a group of particles formed a wave, physicists repeated the experiment but shot
one photon at a time. However, the screen continued to reflect an interference pattern, confirming
the wave theory once again. To physicists, this was impossible. Therefore, they attempted to
determine which slit the photon went through. However, when a detector was placed in the
experiment, the resulting pattern changed. Physicists concluded that light can behave as both a
particle and a wave, and is influenced by the experiment and observations. In summation, Young's
Double Slit Experiment showed that light could behave like a wave not just a particle, making a way
for physicists to delve deeper into quantum mechanics. Physicists were able to use

Dylan Thomas To An Athlete Dying Young
How do most people, in general, feel about death? Are they calm, scared, indifferent? In Dylan
Thomas' poem, "Do not go gentle into that good night" and A.E Housman's poem, "To An Athlete
Dying Young" the poets use literary devices to portray their different perspectives on death. In
Thomas' poem, he creates a sense of injustice and anger towards the perceived death of his father.
Housman, on the other hand, has a more serene outlook on the event even though it still depicts
sadness.
The metaphors used in Thomas' poem show his resistance and rage on accepting his father's death.
"Rage, rage against the dying of the light (Thomas l.3)." is an example of just how much he needs
his father to fight, if not for himself then for Thomas. When he says,

Essay on The Portrayal of Youth in the Media
The Portrayal of Youth in the Media
Introduction
I am going to write a peace of coursework on how young children and the media portrays young
adults. I will see how different media pieces give their views on how the youth of today and how
they portray them as thugs and disturbers of the peace or as obliging but misunderstood people.
Development
I am going to study the two pieces of media. The first one I will analyse is an article by BBC news
Online: UK which was realest on Wednesday 20th of March 2002, the other piece is an article from
Edinburgh evening news. It was written by Bernadette Monagham, it was released on Friday 27th
August 2004 the first article is about how two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The writer also uses past criminal offence that they have been charged for like 'the brothers appeared
before flax Bourton magistrates after breaching behaviour orders imposed two years ago. They were
prohibited to go in the town centre and they broke the ban many many times. The writer only looked
at the boys from one angle, he only writes about how bad they are and giving the impression that
they should be locked up somewhere, anywhere.
Further development 2
The second article is telling that how much crimes rates are decreasing, not increasing and how
tagging young offenders send the wrong message to the public. Ms Monagham gives the message
that youth crime is decreasing and that the public are only concerned with the crimes that are going
on and not enough concern for how much crime has decreased by youths. It also speaks about how
offenders come from a background of no love given to them by there families. It says that young
offenders haven't been given much attention and they commit crimes to have some attention of
people and especially by their families. The attitude towards this article is that it is trying to put
across the message that youth crimes are decreasing and the approach that the writer is using is by
giving an example of a 10 year old and asking if it if fair to prosecuting someone of such a young
age and what affects it will have on that person

What Is Reality?
What is reality? Is it something that shapes us and alters our entire life and everything around us or
is reality something that we create? That's a question that puzzles a lot of us but one guy in
particular was puzzled a lot. His name was Thomas Young and he discovered that the laws of
quantum mechanics can sometimes be altered just by looking at them. In this essay I talk about how
Young devised and executed an experiment that was very interesting because it made discoveries in
light waves, particle duality, and what reality is.
For centuries people have questioned if light is a particle or a wave. In fact in the late sixteen
hundreds newton stated that light is a particle. Also at the same time period a Dutch physics by the
name of Christiaan Huygens claimed that light was a wave. But in the early eighteen hundreds
Thomas Young decided he was going to devised a plan on how to test it. Mr. Young invented the
double slit experiment but before someone can they need to understand how particles and waves act.
Let's imagine you have a gun that shoots marbles at a wall with a slit in it. On the other side of the
wall there is another wall with a line in is showing where the marbles hit it. Now let's imagine the
same thing again but with two slits. What happens? Well two lines with show up on the back wall of
course because the marbles shoot in one direction and shoot straight through one of the slits and into
the wall. Well what if we try the same thing but with waves. If we

Living Here Was Nothing Special
I live in a small town called Ocean City, New Jersey. To me, living here was nothing special.
Ironically, anytime I say that is where I'm from I hear, "Wait, you live in Ocean City?! That is my
favorite place in the world. We go there every summer!" How can a place be a bother to someone
and an amazing get away to another? I went to Ocean City High School, where I could walk five
feet to the beach. Who could hate that? I sure could. I begged my parents to let me transfer my first
two years. I went to a Catholic school from kindergarten through 8th grade while everyone else at
my school attended the public middle schools in the area, which meant that everyone was already
friends and I had to make new ones. This was my first time ever in public schooling, and I felt like a
lost fish in the sea. Obviously things got better and I ended up making some of the best friendships
that I know will last a lifetime, but I still can't deny that I thought I could say June 18th, 2015,
graduation, was going to be the best day of my life. Then things changed. This summer I worked on
the beach and was never done later than 12:00, so I went every single day after I clocked out. To say
I gained an appreciation for where I live would be an understatement. There is nothing more
relaxing than hearing the crashes of the big blue waves slowly putting me to sleep as I lay in the
warm sun. I was slowly beginning to realize why everyone loves this place so much. Excitement for

Young's Double Slit Experiment to help understand a small part of the modern physics world. In the
modern physics world there are many phenomena that are unexplainable just like Young's Double
Slit Experiment. In Young's Double Slit Experiment, he wanted to prove whether light is a wave or a
particle. This might seem to be rather simplistic but, in all reality, it is anything but simple. A
particle, when passed through a vertical slit, will form a vertical line on an object that is on the other
side of the slit and when you add another slit it will form a similar vertical line that is separated by
about the same distance as the slits are separated. It will look something like this: A wave, when
passed through a vertical slit, will form spaced lines on the object with the most prominent line,
which has the most intensity, being in line with the center of the slit through which the wave passed
and when you add another slit it created an interference pattern from which the waves collide with
each other and either cancel the wave out or create stronger waves depending upon whether or not
the wave is

A child with learning problems may be many developmental years behind their peers, this will have
a big impact on what they can do in all areas of development including physical skills, social skills
and intellectual skills. They may find it especially hard to interact with children of the same age or
stay interested in conversation. They may also need to have one–to–one lessons at school to help
educate them as they may not be at the same cognitive stage as peers. This may leave them feeling
left out. Children and young people are influenced by physical factors, environmental factors, social

Why It Is Important For Work With The Child Or Young Person?
Task 21. Explain why it is important to work with the child or young person to ensure they have
strategies to protect themselves and make decisions about safety.
Children in school gain academic and other life skills which engages them to understand various
situations including knowledge about health and safety and how to protect themselves from any
possible danger. Teaching staff plays vital role in making them aware about their own safety.
In Early years reading variety of stories where children can relate to the book character can help
them understand what can cause problem to safety or how to solve problems and where and how to
seek the help. Asking questions to make think what went wrong what will you do if you are in such
situations etc. helps them strategize ways to protect themselves. For e.g. after reading a story where
a young girl opens the door to a tiger and the tiger finishes all the food in her house. Asking
questions like who opens the door at your home? If parents are not around should you open the
door? Why you should not open the door? which supports their decision making about safety.
In learning setting teachers can discuss news reports, situations, facts which can inform pupil about
safety and provide opportunities to debate about possible outcomes of similar situations and
different strategies that individual supports. Discussions/debates are perfect to find out various
possible ways to protect themselves.
This also encourages them to trust their

Agree or Disagree
Essay Topic: Do you agree or disagree? "It is sometimes important for people to do things that they
do not enjoy doing."
To lead a successful life, one must be able to tackle difficult situations and overcome obstacles. In
doing so, we must face with tasks that we do not find to be pleasant but difficult, painful, and
uncomfortable. For example, a university student must devote much time to study, research, and
prepare for exams instead of doing more enjoyable activities such as: socializing with friends,
playing sports, partying, etc. In my opinion, it is very important for everybody, regardless of
occupation, to do things we do not enjoy in order to be successful.

Apparently, forbidden fruit is sweetest, and though many young people have wasted their invaluable
time on trivial things and bad stuff like drug, gambling and crime, many of them have managed to
get up and begin from scratch. I myself admire that, their youth then is not wasted too much but
used in a particular way.
Nowadays, with the development of the world in many fields, the contribution of the young is very
important. The society needs to pay attention to orienting the young, keeping them aware of their
own worth. Only by doing so can we make the young do the right thing in the right way.
Do You Agree Or disagree: Young People Enjoy Life more Than Older People?
Personally, from a common sense, I agree with the statement. Before I write down the main point,
I'd like to clarify what is "enjoying life". Actually, different people hold different opinions towards
the real life meaning, let alone the way about how to enjoy life. In this essay, I want to confine the
meaning of enjoying life to the extent of how happy the people are in the life. Then we may draw
some conclusions about it.
Firstly, I have to say that young people have more energy and time to pursue their dreams. The
process of struggling is just the way young people totally enjoy life. However, older people usually

Analysis Of Denis Friske 's Narrative Approach Essay
Question 1
Denis–Friske's narrative approach states sanctions people as experts in their own life which
effectively empowers them in their self–perspective and counseling relationship (2014). Through
storytelling, clients impacted by traumatic are allowed the opportunity to narrate their own
experiences as a process of emotional and psychological catharsis. In enabling people as experts
over their own life, child and youth care counselors do not dictate what they ought to do in their
process of overcoming traumatic or crisis experiences but act as guidance figures in client's lives
towards their healing (Denis–Friske, 2014). As victims of abuse, giving people the time and space to
create their own meanings in narrative making and focus on their inner character's strength and
resiliency, people are made experts of their own lives by authoring their own stories and taking into
control how they want to perceive their situation – in spite of adversity, strength can be recovered
from deep within.
It is important that counselors empower clients as experts of their own lives because it gives them
autonomy and this will be beneficial when the counseling relationship eventually comes to a close.
When clients recount their own stories from their individual perspectives, agendas, and beliefs, this
is powerful and significant because no one else can testify about their own life better than they can.
Storytelling reweaves people's perspective to see their potential for strength, renewal

How Schools Put These Into Place Essay
How schools put these into place:
At Moorlands Primary we have our own safeguarding policy in which we have and must follow at
all times regarding to the safety of all the children, If I was to ever have a cause for concern for a
child inside of school, I would fill out the cause for concern sheet. Once I have completed this form
it has to be signed and dated straight away from the schools Senior Designated Person (SDP). Any
of the information noted must be kept in a separate named file and in a secure cabinet, not with the
child's educational file. These files with then be the responsibility of the SPD. The child's
information will be shared within the school only if it is in the "need to know" basis and in the
child's strictest interests and making sure that it will always be kept confidential.
The child's information will only be kept in this file and must be kept up to date with all records of
concern. Copies of referrals, invitations to the child protection conferences, core groups and reports
will also be stored here.
When the child has left the school, the SDP has to contact the new school to make sure that the file
is despatched to the new school in a secure and appropriate manner and that the evidence is retained
to validate how the file was reassigned. This may be done by having a written confirmation of
receipt, have evidence of a recorded delivery or both.

the other hand to stir the cassava flour on fire, and at the same time, weaving a basket at intervals.
She has it in mind to sell the basket in the market on the next market day. How pathetic it will be for

Essay on Sports Specialization
Sports Specialization
Sports are a popular pastime among all ages and types of people. People not only participate in them
for fun, but also for money, physical fitness, rush of competition, and for many other personal
reasons. Playing sports is especially common among young people in schools. Athletics are great
and enjoyable for many reasons, but there can be a point where sports participation can go too far
and become negative for children and adults. Sports specialization for young people is an increasing
trend that results in sports having a negative impact on individuals and society.

The fact that young people now have the opportunity to get into professional sports at a younger age
now encourages this trend. If a young person is very successful at a sport, the media will rave on
about them and the publicity will only force them to work harder. Freddy Adu, a thirteen–year–old
soccer sensation, is getting large amounts of publicity for his remarkable skills (Goodall, 2003). He
has been featured in Sports Illustrated where he was referred to as "the prodigy of American soccer"
(Wahl, 2003). Newsweek has also included articles about this remarkable soccer player, calling him
"a preteen phenom" (Starr, 2004). ESPN Soccernet also reported information about his amazing
skills (Goodall, 2003). The publicity of Adu is making this young athlete a star and keeping other
young athletes focused on similar opportunities for themselves.
All of the publicity that is attained by success, and the possibility of this success, places a great deal
of pressure and stress on these young single–sport athletes. This stress and pressure takes the fun out
of some sports. Youth sports are becoming serious and based more on winning than on having a
great time and learning good sportsmanship. Adu points out the winning mindset of athletes in this
day and age when he says, "Teams will do anything to win the game. My coach told me to expect
that going in and that is exactly how it was. . .I felt like everybody was out to get me" (Goodall,

The Concepts Of At Risk And Risk Of Young People 's Lives...
Introduction
The concepts of 'at–risk' and 'risk' are prominent in much of the literature on the sociology of youth.
The objective of this essay is to explore the positive and negative sides of focusing on risk in young
people's lives, and contend that although the concepts may help us to understand youth behaviours,
there is a need to be cautious in its implementation, as they carry a number of implicit assumptions.
Firstly, the approaches of 'at–risk' and 'risk taking' are defined; in order to understand the different
ways the concepts are related to young people. These positive aspects include of the identification of
'at–risk' youth for prevention measures and Stephen Lyng's edgework notion to comprehend
individuals' voluntary 'risk taking'. Secondly, discussions the usefulness of the concepts in
promoting our comprehension of young individuals' behaviours are provided. Lastly, limitations of
the approaches are discussed to highlight the precautions needed when applying the concepts, as it
may lead to placing the blame on 'at–risk' youth, higher degree of scrutiny for young women than
their men and the normalised assumption on behalf of the 'risk taking' notion.
The concepts of 'at–risk' and 'risk taking'
There are two main concepts in the literatures of the sociology of youth, which linked risk and
young people together. The first concept is 'at–risk' and the term is often used to identify or describe
young people who, due to difficulties and disadvantaged situations,

Analysis Of Thomas King 's Borders, The Young Boy And His...
Generational gaps exist amongst all cultures. Some however, are more detrimental than others. In
Thomas King's Borders, the young boy and his sister when compared to their mother reveals a
striking example of not only a generational gap, but a cultural gap between newer generations of
First Nations Peoples and their parents. Borders clearly emphasizes the influence that Western
society and culture has on young Aboriginal Canadians not only in terms of tradition, but Aboriginal
identity as well.
The degree in which Aboriginal identity is explored within King's short story is bold, yet contains
subtleties pertaining to the mindset of the younger generation. While identity on the mothers behalf

His young age brings about the argument that he simply isn't old enough to understand his own
heritage and the value that his culture holds. However, there are several points within the story that
highlight the generational differences in values.
For one, the mothers irrepressible demeanour. Most apparent during confrontations at the Couttes
border, King paints a true picture of what it means to be proud of who you are, regardless of the
ongoing influences of Western society and culture. Her repeated claim of a Blackfoot citizenship,
regardless of the resulting delays, shows that she will not give up the most important thing to her;
Identity. The mothers portrayal of Aboriginal dignity is also apparent through the subtle convincing
of her daughter to stay on the reserve. Aboriginal identity is not just about tradition and language,
but about place. In a study conducted by Kathleen Wilson (2003) of McMaster University, an
overwhelming percentage of the indigenous community claimed that "the land, as place, is an
integral park of First Nations peoples identity and health"(p.83). With a long history of colonization
and Western pressures, it's no surprise that the mother wishes to keep her family close to the land
they currently inhabit. Aboriginal identity of older generations is very much about reclaiming as
much of your history and culture as possible, allowing it to continue and hopefully thrive.

Now, the next question most people have is, if everything is made of tiny vibrating particles and

way and do we all see the same things?
A perfect question. This is another totally crucial part of the jigsaw to understanding who you are

So back to the question, do we all see the same things? Yes and no, here is why.
Everything in our world has its own energy information blueprint that has the potential to form an
image/object.
Now remember at this point nothing is manifest UNITIL we put our focus on it. When we put our
focused expectations on it, ONLY then will it become manifest.
It is a personal creation process that is guided either by your old programmed beliefs or by your
personal conscious creation to form your world.
Everything in this world is energy potential until we manifest it into form. This includes emotions,
health, relationships, finances, and friends, every one of our experiences.
You can take this expectation and manifestation process and apply it to every area of your life.
Positive thinking can transform negative programmed behaviour into positive expectations. This is

Policies and procedures are set of guidelines and rules put in place by the government to ensure the

children and young people is fully aware of policies and procedures put in place in their setting and

l. Wolfe chooses to surprise the reader in his story, when one day Dick goes on a shooting rampage

style of writing is unique when compared to Wolfe's because the conflict arises quickly and is at the
forefront throughout. With the conflict constantly on the mind of the reader one can relate to
Goodman Brown and sympathize with his disappointing conclusion. IV. Conclusion m. By reading
these two stories in comparison one can extract the unison in theme, conflict and each author's

  • 3. Does Light Propagate Or Move? Since the beginning of time, people have longed to uncover the mystery of light. Specifically, how does light propagate–or move? Interestingly, people still do not understand the first thing God ever created, and perhaps never will. Nevertheless, it is important to continue studying to further learn about Creation. For thousands of years, scientists and philosophers have endeavored to answer this question. In relatively recent history, scientists have developed the wave theory, particle theory, and the theory of particle–wave duality. Each individual theory of light has its own strengths and weaknesses and has sparked heated debate throughout the scientific community. The story starts in the 5th century BC. Empedocles, a Greek philosopher, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, the speed of light has been measured at roughly 670 million miles per hour (Wile 365). With some math, scientists have learned that light can travel the circumference of earth approximately 7 times each second and that it takes around 8 minutes for the sun's rays to reach earth. Scientists can now calculate the wavelength, which is the distance between two crests, and frequency of a light wave, but also the energy of a photon at the same time and use the values interchangeably (Wile pp. 352 and 373). The electromagnetic spectrum, the collection of all forms of light, shows that visible light is only a small fraction of all light. The spectrum ranges from energetic gamma, X–ray, and ultraviolet radiation to relatively low–energy light waves such as infrared, microwave, radar, TV, and FM and AM radio. Visible light, also known as the visible spectrum, sits between ultraviolet and infrared. It is the only portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that humans can see (Wile 370). Although much of the spectrum is unperceivable to the eye, it has numerous uses. For example, X–rays are used to find broken bones and treat cancer, infrared light is used in remote controls, microwaves heat food, and FM and AM waves are used in ... Mine Shack ___________________________________ There was a single bullet shot within his body; right in the center of the chest. There are scares that show that the body was dragged on the rough road. The expression is clear to say as he is shocked which says that the killer was someone un expected. Mrs. Young is taking the death of her husband better than anyone who was close to him. She has not let any emotions come on her face. As the police say that the position the killer was standing directly in front of Thomas. For them it would be a clear shot. But from the bullet hole it look like an amateur fired the gun. • 7. Summary Of Young Adults And Higher Education By Thomas Brock Young Adults and Higher Education by Thomas Brock focuses on issues in our postsecondary education system. Brock believes that modifications need to be made to colleges and argues that there are three areas in need of a transformation for students to succeed in college. According to Brock the three areas in need of the most attention is remedial education, student support services, and financial aid. If changes are made in each of these areas, improvements will be shown in students. He believes that changes will result in an improvement in student's attendance, persistence, and completion. Brock begins with background information and discusses the importance of college today. He gives facts such as those who attend college or have a bachelor's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I agree that things need to change so students can advance in college. College is very important for most to make a decent living but without reforms being made many students never enroll and the ones enrolled often drop out or fail classes. Students today like Brock mentioned need help with attendance, persistence, and completion. One issue mentioned was remedial education. I disagree with Brock in some ways on his ideas about remedial education. I do agree that schools should put effort into helping these students and come up with programs such as opening doors. But I don't think colleges are to blame for remedial education, students should not be entering college if they are not able to keep up with college curriculum. I think the problem is occurring in high school, when a student receives a high school diploma they should be prepared for college work not making up for high school level curriculum. When a student enrolls in college they need to already be prepared for higher education, but unfortunately 42% of students in community college are taking remedial courses. A high school diploma should guarantee that the student is prepared for college– level work, but it doesn't. I strongly agree with Brocks ideas on guidance counseling and believe it needs serious work. Many students especially in community colleges have very limited access to see a counselor and Brock said many don't even have an orientation at the beginning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Physics Of Quantum Mechanics Quantum mechanics was developed over many decades ago,Quantum mechanics is science dealing with the behaviour of matter and light on the atomic and subatomic scale. It attempts to describe and account for the properties of molecules and atoms and their constituents–electrons, protons, neutrons, and other more particles. This type of physics beginning as a set of controversial mathematical explanations of experiments that the math of classical mechanics could not explain. It began at the turn of the 20th century, around the same time that Albert Einstein published his theory of relativity, a separate mathematical revolution in physics that describes the motion of things at high speeds. Unlike relativity, however, the origins of quantum mechanics cannot be attributed to any one scientist. Rather, multiple scientists contributed to a foundation of three revolutionary principles that gradually gained acceptance and experimental verification between 1900 and 1930. One experiment that is known in this field of physics is the double slit experiment. The double–slit experiment is a demonstration that light and matter can display characteristics of both regular defined waves and particles; in addition, it displays the fundamentally probabilistic nature of quantum mechanical occurrence. A simpler form of the double–slit experiment was performed originally by Thomas Young in 1801. He believed it demonstrated that the wave theory of light was correct and his experiment is ... Scott and Jean's Icebreaker activities serve several different purposes, the first of which being to encourage the group to come together as a whole and get to know one another. The initial activity did a fabulous job of encouraging the youngsters to introduce themselves to their peers in a fun and non intimidating way. It 'broke the ice' (LGBT Youth Scotland clips 2–6). If the introductions had been done with a greater amount ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Informal education is totally different to the type of education that takes place within schools. Young people are not taught the objectives defined by a teacher as they would be in a classroom, they are encouraged to work things out for themselves as an active learner. An educator's role in informal education is 'to create situations in which young people can identify their own goals for learning' (Mackinnon, 2013 p13). In this instance (LGBT activity) the students were placed in small groups and given the agenda i.e. where they would like Peer Education to be in two months time. From this they worked together to discuss and identify the skills and barriers involved in peer education. However they did not sit in a group around a table as you would expect to find with group activities taking place in a school, instead they grouped using the furniture and floor space around the room in an informal manner and discussed issues within their group rather than being directed by Scott or Jean whose input was merely to work around the groups asking relevant questions to encourage independent thinking therefore 'the practitioner becomes a facilitator of opportunities in which young people can work collaboratively on projects or activities' ( Mackinnon, 2013 p13) . • 13. Young Woman By Ella Thomas Essay Another young woman, Ella Thomas, described her pregnancy in a manner that further complicates interpreting historical pregnancy. While having a miscarriage, Ella describes herself as sick but does not appear to be bothered by the event. Despite experiencing symptoms such as fatigue, Ella does not describe her pregnancy within these terms. If anything, she finds her symptoms a nuisance (Thomas). Furthermore, her own pregnancy has led her to sympathize with other pregnant women. She mentions in the diary that if she had "sole management" of a plantation that "pregnant women would be highly favored...whether black of white" (Thomas). The distinction of "sole management" here is fascinating because it implies that her husband would not be in charge in this case, and that if he were in charge he would be less likely to show favor to pregnant women because he personally could not understand the experience (Thomas). Eventually, Ella becomes worried for her health when more serious symptoms begin to manifest. Her symptoms are so severe that she they "frighten [her] with fears of sickness" and cause her to call for her doctor. She notes however, that her physician Dr. Edward Eve does nothing to help her or to alleviate her symptoms. Days later, her pregnancy miscarries, which she colloquially refers to as an "abortion" (Thomas). Despite the bodily trauma, Ella's diary entries continues in good spirits. The actual miscarriage, she notes, did not scare her, it only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The town, named Thamestown by the authors. The area in which Thamestown is location, is described as a predominantly white, wealthy middle class area of the south east of England. Between June 1994 and July 1995 Watt, Stenson and other researchers investigated, how an ethnically mixed group of young people use public spaces in terms of danger and safety. • 19. Does Light Behave Like a Particle or Like a Wave? Does light behave like a particle, or does it behave like a wave? Thomas Young found the answer to this in the Double Slit Experiment. Many scientists before Thomas had their own theories, which fell short and never quite explained light to its full potential. This report about Young's Double Slit Experiment will describe why it was created, how it was tested and the end result. To begin, the Double Slit Experiment was brought about by a man named Thomas Young. Young brought up his idea matching with Isaac Newton's theory of how light works. Young said instead being composed of corpuscles, light was made of waves and thought it to be similar to how sound works. Later, Young read more of Newton's theories about light and realized light did not just go straight through objects, but instead bounces off other matter such as water and air, similar to sound bouncing off walls. Young also predicted light makes an interference pattern across an object due to the fact light waves intensify when crossed with another. In 1801, Young put Newton's theories to the test with his Double Slit Experiment and proved light does act like a wave (Chodos). Next, Young tested how light worked in his Double Slit Experiment, which dealt with light and how it behaves when put through certain tests. Young tested some properties of light by shining it through boards with slits in them and using a blank screen on the other end of the slits. He started with a single slit on a board and shined light ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. Teenage Wasteland By Thomas Hine Teenagers: A Threat to Adults A common phrase that adults can testify to hearing from any given teenager is, "You don't understand!" This proves a struggle between the youth and the adults that quite possibly is never– ending. Adults make assumptions about kids, based on the way they dress, which pushes kids further and further away. In the essay, "Goths in Tomorrowland" by Thomas Hine (2001), he emphasizes the beliefs that adults began the idea of youth alienation from older societies and the teenagers keep it that way. Donna Gaine's (2001) essay, "Teenage Wasteland," discusses four teenagers who were mocked and misunderstood by adults and reporters alike. Jon Katz (2001) lets the kids explain themselves about their seclusion from society and the misconceptions about them in his column, "More from the Hellmouth: Kids Tell About Rage." The fear that elders show towards young people is merely a fear of the unknown. Adults are worried about the younger generations because of their misunderstandings of the youth culture, their failure to accept youth into the adult society, and the instigation provoked from young people. Misunderstanding of youth creates the gap between adults and teenagers. Many teenagers spend their whole teen experience searching for someone to just understand them. A lot of them do not even make it through this experience because they give up feeling that no one knows what they are going through. Parents also fear for their kids because they do not ... • 26. Thomas Young: The Discovery Of Lights Nature The complex journey to discover lights nature begins in the 1800s on (as I like to imagine) a bright, sunny day when man named Thomas Young performed an experiment. In this experiment Young shone a light through narrow slits, and then shone that light through two very narrow slits. If light is made up of particles, then the particles should pass straight through the slits and produce two light stripes on the screen, approximately the same size as the slit. On the other hand, if light is a wave, then the two waves emerging from the two slits will interfere with each other and produce a pattern of many stripes, not just two. Young observed many stripes clearly indicating light is infact a wave. James Clerk Maxwell determined that light is an electromagnetic wave: a wave of oscillating electric and magnetic fields. When Heinrich Hertz experimentally confirmed Maxwell's result It seemed that the case was settled and light is indeed a wave, however this is not where lights journey ends. ... Social Marketing For Public Health Interestingly, a key focus in Cheng, Kotler and Lee's 'Social Marketing for Public Health' book remains not only relevant but significant in current social marketing interventions. The authors' discussion of public health issues found that for such social issues to experience a behavioural change, "no single agency is able to make a dent by itself," (Cheng, Kotler, and Lee, 2011) hence it was recognised that a global trend in using 'partnerships' at; "local, national or international levels" is a better way to enforce individuals to get involved (Cheng, Kotler, and Lee, 2011). At present, the five–year ambition to introduce early intervention services through psychological therapies remain encouraged by policy–makers, in the belief that the more awareness for the project at a local scale, will help reduce "the stigma and discrimination that surrounds mental health" (Gov.uk, 2015) and encourage more people to speak out and seek the medical support they need. (Gov.uk, 2015). The NHS programme runs through the partnership of Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) to actively focus on the needs of children and young people by offering assessment and treatment for those who may suffer from emotional, behavioural, or mental health difficulties. In 1799, Thomas Young began to study sight and the behavior of light, otherwise known as optics. During his time, Young made many scientific advancements in the field of optics that have impacted the world we know today. This report will be discussing the topic of Thomas Young's Double–Slit Experiment. Take note of the diagrams as presented in paragraphs one and three. The main ideas of this topic are the properties of light, the interference of light, and the details that make up Young's experiment. To start off, light has many complex properties. In this experiment, a source of light shines on a screen in which there are two extremely narrow slits, the light that passes through these slits is shown on another screen as shown below. When Young observed the phenomenon that occurred during this experiment with light particles, it made him question whether this same phenomenon would occur with matter particles as well. When he tested this, he fired a stream of electrons at a cathode–ray tube screen. The electrons made a single strike on the screen just like the photons did, and this time, if the electron stream was slowed to about one per second then the interference pattern stayed the same, and even built up with time. When the experiment was slowed to let only a single electron through the slit, would it still be able to interfere with something? There would not be two waves to be destructively or constructively interfered with. Young observed that the electron seemed to be interfering with itself; the properties of the waves were interfering with its own wave. The only way to explain this occurrence is to completely throw out the idea that a photon or an electron has a location. The microscopic world of photons and electrons cannot be observed directly. In order to observe an electron, at least one photon of light must bounce off of the electron and then back to the human eye. The fact that electrons are so small means that when the photon bounces off, it changes the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During Thomas Young's time, it was very difficult to describe the behavior of light. The predominant theory was that light was made up of particles. However, in his experiment, Young was able to observe the interaction of light waves when passed through two slits, showing the wave–like nature of light. This report will cover the reasons for Young's experiment, the experiment itself, and its implications. The question Thomas Young sought to resolve was whether light was made of a stream of particles or waves. Sir Isaac Newton, a strong proponent of the particle theory, showed that a white light beam passing through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The places where the tops meet create the bright spots and the places where the waves cancel each other out creates the dark spots. Therefore, Young's experiment showed that light had a wave–like nature. Concluding that light was wave–like in behavior, Thomas Young was able to develop an equation that relates a light's wavelength, the separation between slits, the distance between the slits and the screen, and fringe spacing. The results of Young's experiment confused physicists because they didn't know how light could travel in particles and behave like a wave. Believing that the results were because a group of particles formed a wave, physicists repeated the experiment but shot one photon at a time. However, the screen continued to reflect an interference pattern, confirming the wave theory once again. To physicists, this was impossible. Therefore, they attempted to determine which slit the photon went through. However, when a detector was placed in the experiment, the resulting pattern changed. Physicists concluded that light can behave as both a particle and a wave, and is influenced by the experiment and observations. In summation, Young's Double Slit Experiment showed that light could behave like a wave not just a particle, making a way for physicists to delve deeper into quantum mechanics. In Dylan Thomas' poem, "Do not go gentle into that good night" and A.E Housman's poem, "To An Athlete Dying Young" the poets use literary devices to portray their different perspectives on death. In Thomas' poem, he creates a sense of injustice and anger towards the perceived death of his father. Housman, on the other hand, has a more serene outlook on the event even though it still depicts sadness. The metaphors used in Thomas' poem show his resistance and rage on accepting his father's death. • 38. What Is Reality? What is reality? Is it something that shapes us and alters our entire life and everything around us or is reality something that we create? That's a question that puzzles a lot of us but one guy in particular was puzzled a lot. His name was Thomas Young and he discovered that the laws of quantum mechanics can sometimes be altered just by looking at them. In this essay I talk about how Young devised and executed an experiment that was very interesting because it made discoveries in light waves, particle duality, and what reality is. For centuries people have questioned if light is a particle or a wave. In fact in the late sixteen hundreds newton stated that light is a particle. Also at the same time period a Dutch physics by the name of Christiaan Huygens claimed that light was a wave. But in the early eighteen hundreds Thomas Young decided he was going to devised a plan on how to test it. Mr. Young invented the double slit experiment but before someone can they need to understand how particles and waves act. Let's imagine you have a gun that shoots marbles at a wall with a slit in it. On the other side of the wall there is another wall with a line in is showing where the marbles hit it. Now let's imagine the same thing again but with two slits. What happens? Well two lines with show up on the back wall of course because the marbles shoot in one direction and shoot straight through one of the slits and into the wall. Well what if we try the same thing but with waves. If we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ironically, anytime I say that is where I'm from I hear, "Wait, you live in Ocean City?! That is my favorite place in the world. We go there every summer!" How can a place be a bother to someone and an amazing get away to another? I went to Ocean City High School, where I could walk five feet to the beach. Who could hate that? I sure could. I begged my parents to let me transfer my first two years. I went to a Catholic school from kindergarten through 8th grade while everyone else at my school attended the public middle schools in the area, which meant that everyone was already friends and I had to make new ones. This was my first time ever in public schooling, and I felt like a lost fish in the sea. Obviously things got better and I ended up making some of the best friendships that I know will last a lifetime, but I still can't deny that I thought I could say June 18th, 2015, graduation, was going to be the best day of my life. Then things changed. This summer I worked on the beach and was never done later than 12:00, so I went every single day after I clocked out. • 42. Is Light a Wave or a Particle? Is light a wave or a particle? This is a question that has been debated for centuries and still is unproven to be only one or the other. This report is about explaining Young's Double Slit Experiment, which tried to prove light as a wave, and the results of his experiment. This report is also to inform and explain the modern physics world, and it will accomplish this by explaining Young's Double Slit Experiment to help understand a small part of the modern physics world. In the modern physics world there are many phenomena that are unexplainable just like Young's Double Slit Experiment. In Young's Double Slit Experiment, he wanted to prove whether light is a wave or a particle. This might seem to be rather simplistic but, in all reality, it is anything but simple. A particle, when passed through a vertical slit, will form a vertical line on an object that is on the other side of the slit and when you add another slit it will form a similar vertical line that is separated by about the same distance as the slits are separated. It will look something like this: A wave, when passed through a vertical slit, will form spaced lines on the object with the most prominent line, which has the most intensity, being in line with the center of the slit through which the wave passed and when you add another slit it created an interference pattern from which the waves collide with each other and either cancel the wave out or create stronger waves depending upon whether or not the wave is ... Explain why it is important to work with the child or young person to ensure they have strategies to protect themselves and make decisions about safety. Children in school gain academic and other life skills which engages them to understand various situations including knowledge about health and safety and how to protect themselves from any possible danger. Teaching staff plays vital role in making them aware about their own safety. In Early years reading variety of stories where children can relate to the book character can help them understand what can cause problem to safety or how to solve problems and where and how to seek the help. Asking questions to make think what went wrong what will you do if you are in such situations etc. helps them strategize ways to protect themselves. For e.g. after reading a story where a young girl opens the door to a tiger and the tiger finishes all the food in her house. Asking questions like who opens the door at your home? If parents are not around should you open the door? Why you should not open the door? which supports their decision making about safety. In learning setting teachers can discuss news reports, situations, facts which can inform pupil about safety and provide opportunities to debate about possible outcomes of similar situations and different strategies that individual supports. Analysis Of Denis Friske 's Narrative Approach Essay Question 1 Denis–Friske's narrative approach states sanctions people as experts in their own life which effectively empowers them in their self–perspective and counseling relationship (2014). Through storytelling, clients impacted by traumatic are allowed the opportunity to narrate their own experiences as a process of emotional and psychological catharsis. In enabling people as experts over their own life, child and youth care counselors do not dictate what they ought to do in their process of overcoming traumatic or crisis experiences but act as guidance figures in client's lives towards their healing (Denis–Friske, 2014). As victims of abuse, giving people the time and space to create their own meanings in narrative making and focus on their inner character's strength and resiliency, people are made experts of their own lives by authoring their own stories and taking into control how they want to perceive their situation – in spite of adversity, strength can be recovered from deep within. It is important that counselors empower clients as experts of their own lives because it gives them autonomy and this will be beneficial when the counseling relationship eventually comes to a close. When clients recount their own stories from their individual perspectives, agendas, and beliefs, this is powerful and significant because no one else can testify about their own life better than they can. How Schools Put These Into Place Essay How schools put these into place: At Moorlands Primary we have our own safeguarding policy in which we have and must follow at all times regarding to the safety of all the children, If I was to ever have a cause for concern for a child inside of school, I would fill out the cause for concern sheet. Once I have completed this form it has to be signed and dated straight away from the schools Senior Designated Person (SDP). Any of the information noted must be kept in a separate named file and in a secure cabinet, not with the child's educational file. These files with then be the responsibility of the SPD. The child's information will be shared within the school only if it is in the "need to know" basis and in the child's strictest interests and making sure that it will always be kept confidential. The child's information will only be kept in this file and must be kept up to date with all records of concern. Copies of referrals, invitations to the child protection conferences, core groups and reports will also be stored here. When the child has left the school, the SDP has to contact the new school to make sure that the file is despatched to the new school in a secure and appropriate manner and that the evidence is retained to validate how the file was reassigned. The fact that young people now have the opportunity to get into professional sports at a younger age now encourages this trend. If a young person is very successful at a sport, the media will rave on about them and the publicity will only force them to work harder. Freddy Adu, a thirteen–year–old soccer sensation, is getting large amounts of publicity for his remarkable skills (Goodall, 2003). He has been featured in Sports Illustrated where he was referred to as "the prodigy of American soccer" (Wahl, 2003). Newsweek has also included articles about this remarkable soccer player, calling him "a preteen phenom" (Starr, 2004). ESPN Soccernet also reported information about his amazing skills (Goodall, 2003). The publicity of Adu is making this young athlete a star and keeping other young athletes focused on similar opportunities for themselves. All of the publicity that is attained by success, and the possibility of this success, places a great deal of pressure and stress on these young single–sport athletes. This stress and pressure takes the fun out of some sports. Youth sports are becoming serious and based more on winning than on having a great time and learning good sportsmanship. Adu points out the winning mindset of athletes in this day and age when he says, "Teams will do anything to win the game. My coach told me to expect that going in and that is exactly how it was. . .I felt like everybody was out to get me" (Goodall, 2003). This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 63. The Concepts Of At Risk And Risk Of Young People 's Lives... Introduction The concepts of 'at–risk' and 'risk' are prominent in much of the literature on the sociology of youth. The objective of this essay is to explore the positive and negative sides of focusing on risk in young people's lives, and contend that although the concepts may help us to understand youth behaviours, there is a need to be cautious in its implementation, as they carry a number of implicit assumptions. Firstly, the approaches of 'at–risk' and 'risk taking' are defined; in order to understand the different ways the concepts are related to young people. These positive aspects include of the identification of 'at–risk' youth for prevention measures and Stephen Lyng's edgework notion to comprehend individuals' voluntary 'risk taking'. Secondly, discussions the usefulness of the concepts in promoting our comprehension of young individuals' behaviours are provided. Lastly, limitations of the approaches are discussed to highlight the precautions needed when applying the concepts, as it may lead to placing the blame on 'at–risk' youth, higher degree of scrutiny for young women than their men and the normalised assumption on behalf of the 'risk taking' notion. In Thomas King's Borders, the young boy and his sister when compared to their mother reveals a striking example of not only a generational gap, but a cultural gap between newer generations of First Nations Peoples and their parents. Borders clearly emphasizes the influence that Western society and culture has on young Aboriginal Canadians not only in terms of tradition, but Aboriginal identity as well. The degree in which Aboriginal identity is explored within King's short story is bold, yet contains subtleties pertaining to the mindset of the younger generation. While identity on the mothers behalf is clear and unaltered by societal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His young age brings about the argument that he simply isn't old enough to understand his own heritage and the value that his culture holds. However, there are several points within the story that highlight the generational differences in values. For one, the mothers irrepressible demeanour. Most apparent during confrontations at the Couttes border, King paints a true picture of what it means to be proud of who you are, regardless of the ongoing influences of Western society and culture. Her repeated claim of a Blackfoot citizenship, regardless of the resulting delays, shows that she will not give up the most important thing to her; Identity. The mothers portrayal of Aboriginal dignity is also apparent through the subtle convincing of her daughter to stay on the reserve. Aboriginal identity is not just about tradition and language, but about place. In a study conducted by Kathleen Wilson (2003) of McMaster University, an overwhelming percentage of the indigenous community claimed that "the land, as place, is an integral park of First Nations peoples identity and health"(p.83). With a long history of colonization and Western pressures, it's no surprise that the mother wishes to keep her family close to the land they currently inhabit. Aboriginal identity of older generations is very much about reclaiming as much of your history and culture as possible, allowing it to continue and hopefully thrive. ...
