The Evolution Of The Internet Radio
The evolution of music has taken exponential routes into our homes. The vast market for the
consumers who always like to have music playing have a variety of options to choose from. There is
the origin company of Pandora that has spearheaded the entire industry, as well as Spotify who has
reimagined the internet radio genre. Spotify is one of the top companies in today's society, including
its Premium version which offers discounts to students. Apple Music and Tidal are companies with
strong backgrounds, but are actually struggling to manifest some success in their revenues.
SoundCloud is a newer and more diverse music streaming site, since it allows the freedom of any
individual to upload their own music to the world and allowing anyone ... Show more content on

In this report, we examine the market for streaming music through the internet. I discuss five
successful companies and possible segments for each of them that solidify the growing market for
internet radio. Specifically, the customer segment of females who are teens to their early 20's who
are mid to high class college students would be targeted from Spotify. The beginnings of the new
service have started less than a decade ago but has already been a huge factor of how people listen
to their music. Instead of buying physical, hard copies of an artist's album, people either buy the
song digitally or now use a specific software that will allow them to stream and listen to any song
they want for free. The use of applications on smartphones also aid in this world–wide domination
of internet radio. Normally, the trial versions of this software will include advertisements by
companies who pay the streaming music companies. If someone has an aversion to all of the
commercials, there is a monthly payment subscription where no advertisements will interrupt the
streaming of their music. One of the most powerful forms of art and expression has gone digital.
There is no secret that music can influence millions. The music industry has always contributed to
society's biggest icons and created revenues that exceed lottery numbers. Key players of this new
wave of streaming music would be Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music, SoundCloud, and Tidal. These

Cloud Computing
In many cases like this one, an organization should always have a backup strategy. Some of the
actions that I would take would be performing a backup on a USB flash drive which will be kept in
a safe place with the office. As for the profit and loss statements, cash flow statements and other
pertinent files will be updated daily, backed up and performed daily. If files are needed to be shared,
a cloud backup system can be implemented. A disaster recovery plan should be set forth with three
different sites * Hot Site– "A separate and fully equipped facility where the company can move
immediately after a disaster and resume business." * Cold Site– "A separate facility that does not
have any computer equipment, but is a place where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
* Maintainability– Diverse employment will be preferred so that there are no language barriers for
the customers. Obviously when the company starts picking up business and there are considerations
of going global then our system will have to be redeveloped. * Portability– There will be different
operating systems. Whether it's through the Apple iTunes which will be available for us if we decide
upon a Mac computer or any other PC computer. * Usability– Employees will get the proper
training in order to make their work experience as understanding and satisfying as possible. Any
type of hints or tips will be available for understanding the system better.
There are a multitude of benefits in the utilization of cloud computing. A primary function of cloud
computing is the availability of universal access to files throughout any given level of an
organization. As documents and other database driven information are stored off–site, there is often
a reduction of costs, due to the minimization of on site hosting software and hardware alike. The
many reasons to utilize cloud computing are evident, however, as all other technological advantages,
there are also a large variety of companies that offer these services with different benefits, costs and
application choices. Some of the most recognized corporations offer cloud computing such as
icloud, Google Apps, Amazon Cloud Drive, and many others. All organizations offer

E–commerce: Database is used by any type of online organization to orient and organize their
products, customer information, record of purchase, pricing information to further recommend about
potential products to their customers This data is stored in highly secured database and the quality of
security is attained by PCI(Payment Card Industry) standard.
Healthcare: For an easy access hospitals, clinics and other organizations of healthcare store patient's
information which are large in amount. A group of huge databases are used to store these
information. The security of such databases are protected by the standard of HIPAA compliance.

Swot Analysis Of Netflix
SWOT ANALYSIS: Strengths: Netflix is the largest online entertainment subscription service in the
United States, and it accounts for a third of all U.S. internet traffic. Netflix has created resilient
brand recognition. It is very well known among Internet users, and accounts for about thirty per cent
of daily Internet traffic. Largest streaming library among competitors with award winning original
content like the series House of Cards, and Hemlock Grove. Low monthly subscription fees for
streaming services and DVD available by mail. Partnerships with multiple product manufactures
with the website's apps. With the Netflix App, subscribers have been able to stream media on most
Internet enabled devices. Possesses the largest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The amount of time it takes for a full season for popular/high demanded shows is high compared to
Netflix's competition. The company's domestic DVD–by–mail rental operation has declined in
recent years, as consumers prefer streaming. However, based on second quarter results, it still has
3.7 million subscribers for this service. Opportunities: We expect Netflix will continue to increase
the company's globalization strategies. It first started its international streaming business in Canada
in September 2010, and has expanded also into the European markets, Australia, and New Zealand.
It will continue to grow and look into globalization and international expansion into more countries.
Netflix should look into reducing spending in the conventional U.S. market. Expand the original
programs/content to offer more cultural and favored linguistic preferences as part of their efforts to
grow internationally. Broaden foreign content to be identical to the content that is available for
streaming in the United States. If they continue expanding on the Original Content business they can
easily produce their own movies and television shows. Considering their large customer base this
could be a money maker deal. Implement more multiple platforms for advertising needs by pushing
notifications to inform subscribers when new movies, shows, or documentaries are released through
text messages and email on

Dr. Dre 's Marketing Strategy
In terms of challenges, Beats have been applauded for their great marketing strategy, but criticized
actually for the quality of their product and the tangible benefits that it provides. If Beats'
competitors were able to capitalize better on marketing strategies similar to Beats, but offering
superior product (such as Bose headphones), they are going to be able to compete or overtake Beats.
In the long term, Beats might face challenges expanding outside the United States. The specific
marketing strategy they pursued in that market, capitalizing on the celebrities advertising and strong
graphic presence in social media will need to be redefined for specific markets. Right now, Beats are
basically still unknown in Europe.
b.) Dr. Dre should expand its product portfolio in audio industry including as portable and wireless
speakers, co–branded smart phones or music streaming services. Dr. Dre could expand by forming
by allying itself with companies that provide any audio features, including laptops, cars, tablets. In
other words, Dr. Dre should align itself with any company produces sound, creating the association
of good quality sound, no matter where it coming from, laptop, car or headphones, with Beats.
While the streaming music industry is very competitive right now, Dr. Dre has points of difference
that allow him and his products to stand out. The brand had been already succeeding thanks to the
strong brand recognition and association due to celebrities endorsements,

New Media: An Examination
New Media: An Examination The statement "New media does not replace old media it just changes
it" is completely true. One of the most lucid manifestations of this assertion is via online cinema and
how the Internet has changed the experience of watching both home movies and the rate of
attendance of people to movie theatres. This paper will attempt to demonstrate that has technology
has become sleeker and more advanced, it's also become smaller more handheld and more able to be
possessed by the user. Smartphones, iPads and laptops are all clear examples of this trend. This trend
generally reflects the notion that in order for technology to be most useful to the consumer, it needs
to be easily contained. Other trends in technology have been speed the more advanced a gadget is,
the faster it's expected to run. However, with the progress of technology, it's been easier than ever to
watch and stream movies instantly from the comfort of one's home for viewing on one's flat screen
television or computer. Old media in many ways represents the centralized broadcast mode of
information to the decentralized networked model of the information age (Flew, 2002). This
transformation of new media through websites like hulu.com or Netflix.com has made entertainment
a more isolated experience and continues to do so. With the advancement of technology through
these websites and instant streaming, the process of entertainment becomes more conducive to
pleasing the individual. Entertainment

Online Music Is Changing Mp3 Players
Perhaps one of the greatest innovations in the early nineties for music was the mp3 player. This may
be due to the fact that the mp3 has had a huge impact upon both the music industry and societies
listeners. Weinstock stated that, "the world of the mp3 is a fast–growing music technology available
to anyone with Internet access. Fan are promoting the mp3 as the most personalized music form
ever created that will propel music into the next millennium" (9). The invention of the mp3 is
notable for producing and changing the music industry's role through the changed in the copyright
and ownership issues. In what follows, I will argue how the face of online music is changing mp3
players. Firstly, through examining the numerous ways people can download and transfer music
onto their mp3 handheld player. Through drawing upon the concepts of YouTube; a website for
posting video clips, iTunes; a digital media player application, Spotfiy; a music streaming service
and 'mp3.com'; a company to emerge around the idea of free music. Secondly, I will discuss the mp3
player not as software, but as an object that is constantly connected between our body and new
media. I will formulate the notions of remediation and analogue to digital media as key terms that
have allowed the mp3 to become such a prominent form that was crucial to the experience of music.
Technologies are cultural objects that are created by other people, which give information about the
creator and its users. Every

Advantages Of Watching Movies On The Cinema
At the present, people pay attention to watch movie more than the past, so the movie industry tries
to find an alternative way to attract audiences. One way to attract them is watching movie on the
internet at home. This way is very popular because it has many advantages that watching movie at
the cinema does not have. There are main 3 causes why people choose to watch movie on the
internet instead of watching at the cinema.
Flexibility is the main reason why audiences are interested in watching movies on the internet.
Everybody loves convenience which is provided by the online movie distributors. Especially, it
makes them feel good while watching movies. Firstly, the schedule is not fixed. Audiences can
watch movies anytime and anywhere they want if they have a good internet connection. It is not
necessary to check the schedule and rush to go to the cinema. For example, people can watch
movies at 2 a.m. on the internet while the cinema is closed. Furthermore, it has no rules to follow.
Audiences can eat food, drink alcohol use the mobile phone and do whatever while watching movies
which are not allowed at the cinema, and people can do these ... Show more content on

The audiences should have some conscious to support the film's producers at least by watching the
movie sources. If audiences find a free streaming movie website and they want to know this website
are showing movies legally, there are a few things they can look for. Legitimate streaming websites
can distribute their movies when they have permission from the film studio which have been made
contracts together with the website, moreover the website is paying the studio for use of their films
and most of websites usually have advertisements to show on their websites or mobile applications
for watching their movies, so audiences can enjoy movies without fear of violating a

Identifying The Detection Of Human And Non Human Decisions
1 Abstract–Present work targets the detection of humans in images and videos. Our focus is on
developing robust feature extraction algorithms that encode image regions as high dimensional
feature vectors that support high accuracy human/non–human decisions. To test our feature sets we
adopt a relatively simple learning framework that uses linear Support Vector Machines to classify
each possible image region as a Human or as a non–Human. This work makes three main
contributions. Firstly, we introduce grids of locally normalized Histograms of Oriented Gradients
(HOG) as descriptors for people detection in static images. The HOG descriptors are computed over
dense and overlapping grids of spatial blocks, with image gradient orientation features extracted at
fixed resolution and gathered into a high dimensional feature vector. They are designed to be robust
to small changes in image contour locations and directions, and significant changes in image
illumination and color. Secondly, the Human detection algorithm has to be executed on modern
parallel platforms to achieve the detection goal in real time. Thirdly, alert video monitoring station
with an indication. It enhance the Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) based Surveillance cameras

The Top Cloud Service Providers
The top Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) in our market are various. Most of them have their special
advantages for surviving in fierce business competitions. Some may have advantages on mobile app,
some may have advantages on languages, customer help and support services or prices, or others
may pay more attention on security protection and their reputation improvements. In this
assignment, I picked up four top CSPs with comparisons of their functionality, cost, security, mobile
access and customer support services. The four CSPs are Apple iCloud, Google, OpenDrive, and
Amazon.
Apple iCloud
Functionality: iCloud provides email, contacts, calendar, documents, spreadsheets, music, photos,
videos, and slideshows. It also provide view files, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Netflix's Strengths And Weaknesses
1 Overview of Netflix Netflix is an American entertainment company specializing in streaming and
video–on–demand services. The company has three main departments: domestic streaming,
international streaming, and domestic DVD. Currently, Netflix streams to over 190 countries, with a
combined worldwide viewership of 93 million. 1.1 History Netflix was founded in Scotts Valley,
California by Marc Randolph and Reed Hastings on August 29, 1997 (Keating, 2012). The initial
focus of the business was DVD rental by mail, which was a new technology at the time. The
business was launched on April 14, 1998, with 30 employees and a catalogue of 925 DVDs. In
2007, Netflix began their international expansion with the introduction of streaming services in
Canada. In 2014, Netflix expanded into 41 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
4.1 Massive Scale Netflix's size confers significant economies of scale, since marginal costs of
allocating content to an additional user is minimal. Profit margins improve as subscriber counts
increase, allowing Netflix to purchase more content and increase its attractiveness. Termed as a
"virtuous cycle" by Hastings, it gives Netflix an edge over smaller–scale competitors such as Hulu
(Bylund, 2013). Netflix's massive size is valuable, rare, and costly to imitate. The company is also
organized to leverage on its massive scale by fully utilizing all the benefits it confers, such as
usership data and continued global expansion. It is thus a long term competitive advantage. 4.2
Strong Branding Netflix has become synonymous with Internet video streaming; users often
envisage watching Netflix instead of watching individual shows. In comparison, the closest
competitors such as Hulu and Redbox are not nearly as well known, whilst Amazon Prime Instant
Video is often overlooked due to it being packaged with the Amazon Prime membership (Snider,

These trends are not confined to European or American music markets. Baidu, China's largest online
search company, recently signed a deal with rights holders to license music on its website for both
free download and streaming (Hille, 2011). The surge in popularity has led some to believe that the
digital music market represents the recording industry's next sustainable business model, along with
diversification into live events and merchandise. However, relatively little is understood about the
consumer who uses a combination of legal and illegal sources to acquire music a la carte. In the
decade prior to the Internet, the music industry was relatively healthy overall with worldwide sales
peaking in 1998 (Baym, 2010). Since then, peer–to–peer (P2P) networks such as Napster have
contributed to the decline in sales of CDs. There is some disagreement about the extent to which file
sharing has negatively impacted the recording; however, evidence points to copyright infringement
as a significant factor. The digitalization of music effectively removed the industry's monopoly on
high–quality reproduction so that illegal copies were of equal standard to the original (May, 2007).
Concomitantly, the intangible nature of digital music has resulted in new consumption practices.
Efforts to counter digital piracy have primarily used legal mechanisms to dismantle P2P networks
and prosecute file sharers. More

Diagnosis
Since Netflix was an online movie Rental Company, it introduced its subscription services to
customers in 1999 which allowed access to unlimited DVD rentals with low payments. The
subscription package consisted of the mailing cost of the DVD, which would be streaming on any
device that was compatible with Netflix software. In the beginning, all cost was provided by Netflix.
But by the time the postage cost got higher, it heavily affected Netflix revenue. Later on, the CEO of
Netflix Reed Hastings implemented a new business strategy with a new website. The customers
needed to pay differently for streaming, rentals or together. DVD rental would be followed by
"Quikster" and was offered by new website. These changes affected the customers adversely.
Therefore millions of customer canceled their subscription. Afterwards, CEO Reed Hastings
canceled the new strategy and kept the same options as it was before but with higher price. After
this, a lot more customers got back to Netflix and realized that the higher price is well–intentioned.
At this point, the CEO Reed Hastings was unable to recognize the changes that made millions of
customers cancel their subscription as well as depositors. Video on demand is going to be more of
an issue because it allows the audience to see movie clip just per click. This is totally against the

Next Big Sound: A Social Media Analysis
Distant memories of waking up on a Tuesday morning anticipating that after school or work you
would be heading to your favorite record store to buy your musical idol's new album is something to
be cherished. When discussing classic albums, projects, and music moments people tend to forget
that the context of society is a monumental factor to evaluate. The 1990's were an era of unrelenting
self–expression birthing new genres of music that allowed space and interpretation amongst all
classes. The thrill of all this lies in the exclusivity of the artist–fan relationship. Prior to social media
individuals were left to imagine the lives of artists but with the influx of technology and the
popularity of reality television, it is almost impossible to NOT know the most intimate details of

Sony Music Entertainment Executive Summary
Sony Music Entertainment Executive Summary
Originally launched as American Record Company in 1929, Sony Music Entertainment Inc. has
since established itself as a leading manufacturer of video, audio, communications, and information
technology products.
In September 1976, the joint venture CBS/Sony Records Inc. presented the market with the
revolutionary compact disc (CD) and began producing the disc in America in 1983. After joining
Bertelsmann AG, Sony eventually acquired BMG's stake in 2008, and began functioning as a wholly
owned subsidiary. In July 2012, Sony/ATV Music Publishing purchased the publishing rights of the
EMI group, which strengthened Sony's position as the world's largest music publisher.
Sony's innovative approach and successful brand name, being associated with numerous motion
pictures, computer entertainment, music, television, and online businesses, makes Sony one of the
most successful, extensive entertainment and technology companies in the world.
Despite Sony Entertainment's success, due to a declining industry, Sony has been unable to sustain
their profit margins from previous years. After an in–depth analysis of Sony Music Entertainment's
industry position and it's rival competitors , along with an assessment of their internal and external
environment, I have developed two recommendations that will increase Sony Music's long–term
profitability in the digital music industry. The following recommendations, derived from the

Databases of extreme power are needed to track information regarding day to day basis transactions
and even to predict future of the finance world using financial models.
Weather: Prediction of weather is a complex process and depends on numerous factors. These
factors are gathered by databases and stored to be analyzed and the resultant report is sent to a
weather channel or an in your smartphone. Data taken in by a weather company per day can be of
size 20 terabytes. For supporting such data the company uses databases like MySQL, Cassandra and
many more.
Government Organizations: For various purposes such as research, legislation, defense and many
more, information is collected frequently by government organizations .Very powerful and advanced
database systems are used to collect, store and analyze such information.
Online Television Streaming: Netflix is an example of online television streaming service which
uses database to generate a list of TV shows and movies to its user, keep track of preference and also
to provide a list of shows for recommendation. Highly advanced database management system is
required for analyzing such huge amount of data, for example Cassandra.

Netflix is an American cooperation that provides on–demand Internet streaming media. It was

This project will discuss in details the motivations that drive Netflix to adopt cloud–computing
technologies, and how cloud–computing technologies have affected the business purpose of Netflix?
And finally what the challenges and solutions that are facing Netflix? Why cloud computing Netflix
has more than 27 million streaming subscribers around the world, which make Netflix the world's
leading Internet subscription service for streaming movies and TV programs. Netflix's decision to
move their data centers to a third party cloud service provider was impacted by technical issues
associated with the growth of customer subscripting to Netflix services. Issues and motivations to
move the IT infrastructure to the cloud are: Outages and availability: The main reason Netflix
decided to move their services to the cloud is the outages and availability of their services. In August
2008, Netflix experienced a major outage that prevented Netflix from providing services to the third
of its customers. This outage has affected the company reputation negatively, and cost Netflix

Answer lies in the number of total subscribers which has grown from 107 000 in 1999 to 6 316 000
in 2006. (source: Netflix 2006 10–k). Number of subscribers was constantly growing since 1998 due
to good strategy decisions like : proprietary recommendation system , hiring of Ted Sarandos and
opening more distribution centers. All of these moves had one purpose: to add value to their product
by increasing customer's satisfaction. How does Netflix's strategy compare to Blockbuster?
Compare and contrast each's value chain. Factors which determine the value of the product: Price –
of the movie Delivery Time – how long do the customers wait for getting the movie Convenience –
what actions do the customers have to do to get the movie Other factors(recommendation system,
availability of new movies) Late fees Although prices of Netflix and Blockbuster for a single DVD
rental are now the same (10$ per movie–source: http://reviews.cnet.com/4520–11445_7–6325775–

example: you pay monthly fee and you can exchange movies, so you can watch several different

As a bigger company Blockbuster has the financial funds to attract more subscribers using heavy
marketing. This entry directly enters Netflix's niche market and now Netflix has to find a way to
differentiate. For starters, what would be Netflix's entry strategy to these new markets? It could ship
the DVDs from USA but this option would have serious disadvantages like import tariffs, shipping
costs, long delivery time which would lead to customer dissatisfaction and a very small market share
with probably losses rather than profits. If Netflix would open a subsidiary in Europe it would not
have problems like the latter but it would need investors since financing the whole subsidiary may
present a problem for Netflix. Another issue is that Europe, as a difference to the US, is consisted of
many small independent countries with their own laws and import tariffs so this could be a problem
as well. Another problem is the customers preferences. If Netflix would try to ship movies from the
US (which would also present shipping costs) the European customers might not like US movies
that much. They might prefer European movies better. Another issue is that Netflix doesn't have an
established relationship with any European movie studio. So they would lose the competitive
advantage that they have in the US. Another problem is the language barrier. In many countries like

What Is Media Influence In France
France and India are on different spectrums when it comes to culture and traditions. India is known
for its vibrant and colorful traditions, while France is known for its well–polished ones. The one
thing that both these countries can relate the most in is media. Media plays an intensive role in both
countries. They both strive in creating media that is true to their culture and beliefs. India and France
media consist of television, radio, film, newspapers, magazines, and internet based websites. I

This clearly shows that U.S influence is seen in Frances film industry. France does have regulations
on the amount of American movies that can be shown in their country throughout the year. This is
why on the chart there are more home based movies than the box office of another country. On
France's billboard chart every song expect for one or two are American record songs. There is
definitely a heavy American influence in France. It is shown across every media platform in France.
In the article "Jill Scott Compared to a Dog on French Television," France is has a complicated
history with race and racism. On a recent episode of TMC's Quotidian actress Reem Kherici and

Belaïdi stated that she named her dog Jill because she look like Jill Scott. The host Yann Barthès
proceeded to put up a side by side photo of the singer and Belaïdi dog. The actress and the host
found the joke amusing, while actress Kherici and the audience didn't find the humor in the joke at
all. Offensive jokes have been displayed on television for centuries now. Television has been a big
contributor to the controversy of racism and stereotyping. This is the perfect example of how media
can have an effect on society issues.

The First Generation Of K Pop Groups
The first generation of K–pop groups started with the S.M. group H.O.T in 1996. Some of the
remarkable first generation groups were H.O.T., Shinhwa, G.O.D., and S.E.S. The target audience
for the first generation K–pop groups were teens. Their images, clothing styles, music, and
personalities all catered and appealed to the teens. For example, groups like H.O.T and Sechs Kies
embraced rebellious identities and criticized the South Korean education system. At the same time,
they released dance music along to clarify that "their identities were closer to attractive teen–
oriented products than to messengers of social criticism," (Kim 90). In addition, broadcasting

It is the social media age right now; thus, social media presence helps many newly debuted groups
gain more exposure. "Gangnam Style" by PSY certainly influenced the new Hallyu wave (the
Korean wave) due to its global success and western recognition. World tours and overseas schedules
rapidly increased in the third generation. Right now, almost all of the new generation idols have
Twitter and Instagram accounts where they can interact with fans from all around the world.
YouTube is of big importance in determining the success of the groups of the new generation. Third
generation groups significantly gain more views on their music videos compared to the older
generations. Some of the most famous third generation idols are BTS, Twice, Red Velvet, Wanna
One, and Seventeen. At this point, measurements of success and accomplishments have gradually
changed through different generations of K–pop; some were mentioned in the overall generation
descriptions. The conditions of the eras in which the groups debuted differed from generation to
generation and these differences prevent fair comparisons between old and new generation K–pop
groups. K–pop's rising popularity outside of Korea increased the importance of accomplishments
based on youtube views, social media presence, international awards, western recognition, and
album sales. To give an example of the increased value of

Abstract: . Blockbuster And Netflix Are Two Exceptional
Abstract: Blockbuster and Netflix are two exceptional companies that are in the home video rental

heightened its company value, Blockbuster lost it's powerful and influential market position, and in
2010 slipped into bankruptcy. The paper will propose a study to discuss important insight into the
many aspects of Blockbuster and Netflix, and other media entertainment industries, which includes

So, I found it interesting to read about as you will too. Blockbuster without funding and getting
increasing competition from such companies as Amazon.com, Apple, and Hulu, who at the time
basically dominate the digital entertainment streaming industry, really only added to Blockbuster's
and Netflix issues/problems. Moreover, blockbuster's in no way recovered, and in May–2011,
Blockbuster was bought by the DISH satellite network for a few hundred million dollars. The reason
at the time was unknown, except for the fact that in the past, they both form an alliance to sell DISH
satellite packages in stores and to share video–on–demand proceeds, for which Blockbuster's never
gained control of this market at all. Furthermore, by July 2011, DISH announced that it would be
able to continue to run 1,500 out of 3,000 Blockbuster stores, which would serve 100 million
customers. The remaining 1,500 was liquidated. DISH announced, in Sept–2011, it would provide

"Binge–watching" is a popular term to describe how consumers interact with the service (Jenner,
2016). This is due to how Netflix has differentiated itself from its competitors, especially early on.
Netflix was at the forefront of internet content streaming. The service allows viewers to watch high–
quality content whenever and wherever they want. This was a huge change from before when
consumers had to subscribe to content channels such as HBO or Showtime through their cable
provider and wait for a show they like to come on. Netflix's competitors are Hulu and Amazon
Prime, but Netflix is the clear leader in the content streaming market. The iPhone 7+ targets its
market by offering a top–of–the–line smart phone that is equipped with an efficient operating
system. Their main competitor in the market is Samsung. Apple has not done much in recent years
to compete with Samsung, even purchasing Samsung displays for their upcoming iPhone 8.
However, in comparison to other competitors, the iPhone 7+ positions itself by offering one of the
best cameras, stereo quality speakers, and an HD display. Edushape's Marublous Marble Run is
more of a niche product. The product's overall design is unique and that alone differentiates itself in
the toy market. However, the product's design does not aid in its positioning. The marble run
competes with many other building toys such as Legos. The toy industry

Marketing Strategy Essay
METHODOLOGY
Objective of the project
We currently have a prototype of a product which is a new web application that would combine
groupware tools and social media. It is only a prototype however, and the company still wants to
come up with ways to improve it by either adding or removing features from it. A marketing strategy
was discussed and agreed on in which we launched a marketing web campaign on Facebook and
WeChat to use the feedback of the participants in order to make changes to the prototype as we see
fit.

Traditional product analytics is usually metrics focused, and the function normally depends on
gathering as much quantity of data as possible on net promoter scores, cost of acquisition,
conversion rates, retention rates and so on.
– Happiness:
Happiness focuses on information points like user surveys, where users tell you how much they like
the product.
– Engagement:
Level of user involvement, typically measured via behavioral proxies such as frequency, intensity, or
depth of interaction over some time period.
– Adoption:
New users of a site or app. Most users just try a new feature because it is new, instead of having an
inherent goal to adopt it because it is good. Hence it is important to understand the actual product
and what constitutes success by understanding how the user flow works from a design pattern
standpoint.
– Retention:
The rate at which existing users are returning. That means customers are interested in this site or
app.
– Task Success:
Traditional behavioral metrics of user experience, such as efficiency (e.g. time to complete a task),
effectiveness (e.g. percent of tasks completed), and error rate. This category is most applicable to
areas of your product that are very task–focused, such as search or an upload flow.

The And Implementation Of Web
With traditional media outlets dealing with the incoherent nature of audiences and the defiant threat
of revenue decline, new organisations have stepped–up taking advantage of this shifting media
landscape (Ellingsen 2014 pp.106). As companies such as Netflix, YouTube and other online
broadcasters instigate adamant change in the way programming is created, consumed and

Business Model : Symbolic Representation Of The Core...
Introduction A business model is a symbolic representation of the core services of an organization
that may be abstract or graphical/ textual encompassing the intricate architecture, co–operation and
designed financial arrangements for present and future. Thus, the business model encompasses the
value architecture, value proposition, value finance and value network of the organization. It
elucidates the organization's creation, delivery and capturing valuable services in terms of social,
economic, cultural and related fields. The process used to construct a business model is denoted as a
business strategy (Schumacher, 1999). A disruptive innovation is a concept of innovation that
encompasses and establishes a new market by disrupting the current trends in the market and their
existing value network (West, n.d.). It results in the replacement of the ruling market firms, alliances
and products by capture a niche and an untapped field in the market. Usually the untapped market
includes a segment of customers whose needs are either not addressed or overlooked. Capturing
these essentials, thus the concept defines a substantial societal influence. Despite a disruptive
innovation being revolutionary in nature, an innovation does not necessarily mean disruptive
always. In most cases, it has been seen that the light of disruptive innovation is usually brought by
the outsiders instead of the existing pioneers in the market. Basically, a process of disruptive
innovation takes a longer

Also Netflix needs to prepare a better plan to recover old customers, gain new customers and make
sure that the people who still have Netflix keep it. Establishing a bundle price for both online
streaming and DVD rental will allow The Netflix Company to recover some market shares and
remain the leading overall digital film company. The recommendations are as follows:
1. Advertise the new bundle price of the online streaming and DVD rental. The advertisement
department should develop new commercials about the changes that Netflix is about to offer for
customers. The publicity of the new prices should ensure the growth on the profit for the company.
2. Emphasize that old customers will get the 1 month trial for free. This will definitely show all our
customers that we want them to come back to Netflix as loyal customers and also if they come back
they will be rewarded.

Spark Blocks And Noteu Are Revolutionary Products
Spark Blocks verses Noteu Spark Blocks and Noteu are revolutionary products in the technology

purposes. The real question is who does it better? The first product is called Spark Blocks. This
product encompasses many different aspects, from notifications, to music, to daily reminders. This
system is composed of many numerous blocks, no larger than the palm of your hand. They all fit
together to make a cohesive unit. The blocks can be connected into any desirable arrangement, and
are made of high–strength aluminum, which makes them very durable. The system has a four hour
battery life, but the user can purchase a battery block that extends the battery life to 12 hours. As

So, with all that being said, when we discuss concerning the world's top leading online streaming
media company, Netflix first comes to mind because we know they committed in to
distributing/circulating movies and TV shows for years by way of the internet or online services, as
it has the required license and agreement with some of the world's largest, and most important,
content providers, film studios, and TV channels as well.
Furthermore, they charge minimal from the subscribers to watch videos from the stored videos by

The info graphic that I use showed that Amazon had 50% of the e–book market and domestically
there was 25% growth per year from consumers buying e–books rather than paperback editions. The
combination of these two factors makes the e–book division of Amazon a star, as Amazon by the
information that I found had high market share of a high–growth industry. The example that I used

between their own "brand", and for example, the brand of a company, to promote their product etc.
successfully, to the benefit of the person and entity. The relationship is mutually beneficial, as
celebrity endorsements and sponsorships are prevalent in today's society through social media. They
are able to measure this using "netnography", specifically using the research through the channels
Facebook, Twitter and Youtube, which is the research technique that "explores how social media
interactions form the human brand identities among celebrities involving different stakeholders."
The power and influence of a celebrity is rooted in the social world and I believe I can use this
research in my paper to help connect and value the same "celebrity" status to some professional
gamers. Certainly on a smaller scale, but the parallel of "celebrity" having influence and being able
to develop brand identity both for themselves and for other entities is crucial, particularly when
discussing profitable ventures for gamers in the future.

Importance Of Websites For Business?
What is the importance of websites for business? Websites are locations that are connected to the
Internet and have one or more webpages on the World Wide Web containing information. The World
Wide Web is an information system of servers on the Internet that allows documents to be connected
to other documents by hypertext links. Thus, the user can search for information on search engines,
such as Google, by moving from one document to another.
Information is processed data and information is meaningful if it is accurate, organized, and
perceived useful by the user or audience.
The webpages on the websites are typically written in HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). It is a
standardized system for the World Wide Web pages. The following are some of the things we can do
with HTML code: create a slider, background color, background image, hyperlinks, layout, design,
etc. However, there are other languages too that can write webpages such as CSS (Cascading Style
Sheets), JavaScript, XML (Extensible Markup Language), etc.
Websites are great resources that can do limitless things. For instance, we can establish and publish
information for users, sell services and products online, online transactions, create an online
presence, etc.
It is a modern, efficient, and effective way of doing business. We can do business cheaply now
because we can do business online without establishing a physical location and can save thousands
on investments and cut other expenses too.

Spotify vs. Pandora
In the 21st century a battle over how music is delivered has begun. No longer is terrestrial radio the
only way in which listeners can discover new music, revisit nostalgic favorites and connect with
their respective age groups. Online digital radio outlets have become obvious replacements for men
and women between the ages of 18–34. In this day and age individuals have a surplus of options
when it comes to accessing music. However, many have moved away from physical products and
the technologies/outlets of times past. There are two prominent companies waging this war: Spotify
and Pandora. "Competition between the two programs seemed inevitable. And now, Spotify has
announced a new radio station option, in effect, co–opting Pandora's ... Show more content on

With Spotify penning licensing deals with these three majors, Spotify has an upper hand on Pandora.
"Spotify recently launched twelve new apps backed by the major labels. Pandora lacks such deals,
as do many other services. Because of this, Pandora pays a hefty sum in royalties–a significant strike
against its business model" . Due to the absence of deals with the major record labels that Spotify
has, Pandora not only struggles with expanding its music library but also with maintaining a feasible
monetary system. "Pandora operates annually at a loss of millions due to complicated digital
streaming rights and bandwidth costs. If the service cannot combat the Spotify horde swatting at its
crown, Pandora will find itself permanently dethroned" . The next question is obvious: what will
Pandora do to combat the increasing strength of Spotify and their listener base? According to
Forbes, Pandora has started to venture into automotive territory. "Starting early last year, Pandora
has been making deals with manufacturers Ford and BMW, and partnered with Pioneer for access to
Toyota, Hyundai and GM. According to the Trefis team writing for the Street, "This is going to be a
major avenue of growth given that almost half of the radio listening happens in automobiles"" .
This strategy for Pandora may help to create a little extra wiggle room when it comes to separating
the two digital radio giants. However, the tremendous

Television And The Digital Age
For the past century, modern technologies have made the distribution of news and entertainment
more efficient. In the digital age, the media is an imperative element of everyday culture
(Silverstone, 2004). There is no denying the indispensability of television as the central hub as
represented in the quotation: "In my heart I will take my television set with me. I love you." –
Suicide note of New York school boy after his father banned him from watching television (Sunday
Times as cited in Silverstone, 2004). Although the television was once an essential part of the social
sphere, advancements in the internet has developed flexible Streaming Videos On–Demand services
such as Netflix and Stan which displace some of the demand for cable and free television. The
different temporalities of both mediums changes the way consumers use these services and thus
transforms its relationship to public life.
HISTORY OF TELEVISION
Television has been an crucial part of the household since the 20th century, as a medium for
traditional households to come together and enjoy a program. The significance of television is
encapsulated through the central placement of the television set in the common household.
Traditionally, television was the main source of news and regarded as the "social centre". Everyone
had to keep up to date to engage in "water cooler" conversations in order to be "connected". In the
"Dailiness in Radio, Television and Modern Life" reading, Scannell describes media as a

The Evolution of Internet Radio: Exploring Key Streaming Services and Growing Market Trends

  • 1. The Evolution Of The Internet Radio The evolution of music has taken exponential routes into our homes. The vast market for the consumers who always like to have music playing have a variety of options to choose from. There is the origin company of Pandora that has spearheaded the entire industry, as well as Spotify who has reimagined the internet radio genre. Spotify is one of the top companies in today's society, including its Premium version which offers discounts to students. Apple Music and Tidal are companies with strong backgrounds, but are actually struggling to manifest some success in their revenues. SoundCloud is a newer and more diverse music streaming site, since it allows the freedom of any individual to upload their own music to the world and allowing anyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this report, we examine the market for streaming music through the internet. I discuss five successful companies and possible segments for each of them that solidify the growing market for internet radio. Specifically, the customer segment of females who are teens to their early 20's who are mid to high class college students would be targeted from Spotify. The beginnings of the new service have started less than a decade ago but has already been a huge factor of how people listen to their music. Instead of buying physical, hard copies of an artist's album, people either buy the song digitally or now use a specific software that will allow them to stream and listen to any song they want for free. The use of applications on smartphones also aid in this world–wide domination of internet radio. Normally, the trial versions of this software will include advertisements by companies who pay the streaming music companies. If someone has an aversion to all of the commercials, there is a monthly payment subscription where no advertisements will interrupt the streaming of their music. One of the most powerful forms of art and expression has gone digital. There is no secret that music can influence millions. The music industry has always contributed to society's biggest icons and created revenues that exceed lottery numbers. Key players of this new wave of streaming music would be Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music, SoundCloud, and Tidal. These five ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Cloud Computing In many cases like this one, an organization should always have a backup strategy. Some of the actions that I would take would be performing a backup on a USB flash drive which will be kept in a safe place with the office. As for the profit and loss statements, cash flow statements and other pertinent files will be updated daily, backed up and performed daily. If files are needed to be shared, a cloud backup system can be implemented. A disaster recovery plan should be set forth with three different sites * Hot Site– "A separate and fully equipped facility where the company can move immediately after a disaster and resume business." * Cold Site– "A separate facility that does not have any computer equipment, but is a place where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... * Maintainability– Diverse employment will be preferred so that there are no language barriers for the customers. Obviously when the company starts picking up business and there are considerations of going global then our system will have to be redeveloped. * Portability– There will be different operating systems. Whether it's through the Apple iTunes which will be available for us if we decide upon a Mac computer or any other PC computer. * Usability– Employees will get the proper training in order to make their work experience as understanding and satisfying as possible. Any type of hints or tips will be available for understanding the system better. There are a multitude of benefits in the utilization of cloud computing. A primary function of cloud computing is the availability of universal access to files throughout any given level of an organization. As documents and other database driven information are stored off–site, there is often a reduction of costs, due to the minimization of on site hosting software and hardware alike. The many reasons to utilize cloud computing are evident, however, as all other technological advantages, there are also a large variety of companies that offer these services with different benefits, costs and application choices. Some of the most recognized corporations offer cloud computing such as icloud, Google Apps, Amazon Cloud Drive, and many others. All organizations offer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Swot Analysis Of Netflix SWOT ANALYSIS: Strengths: Netflix is the largest online entertainment subscription service in the United States, and it accounts for a third of all U.S. internet traffic. Netflix has created resilient brand recognition. It is very well known among Internet users, and accounts for about thirty per cent of daily Internet traffic. Largest streaming library among competitors with award winning original content like the series House of Cards, and Hemlock Grove. The amount of time it takes for a full season for popular/high demanded shows is high compared to Netflix's competition. The company's domestic DVD–by–mail rental operation has declined in recent years, as consumers prefer streaming. However, based on second quarter results, it still has 3.7 million subscribers for this service. Opportunities: We expect Netflix will continue to increase the company's globalization strategies. It first started its international streaming business in Canada in September 2010, and has expanded also into the European markets, Australia, and New Zealand. It will continue to grow and look into globalization and international expansion into more countries. Netflix should look into reducing spending in the conventional U.S. market. Dr. Dre 's Marketing Strategy In terms of challenges, Beats have been applauded for their great marketing strategy, but criticized actually for the quality of their product and the tangible benefits that it provides. If Beats' competitors were able to capitalize better on marketing strategies similar to Beats, but offering superior product (such as Bose headphones), they are going to be able to compete or overtake Beats. In the long term, Beats might face challenges expanding outside the United States. The specific marketing strategy they pursued in that market, capitalizing on the celebrities advertising and strong graphic presence in social media will need to be redefined for specific markets. Right now, Beats are basically still unknown in Europe. b.) • 11. New Media: An Examination New Media: An Examination The statement "New media does not replace old media it just changes it" is completely true. One of the most lucid manifestations of this assertion is via online cinema and how the Internet has changed the experience of watching both home movies and the rate of attendance of people to movie theatres. This paper will attempt to demonstrate that has technology has become sleeker and more advanced, it's also become smaller more handheld and more able to be possessed by the user. Smartphones, iPads and laptops are all clear examples of this trend. This trend generally reflects the notion that in order for technology to be most useful to the consumer, it needs to be easily contained. Other trends in technology have been speed the more advanced a gadget is, the faster it's expected to run. However, with the progress of technology, it's been easier than ever to watch and stream movies instantly from the comfort of one's home for viewing on one's flat screen television or computer. Old media in many ways represents the centralized broadcast mode of information to the decentralized networked model of the information age (Flew, 2002). This transformation of new media through websites like hulu.com or Netflix.com has made entertainment a more isolated experience and continues to do so. This may be due to the fact that the mp3 has had a huge impact upon both the music industry and societies listeners. Weinstock stated that, "the world of the mp3 is a fast–growing music technology available to anyone with Internet access. Fan are promoting the mp3 as the most personalized music form ever created that will propel music into the next millennium" (9). The invention of the mp3 is notable for producing and changing the music industry's role through the changed in the copyright and ownership issues. In what follows, I will argue how the face of online music is changing mp3 players. Firstly, through examining the numerous ways people can download and transfer music onto their mp3 handheld player. Through drawing upon the concepts of YouTube; a website for posting video clips, iTunes; a digital media player application, Spotfiy; a music streaming service and 'mp3.com'; a company to emerge around the idea of free music. Secondly, I will discuss the mp3 player not as software, but as an object that is constantly connected between our body and new media. I will formulate the notions of remediation and analogue to digital media as key terms that have allowed the mp3 to become such a prominent form that was crucial to the experience of music. Technologies are cultural objects that are created by other people, which give information about the creator and its users. Every ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Advantages Of Watching Movies On The Cinema At the present, people pay attention to watch movie more than the past, so the movie industry tries to find an alternative way to attract audiences. One way to attract them is watching movie on the internet at home. This way is very popular because it has many advantages that watching movie at the cinema does not have. There are main 3 causes why people choose to watch movie on the internet instead of watching at the cinema. Flexibility is the main reason why audiences are interested in watching movies on the internet. Everybody loves convenience which is provided by the online movie distributors. Especially, it makes them feel good while watching movies. Firstly, the schedule is not fixed. Audiences can watch movies anytime and anywhere they want if they have a good internet connection. It is not necessary to check the schedule and rush to go to the cinema. For example, people can watch movies at 2 a.m. on the internet while the cinema is closed. Furthermore, it has no rules to follow. Our focus is on developing robust feature extraction algorithms that encode image regions as high dimensional feature vectors that support high accuracy human/non–human decisions. To test our feature sets we adopt a relatively simple learning framework that uses linear Support Vector Machines to classify each possible image region as a Human or as a non–Human. This work makes three main contributions. Firstly, we introduce grids of locally normalized Histograms of Oriented Gradients (HOG) as descriptors for people detection in static images. The HOG descriptors are computed over dense and overlapping grids of spatial blocks, with image gradient orientation features extracted at fixed resolution and gathered into a high dimensional feature vector. They are designed to be robust to small changes in image contour locations and directions, and significant changes in image illumination and color. Secondly, the Human detection algorithm has to be executed on modern parallel platforms to achieve the detection goal in real time. Thirdly, alert video monitoring station with an indication. The company has three main departments: domestic streaming, international streaming, and domestic DVD. Currently, Netflix streams to over 190 countries, with a combined worldwide viewership of 93 million. 1.1 History Netflix was founded in Scotts Valley, California by Marc Randolph and Reed Hastings on August 29, 1997 (Keating, 2012). The initial focus of the business was DVD rental by mail, which was a new technology at the time. The business was launched on April 14, 1998, with 30 employees and a catalogue of 925 DVDs. The company is also organized to leverage on its massive scale by fully utilizing all the benefits it confers, such as usership data and continued global expansion. It is thus a long term competitive advantage. 4.2 Strong Branding Netflix has become synonymous with Internet video streaming; users often envisage watching Netflix instead of watching individual shows. These trends are not confined to European or American music markets. Baidu, China's largest online search company, recently signed a deal with rights holders to license music on its website for both free download and streaming (Hille, 2011). The surge in popularity has led some to believe that the digital music market represents the recording industry's next sustainable business model, along with diversification into live events and merchandise. However, relatively little is understood about the consumer who uses a combination of legal and illegal sources to acquire music a la carte. In the decade prior to the Internet, the music industry was relatively healthy overall with worldwide sales peaking in 1998 (Baym, 2010). Since then, peer–to–peer (P2P) networks such as Napster have contributed to the decline in sales of CDs. There is some disagreement about the extent to which file sharing has negatively impacted the recording; however, evidence points to copyright infringement as a significant factor. The digitalization of music effectively removed the industry's monopoly on high–quality reproduction so that illegal copies were of equal standard to the original (May, 2007). Concomitantly, the intangible nature of digital music has resulted in new consumption practices. Efforts to counter digital piracy have primarily used legal mechanisms to dismantle P2P networks and prosecute file sharers. More ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a bigger company Blockbuster has the financial funds to attract more subscribers using heavy marketing. This entry directly enters Netflix's niche market and now Netflix has to find a way to differentiate. For starters, what would be Netflix's entry strategy to these new markets? If Netflix would open a subsidiary in Europe it would not have problems like the latter but it would need investors since financing the whole subsidiary may present a problem for Netflix. Another issue is that Europe, as a difference to the US, is consisted of many small independent countries with their own laws and import tariffs so this could be a problem as well. Another problem is the customers preferences. If Netflix would try to ship movies from the US (which would also present shipping costs) the European customers might not like US movies that much. Blockbuster without funding and getting increasing competition from such companies as Amazon.com, Apple, and Hulu, who at the time basically dominate the digital entertainment streaming industry, really only added to Blockbuster's and Netflix issues/problems. Moreover, blockbuster's in no way recovered, and in May–2011, Blockbuster was bought by the DISH satellite network for a few hundred million dollars. The reason at the time was unknown, except for the fact that in the past, they both form an alliance to sell DISH satellite packages in stores and to share video–on–demand proceeds, for which Blockbuster's never gained control of this market at all. Furthermore, by July 2011, DISH announced that it would be able to continue to run 1,500 out of 3,000 Blockbuster stores, which would serve 100 million customers. The remaining 1,500 was liquidated. DISH announced, in Sept–2011, it would provide its subscribers a media download rental system similar to Netflix's, but at a discount price. "Binge–watching" is a popular term to describe how consumers interact with the service (Jenner, 2016). This is due to how Netflix has differentiated itself from its competitors, especially early on. Netflix was at the forefront of internet content streaming. The service allows viewers to watch high– quality content whenever and wherever they want. This was a huge change from before when consumers had to subscribe to content channels such as HBO or Showtime through their cable provider and wait for a show they like to come on. Netflix's competitors are Hulu and Amazon Prime, but Netflix is the clear leader in the content streaming market. The iPhone 7+ targets its market by offering a top–of–the–line smart phone that is equipped with an efficient operating system. Their main competitor in the market is Samsung. Apple has not done much in recent years to compete with Samsung, even purchasing Samsung displays for their upcoming iPhone 8. However, in comparison to other competitors, the iPhone 7+ positions itself by offering one of the best cameras, stereo quality speakers, and an HD display. Edushape's Marublous Marble Run is more of a niche product. The product's overall design is unique and that alone differentiates itself in the toy market.
