Brown Recluse Research Paper
While almost all spiders have venom and possess the ability to bite, most arachnids found in New
Jersey pose little to no risk to humans. With that said, a few potentially dangerous species do reside
in Jersey, and knowing the habit and appearance of these venomous spiders can help you avoid
them.
Brown Recluse Spider
An adult brown recluse (Loxosceles reclusa) measures between 6 and 11 millimeters with a dark
brown to dull yellow coloring. The most distinctive characteristic is the violin or fiddle–shape mark
located on the cephalothorax. Unlike other spiders who have 8 eyes, the brown recluse only has six.
However, counting the eyes of a spider can be a bit difficult without a magnifying glass or
microscope. The brown recluse dwells in barns, homes, basements, storage boxes, woodpiles,
behind furniture and various other dark, sheltered areas. The brown recluse hunts for its food and
doesn't use its web for catching prey.
A bite from the brown recluse may go undetected until symptoms start to appear several hours later.
In serious cases, tissue damage, necrosis or open wounds that won't heat can occur from the bite of
this spider. The bite also poses a fatal risk to children, the elderly and individuals suffering from a

The infamous black widow has long been thought of as a deadly spider that bites at whim. While it's
true that the bite from a black widow is serious, the spider itself is not aggressive and is instead
considered rather shy. Most bites occur when the black widow feels threatened or is attacked. While
there are several species in the black widow family, the Northern Black Widow (Latrodectus
variolus) is the species mostly commonly found in New Jersey. This spider loves dark, secluded
locations, such as basements, dimly lit corners, garages, closets, woodpiles and

Spider Persuasive Speech
What's an arachnid, has eight legs, and shoot venom with its fangs? Spiders. Believe it or not spiders
are on every continent of this world and are practically inescapable creatures. There are more than
forty thousand different types of spiders roaming on this earth. To make matters worse, you find
yourself home alone heading straight for your bed and their it is: a creepy, crawly beast with a leg
span of 13 inches. You find yourself in a horrific panic and don't know how to eliminate it. Here's
how you do it in three simple steps: Killing a spider involves accessing the situation, gathering
killing material, and murdering it. First, to kill a spider you must assess the situation without scaring
the arachnid away. Once you identify that the spider is moving at the speed of a greased ninja, you
take a closer look at its limitations and surroundings. Identifying if the spider is even dangerous or
not is an essential component to this process. In the meantime, research common types of deadly
spiders in your city. Is it a harmless arachnid or is it perhaps a brown recluse or maybe a black
widow? Although most spiders are completely harmless, there is a chance it could be dangerous. If
the arachnid turns out to be deadly, take a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lure your prey by approaching it calmly with subtle movements. As soon as the spider is not
moving grab the appropriate killing tool and strike. Attempt to swat, suck up, or violently spray the
arachnid. If the spider is squirming its legs it means it is suffering and on the verge of death. Keep
attempting to murder it until it no longer moves. Once it is completely paralyzed, put on gloves and
grab paper towels to pick it up. To prevent the spread of more arachnids forming immediately throw
it away and take out the garbage. In brief, the murdering process is the last step in killing a

Hydra Vs Grasshopper Research Paper
There are differences between a hydra and a grasshopper; that all begins with how they digest their
food intake. In one thing they are similar and that is how they have an extracellular digestion. When
an animal has an extracellular digestion means that "the breakdown of food in compartments that are
continuous with the outside of the animal's body" (Reese 899). Examples of an extracellular
digestion is when an animal has a gastrovascular cavity or a alimentary canal. First, a hydra is a
predatory animal and belongs to the phylum Cnidaria and the class Hydrozoa. A hydra has a simple
body plan, this is common because animals like this have "a digestive compartment with a single
opening this pouch, called a gastrovascular cavity, functions in digestion as well as in the
distribution of nutrients throughout the body"(Reese 889). In simple words a gastrovascular cavity
has a single opening and works as both a mouth and an anus. For instance, a hydra uses its ... Show

Grasshoppers differ from hydras because they are animals who contain a alimentary canal. An
alimentary canal is "a complete digestive tract, consisting of a tube running between a mouth and an
anus" (Reese G–2). When an animal has a alimentary canal it allows the to "ingest food while earlier
meals are still being digested, a feat that is likely to be difficult or inefficient for an animal with a
gastrovascular cavity" (Reese 900). There are many features to an alimentary canal, most of which
include accessory glands which also include salivary glands, pancreas, liver, and gallbladder. The
salivary glands are in charge of lubricating the food and moistening the mouth, it's also produces
amylase which is an enzyme to help break down carbohydrates. Also in the alimentary canals the
food gets pushed by a process called peristalsis. There are also sphincters, which "regulate the
passage of material between compartments" (Reese

Why Batman Is Better Than Spider-Man
Can Batman be a bit better than spider–man? Batman can beat spider–man using his own attacks
against him. One weapon batman can use to his advantage is the batarang, which can cut spider–
man's silk, and has a variety of memes funnier than spider–man's memes. Spider–man's life is not as
bad as Batman's life, because of his parents dying; He then becomes dark and more dank than
Spider–man. Spider–man got his powers from a radioactive spider, while Batman got his powers
from seeing his parents die from a scrub like thug that has no life and no memes.
Villains were created for Spider–man to make his life worse, because he got lucky he didn't die from
getting bit from the radioactive spider. Batman got lucky he didn't get shot by the wannabe thug. ...

Spider–man's life is worse than batman's because, his grandfather said the more luckier someone is
than the other, they will have bad luck paired with them to balance life out. Same goes for bad luck,
when it is also paired with good luck for balancing life because if balancing was filthy, nothing
would be possible in the universe. For battles against the villains, spider–man used his silk and the
environment for his advantage, while Batman also used the environment to his advantage, he had
also used his intelligence for the upper hand in battles. Bats and spiders do relate to their thinking
like both batman and spider–man unlike some spiders, some do not need silk to catch their prey.
Jumping spiders never need silk. They can hop almost forty times their body weight. Some people
like jumping spiders because they look cute up close, while others think spiders are ugly and bushy.
Some people despise the arachnids because they look creepy and crawly, but it is more scared of
people than of spiders. Spiders are usually scared of humans because they are smaller than humans
and the fact they can be out runned. Bats are a different story compared to all the animals in the

Arthropods are Small but Mighty
Arthropods ensure that the human race exists and yet many people do not even know what they are.
Arthropods are invertebrates that have external skeletons, segmented bodies, and jointed
appendages. In other words, arthropods are the tiny creepy crawlies that we try and avoid every day.
Although they may seems disgusting without them we would not be alive. Arthropods have stamped
out hunger and fed the world. They have united us as a planet and spread ideas and beliefs. They
have ensured we can farm and that animals can survive ("BBC Documentary – Insect Worlds: Them
& Us – Episode 1."). They may be small but they are mighty.
Without arthropods millions of people would go hungry. Over 80% of the world consumes insects,
which are famous arthropods ("U.N. Suggests Eating Bugs to Fight World Hunger."). In Kenya,
villagers swing baskets into the air to catch flies. Once they catch the flies they fry them in hot oil
and eat them. Those fly patties have seven times more protein than a beef burger. In a place where
protein is scarce, this food is very important to their health. Caterpillars are also a great source of
protein that are eaten by hundreds of people all over the world. People also consume eleven million
crustaceans a year, another popular edible arthropod ("BBC Documentary – Insect Worlds: Them &
Us – Episode 1."). The united nations has even suggested that eating insects will help solve the
global hunger issue (TechMediaNetwork). Even though this may seem repulsive to

The Fortunato : A Short Story : Montresor
"Hey, Fortunato!" Yelled Montresor, my mentally deranged neighbor from outside. Originally, I was
on my couch comfortably catching up on a comic series, when his annoying voice disturbed my
train of thought. Glancing out my window I could see Montresor looking strangely excited, and
waving at me while leaning over the fence connecting our yards. Accordingly, I stood up to talk to
him and opened my front door to be introduced by the autumn smell and the wind blowing. While I
was shutting the door behind me as Montresor was already attempting to accost me.
"Fortunato, I will be leaving for this day to venture to my Fathers. Shall you so kindly, perhaps be
able to take care of my dog for the day, I will owe you one as the kids say!" Said, Fortunato, as I
walked closer to him.
"Wowie, you would choose I? Such an honor!"
"Splendid! Thou is true about you, a real lifesaver around these parts! Alright, I vow to be back
soon! Farewell!" Consequently, Montresor turned around to go into his driveway to enter his Tesla
Model S. Soon, I could hear the engine start as Montresor pulled out of his driveway and vanished
down the road. Nevertheless, I had nothing better to do but go inside Montresor's house and see
what it is like, and of course take care of Montresor's dog. The home dated back real far to the
1800s, I'm surprised they haven't torn it down before. Ordinarily, I walked up the cracked driveway
to be approached by the old door. My hand grabbed the aged handle and pulled,

Tarantula Research Paper
Tarantulaś are harmless to humans even though their hairy bodies give humans the creeps. Tarantula
comes from a town called Taranto Italy. The kingdom for a tarantula is called animalia because a
tarantula is a heterotrophic that motile during one stage life. Phylum of a tarantula is arthropoda
because it has jointed appendages, a chitinous exoskeleton, and a segmented body. The class that the
tarantula belongs to is arachnida which also belongs to the subphylum chelicerata. Tarantula has
eight legs and 2 more appendages that are used for sensory adaptations, feeding, and able to move.
The order for the tarantula is araneae which have 4 pairs of legs, no antennae, and two body parts.

A tarantulaś perceives its surroundings primarily via sensory organs. Touch is its keenest since in
hunting it depends on vibrations giving off by the movements of its prey. A tarantulaś hair and spine
are very sensitive and are used to sense chemical signatures, vibrations, wind direction, and possibly
sound. Tarantula has eyes that are small and are usually set in two rows of four and are not able to
see much more than light, darkness, and motion.
Male tarantulas are bright in color, smaller in size, and are more active than females. Females tend
to be plumper and more relax. It is usually impossible to tell male from female in juvenile spiders.
In adults you need to look right after a molt. At that time, a male will exhibit a structure called the
pal pal bulb on the underside of the front leg–like structure called the pedipalp. He then uses his
pedipalps to deposit sperm into female´s reproductive organs on the underside of her abdomen Male
tarantulas are smaller than females, making copulation dangerous for them. Reproduction of a
tarantula is very complicated. Summer and fall are the usual time for tarantulas to mate. The male
tarantula searches for a female late at night and in the evening. As the males travel over a great
distance at times, humans who see them sometimes assume they are migrating. Actually this is
simply part of the mating process of tarantulas. When he finds a willing female waiting in

Writer's Web:The Essence of Writing Well as Told by E.B....
The children's novel Charlotte's Web by E.B. White is not only an esteemed story of friendship, it
also offers an illustration for what White considers to be good writing. Writing is like manufacturing
textiles or creating a web, as it is something that takes skill to be woven and crafted. Although
Charlotte's Web is introduced to children in order to provide them with a heartfelt story of friendship
and a base to strengthen their reading skills, the novel also explicates what it takes to be a good
writer. The features that White exemplifies as characteristics of good writing in Charlotte's Web are
that it takes time to think about, is well planned out, is able to persuade, is concise, is integrated and
smooth, and is not stressed. Great writing, like anything of real value, does not just happen in an
instant. Diamonds take time to form, people take time to grow, knowledge takes time to learn, and
good writing takes time to think about1. It should incubate in the mind for a little while until it is
ready to hatch, just like an egg.2 In Charlotte's Web, one of the main characters Charlotte
demonstrates that writing is something that takes time to think about. In response to Wilbur's
question, "How are you going to save me?," Charlotte replies, "I don't really know. But I'm working
on a plan" (pg. 63). Charlotte here establishes that when you come up with an idea, one might not
always know where the idea is going to go, or how it is going to get there. Therefore, she shows

Curleys Wife Analysis
Curly's Wife
Curlys Wife is a very powerful and yet powerless character within the novel Of Mice and Men as
Steinbeck uses her to reflect the prejudice against women in the 1930s since they had very little
rights. Just from her title "Curlys Wife" she has no actual name, this shows that she is just Curlys
property and powerless in the sense that she hasn't got her own individual identity, only an identity
through her husband, also she doesn't have enough power to be called a 'woman' instead she is
discriminated against and is called derogatory terms such as a "tart" when Slim first speaks of her to
George by saying "I think Curly married a tart" showing no respect for her

To conclude, Steinbeck uses Curlys Wife to get the readers awareness of how much women were

"That is a lot of garland. Do we have to put them all up?" I asked, hoping that we didn't have to put

I still wasn't alright with being up on the ladders. We were positioning the ladders and my mom

"No, I mean way higher," She said
"But we can't reach that high" Elena said, straining to get it any higher.
"Then move your ladders more," Mom said like it was so simple.
As we got down to move them I complained, "Mom we aren't tall enough to get the garland as high
as you want."
"Ok than you can work on something else for right now."
We got down from our ladders to work on the tables and we finally started to enjoy to ourselves.
After we had finished with the tables we went inside for a little bit of lunch and to get some hot
chocolate, but as we sat down to eat, I accidently dropped my plate. Luckily it landed right side up
on the table and it looked like nothing had happened. Elena started laughing so hard and soon,
everyone was laughing, including me.
After we had eaten and gone back up to the barn we decided to get all of the garland over with. I
slowly climbed up the ladder and I look down and felt a little light headed, then I looked up and saw
the wooden boards, that made me feel really dizzy. They looked like they were waiting for me to

My visual interpretation, I have decided to create a spider and the web as a center focus that creates

These identities were created by the dominant group on the way people should look, speak, or live

Descriptive Essay On The Spider
The Spider(s)
I woke up like any other day from my deep sleep when my alarm clock started blasting after
repeatedly hitting snooze ten times. Looking up at it I realize it's my day off and curse at it for
waking me up. After stretching I recall the dream I had. It was the most bizarre thing ever. It felt
real, to real for my comfort zone. I was slowly getting ready for work, when I tripped over my feet
trying to put my shoes on. My focus lands on this medium brownish black dot in the middle of the
wooden floor. Realizing what it is I let the fear begin to consume my whole being. It's as if all those
eight eyes are staring at me, waiting to chase me at the right moment when my guard is down. I can
see it twitching, focusing all of it's energy to jump on my face. But before it can do that I begin to
get up. Hoping that I was going fast enough but slow enough but I wouldn't trigger it to pounce on
me. Once I got on my feet I dashed to the kitchen feeling relieved to get away from it. As I'm
looking for something that could squish the eight legged creature from existence I feel this tickle on
the back of my leg slowly moving upwards. Knowing what it is, out of instinct I quickly reach down
and flick it off me. With A rolled up newspaper I turn around and see that the spider is nowhere to be
seen. I go to the spot I saw it land but it's as if it just upped and poofed it's way into hiding. I can't
just leave it to roam around, it's like guerilla warfare. I'm

Paired Arthropods
The universality of body segments with paired appendages in arthropods indicates that at least some
parts of the developmental networks responsible for segmentation and appendage patterning cannot
be changed. Arthropods are developmentally constrained in that these networks must be conserved
and in that the networks for alternative appendage development do not exist. Variations in parts of
the developmental pathways responsible for segmentation and appendage patterning explain the
differences in body plan across the phylum. However, certain portions of the pathway must be
conserved, resulting in body segments with paired appendages in all arthropods. Research on the
developmental pathways that control segmentation in arthropods has shown that gene expression is
more highly conserved across the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, though the pattern of expression of pair–rule genes may vary across arthropods, they
are consistently activated during development and play an important role in determining body
segments (Damen, 2007). Compared to genes further upstream in the segmentation pathway, pair–
rule genes are highly conserved. The Notch/Delta system is much more divergent among arthropods
(Damen, 2007). Though Notch/Delta signaling plays an important role in Drosophila development,
it is not greatly involved in segmentation in Drosophila or other insects, but is very important in
segmentation in chelicerates (Damen, 2007). Additionally, while gap genes are crucial to
determining segmentation in insects, they play a much less significant role in non–insect arthropods
like chelicerates and myriapods (Damen, 2007). Genes involved in appendage patterning in
arthropods are also highly conserved. The

Summary and Personal Response– Draft Version
This is a summary and personal response to essay " Farm Girl" by Jessica Hemauer.
This is a story about a girl who's childhood was spent working on her parents farm, while most of
her friends enjoyed their childhood playing sports, watching TV and socializing with other kids.
Even though she spent her time working on the farm, this experience was very valuable to her. It
thought her to be responsible, that helping your family is very important and that "fitting" in is not
always the best thing.
Main points
Each child in the family had their responsibilities in the barn. They all helped each other with their
duties and Jessica being the youngest child had a duty of feeding the newborn ... Show more content

"During all these activities, I always notice that I stick out from the group." While she always
wanted to fit it with everyone else she finds out that she is much better off the way she is. Her life
has thought her responsibility, ability to manage time and has shaped her into the individual she is
today. She is considered hard working and able to take on more responsibility.
Farm Girl by Jessica Hemauer is a memoir about a young girl working on her parents farm. This
was written for your audience to show them her life and how difference experiences shaped her into
the responsible your woman. The tone is depressing at times but it still focuses on positive outcome.
" Though I hated it growing up, working on the farm has taught me many lessons about life, and it
has shaped me into the individual I am today."
My emotional response
I chose to write about this memoir because it reminded me so much about my life growing up. I had
to work on the farm at a very young age and therefore have missed many different things that my
friends got to do. I couldn't go to the pool in the summer time , I had to help my family grow
watermelon's, pick cherries and take care of the farm animals. I didn't have TV until I was twelve
years old. I went to school, came home, did my homework and then I had to help with the farm. I
often think about my childhood and wonder how it would have been if I didn't have to work so
much. I miss

Drumming Wolf Spider
The Wolf spider belongs to the Lycosidae family. They are a part of the Arthropod phylum as they
are characterized by having an exoskeleton, coelom, an open circulatory system and body segments
with jointed appendages. Arthropods evolved by substituting the coelom for a protective
exoskeleton. It was not entirely lost, but still remains in some parts of the reproductive and excretory
systems. (Ruppert et al. 2004) Lycosidae are in the Araneae order as they are arthropods with four
pairs of legs with chelicerae that contains venomous glands. (Ruppert et al. 2004)

The Lycosidae uses its chelicerae to hold its prey before using its venomous fangs into paralysing it.
(Nicholas, 2011) Similarly, snakes inject venom quickly into its prey and waits for it to immobilise
before digesting it, this adaptation prevents preys from escaping and increases its chance of survival.
The Wolf spider and Nursery web spider (Pisauridae) are closely related and both exhibit similar but
different characteristics which highlights the divergences of the species. They both have eight eyes
which puts them in the superfamily Lycosoidea, the Pisauridae has similar sized eyes whilst the wolf
spider has two big eyes at the front and six smaller ones. Their maternal care is also alike; the wolf
spider carries its egg sac from its spinnerets for 4–6 weeks whilst Pisauridae carries its egg sacs in
their chelicerae for 2–3 weeks before building a protective tent to safe guard them in. (Nicholas,
2011).
Since Wolf Spiders are poor dispersers (Marshall et al, 2000), they are likely to be affected by
human activity such as habitat destruction from land clearing, and pesticides used on crops and
grasses. This is likely to affect the Wolf Spider as habitat destruction would not only remove its
home, but also cause the removal of prey

The Disturbing Visitor Of Anxiety
The Unwelcomed Visitor Nights use to be peaceful until Auggie decided to come for an extended
visit. At first he wasn't bothersome but, as the weeks went on, the more annoying he became. By the
fifth year he had definitely overstayed his welcome. Anxiety, or Auggie as it has come to be known
at our house, that exasperating voice in my husband's head that creates apprehension and fear of
impending doom. There have been many discussions concerning Auggie over the years, and we
have come to the same conclusion. Anxiety doesn't help solve the problem, often times the problem
doesn't even exist. My husband's anxiety had gotten out of control and it seemed to consume his
every thought. One day we decided that, instead of being afraid or frustrated over his anxiety, why
not give it a name. We each took a turn trying to find the perfect moniker. It was like trying to name
a child. We knew that his anxiety was part of our lives, and we wanted a name we both thought
suitable. We agreed that Auggie was the best choice. Furthermore, by giving my husband's anxiety a
name, we are no longer afraid of it, recognize that it isn't something that could not be discussed, and
laugh about it at times. . To emphasize Auggie's ruthlessness, one morning my husband told me he
felt like he hadn't slept all night. When asked why, his response was, Auggie had come for his usual
visit. He explained he dreamt Auggie put him in charge of a fleet of ships, and his job was to make
sure the ships were

Charlotte's Web Essay examples
Charlotte's Web Charlotte's Web is a moving story about farm animals. Many writers use abstract
and abstruse diction to interpret a particular idea but E. B. White is different. The language used, the
style, and the plots in this book are very humorous that I find it so impressive. The author, E. B.
White, excels in creating animal characters that can talk and feel normally like humans as a simple
farm was depicted as a lively family.

Another word 'HUMBLE' is woven by her, which keeps on attracting people at the fair. At last,
Wilbur wins the special prize for 'the most terrific, radiant and humble pig that has fascinated many
visitors to the great County Fair'. This is the greatest moment in both the lives of Wilbur and
Charlotte. From then on, Wilbur is cleared of being killed, and instead, he receives a most
comfortable life.
However, good times don't last long for Charlotte, as she becomes feebler and feebler and she dies
soon after Wilbur's triumph, leaving an egg sac which carries all her eggs. Eventually, Wilbur, being
the best friend of her, brings the egg sac home for Charlotte's sake and he is glad to see her next
generation later in spring.
You may find it ridiculous to come across such unusual friendship – friendship between a spider and
a pig. They belong to two animal species which are worlds apart. Spiders are cold–blooded and
always occupy dark corners, capturing insects; while pigs are mammals that are used to living under
warm sunlight and hoping to be fed. See the difference? However, this story conveys to us a
message that a sincere friendship will not be wavered by external factors such as nationalities,
religions and family backgrounds. Charlotte and Wilbur are good examples. Charlotte, although
feeling weary and is about to lay eggs, comes with Wilbur

The Ramist Logic of Edward Taylor's Upon a Spider...
The Ramist Logic of Edward Taylor's Upon a Spider Catching a Fly
Like other Puritanical writers of his generation, Edward Taylor looked to nature and utilized it as an
example of a belief system that he had already deemed factual. The use Ramist logic here may seem
irrational to many. The very essence of logic commands that we must first look toward nature and
then draw conclusions from it. In his work, "Upon a Spider Catching a Fly", Taylor applies his
doctrine in advance by using the interaction between an arachnid and a certain contrasting insect as
an example of the Calvinist theory of predestination; the belief that one's fate cannot be influenced
by one's works or earthly deeds. It is also part of his belief system, however, that ... Show more

The reader is then introduced to the wasp who, by some folly, has become entangled in the spider's
treacherous web. Instead of immediately pouncing on the trapped wasp, the spider seems
instinctively aware that the Wasp has the ability to overpower him and therefore maintains a safe
distance. "Lest he should fling/ His sting./ But as afraid, remote/ Didst stand hereat." Instead, the
spider is afraid that if provoked, the wasp would damage his web. "Lest he should pet,/ And in a
froppish, waspish heat/ Should greatly fret Thy net." In a description of the type of retaliation that
would ensue if the wasp is provoked, Taylor opts to use the word "waspish", creating an adjective
from the very noun that he is using it to describe. Through such a choice of grammar, Taylor is
indicating that being a wasp is synonymous with being successfully defensive.
In utter juxtaposition to the "pettish wasp" is "the silly fly, Caught by his leg". Although in a similar
situation to the wasp, the fly is destined for doom. Unlike its foil, it is ill–equipped to defend itself
against the evil spider. The spider, as if innately aware of the fly's weakness, immediately devours
the fly. "Thou by the throat took hastily And 'hind the head Bite dead." The fly never has a chance of
liberation once within the deadly grasp of the spider's web. It is as if it has been created as
defenseless by nature just as the wasp has been created with the

The Story Of A Short Story
It was a nice October day and Bertha and her family were out on a hike in the woods when
suddenly, SQUISH! Bertha heard a bug crush underneath her foot. "Eww," she stated in disgust, "I
just stepped on a spider!" Bertha desperately tried to get the spider guts off of her shoe as her dad
said, "You should have watched where you were walking sweetie! That spider could have a family
that it was trying to get back to!" Berthas dad had a thing about not killing bugs because he claims
that what goes around comes around, but Bertha thought it was silly since they were just
meaningless bugs. "Yeah okay," Bertha sighed. So Bertha, her mom, her dad, and her sister Delaney
all continued their hike but Bertha kept on killing the small bugs that would land on her arms. Once
the hike was over, her family drove home in their black SUV. The rest of the day was as normal as it
could be and Bertha's friends came over and they hung out for a while and played video games.
After they left, Bertha was tired so her mom told her she should take a nap. "I'm thirteen years old I
shouldn't need to take naps anymore!" Bertha said in disgust although a nap did sound good to her at
the moment. Since she didn't want to take a nap, she decided to do her homework that she was
assigned over the weekend. Bertha worked well into the night on her homework that she even forgot

Old Barn Research Paper
The history of a barn can tell someone a lot about a place and the values of that place. Restoring a
barn takes time and effort, just like anything good in life. Barns are used for much more than just a
storage place, and they can describe a location or be part of a place's history. An old barn could just
be a pile of rotting wood, but by the same token, the Mona Lisa could simply be described as a piece
of canvas with some pigments attached. As one can see, when looking at barns through different
perspectives, one might gain a new appreciation. Barn preservation is an important way for the
values of a society to be preserved just as certainly as art preservation helps society to celebrate and
remember its heritage. The decreasing number of farmers in the US is one reason why people are
losing knowledge of where food actually comes from. Agriculture gets lost with people who are ...

remember to shut the pop–holes. With the ring of light from his lantern dancing from side to side, he
lurched across the yard, kicked off his boots at the back door, drew himself a last glass of beer from
the barrel in the scullery, and made his way up to bed, where
Mrs. Jones was already snoring.
As soon as the light in the bedroom went out there was a stirring and a fluttering all through the

Boxer was an enormous beast, nearly eighteen hands high, and as strong as any two ordinary horses
put together. A white stripe down his nose gave him a somewhat stupid
appearance, and in fact he was not of first–rate intelligence, but he was universally respected for his
steadiness of character and tremendous powers of work. After the horses came Muriel, the white
goat, and Benjamin, the donkey. Benjamin was the oldest animal on the farm, and the worst
tempered. He seldom talked, and when he did, it was usually to make some cynical remark––for
instance, he would say that God had given him a tail to keep the flies off, but that he would sooner
have had no tail and no flies. Alone among the animals on the farm he never laughed. If asked why,
he would say that he saw nothing to laugh at. Nevertheless, without openly admitting it, he was
devoted to Boxer; the two of them usually spent their
Sundays together in the small paddock beyond the orchard, grazing side by side and never speaking.
The two horses had just lain down when a brood of ducklings, which had lost their mother, filed into
the barn, cheeping feebly and wandering from side to side to find some place where they would not
be trodden on. Clover made a sort of wall round them with her great foreleg, and the ducklings
nestled down inside it and promptly fell asleep. At the last moment

The Pandinus Imperator a.k.a. Emperor Scorpion
The Pandinus imperator, also known as the Emperor Scorpion or the Imperial Scorpion, is native to
the hot, humid forests and savannas of Nigeria, Togo, Sierra Leone, Ghana, and the Congo Region.
The Emperor Scorpion is the largest, but not the longest of all the scorpions8. They are also not as
vicious as they look, they would rather flee than fight. However, if they are cornered they will turn
aggressive and go to defensive position. Their venom is categorized as mild and is only as harmful
as a bee sting, unless you are allergic. Their large pedipalps (pinchers) are strong enough to draw
blood from a human. In this paper the topic that will be discussed is how human action can improve
the terrestrial environment that is home to the Emperor Scorpion. Humans need to stop keeping
them as pets, slow down deforestation, and plant more tress. The Emperor Scorpion belongs to the
phylum Arthropoda, the name Arthropoda means jointed feet. An arthropod is an organism that has a
hard exoskeleton made out of a hard substance called chitin. Its body is segmented and each part of
its body has its own pair of legs, which are jointed, and it is also an invertebrate10. An invertebrate
is an organism that lacks a vertebral column which is also called a backbone11. Every phylum of
invertebrates has its own special characteristics, for example cnidarians, of the phylum Cnidaria,

An Analysis Of Peter Pan, By J. M. Golding 's ' I Die...
J. M. Barrie, the author of Peter Pan, said: "To die would be an awfully big adventure." I believe it
would be. I have had many experiences with almost dying. I have had many experiences where my
life had flashed before my eyes. April 4th, 2014, I almost died 27 times. On that date, I looked death
right in the face, and laughed at it.
In the summer, I was supposed to go to a girls camp for my church. There were a few requirements
we had to pass off before going. One of them was a 3 mile hike and a camping trip. We decided to
hit 2 birds with 1 stone. So we set a date to go camping with the girls who were going to camp.
There were about 16 girls who decided they would go. We set off on our 1 night trip on April 4th,
2014. It started off normal. A regular trail through the woods. The path started to get thinner and
thinner as we walked on it. We then got to a part where we had to go over a log that was partly
hanging over a chasm. I peered over the edge to see thousands of sharp rocks and a large pool of
rushing water. After 3 girls had gone over the log safely, it was my turn. I slowly put my right leg
over the enormous log. I had made sure to steady myself before putting my left leg over. After I had
done so, I threw my left leg over and sat on the log. Then I put my right foot on the ground. I
thought I was safe, but my left foot 's, shoelace got caught on the rugged wood. I pulled with force,
but that was a bad idea. I got it undone, but that force threw me off balance

Spiders In The World Research Paper
What about all the spiders in the world?
There's a well–known factoid that claims you're always within a few feet of a spider. Is this true?
Arachnologist[3] [4] Chris Buddle wrote a good article on this question; as you might expect, it's not
literally true. Spiders don't live in the water,[5] so you can get away from them by swimming, and
there aren't as many spiders in buildings as in fields and forests. But if you're anywhere near the
outdoors, even in the Arctic tundra, there are probably spiders within a few feet of you.
Regardless of whether the factoid is precisely true or not, there are an awful lot of spiders out there.
Exactly how many is hard to say, but we can do some rough estimation. A 2009 study actually
measured the total mass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spider distributions are discrete, not continuous,[9] and some areas have more spiders than others.
What if there happen to be a lot of spiders near you?
Although three spider feet is only 9 inches.
In 2009, the Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant found themselves dealing with what they
called an "extreme spider situation." An estimated 80 million orb–weaving spiders had colonized the
plant, covering every surface with heavy sheets of web.[10] The whole thing is detailed in a
fascinating and horrifying article published by the Entomological Society of America.[12]
What was the total force of gravity from all those spiders? First we need their mass; according to a
paper titled Sexual Cannibalism in Orb–Weaving Spiders: An Economic Model, it's about 20 grams
for males and several times that for females.[11] So even if you were standing next to the Black
River Wastewater Treatment Plant in 2009, the pull of all the spiders inside would still be only
1/50,000,000th that of the Sun.
No matter which way you look at it, the bottom line is that we live our lives surrounded by tiny
spiders on a world completely dominated by a gigantic star.
Hey, at least it's not the other way

The Sound Of The Gunshot Echoed Through The Hills
Bang! The sound of the gunshot echoed through the hills. In certain urban parts of America, the
sound of gunshots invoke fear into people. Gunshots symbolize murder, gangs, and brutality. In the
backwoods of Tennessee however these gunshots are normal. With hunting being a favorite sport of
many, it is not uncommon to hear shots ringing throughout the hills. Surrounded by woods, the
threat of wild animals wandering onto your property is much greater than that of living in the city.
To get a grasp of how it is growing up in Tennessee compared to the rest of the country, I
interviewed my roommate Will Anderson, a Tennessee native. People often fail to think about how
life is like in different parts of our country. As a society, we get so consumed in our own way of life
that it is often difficult to envision how life would be like in other regions. I never really thought
about the types of lives that other people grew up with until I was searching for colleges. Too often
do we rely on certain stereotypes about different parts of the country and not truly on how the
people are and how they actually live. When searching for a roommate, I failed to give much
thought about where my potential roommate was from and how it may affect how they act. When
my roommate Will contacted me and said he was from Tennessee, I thought it seemed pretty
interesting. Little did I know that the way he grew up was vastly different than the way I grew up.
The first thing I noticed when I met Will on

Arguments Against Doodle Armstrong's Death
I'm here to press charges against Doodle's brother for Doodle Armstrong's death, your honor. I'm

him, he treats Doodle with cruelty, and he can be selfish towards Doodle. He is guilty and should be
charged with a felony. I would like to start by saying that Doodle's brother could say some hurtful
things to Doodle that may discourage him. For example, "One day I took Doodle up to the barn loft,
and showed him his casket, telling him how we all believed he would die." (2) It was a poor choice
for his brother to make and it caused Doodle to get scared and worried about whether or not his life

strict instructions to not let Doodle get too excited, too cold, too hot, or too tired, and he must be

in pain.(2) The definition of abuse is to treat people with cruelty, and him doing this is an unruly
thing to do and it is in the Constitution that everyone shall be treated with respect and this certainly
is not respect. Therefore, charges can and will be pressed. Along with all of this, brother "dragged
Doodle across the burning field."(3) We have a video taken by someone else in the field that day. It
clearly shows brother dragging Doodle by the arms. It is on record that brother "heard Doodle cry
out, "brother, brother don't leave me" but, I ran as fast as I could leaving him far behind with a wall

Animals Needs : The Importance Of Animals And Animals
Without plants and animals, we would not be able to survive. Oceans and rivers have provided us
fishes to eat. We domesticated some wild animals to become out livestocks that provides us milk,
meat, and clothing. Wild canines became our hunting partners and bodyguards. Our forests are
pollinated by bats and birds, squirrels and bees. From these forests we were able to build houses for
shelter and fires to keep us warm. We have also used the woods to build ships to take us across
oceans, and books to write down our achievements. Wild animals have their own value, and own
reason for existing. Even after what these animals have given us, they are at risk of vanishing
because of us. They have helped us immensely but we are starting to take advantage of this. These
animals have thoughts and emotions that we try to ignore. Animals deserve to be treated with
respect and care because they are caring and has given a lot to the people around them and this
world. Animals are not as developed and advanced as humans. They are able to think just like us but
in a different approach. It is not as complicated as humans would think but there are some
similarities. They can come up with different strategies and think in patterns. They are not able to
use words to think so another way to portray their thinking is by seeing pictures. The wasp has a

A Day At the Fair
A Day At the Fair – Personal Narrative
It is Thursday, August 24th, the opening day of the Minnesota State Fair. I am here with my family,
a friend and his mom, and one of my sister's friends. It seems so long since last year's fair. I always
look forward to the state fair, even though it's pretty much the same every year.
We park at the same man's house every year. His house is right behind the mini–donut stand on
midway parkway, across the street from the main gate. As we pull into his driveway, I feel a pang of
excitement run through me, and when I get out, I can smell it. The smell is familiar, distinctive.
When the telltale aroma wafts into my nostrils, I remember why come to this thing every year. We
walk over to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Main seating is in the middle, bleacher seating is on either end. It is designed as a racing arena, so it
is very wide and not good, in my opinion, for concerts. They had to put up large movie screens on
both sides of the stage because you can't see the stage from the bleachers. There is a race every
Labor Day, the last day of the fair. You can hear the cars from all over the fairgrounds and it gets
really, really annoying after a while. Some artists appearing this year include Christina Aguilera,
Goo Goo Dolls, and "Weird Al" Yankovic. I plan on seeing Weird Al on Sunday.
The part of the Grandstand that we are going to now is the main building. It consists of two floors of
merchants selling all sorts of things, from pianos to software to golf clubs to the latest cooking
gizmos. A friend of ours works at the Nadachair booth. He is my sister's friend's teacher. We usually
visit him every year. A Nadachair is basically a cushion for your back with a strap around your waist
for extra support. The East Room is just a separate room with more of the same stuff. I usually don't
go there because it is uncomfortably hot in there. The main building and the East Room are under
the bleachers. Outside the grandstand is the Corn Roast. They sell grilled corn that is absolutely
fabulous. We each grab an ear, then head down the street towards the Giant Slide. The Giant Slide is
a green and yellow wavy slide that is about fifty feet tall and

Daddy Long Legs Vs Spider Research Paper
Spiders V.S. Daddy Long Legs
For many years people have said that Daddy Long Legs are the most poisonous spiders in the world
but their fangs are not long enough to puncture a human's skin. I find them both equally creepy, but
have decided to find out the true differences between these hair–raising, eight legged creatures.
Spiders and Daddy long legs are both arthropods and belong to the arachnid animal class. Although
they may look a lot alike, Daddy Long Legs are not spiders and in fact have several differences from
the spider.
The first difference that can help with identification between these two arachnids are their body
shape. Spiders have two noticeable body segments; they are the rounded head section and the
abdomen. Meanwhile, looking at the Daddy Long Leg, it looks as if there is only one segment. It
appears to have one oval–shaped body segment, but this is because the mid–section is much wider
and more difficult to see. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spiders usually have eight eyes; some have six or fewer, located on their face. Spiders may have
more than one set of eyes, but few have good eyesight. The average spider relies primarily on
smelling, touching, tasting and extreme sense of vibration to find their preys. Whereas, the Daddy
Long Leg has only one pair of eyes, which are located on the top of their heads, with a sideways
positioning, so they can look outward and above their heads. The Daddy Long Legs also have poor
eyesight, and use their longest legs as feelers as they wander about. They also secret a glue type
substance to help capture their

Animal Farm Journal Entry Analysis
Roughly a century after Napoleon's rule of Animal Farm, a young pig stumbled upon a dusty
leather–bound diary hidden away in the straw–strewn loft of the ramshackle barn. The same barn
which held those legendary meetings from long before. With a tentative trotter, the youngster filed
through the delicate pages, unconvering a story which to that point had remained untold. The story
of a raven from the days of old and his quest to lead his animal brethren to the religious truth
unfolded before the pig's eyes– the story of Moses. The following are the most significant entries
from his account of life on Animal farm.
Entry 1: Jones came home today grumbling about the animals and his farmhands again. At least he
took the time to throw me some scraps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I've overheard some animals suggesting that I do not help with laboring on the farm. This angers me
greatly, as I am participating in the only work that truly matters. Not everyone thinks I'm a crazy
bird though, some sheep and chickens have come to the light, and we are meeting regularly to
discuss our beliefs and theology. I am ahppy to see that my journey back to Animal Farm was not
frivolous.
Entry 5: This is a dark day. The pigs have gone too far. I was greatly pained when some of my most
loyal followers came to me in anguish as they knew they were going to be executed by Napoleon
and his dogs. All I could do was offer spiritual guidance to ensure that they found their way to
Sugarcandy Mountain. It has become clear to me that my true mission on this farm is to minister to
these evil, demonic pigs. If they can be converted, this whole farm can still be saved!
Entry 6: It has been quite some time since I've written here. It feels as though it's been decades
actually. Time passed, and with it, many of my followers and friends. To this point, my ministry to
the pigs has proven fruitless. Not one animal actually seems to hear my truth anymore, I have been
permanently labelled a crazy old bird. Well, at least I will end up on that mountain some day. I will
never forget those lives I saved, and what I saw in those

Brown Recluse Research Paper

  • 1. Brown Recluse Research Paper While almost all spiders have venom and possess the ability to bite, most arachnids found in New Jersey pose little to no risk to humans. With that said, a few potentially dangerous species do reside in Jersey, and knowing the habit and appearance of these venomous spiders can help you avoid them. Brown Recluse Spider An adult brown recluse (Loxosceles reclusa) measures between 6 and 11 millimeters with a dark brown to dull yellow coloring. The most distinctive characteristic is the violin or fiddle–shape mark located on the cephalothorax. Unlike other spiders who have 8 eyes, the brown recluse only has six. However, counting the eyes of a spider can be a bit difficult without a magnifying glass or microscope. The brown recluse dwells in barns, homes, basements, storage boxes, woodpiles, behind furniture and various other dark, sheltered areas. The brown recluse hunts for its food and doesn't use its web for catching prey. A bite from the brown recluse may go undetected until symptoms start to appear several hours later. In serious cases, tissue damage, necrosis or open wounds that won't heat can occur from the bite of this spider. The bite also poses a fatal risk to children, the elderly and individuals suffering from a weaken immune systems. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The infamous black widow has long been thought of as a deadly spider that bites at whim. While it's true that the bite from a black widow is serious, the spider itself is not aggressive and is instead considered rather shy. Most bites occur when the black widow feels threatened or is attacked. While there are several species in the black widow family, the Northern Black Widow (Latrodectus variolus) is the species mostly commonly found in New Jersey. This spider loves dark, secluded locations, such as basements, dimly lit corners, garages, closets, woodpiles and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Spider Persuasive Speech What's an arachnid, has eight legs, and shoot venom with its fangs? Spiders. Believe it or not spiders are on every continent of this world and are practically inescapable creatures. There are more than forty thousand different types of spiders roaming on this earth. To make matters worse, you find yourself home alone heading straight for your bed and their it is: a creepy, crawly beast with a leg span of 13 inches. You find yourself in a horrific panic and don't know how to eliminate it. Here's how you do it in three simple steps: Killing a spider involves accessing the situation, gathering killing material, and murdering it. First, to kill a spider you must assess the situation without scaring the arachnid away. Once you identify that the spider is moving at the speed of a greased ninja, you take a closer look at its limitations and surroundings. Identifying if the spider is even dangerous or not is an essential component to this process. In the meantime, research common types of deadly spiders in your city. Is it a harmless arachnid or is it perhaps a brown recluse or maybe a black widow? Although most spiders are completely harmless, there is a chance it could be dangerous. If the arachnid turns out to be deadly, take a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lure your prey by approaching it calmly with subtle movements. Once it is completely paralyzed, put on gloves and grab paper towels to pick it up. To prevent the spread of more arachnids forming immediately throw it away and take out the garbage. • 5. Hydra Vs Grasshopper Research Paper There are differences between a hydra and a grasshopper; that all begins with how they digest their food intake. In one thing they are similar and that is how they have an extracellular digestion. When an animal has an extracellular digestion means that "the breakdown of food in compartments that are continuous with the outside of the animal's body" (Reese 899). Examples of an extracellular digestion is when an animal has a gastrovascular cavity or a alimentary canal. First, a hydra is a predatory animal and belongs to the phylum Cnidaria and the class Hydrozoa. A hydra has a simple body plan, this is common because animals like this have "a digestive compartment with a single opening this pouch, called a gastrovascular cavity, functions in digestion as well as in the distribution of nutrients throughout the body"(Reese 889). In simple words a gastrovascular cavity has a single opening and works as both a mouth and an anus. For instance, a hydra uses its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Grasshoppers differ from hydras because they are animals who contain a alimentary canal. An alimentary canal is "a complete digestive tract, consisting of a tube running between a mouth and an anus" (Reese G–2). When an animal has a alimentary canal it allows the to "ingest food while earlier meals are still being digested, a feat that is likely to be difficult or inefficient for an animal with a gastrovascular cavity" (Reese 900). There are many features to an alimentary canal, most of which include accessory glands which also include salivary glands, pancreas, liver, and gallbladder. The salivary glands are in charge of lubricating the food and moistening the mouth, it's also produces amylase which is an enzyme to help break down carbohydrates. One weapon batman can use to his advantage is the batarang, which can cut spider– man's silk, and has a variety of memes funnier than spider–man's memes. Spider–man's life is not as bad as Batman's life, because of his parents dying; He then becomes dark and more dank than Spider–man. Spider–man got his powers from a radioactive spider, while Batman got his powers from seeing his parents die from a scrub like thug that has no life and no memes. Villains were created for Spider–man to make his life worse, because he got lucky he didn't die from getting bit from the radioactive spider. Spider–man's life is worse than batman's because, his grandfather said the more luckier someone is than the other, they will have bad luck paired with them to balance life out. Same goes for bad luck, when it is also paired with good luck for balancing life because if balancing was filthy, nothing would be possible in the universe. For battles against the villains, spider–man used his silk and the environment for his advantage, while Batman also used the environment to his advantage, he had also used his intelligence for the upper hand in battles. Bats and spiders do relate to their thinking like both batman and spider–man unlike some spiders, some do not need silk to catch their prey. Jumping spiders never need silk. They can hop almost forty times their body weight. Some people like jumping spiders because they look cute up close, while others think spiders are ugly and bushy. Some people despise the arachnids because they look creepy and crawly, but it is more scared of people than of spiders. Arthropods are invertebrates that have external skeletons, segmented bodies, and jointed appendages. In other words, arthropods are the tiny creepy crawlies that we try and avoid every day. Although they may seems disgusting without them we would not be alive. Arthropods have stamped out hunger and fed the world. They have united us as a planet and spread ideas and beliefs. They have ensured we can farm and that animals can survive ("BBC Documentary – Insect Worlds: Them & Us – Episode 1."). They may be small but they are mighty. Without arthropods millions of people would go hungry. Over 80% of the world consumes insects, which are famous arthropods ("U.N. Suggests Eating Bugs to Fight World Hunger."). In Kenya, villagers swing baskets into the air to catch flies. Once they catch the flies they fry them in hot oil and eat them. Those fly patties have seven times more protein than a beef burger. In a place where protein is scarce, this food is very important to their health. Caterpillars are also a great source of protein that are eaten by hundreds of people all over the world. People also consume eleven million crustaceans a year, another popular edible arthropod ("BBC Documentary – Insect Worlds: Them & Us – Episode 1."). The united nations has even suggested that eating insects will help solve the global hunger issue (TechMediaNetwork). Even though this may seem repulsive to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Fortunato : A Short Story : Montresor "Hey, Fortunato!" Yelled Montresor, my mentally deranged neighbor from outside. Originally, I was on my couch comfortably catching up on a comic series, when his annoying voice disturbed my train of thought. Glancing out my window I could see Montresor looking strangely excited, and waving at me while leaning over the fence connecting our yards. Accordingly, I stood up to talk to him and opened my front door to be introduced by the autumn smell and the wind blowing. While I was shutting the door behind me as Montresor was already attempting to accost me. "Fortunato, I will be leaving for this day to venture to my Fathers. Shall you so kindly, perhaps be able to take care of my dog for the day, I will owe you one as the kids say!" Said, Fortunato, as I walked closer to him. "Wowie, you would choose I? Such an honor!" "Splendid! Thou is true about you, a real lifesaver around these parts! Alright, I vow to be back soon! Farewell!" Consequently, Montresor turned around to go into his driveway to enter his Tesla Model S. Soon, I could hear the engine start as Montresor pulled out of his driveway and vanished down the road. Nevertheless, I had nothing better to do but go inside Montresor's house and see what it is like, and of course take care of Montresor's dog. The home dated back real far to the 1800s, I'm surprised they haven't torn it down before. Ordinarily, I walked up the cracked driveway to be approached by the old door. Tarantula has eyes that are small and are usually set in two rows of four and are not able to see much more than light, darkness, and motion. Male tarantulas are bright in color, smaller in size, and are more active than females. Females tend to be plumper and more relax. It is usually impossible to tell male from female in juvenile spiders. In adults you need to look right after a molt. At that time, a male will exhibit a structure called the pal pal bulb on the underside of the front leg–like structure called the pedipalp. He then uses his pedipalps to deposit sperm into female´s reproductive organs on the underside of her abdomen Male tarantulas are smaller than females, making copulation dangerous for them. Reproduction of a tarantula is very complicated. Summer and fall are the usual time for tarantulas to mate. The male tarantula searches for a female late at night and in the evening. As the males travel over a great distance at times, humans who see them sometimes assume they are migrating. Actually this is simply part of the mating process of tarantulas. White is not only an esteemed story of friendship, it also offers an illustration for what White considers to be good writing. Writing is like manufacturing textiles or creating a web, as it is something that takes skill to be woven and crafted. Although Charlotte's Web is introduced to children in order to provide them with a heartfelt story of friendship and a base to strengthen their reading skills, the novel also explicates what it takes to be a good writer. The features that White exemplifies as characteristics of good writing in Charlotte's Web are that it takes time to think about, is well planned out, is able to persuade, is concise, is integrated and smooth, and is not stressed. Great writing, like anything of real value, does not just happen in an instant. Diamonds take time to form, people take time to grow, knowledge takes time to learn, and good writing takes time to think about1. It should incubate in the mind for a little while until it is ready to hatch, just like an egg.2 In Charlotte's Web, one of the main characters Charlotte demonstrates that writing is something that takes time to think about. In response to Wilbur's question, "How are you going to save me?," Charlotte replies, "I don't really know. But I'm working on a plan" (pg. 63). Charlotte here establishes that when you come up with an idea, one might not always know where the idea is going to go, or how it is going to get there. Therefore, she shows ... Looking up at it I realize it's my day off and curse at it for waking me up. After stretching I recall the dream I had. It was the most bizarre thing ever. It felt real, to real for my comfort zone. I was slowly getting ready for work, when I tripped over my feet trying to put my shoes on. My focus lands on this medium brownish black dot in the middle of the wooden floor. Realizing what it is I let the fear begin to consume my whole being. It's as if all those eight eyes are staring at me, waiting to chase me at the right moment when my guard is down. I can see it twitching, focusing all of it's energy to jump on my face. But before it can do that I begin to get up. Hoping that I was going fast enough but slow enough but I wouldn't trigger it to pounce on me. Once I got on my feet I dashed to the kitchen feeling relieved to get away from it. As I'm looking for something that could squish the eight legged creature from existence I feel this tickle on the back of my leg slowly moving upwards. Knowing what it is, out of instinct I quickly reach down and flick it off me. With A rolled up newspaper I turn around and see that the spider is nowhere to be seen. Arthropods are developmentally constrained in that these networks must be conserved and in that the networks for alternative appendage development do not exist. Variations in parts of the developmental pathways responsible for segmentation and appendage patterning explain the differences in body plan across the phylum. Arthropods evolved by substituting the coelom for a protective exoskeleton. It was not entirely lost, but still remains in some parts of the reproductive and excretory systems. The Wolf spider and Nursery web spider (Pisauridae) are closely related and both exhibit similar but different characteristics which highlights the divergences of the species. They both have eight eyes which puts them in the superfamily Lycosoidea, the Pisauridae has similar sized eyes whilst the wolf spider has two big eyes at the front and six smaller ones. Since Wolf Spiders are poor dispersers (Marshall et al, 2000), they are likely to be affected by human activity such as habitat destruction from land clearing, and pesticides used on crops and grasses. The Ramist Logic of Edward Taylor's Upon a Spider Catching a Fly Like other Puritanical writers of his generation, Edward Taylor looked to nature and utilized it as an example of a belief system that he had already deemed factual. The use Ramist logic here may seem irrational to many. The very essence of logic commands that we must first look toward nature and then draw conclusions from it. In his work, "Upon a Spider Catching a Fly", Taylor applies his doctrine in advance by using the interaction between an arachnid and a certain contrasting insect as an example of the Calvinist theory of predestination; the belief that one's fate cannot be influenced by one's works or earthly deeds. • 50. A Short Story Mr. Jones, of the Manor Farm, had locked the hen–houses for the night, but was too drunk to remember to shut the pop–holes. With the ring of light from his lantern dancing from side to side, he lurched across the yard, kicked off his boots at the back door, drew himself a last glass of beer from the barrel in the scullery, and made his way up to bed, where Mrs. Jones was already snoring. As soon as the light in the bedroom went out there was a stirring and a fluttering all through the farm buildings. Word had gone round during the day that old Major, the prize Middle White boar, had had a strange dream on the previous night and wished to communicate it to the other animals. It had been agreed that they should all meet in the big barn as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Boxer was an enormous beast, nearly eighteen hands high, and as strong as any two ordinary horses put together. A white stripe down his nose gave him a somewhat stupid appearance, and in fact he was not of first–rate intelligence, but he was universally respected for his steadiness of character and tremendous powers of work. After the horses came Muriel, the white goat, and Benjamin, the donkey. Benjamin was the oldest animal on the farm, and the worst tempered. He seldom talked, and when he did, it was usually to make some cynical remark––for instance, he would say that God had given him a tail to keep the flies off, but that he would sooner have had no tail and no flies. Alone among the animals on the farm he never laughed. If asked why, he would say that he saw nothing to laugh at. Nevertheless, without openly admitting it, he was devoted to Boxer; the two of them usually spent their Sundays together in the small paddock beyond the orchard, grazing side by side and never speaking. The two horses had just lain down when a brood of ducklings, which had lost their mother, filed into the barn, cheeping feebly and wandering from side to side to find some place where they would not be trodden on. Clover made a sort of wall round them with her great foreleg, and the ducklings nestled down inside it and promptly fell asleep. At the last moment Mollie, the foolish, pretty white mare who drew Mr. Jones's trap, came mincing daintily in, chewing at a lump of sugar. She took a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Emperor Scorpion The Pandinus imperator, also known as the Emperor Scorpion or the Imperial Scorpion, is native to the hot, humid forests and savannas of Nigeria, Togo, Sierra Leone, Ghana, and the Congo Region. The Emperor Scorpion is the largest, but not the longest of all the scorpions8. They are also not as vicious as they look, they would rather flee than fight. However, if they are cornered they will turn aggressive and go to defensive position. Their venom is categorized as mild and is only as harmful as a bee sting, unless you are allergic. Their large pedipalps (pinchers) are strong enough to draw blood from a human. In this paper the topic that will be discussed is how human action can improve the terrestrial environment that is home to the Emperor Scorpion. Humans need to stop keeping them as pets, slow down deforestation, and plant more tress. The Emperor Scorpion belongs to the phylum Arthropoda, the name Arthropoda means jointed feet. An arthropod is an organism that has a hard exoskeleton made out of a hard substance called chitin. Its body is segmented and each part of its body has its own pair of legs, which are jointed, and it is also an invertebrate10. An invertebrate is an organism that lacks a vertebral column which is also called a backbone11. Every phylum of invertebrates has its own special characteristics, for example cnidarians, of the phylum Cnidaria, have special stinging organs called nematocysts. I have had many experiences with almost dying. I have had many experiences where my life had flashed before my eyes. April 4th, 2014, I almost died 27 times. On that date, I looked death right in the face, and laughed at it. In the summer, I was supposed to go to a girls camp for my church. There were a few requirements we had to pass off before going. One of them was a 3 mile hike and a camping trip. We decided to hit 2 birds with 1 stone. So we set a date to go camping with the girls who were going to camp. There were about 16 girls who decided they would go. We set off on our 1 night trip on April 4th, 2014. It started off normal. A regular trail through the woods. The path started to get thinner and thinner as we walked on it. We then got to a part where we had to go over a log that was partly hanging over a chasm. I peered over the edge to see thousands of sharp rocks and a large pool of rushing water. After 3 girls had gone over the log safely, it was my turn. I slowly put my right leg over the enormous log. I had made sure to steady myself before putting my left leg over. After I had done so, I threw my left leg over and sat on the log. Then I put my right foot on the ground. I thought I was safe, but my left foot 's, shoelace got caught on the rugged wood. I pulled with force, but that was a bad idea. I got it undone, but that force threw me off balance ... Arachnologist[3] [4] Chris Buddle wrote a good article on this question; as you might expect, it's not literally true. Spiders don't live in the water,[5] so you can get away from them by swimming, and there aren't as many spiders in buildings as in fields and forests. But if you're anywhere near the outdoors, even in the Arctic tundra, there are probably spiders within a few feet of you. Regardless of whether the factoid is precisely true or not, there are an awful lot of spiders out there. Exactly how many is hard to say, but we can do some rough estimation. A 2009 study actually measured the total mass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Spider distributions are discrete, not continuous,[9] and some areas have more spiders than others. What if there happen to be a lot of spiders near you? Although three spider feet is only 9 inches. In 2009, the Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant found themselves dealing with what they called an "extreme spider situation." An estimated 80 million orb–weaving spiders had colonized the plant, covering every surface with heavy sheets of web.[10] The whole thing is detailed in a fascinating and horrifying article published by the Entomological Society of America.[12] What was the total force of gravity from all those spiders? First we need their mass; according to a paper titled Sexual Cannibalism in Orb–Weaving Spiders: An Economic Model, it's about 20 grams for males and several times that for females.[11] So even if you were standing next to the Black River Wastewater Treatment Plant in 2009, the pull of all the spiders inside would still be only 1/50,000,000th that of the Sun. Gunshots symbolize murder, gangs, and brutality. In the backwoods of Tennessee however these gunshots are normal. With hunting being a favorite sport of many, it is not uncommon to hear shots ringing throughout the hills. Surrounded by woods, the threat of wild animals wandering onto your property is much greater than that of living in the city. To get a grasp of how it is growing up in Tennessee compared to the rest of the country, I interviewed my roommate Will Anderson, a Tennessee native. People often fail to think about how life is like in different parts of our country. As a society, we get so consumed in our own way of life that it is often difficult to envision how life would be like in other regions. I never really thought about the types of lives that other people grew up with until I was searching for colleges. Too often do we rely on certain stereotypes about different parts of the country and not truly on how the people are and how they actually live. When searching for a roommate, I failed to give much thought about where my potential roommate was from and how it may affect how they act. When my roommate Will contacted me and said he was from Tennessee, I thought it seemed pretty interesting. Little did I know that the way he grew up was vastly different than the way I grew up. What was the cause of the commotion you may ask, it was feeding time, the day where all the farm animals got fed corn and vegetables and occasionally decent people food such as pudding and Peter the pig's favorite bread. Peter was a pig, he was a very bright pig too, all the farm animals thought pigs were greedy, foul smelling and easily manipulated, but of course, it was not true. Even though pigs are not as horrendous as the farm animals suspect, the farm animals still think pigs are inferior, for the fact that long ago pigs were the most unfavorable farm animal they did horrendous things, for example, stealing, going to the bathroom on the floor, not in buckets and being inconsiderate to the other animals needs and feelings. Due to their misjudgment of pigs thinking they have not changed, pigs are oppressed by the other farm animals due to the farm animals' false sense of superiority. Peter the pig was devouring his food and then all of a sudden, he needed to go to the bathroom. When Peter came back he discovered that someone or something had stolen a fragment of his meal and the only clue was white feathers. "Outrageous!" hollered Peter, "Who would do such a thing?" and at that moment Drumstick who was a chicken jumped out of a tree "I can't help to overhear, but it seems that you Peter, need a guard for your food again I will be happy to do it for a ... I have strong evidence that proves he says things to Doodle that may discourage him, he treats Doodle with cruelty, and he can be selfish towards Doodle. He is guilty and should be charged with a felony. I would like to start by saying that Doodle's brother could say some hurtful things to Doodle that may discourage him. For example, "One day I took Doodle up to the barn loft, and showed him his casket, telling him how we all believed he would die." Therefore, charges can and will be pressed. Along with all of this, brother "dragged Doodle across the burning field."(3) We have a video taken by someone else in the field that day. It clearly shows brother dragging Doodle by the arms. It is on record that brother "heard Doodle cry out, "brother, brother don't leave me" but, I ran as fast as I could leaving him far behind with a wall of rain dividing us."(6) It is noted that this was around the time Doodle was killed, and if he had not been left there he would be alive right now. • 68. Animals Needs : The Importance Of Animals And Animals Without plants and animals, we would not be able to survive. Oceans and rivers have provided us fishes to eat. We domesticated some wild animals to become out livestocks that provides us milk, meat, and clothing. Wild canines became our hunting partners and bodyguards. Our forests are pollinated by bats and birds, squirrels and bees. From these forests we were able to build houses for shelter and fires to keep us warm. We have also used the woods to build ships to take us across oceans, and books to write down our achievements. Wild animals have their own value, and own reason for existing. Even after what these animals have given us, they are at risk of vanishing because of us. They have helped us immensely but we are starting to take advantage of this. These animals have thoughts and emotions that we try to ignore. Animals deserve to be treated with respect and care because they are caring and has given a lot to the people around them and this world. Animals are not as developed and advanced as humans. They are able to think just like us but in a different approach. It is not as complicated as humans would think but there are some similarities. They can come up with different strategies and think in patterns. They are not able to use words to think so another way to portray their thinking is by seeing pictures. Daddy Long Legs For many years people have said that Daddy Long Legs are the most poisonous spiders in the world but their fangs are not long enough to puncture a human's skin. I find them both equally creepy, but have decided to find out the true differences between these hair–raising, eight legged creatures. Spiders and Daddy long legs are both arthropods and belong to the arachnid animal class. Although they may look a lot alike, Daddy Long Legs are not spiders and in fact have several differences from the spider. The first difference that can help with identification between these two arachnids are their body shape. Spiders have two noticeable body segments; they are the rounded head section and the abdomen.
