A Brief Note On Creators And Victims Of Children
There is a distinction between Creators and Victims. Creators are ambitious and let nothing stop
them. Victims, on the other hand, let small barriers make big impacts on their lives and from there
they give up. Although my family and I all grew up with similar resources, we all turned out
different. My cousins, sister, and I all had parents that were not involved in our lives because our
parents were, and still are, substance abusers. My sister and some of my cousins let their parents'
absence impact their future. In contrast, I decided I was going to make my own fate; I was not going
to let their absence affect me. As a result, I am a Creator. In contrast, my sister and cousins are
Victims, and it is clear to see how the roles play out. Victims and Creators handle individual
responsibility different, in areas such as negative emotions, financial matters, and career/future
plans.
Victims do not like to take individual responsibility. Likewise, they do not process negative
emotions well either. Instead they find someone or something to blame for their life problems. For
example, my cousin Jacob, the issue with him is he does not take responsibility for anything. Also,
he lets his negative emotions out on other people. When Jacob lost his first job, he immediately
blamed my grandmother. Claiming it was my grandmother 's fault for not letting him use her car
enough. In that situation, Jacob is making excuses, he is denying his responsibilities. Jacob could
have used the bus

Analysis Of The Bible : The Creator Of God
God is the Creator of nature and the visible world seen around us. The Bible opens with the words
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1). Psalm 95:3–6 says, "For the
Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In His hand are the deep places of the earth:
the strength of the hills is His also. The sea is His, and He made it: and His hands formed the dry
land."
Creation reflects the genius of the Creator's hand. How can one explain how a sparrow knows it is a
sparrow and stays with its kind, or how a baby knows to look into the eyes of its mother when no
one has taught it to do so? How was a wasp made so that its wings flap at 100 times every second,
or the housefly at 190 per second, or the mosquito at an amazing 500 times every second?
This passage in Psalm 104 beautifully portrays the creativity of our Maker:
"Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, You are very great! You are clothed with splendor and
majesty, . . . He sends forth springs in the valleys; they flow between the mountains . . . The earth is
satisfied with the fruit of His works. He causes the grass to grow for the cattle and vegetation for the
labor of man, so that he may bring forth food from the earth, . . . He made the moon for the seasons
[and] the sun knows the place of its setting. You appoint darkness and it becomes night. . . . O Lord,
how many are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of Your
possessions."

God Is Divine Love The Creator Of The Universe And Of All...
God is divine love the creator of the universe and of all things. But how many of us really
understand God at all? I would venture to say very few of us, if any at all.
The First Step Toward Truth Is To Accept That You May Not Know It.So, how do we go about
learning to love a God that we don't even understand? What is the truth about God!
The first step in finding the truth is in accepting the fact that we might not know it.
We will be discussing many things about God and religion with you and hopefully together we can
gain a better understanding of our creator.
Who Is God?
God is everlasting love, joy and all wise that goes beyond all human understanding. Many people
believe in a God and different religions see him in different forms. We see him in the form that we
choose to see him in. Devotees of God will see him in the form Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, even an old
man in the sky ext. However, the vision we see him as is just that a vision of what we believe he
looks like. However, this is not the true nature of God.
There have been many great teachers of God through the ages that are capable of teaching us about
God, but to find God's true nature and the truly unique essence of him can only be found in deep
meditation.
Does God Have A Plan For Us?
I never understood why people would think that God would have a plan for us when he gave us free
will to decide for ourselves, and the intelligence to think and plan our own further out. So why
would he then, threaten us

Ex Machina And Frankenstein
Throughout history, people have made works of art both praising and criticizing the development of
science and technology. The novel by Mary Shelley, Frankenstein, shows an older form of this type
of work, while the film, Ex Machina, shows the modern version of this. In both of the stories a new
being is created, and while in the film the consequences of creating life are somewhat more thought
out, both result in the deaths of the creators and others. This paper is going to analyze how different
aspects of these two pieces compare including: their characters, their stories, and the themes or
morals of the works. Both Frankenstein and Ex Machina involve realizing the complexities of life.
They highlight the strengths and weaknesses of man, and warn of the advancements of the sciences.
While neither are outright saying that science and advancement is a bad thing, they warn of the
consequences of new technologies as well as the lack of understanding and planning. In the end,
both of these stories warn and teach the reader or viewer about the shortcomings of mankind. While
there are a few differences, the characters and the messages conveyed by them in the works, Ex
Machina and Frankenstein, are generally very similar. In both of these works, the reader or viewer's
opinion of the different characters and their actions changes as they are developed. It is ambiguous
who the protagonist is supposed to be in both stories, and initial opinions on who really is on the
"right side"

God Is The Creator And Savior Of All
We, as one body of Christ, were made in the image of God. God is the creator and savior of all. He
is very loving and caring to all his creations. I believe that we, the people, were created due to his
endless and overwhelming love. Because of that, we were called to be God's disciple and to be more
like him in every way. And so, this leads to being a Christ–like Character. What does it mean? What
does it mean to be a person like Christ? Someone who exemplifies Christ–like character means that
people can look at that person and feel God's presence in him or her. A Christ–like character means
to be like God himself. 1 Corinthians 1:1 states "Paul, called by the will of God to be an apostle of
Christ Jesus, and our brother Sosthenes." My dad, who is currently a Pastor at a Korean Presbyterian
church, is an example of this. He is a man of God and a disciple who needs to be shared about. My
dad, Kyoung Su Mun, is a devoted man. He is passionate towards what he does and is committed to
serving God throughout his entire life. Kyoung is called to serve and preach to others about God's
word and the Gospel. I believe that my dad exemplifies Christ–like character because not only does
he try to be more like God, he shows God's presence to others. He is a very loving and caring man.
He helps people go into the right path, which is the path to Jesus Christ. There are many wonderful
traits I can talk about to describe my dad, but one of the most important of them is respect. In 1

Questions On An Argument On The Existence Of A Prime...
Part 1: Clarifying an Argument
State the argument you find in Passage 1 in explicit premise–and–conclusion form.
PASSAGE 1:
(P1) Every event must have a cause.
(P2) An infinite series of events is inconceivable.
(P3) There must be a first cause.
(C1) The first cause must have at least been the originator of the universe.
(C2) The first cause is God.
PASSAGE 2: Nagel's Counterargument
(P1) Positing the existence of a first cause does not explain away the infinite regression of events.
(P2) If God is self–caused, then there are no limits to what can be self–caused.
(P3) If everything must have a cause, so must God.
(C1) The existence of the world and the vast matrix of events that occur every day do not necessitate
the existence of a prime mover, or creator (or God). Part 2: Clarifying an Objection to an Argument
State in your own words and as concisely as possible what you take Nagel 's objection in Passage 2
to mean. Your task is not only to explain Nagel 's words but also to show how they bear on the
argument in Passage 1. What is it, exactly, about the argument that Nagel is objecting to, which
premise or inference does he reject?
I believe Nagel is saying that if every event must have a cause, the infinite chain of events
presumably necessitated by this logic in fact follows, assuming one's acceptance of the mathematical
concept of infinity. Ergo, there does not have to be a God or even a first cause, as the cosmological

God Is All Good, And The Creator Of All Things We Create It?
In the religious world, Christians believe that the God they serve is a good God. If the God that
Christians serve is such a good God, All knowing and all powerful, and if the God Christians serve
only wants the best for human kind then why is there evil? How do parents lose their life leaving
their young children alone? Why do babies and children die of leukemia? How is there so much
hate, violence, and evil in the World? Evil is defined as wickedness, and depravity, especially when
regarded as a supernatural force. Good, however, is defined as having the qualities required for a
particular role or a desired approval of righteousness. If God is all Good, and the creator of all things
why does evil exist?

"God gave us free will, and we may choose to exercise it in ways that end up hurting other people."
This statement made by Francis Collins, puts the ball back in the court of the people. Free will has
always been a big part of the question of regarding evil. Regardless of your religion or lack thereof.
It is a common understanding that people have the freedom to do whatever they want. A great
example of this is the story of Adam and Eve. Christians believe this evil first entered the earth. In
this story Adam was given instructions not to eat the fruit for a certain tree, however after talking
with a serpent who was also in the garden Eve was convinced that she could eat from the tree. She
and Adam excised free will and both suffered the consequences. (Genesis 2:16–25) Mankind have
the right to do and say what they feel. There are consequences to every action however god cannot
be them blame for your chosen actions. In the Christian bible there is a story where Jesus and his
disciples come upon a blind man, who had been blind since birth. The disciples ask Jesus who
sinned this man or his parents? The questions in depth was really, what evil action caused this
consequence? What caused is this man to suffer from lack of sight (Bible). The disciples assumed
something wrong had been done. However in John chapter nine verse three Jesus answered,
"Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so the works of God might display in
him. It is

Frankenstein Literary Analysis : The Creator And His Creation

Frankenstein Literary Analysis:
The Creator and his Creation "I ought to be thy Adam; but I am rather the fallen angel" (Shelley 87).
In the popular novel Frankenstein, author Mary Shelley examines difficult questions regarding the
creation of life and the shortcomings of mankind. The narrative is centered around a young scientist
by the name of Victor Frankenstein, whose unrelenting pursuit of knowledge leads him into the most
dangerous experiment of his life, the results of which would haunt him for years afterwards. There is
no doubt that this novel seemingly correlates with the creation account of Adam in the book of
Genesis, yet there are key similarities and differences which set them apart from one another. In
Frankenstein, the author shifts from keen anticipation to unmistakable self–loathing thorough
various allusions including the original creation of man, the desire for a mate, and the introduction
of death to the world; proving that no mortals should attempt to take on the role of God because they
are imperfect beings and will ultimately fail. The first instance of man's flaws in the novel is his
inability to predict how or when certain events will occur. In the beginning, Victor and God had
similar expectations as to how their creations would behave. Both believed that they would follow a
certain moral code and obey a specific set of commands. Yet, the monster and Adam both came to
the decision that they knew

Role of Identity in Mary Shelleys Frankenstein Essays
In past and present, society has always put an emphasis on external appearance as opposed to inner
personality. As a result, social classes are formed, such as upper and lower, wherein members of
each class must uphold the norms defined by the prestige of the class. Upper classes are deemed to
be perfect, as they contain the wealthy and the beautiful. This class distinction is heightened in
Gothic literature where emotions and the persona of the characters are externalized. Emotions are
literalized as characters, supernatural phenomena, and the protagonist and antagonist roles.
Victor Frankenstein's upbringing in a perfect society ultimately led to the destruction of his life
which coincided with the lives of those emotionally close to ... Show more content on

He experienced the burden of loneliness by living in a superficial society and did not have the
character to cope with it. For Victor, parenting had become an issue of possession, ownership and
self–exaggeration.
The issue of parenting soon became an obsession with power. This need of power led Victor to
create what he believed would be a beautiful human being. But he failed to see that combining the
most beautiful human features does not necessarily create a beautiful human being. He was inspired
by scientists who ...acquired new and almost limitless powers... (Shelley, Frankenstein, P. 47). Victor
sought this unlimited power to the extent of taking the role of God. He not only penetrated nature,
but also he assumed power of reproduction in a maniacal desire to harness these modes of
reproduction in order to become acknowledged, respected, and obeyed as a father. While bringing
his creation into the world he was himself alienated from society, and isolated himself from the
community. Isolation and parental neglect cause viciousness within man. Because of his upbringing,
Victor had no sense of empathy, and therefore could not realize the potential harm he was creating
towards himself and his creation. The sole purpose of his project was an attempt to gain power, but
instead of power Victor realized that a morally irresponsible

God Is Not The Creator Of Evil
Evil exists in the world because of man's poor choices not because God created it that way. God
made man in His image and gave man the ability to choose between good and evil. He did not want
to force us to love Him however man chose to disobey God and as a result evil entered the world.
Genesis 1:27 KJV "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male
and female created he them."
"The phrase "The problem of evil" is a label of such problems involving both God and evil."(Thick
book page 413) Evil exists because of a choice man made to knowingly disobey God in the Garden
of Eden. God is not the creator of evil as evil was never in His original design for the world. All that
God created was very good. Genesis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes, wildfires, sicknesses, and diseases are all
examples of natural evil in the world. Romans 8:22 KJV "For we know that the whole creation
groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now"
There are several theodicies presented in the textbook all of which attempt to explain why bad
things happen if there is a loving God. Gottfried Leibniz argues that God is obligated to create the
best possible world. He states "The metaphysically richest world must contain the greatest number
and variety of beings" (page 1185 thick book) Leibniz believed for the world to be the best it had to
have both good and evil existing in it. According to Leibniz a world without diversity would not be
the best possible world. The fact that there is good and evil proves that God made the best possible
world, that He is just, omnipotent, and omnibenevolent. Leibniz is correct in his belief that god is
just, omnipotent, and omnibenevolent however God as part of His nature, because He is holy, cannot
be the author of evil. Also God was nor is not obligated to create or do anything against His will.
Augustinian tradition first states that God did not have to create any world and that His existence
alone is the ultimate in excellence. Second

Compare And Contrast Hyde And Frankenstein
Dantès is also shown to be similar to Frankenstein and Jekyll, in that the three are unable to escape
from their creations. Dantès and Jekyll are trapped more so than Frankenstein, as they are the same
person as their creations, whereas Frankenstein is trapped by being unable to bring himself to create
a female creature due to the effect it may have on society. Frankenstein's identity is called into
question here, as he becomes almost defined, in the Creature's eyes, as being unable to keep his
word. The Creature's words show a parallel between himself and Hyde and Frankenstein and Jekyll:
"You are my creator, but I am your master – obey!"
The verb "obey" causes the creator's identities to be reduced to that of slaves: Frankenstein is forced

When Dantès is imprisoned, he loses his name, Hyde is known solely by his appearance, and the
Creature is never given a name. This contrasts with the socially accepted Monte Cristo, Henry Jekyll
and Victor Frankenstein. Their names allow them to be accepted by, not forgotten about, shunned, or
left incapable of joining, society. Unlike Hyde and Dantès, the Creature is never named. He is
constantly referred to as a "creature" and a "miserable fiend." This mainly comes through
Frankenstein's point of view, which suggests that the Creature's monstrousness stems from
Frankenstein's perceptions of him and the way he is originally presented to the reader. Had the novel
been written from his point of view, it can be suggested that the Creature would not be viewed as
such a monster by society, and readers would have more sympathy for him. The absence causes him
to be dehumanised in a similar way to Dantès, who is renamed "Number 34." Hyde, however, is
named, allowing Jekyll's view of his alter–ego being "natural and human" to be more accepted by
society. Hyde's naturalness can said to be due to his evilness as he represents the 'original sin' found
inside all of us. Dantès and the Creature are shunned by society when they are without a name
because they are distanced from society. Whilst Dantès' distance is literal as he has been taken away
from Marseille, the Creature's distance remains figurative – he follows Frankenstein and is in fact
very close to society. His distance stems from his hideousness and the absence of a name to
introduce himself by. He is left to forge his own identity which comes as an incredibly hard task.
Modern readers have felt sympathy for the Creature in his struggle to be accepted: Shelley's use of
his point of view in the novel aids this, however at the time of writing, readers generally viewed the
Creature as a

The Bible : God Is The Creator Of Life
God's Word, the Bible, is the ultimate source of our foundation. It is the starting point of
understanding. God is the Creator of life and his Word provides sound doctrine and validates that
taking a life from the womb of a mother is an abomination to the Creator himself. "Therefore, if a
baby is born mentally or physically handicapped, his value is seen as greatly diminished and he can
be extinguished through abortion or infanticide. This pagan, or secular view connects decisions
about whether a person should live or die to their likely 'quality of life.' But this view focuses
completely on the physical part of life and ignores the spiritual. We were not created to have a good
time and pursue our selfish interests, although God allows us to if we choose. We were created to
honor God." Mark A. Beliles & Douglas S. Anderson, Contending for the Constitution p.110
(Providence Foundation, 2005). The Bible clearly states that we are to "choose life" (Deuteronomy
30:19). Anyone who chooses otherwise is choosing death. "Not only does the Bible provide us with
the basis for man's value in a general sense since we have a divine source, it also gives us the basis
for believing that each individual is important. 1 Corinthians 12:14–18 demonstrates that each
person has a unique purpose and that God gives us our purpose. Recognizing that man has value as
an individual is one of the reasons why individual liberties were so important to the authors of the

Portrayal Of Abortion In Frankenstein
Damaged
"I, the miserable and the abandoned, am an abortion, to be spurned at, and kicked, and trampled on."
(165) In the statement made by Frankenstein's Creature to Walter, Mary Shelley utilizes emotionally
charged diction and biblical allusions in order to demonstrate the motif of abortion. The strong
language, that the Creature uses regarding itself, defines the feelings of great loss and depression,
such emotions that it's creator, Victor Frankenstein, felt throughout the novel. The quotation shows
that the creator hates the Creature's construction and wishes it was destroyed. The conversation with
Walter allows the Creature to lament his given life and neglection thereby providing a statement of
humanness, what the qualifications are to be human, and how one deserves the things a human does.
There is inherently self–hatred and loneliness that the Creature feels, being the only one of it's kind
and abandoned to its own devices. The following underlines the plot with Shelley's own experiences
with miscarriage, a form of abortion. As these ideologies combine to form the role of a creator and
creation, Shelley's characterization of the Creature, being rejected and abused, portrays the internal
and external influences the Creature experiences with it's being. Within the first word of the
Creature's dialogue there is no mistaking, who it is and how it presents its existence. It begins it's
sentence with "I", using the word as an impactful descriptor of prefacing what

Comparison Of Monster In Frankenstein
In the Novel Frankenstein by Mary shelly, the novel jumps between the two narrative perspectives
of "monster" and creator. By jumping from two different perspectives throughout the novel we are
able to understand the thoughts and feelings of each character in a new way. Reading through
different perspectives, allows the story to have greater depth and meaning. Each perspective brings a
new dimension to the novel that makes for a more complex story. Furthermore, the perspectives
allow for the two characters to be compared and contrasted throughout the entirety of the novel.
When reading from Victor's point of view, we can see how he feels about the monster. "How can I
describe my emotions at this catastrophe, or how delineate the wretch whom with such infinite pains
and care I had endeavoured to form? His limbs were in proportion, and I had selected his features as
beautiful. Beautiful! Great God! His yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries
beneath; his hair was of a lustrous black, and flowing; his teeth of a pearly whiteness; but these
luxuriances only formed a more horrid contrast with his watery eyes, that seemed almost of the
same colour as the dun–white sockets in which they were set, his shrivelled complexion and straight
black lips." (Chapter 5) Being that he created something hideous and evil, when in reality he was
only trying to invent something great for mankind. While reading through the monster's point of
view we can understand a deep

The Kalam Argument That God Is The Creator Of The Universe
The Kalam argument is the best argument to explain that God is the Creator of the universe. Some
of the major expositors of this argument are Lane Craig, JP Moreland, Groothuis and many others.
This cosmological argument is divided in three sections, the first premise states"Whatever begins
has a cause" it denies the idea that nothing came out of nothing. In fact, nothing lacks all casual
power, therefore material things should have a cause. Groothuis in his book shares that he does not
conceive the idea that a musician appears in from of him from nowhere. Therefore all beginnings
have to have a cause. The universe is not eternal because it has a beginning. The second premise
claims, "The universe began to exist" J.P. Moreland gives a philosophical

God Is The Creator Of All People, And The Israelites
The modern Christian religion tells each of its followers that God loves us all, sinners and innocents
alike, if only we would accept God into our hearts. But how true is that statement? While God is the
creator of all people, and the Israelites are supposed to be his chosen people, God does not act as
such in the Bible. Rather than being interested in humanity in general, or even the Israelites
specifically, God is primarily interested in certain individuals. These works suggest that even God
has favorites. From Abraham to Moses to David, and all those heroes of the Bible, God preserves
the peoples from which he derives these favored individuals. In these passages, the presence of a

As soon as Adam and Eve disobey God, he bans them from the garden of Eden. God drives out
"man and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned
every way to guard the way to the tree of life" and to the entrance to the garden of Eden (Genesis
3:24). These people may have been cared for by God, but by disobeying him, they lose God's favor,
showing that it was only favor that Adam and Eve had to begin with. Even the Israelites, God's
chosen people, are only briefly in God's favor, and that is not as a result of any inherent interest in
this group of people, but rather because the majority of God's favorite individuals arise from this
group. The people of Israel were overcome by the Egyptians and the Egyptians thus "set taskmasters
over them to afflict them with heavy burdens" (Exodus 1:11). The Israelites "groaned because of
their slavery and cried out for help" and only then "God remembered his covenant with Abraham,
with Isaac, and with Jacob" (Exodus 2:23; Exodus 2:24). God had forgotten about the people he
promised to provide prosperity for in the future. In addition, God does not remember the covenant as
being with the Israelite peoples, but with his favorites of the previous generations, i.e. Abraham,
Isaac, and Jacob. Furthermore, rather than choosing to then save all of the Israelites with the power

Frankenstein Compare And Contrast Essay
Mary W. Shelley's brilliant gothic story, Frankenstein, is one that emits the prevalent theme of light
versus dark, in which possesses obvious characteristics of a novel written during the romantic era.
The novel tells the account of the overambitious Victor Frankenstein, who created a monster in
hopes that he'd be known for crafting something human from the body parts of corpses with
physical and mental advantages in society, basically playing the part of God on Earth, but through
the auspices of science. Instead of creating a "normal" human, his creation ended up being a

There is a sense in which every christian for every christian that believe that he live in a universe
that is a creation and that source of creation is the god who is revealed in the bible as marker of
heaven and earth the true whether the christian is a young–earth creationist an old earth creationist
an intelligent design creationist or an evolutionary creationist while these various creationist may
strongly disagree among themselves about the how of creation and subscribe to different portrait or
models of creation they do agree on certain essential beliefs or doctrine about creation beliefs that
they find anchored in revelations of holy scripture so to look at creation from the perspective of
christian faith we being with the bible First, we need to understand what the word means.
"Creation," as I shall use the word in these essays, refers both to the process and product of creation:
we apply it both to the creation of the universe and to the universe as a creation. And I must make an
important clarification from the start. Too often, "creation" as process is popularly understood, and
thus misunderstood, to refer simply to the origination of the universe. Many people, it appears, think
of creation as something that happened in the past. To them "In the beginning God created the
heavens and the earth (Gen. 1:1) means God did this way back then Christians have been arguing
rather vociferously in recent years over how far back then is, as many believers accept the

Analysis Of The Native American Folktales In The Snake...
Today we often read a book or Youtube a video to learn something new or to entertain ourselves but
during the fifteenth century, technology did not exist and paper was considered a luxury. The Native
Americans used to entertain themselves by passing around stories orally, called Indian folktales. The
Native American folktales have different themes that portray different life lessons. The life lessons
that will be covered in this essay will be having self discipline, knowing that every good thing
comes to an end, and with every mistake there is a consequence. In The Snake Brothers, the main
theme is not listening to directions. one of the life lessons to be learned is to listen to directions. The
characters were four brothers all of whom were hunting for game in order to survive. They happen
to come across a buffalo who promised them it's meat but with the offer came a direction. The older
brothers disregarded the directions and only took the meat while the youngest brother took on the
buffalo's directions. This is proven in the story by, "The youngest brother went to the top of the hill
and spread out the skin, skull, hooves, and tail – just as the voice had told them." The older brothers
suffered a consequence for not listening to the buffalo's directions, which happened to be them
turning into snakes and not being able to return to their village. The youngest brother however,
found much success after listening to the buffalo's directions. He was able to bring back the

Cultural Values In Prometheus And Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
The creation myths/stories from around the world such as the stories of Genesis from Christianity,
Prometheus from Greek myth made in the attempt to explain their unknown origin and Mary
Shelley's story of Frankenstein express cultural values from the society they originate, some of
which show similarities. In addition to these cultural values these stories set up a relationship
between the creator and the creation, and with it their views and obligations to one another.
Furthermore, these myths establish characteristics on the nature of man, their creator and humanities
condition.
Cultural values are revealed in these stories. The greek myth of Prometheus shows that ancient
greek culture blamed women for the evils of the world, as a result from the gods. This cultural
concept is demonstrated because in the story Prometheus, Pandora is sent down from Zeus as a
proxy punishment; she was designed to inevitably open a box to release all that would release all
that is evil into the world but was made so Zeus could punish humanity indirectly. This happens
eventually, in the tale it says "pandora's curiosity about the forbidden jar overwhelmed her; she

Similarities and Differences of Paradise Lost and...
Between the two novels, Paradise Lost and Frankenstein, there are many striking similarities. What
makes these two books so wonderful to read is the author 's ability to write about the ultimate
struggle; the struggle between God and Satan, or Good and Evil. The characters in Paradise Lost and
in Frankenstein seem to be very similar to one another. God and Victor Frankenstein have many
similarities. One of their similarities is that they are both creators of new life. The monster, Victor 's
creation, also shows remarkable similarities, but not with God. The monster shows similarities with
Satan and Adam. At first these characters seem very plain and tasteless, but as the stories go on and
the characters become deeper beings, the interest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just as Satan and Adam both fall from God 's grace, the monster appears to fall from the grace of his
God and his creator as well, Victor. Because the stories are so similar, it 's almost as if the monster is
living the epic poem Paradise Lost!
In both novels the reader is able to feel sorrow for the evil beings. The reader almost feels
compassion for the beings suffering. Is this because we, as people, better relate to sin? It seems that
the reader wants to side with evil because even when our key examples, Adam and Eve, seem
faultless, they can 't refuse to into a life of sin. Through this, the reader feels sympathy for someone
or something that is an outcast. Outcasts of these two stories are Adam and Eve to God, Satan to
God, and the monster to Victor. We, as readers, also begin to see the unfairness of our society today.
While most of Frankenstein resembles God and Satan or Gad and Adam, Eve is not forgotten. Eve is
just less noticeable. Mary Shelly did this on purpose. All of Mary Shelly 's "good verses bad"
relationships seem superficially masculinized. By making Frankenstein more masculine, Mary
Shelly is pulling away from Milton 's idea of Eve and his female illustration that the fall was due to
a woman.
Whenever Paradise Lost is mentioned in Mary Shelly 's novel, Frankenstein, Eve is always left out.
Eve is never mentioned. The absence of the "Eve" character is seen when the monster asks Victor
for a female companion. The monster

The lyric under investigation is taken from an arrangement of works by William Blake–Songs of

this way, the picture of the kid's sun–consumed confront is in reality an indication of his want to be

may see that the parents aren't really the ones in charge–their prima donna daughter is. The reversed

The monster reveals that he knows the duty that a creator has towards his creation, and that
Frankenstein has not fulfilled any duty towards his creature. He continues to rebuke his creator and
reminds the latter of their duties to one another. He proposes, "I am thy creature, and I will be even
mild a docile to my natural lord and king, if thou wilt perform thy part, the which thou owest
me...Remember, that I am thy creature; I ought to be thy Adam, but I am rather the fallen angel,
whom thou drivest from joy for no misdeed," (Shelley, p. 69). He offers a chance to fix their
relationship, but he also reprimands Frankenstein for denying him at first. Again, the monster refers
back to the book he found to compare to and argue that Victor has a duty to provide for him. He
recalls the past few years of his life that he lived alone and criticizes,
No Eve soothed my sorrows nor shared my thoughts; I was alone. I remembered Adam's
supplication to his
Creator. But where was mine? He had abandoned me, and in the bitterness of my heart I cursed
him...I am an unfortunate and deserted creature; I look around, and I have no relation or friend upon
earth...I am an outcast in the world forever." (Shelley, p. 94, 95)

Analysis Of Mary Shelley 's Frankenstein Essay
Driven by an uncontrollable longing to create life, Frankenstein isolates himself from the people in
his life who matter the most. Victor acknowledges the evil in his deeds and the unnatural nature of
his desires, but succumbs to what he views as his destiny. In this, he abandons his conscience and
his human ability to reason. He seeks not human companionship, but thrives in his solitude where
none can remind him of his irresponsibility and selfishness. This inability to reason exposes his
selfish and cruel nature while the monster who seeks for a taste of acknowledgment is able to
present a much more reasonable understandings. In Mary Shelley 's Frankenstein, in the content of
pages 102–103, both the creator and creation have an animated discussion and argument where
Victor 's inability to reason is displayed. Victor Frankenstein 's sole focus is on himself and it blinds
him to the ability to be reasonable or take responsibility for his creation as well as exhibits how the
Creature at times displays more maturity, rationality, or human qualities than his creator.
Essentially, the Creature is given no opportunity to become a functioning unit of society because he
is given no insight into surviving as a human, aside from what he is able to gather through
observation. This lack of insight is contributed to the way Victor disregards his own creation;
leaving him to defend himself in a curious world who is at times seemingly ignorant of his
existence. In the course of the

However, the creature was built and Victor describes it to be as "I had selected his features as
beautiful. Beautiful! Great God!". (Shelley #58). Nevertheless, when Victor went away to the valley
and feeling some form of isolation the creature was left to be on its own and thus followed Victor.
Victor wanted to have a pleasant escape and remove all his grief. Suddenly Victor saw a figure of a
man. "He approached; his countenance bespoke bitter anguish, combined with disdain and
malignity, while its unearthly ugliness rendered it almost too horrible for human eyes". (Shelley

The created mentions that he expects this behavior of Victor. The creature then exclaimed "Yet you,
my creator, detest and spurn me, thy creature and "Do your duty towards me and I will do mine

Biblical Worldview Essay
Biblical Worldview This paper will delve into a greater understanding of the following questions.
What is the meaning of Worldview? What is meant by each of the four primary aspects of the
Biblical worldview: creation, the fall, redemption and restoration? How does free enterprise comport
with or reject creation, the fall, redemption, and restoration? How does socialism comport with or
reject creation, the fall, redemption, and restoration? How does progressivism support or reject
Biblical Worldview? This paper will also look at the following four topics: being made in the image
of God, equality, justice, property. Each will be looked at in light of Biblical worldview, free
enterprise, socialism, ethics in the marketplace, and the author of this paper. As you can see there is
a lot to cover. So let us move along to the first question. What actually does worldview mean?
Worldview – In General "The meaning of the term worldview seems self–evident: an intellectual
perspective on the world or universe. Indeed, the 1989 edition of the Oxford English Dictionary
defines world–view as a "... contemplation of the world, [a] view of life ..." (Funk, 2001). The word
contemplation can also mean inspection or observation. Many things go into a person's worldview
and everyone's worldview will be slightly different. An individual worldview is comprised of the
total of that individual (e.g. their history, religion, priorities, etc.). "Whether or not we realize it, we
all have worldviews!

Biblical Teaching On The Creation Of Man And The Image Of God
Introduction This paper will attempt to demonstrate the following assertions: 1) Mankind is created
in the Image of God, 2) Every human being is created with (and maintains throughout their life) the
dignity, value, and worth that comes from being an image–bearer of the Creator God of the
Universe, and 3) God, as the Creator, has sovereign rule over all matters of life and death. These
goals will be accomplished by first examining the Biblical teaching on the creation of man and
woman in the Image of God. After examining some texts, establishing that mankind is created in
God's Image, I will discuss the implication of this assertion: namely, that every human life is sacred.
Finally, I will look at how God's sovereignty should inform our ... Show more content on

Genesis 5:1 again tells us that man was made "in the likeness of God," but it teaches us something
else as well. The same word for Hebrew word for "likeness" (demuth) is used to describe the birth of
Seth, a son in Adam's "own likeness." So, not only were Adam and Eve made in the image of God,
their offspring were likewise made in the image of God. Our third passage shows us that this truth
has carried on throughout the generations. Genesis 9:6 tells: "Whoever sheds the blood of man, by
man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image." One of the most important
aspects of these last two passages is that they come after the Fall. There is no indication that the
Image of God has been removed from humanity as a result of their rebellion against God.
Human Dignity Knowing that mankind is created in the Image of God has implications for how we
should view all human beings. As we read in Genesis 9:6 (listed above), we see the God–ordained
penalty for taking a human life. This strict punishment for the taking of human life is rooted in our
creation by God in His own image. The Sixth Commandment emphasizes and clarifies the warning
in Genesis 9:6, as God commands His people, "You shall not murder" (Exodus 20:13). The taking of
innocent human life is explicitly forbidden by God, because all human beings have intrinsic value
by virtue of our creation in God's Image. There is no corresponding

The Creator God Prajapati : The Creator Of The World
The creator god Prajapati is described in several ways as being the founder of the world and creating
the earth and heaven. He is considered a being who impregnated himself by combining the many
aspects of speech and mind. Prajapati is produced in the form of a golden egg which was made by
the waters. Prajapati is also a god of the animals and protector of the male sex organ which connects
him with nature and acts as a creator of the universe in the Brahmanas. Since his period of gestation
was one year and his lifespan is one thousand years, he was also linked with time.
Throughout the Hindu myth Brahmanas, the idea of birth and creation is heavily emphasized as the
beginning of the universe and time. An egg was produced from devotions and the god Prajapati
came about. His existence and first speech revealed several words. The events of time were recorded
in human activities and considered sacred. In the myth, it was mentioned that at the end of his year,
Prajapati rose to stand on his words. This act symbolized the act of a child standing up at the end of
the year. As a desire of offspring, Prajapati created the gods as he had the "power of reproduction
into his own self" (185).He went on to create the daylight and other creatures.
It is portrayed that in the very beginning, there was primeval waters which were very dark and deep.
Over the course of time, the same waters produced a golden egg which floated over the waters for
up to nine months which resembled a human

Causes Of Villain In Frankenstein
On the face of this gothic novel is a tale about a terrible creature that committed hideous acts against
the society. Most readers believe that the monster is the story's villain Contrary to this, the hidden
but true villain is Victor Frankenstein because the fateful events are the repercussions of his reckless
and irresponsible behavior. Victor Frankenstein did not directly kill his lovely family. However, he
is the only one to blame and only cause of the deathly catastrophe through the monster's creation,
his lack of responsibility for the monster, his isolation from the world resulting in the creature's
freedom to roam about at its pleasure neglected and unattended. Therefore Victor Frankenstein was
the root cause of the ruin of his family, his creation and eventually his very own life.
At first, even before the monster's creation, Frankenstein's physical and mental health is already in a
poor state because of his infatuation with the experiment. "Every night I was oppressed by a slow
fever, and I became nervous to a most painful degree...sometimes I grew alarmed at the wreck I
perceived that I had become (Shelly 42.)" This points to Victor as the sole perpetrator in his pain as
he seeks knowledge. His physical and mental condition continue to deteriorate as the story ... Show

What Is The Moral Of Frankenstein
The message, merits, and moral implications of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein have been long debated
and discussed. Many recurring themes which are apt to surface in these conversations are those such
as the woes of artificial creation and the "man is not God" argument. These themes have been so
thoroughly explored and exploited that this essay could not possibly generate and original thought
within the realms covered by these topics. In order to formulate something remotely fresh and at
least relatively interesting, this essay seeks to shift the focus to the less explored dilemmas which
Shelley may have purposely or subconsciously woven into the classic novel. The very fact that Mary
Shelley is a woman casts the already remarkable tale ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having shown that Shelley intended for Victor to play the role of 'mother' in her analogy, focus will
now shift to the ultimate point of the novel: The nurturing provided by a mother (Victor), is the most
necessary and vital experience of a child's life and directly affects the person he becomes. From the
very beginning, Victor shirks the responsibility of nurture and literally runs from it. As the creature
awakes he exclaims: "breathless horror and disgust filled my heart. Unable to endure the aspect of
the being I had created; I rushed out of the room" (Shelley 58). The Monster then immediately
assumes the role of infant in the relationship as Victor says, "His eyes were fixed on me. His jaws
opened, and he muttered some inarticulate sounds, while a grin wrinkled his cheeks" (Shelley 59).
In the normal human realm this situation would be met with a dozen tear–filled eyes seeking to hold
and coddle the creation. Unfortunately for the Monster, no such treatment is offered by Victor.
Frankenstein leaves the Monster to fend for himself. The horrible consequences of this lack of
nurturing follow with intensity and frequency. This is proven by the rapidly building sense of
confusion and loneliness within the monster. Feelings which are only multiplied by society's general
rejection of him. The Monster laments to Victor upon their reunion on these feelings, "no distinct
ideas occupied my mind: all was confused. I felt light, and

Trickster-God-Creator
Tricksters appear in the mythology and folklore of many cultures around the world. Although the
power and relative divinity of each Trickster varies from tradition to tradition, Tricksters have
important roles in the creation, development, and sometimes destruction, of each culture. The
Coyote of Native North American traditions is often depicted as assisting the "Great Mystery" or
"Great Spirit" in the creating and populating of the world (Leeming). In the Greek myths Hermes is
initially a sly infant who captures a tortoise with his untruths and fashions the first lyre from its
shell, but eventually transitions to a place amongst the Olympic pantheon as the messenger of the
gods. In the Norse myths of the Scandinavian countries, Loki is a ... Show more content on

Coyote is sometimes purely self–concerned, such as in the Sioux story of "Coyote, Iktome, and the
Rock" (Leeming 50–2), providing the subject for cautionary morality tales. He is also often the
victim of his own pride, such as his attempt to stay awake by propping open his eyes in order to be
the first to arrive at Spirit Chief's lodge at dawn and receive a new name. Coyote falls asleep
anyway, retains his name, and creates a permanent slant in his eyes (Dove 17–26). At other times,
however, Coyote is selfless and miraculous. In the tale of "Montezuma and Coyote in Canoes," from
the Papago tradition of Arizona, after the Great Mystery has made the earth, and people have been
made to populate it, led by Montezuma, Coyote comes to the great leader of men and instructs the
chief to build a canoe. Montezuma doesn't understand why he would need a canoe, but before long a
flood of Biblical magnitude washes away the land, and only Coyote and Montezuma survive to lead
the new people the Great Mystery creates to repopulate (Leeming 110–11). It would seem easier to
allow even the chief to perish in the flood if Coyote really is purely the self–important Trickster so
often depicted, but he seems intuitively to know that Montezuma will be a better leader to "teach the
people all the things they would need to know to survive" (111). Similarly, in the story of "Coyote
and the Footrace," Coyote allows his own son to be killed in order to teach the rituals for burial of
the dead

The Mindsets of Victims and Creators Essay
How many different types of mindsets are there? According to Dr. Skip Downing there are at least
two major mindsets. He refers to them as Victims and Creators. What are the definitions of these
types of mindsets? A Victim is someone who feels that they cannot influence their own outcomes in
life and let things happen without trying to shape the result. A Creator is someone who consistently
make choices that result in the outcome that they want. David Mirman has written an article that
provides this clear example of Victim and Creator mindsets using the example of two college
students searching for a textbook "The instructor asked them if they had the text. The first said "No,

Another example is in regards to his schoolwork. He sometimes will plough through work that he
doesn't completely understand and then complain about his bad grade. When he does this he will
never ask or accept help from other people. These are two examples of him exhibiting a Victim
mindset.
A Creator is someone who consistently makes decisions to create the lives they wish to live, they do
this by the decisions they make. My father exhibits qualities that fit this definition. One example of
this is his decision to go through extra schooling in his field in order to better provide for himself
and his family, he has taken many classes and courses in order to do this. Because of this decision he
has been able to improve what kind of career and life he has, consequently my family and I benefit
from those decisions every day. Another example is what he has done in order to advance in his
career, he has told me before that in order to be where he is today he endured through many jobs that
he despised. These examples show that my father has the mindset of a Creator.
After learning about the ways that a Creator thinks and approaches tasks I think that I can apply
certain aspects of this mindset in my own life. One important place I can apply this is in regards to
the way I approach my assignments from school or work. A Creator always finds solutions to
problems that they may

Frankenstein : The Villain In Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
Frankenstein, a novel written by Mary Shelley, published anonymously in 1818, strives to push the
limits of mortality. Although written as a ghost story competition between Shelley and her
companions, Frankenstein quickly became a famous story in the world of gothic literature. Victor
Frankenstein devoted years of his life, sacrificing his health and relationships, to reanimating the
once deceased; fashioning a creature of much resemblance to a human by taking what he needed
from individuals who had no longer use for them. Fascinated by doing God's work, Victor does not
stop to realize the cons of his creation. When his efforts were finally rewarded, he realized the being
was not one of his expectations. Scared of his own creation, Victor abandons it, claiming it to be a
monster. The creation, lost and confused, gradually understands its place in society, unpleased by the
results. A villain: "a cruelly malicious person who is involved in or devoted to wickedness or crime;
scoundrel" ("Villain"), much to the Creature's dismay, this is a definition that is inevitably cast upon
him.
The Creature was not created with the mind of a monster, the tedious life cursed upon it created the
mind of a monster, allowing it to flourish. In modern–day pop culture, villains have become iconic.

scriptures share a few beliefs in common. Both scriptures identify the belief of one God, who is
almighty and the creator of the earth and living things. Both scriptures express the understanding
that the Earth is God's domain in which God demands that all humans act according to God's
commandments and they will be redeemed in the eyes of the Lord. They also follow the belief that
there will be a coming of the Messiah, along with a doctrine of ... Show more content on

The Law, also known as the Torah contains the Five Books of Moses. These stories are about God's
creation of the world, and the relationship between God and Israel or God and man. One of the
central points in the Bible's account of the relationship between Israel and God is known as the
covenant. The word covenant can be translated to mean treaty or alliance. For example, in the book
of Genesis, God had promised Noah he would not send another flood to destroy the world. God
throughout all of these stories has a personal name, represented in Hebrew by four consonants:
YHWH. Since there are no vowels, no one is certain on how to pronounce it. Many Jews consider
the name too sacred to pronounce. In the Ten Commandments it even states that God's name should
never be taken in vain.
Most modern Jews today when reading the Tanakh substitute the word "Adonai" for YHWH.
Compared to the Christian scriptures, Judaism does not believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah.
Judaism follows the beliefs that God is a higher being. Judaism uses its sacred books to understand
the teachings of God and what he requires of all of his people. For Christianity, the sacred books of
Judaism are taken as a precaution for the divination of God through Christ that is portrayed in the
New Testament. The Christian Bible consists of both the Old and New Testaments. A term known as
Gnosticism influenced many Christianity beliefs. This affected the way that the

Comparing Frankenstein And The Monster In Mary Shelley's...
Comparing and Contrasting Victor and the Monster
Instead of creating a "normal" human, his creation ended up being a
disfigured creature who he then neglects. Upon his abandonment, the monster seeks revenge on
Victor after being cast away by society due to harsh physiognomy in which they entail because of
his grotesque and terrifying features. With no prior knowledge to the novel, many would simply
overlook the comparison of the two main characters, Victor and his creation, and simply state the
contrast between the two; Victor is the creator and the monster is simply a creation, the monster is
merely a human while Victor happens to encase all of the components he'd hoped for in the monster,
etc. While these comparisons and contrasts correlate to the book, a further glance into the novel
shows the even deeper comparison they share as the book advances, and also displays the staggering
contrast between the two antagonists. What began as a conquest for recognition,

A Brief Note On Creators And Victims Of Children

  • 1. A Brief Note On Creators And Victims Of Children There is a distinction between Creators and Victims. Creators are ambitious and let nothing stop them. Victims, on the other hand, let small barriers make big impacts on their lives and from there they give up. Although my family and I all grew up with similar resources, we all turned out different. My cousins, sister, and I all had parents that were not involved in our lives because our parents were, and still are, substance abusers. My sister and some of my cousins let their parents' absence impact their future. In contrast, I decided I was going to make my own fate; I was not going to let their absence affect me. As a result, I am a Creator. In contrast, my sister and cousins are Victims, and it is clear to see how the roles play out. Victims and Creators handle individual responsibility different, in areas such as negative emotions, financial matters, and career/future plans. Victims do not like to take individual responsibility. Likewise, they do not process negative emotions well either. Instead they find someone or something to blame for their life problems. For example, my cousin Jacob, the issue with him is he does not take responsibility for anything. Also, he lets his negative emotions out on other people. When Jacob lost his first job, he immediately blamed my grandmother. Claiming it was my grandmother 's fault for not letting him use her car enough. In that situation, Jacob is making excuses, he is denying his responsibilities. Jacob could have used the bus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Analysis Of The Bible : The Creator Of God God is the Creator of nature and the visible world seen around us. The Bible opens with the words "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1). Psalm 95:3–6 says, "For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In His hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is His also. The sea is His, and He made it: and His hands formed the dry land." Creation reflects the genius of the Creator's hand. How can one explain how a sparrow knows it is a sparrow and stays with its kind, or how a baby knows to look into the eyes of its mother when no one has taught it to do so? How was a wasp made so that its wings flap at 100 times every second, or the housefly at 190 per second, or the mosquito at an amazing 500 times every second? This passage in Psalm 104 beautifully portrays the creativity of our Maker: "Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, You are very great! You are clothed with splendor and majesty, . . . He sends forth springs in the valleys; they flow between the mountains . . . The earth is satisfied with the fruit of His works. He causes the grass to grow for the cattle and vegetation for the labor of man, so that he may bring forth food from the earth, . . . He made the moon for the seasons [and] the sun knows the place of its setting. You appoint darkness and it becomes night. . . . O Lord, how many are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of Your possessions." Another message to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. God Is Divine Love The Creator Of The Universe And Of All... God is divine love the creator of the universe and of all things. But how many of us really understand God at all? I would venture to say very few of us, if any at all. The First Step Toward Truth Is To Accept That You May Not Know It.So, how do we go about learning to love a God that we don't even understand? What is the truth about God! The first step in finding the truth is in accepting the fact that we might not know it. We will be discussing many things about God and religion with you and hopefully together we can gain a better understanding of our creator. Who Is God? God is everlasting love, joy and all wise that goes beyond all human understanding. Many people believe in a God and different religions see him in different forms. We see him in the form that we choose to see him in. Devotees of God will see him in the form Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, even an old man in the sky ext. However, the vision we see him as is just that a vision of what we believe he looks like. However, this is not the true nature of God. There have been many great teachers of God through the ages that are capable of teaching us about God, but to find God's true nature and the truly unique essence of him can only be found in deep meditation. Does God Have A Plan For Us? I never understood why people would think that God would have a plan for us when he gave us free will to decide for ourselves, and the intelligence to think and plan our own further out. So why would he then, threaten us ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Ex Machina And Frankenstein Throughout history, people have made works of art both praising and criticizing the development of science and technology. The novel by Mary Shelley, Frankenstein, shows an older form of this type of work, while the film, Ex Machina, shows the modern version of this. In both of the stories a new being is created, and while in the film the consequences of creating life are somewhat more thought out, both result in the deaths of the creators and others. This paper is going to analyze how different aspects of these two pieces compare including: their characters, their stories, and the themes or morals of the works. Both Frankenstein and Ex Machina involve realizing the complexities of life. They highlight the strengths and weaknesses of man, and warn of the advancements of the sciences. While neither are outright saying that science and advancement is a bad thing, they warn of the consequences of new technologies as well as the lack of understanding and planning. In the end, both of these stories warn and teach the reader or viewer about the shortcomings of mankind. While there are a few differences, the characters and the messages conveyed by them in the works, Ex Machina and Frankenstein, are generally very similar. In both of these works, the reader or viewer's opinion of the different characters and their actions changes as they are developed. It is ambiguous who the protagonist is supposed to be in both stories, and initial opinions on who really is on the "right side" ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. God Is The Creator And Savior Of All We, as one body of Christ, were made in the image of God. God is the creator and savior of all. He is very loving and caring to all his creations. I believe that we, the people, were created due to his endless and overwhelming love. Because of that, we were called to be God's disciple and to be more like him in every way. And so, this leads to being a Christ–like Character. What does it mean? What does it mean to be a person like Christ? Someone who exemplifies Christ–like character means that people can look at that person and feel God's presence in him or her. A Christ–like character means to be like God himself. 1 Corinthians 1:1 states "Paul, called by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and our brother Sosthenes." My dad, who is currently a Pastor at a Korean Presbyterian church, is an example of this. He is a man of God and a disciple who needs to be shared about. My dad, Kyoung Su Mun, is a devoted man. He is passionate towards what he does and is committed to serving God throughout his entire life. Kyoung is called to serve and preach to others about God's word and the Gospel. I believe that my dad exemplifies Christ–like character because not only does he try to be more like God, he shows God's presence to others. He is a very loving and caring man. He helps people go into the right path, which is the path to Jesus Christ. There are many wonderful traits I can talk about to describe my dad, but one of the most important of them is respect. • 11. Questions On An Argument On The Existence Of A Prime... Part 1: Clarifying an Argument State the argument you find in Passage 1 in explicit premise–and–conclusion form. PASSAGE 1: (P1) Every event must have a cause. (P2) An infinite series of events is inconceivable. (P3) There must be a first cause. (C1) The first cause must have at least been the originator of the universe. (C2) The first cause is God. PASSAGE 2: Nagel's Counterargument (P1) Positing the existence of a first cause does not explain away the infinite regression of events. (P2) If God is self–caused, then there are no limits to what can be self–caused. (P3) If everything must have a cause, so must God. (C1) The existence of the world and the vast matrix of events that occur every day do not necessitate the existence of a prime mover, or creator (or God). Part 2: Clarifying an Objection to an Argument State in your own words and as concisely as possible what you take Nagel 's objection in Passage 2 to mean. Your task is not only to explain Nagel 's words but also to show how they bear on the argument in Passage 1. What is it, exactly, about the argument that Nagel is objecting to, which premise or inference does he reject? I believe Nagel is saying that if every event must have a cause, the infinite chain of events presumably necessitated by this logic in fact follows, assuming one's acceptance of the mathematical concept of infinity. Ergo, there does not have to be a God or even a first cause, as the cosmological argument ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. God Is All Good, And The Creator Of All Things We Create It? In the religious world, Christians believe that the God they serve is a good God. If the God that Christians serve is such a good God, All knowing and all powerful, and if the God Christians serve only wants the best for human kind then why is there evil? How do parents lose their life leaving their young children alone? Why do babies and children die of leukemia? How is there so much hate, violence, and evil in the World? Evil is defined as wickedness, and depravity, especially when regarded as a supernatural force. Good, however, is defined as having the qualities required for a particular role or a desired approval of righteousness. If God is all Good, and the creator of all things why does evil exist? Throughout Christian history ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "God gave us free will, and we may choose to exercise it in ways that end up hurting other people." This statement made by Francis Collins, puts the ball back in the court of the people. Free will has always been a big part of the question of regarding evil. Regardless of your religion or lack thereof. It is a common understanding that people have the freedom to do whatever they want. A great example of this is the story of Adam and Eve. Christians believe this evil first entered the earth. In this story Adam was given instructions not to eat the fruit for a certain tree, however after talking with a serpent who was also in the garden Eve was convinced that she could eat from the tree. She and Adam excised free will and both suffered the consequences. (Genesis 2:16–25) Mankind have the right to do and say what they feel. There are consequences to every action however god cannot be them blame for your chosen actions. In the Christian bible there is a story where Jesus and his disciples come upon a blind man, who had been blind since birth. The disciples ask Jesus who sinned this man or his parents? The questions in depth was really, what evil action caused this consequence? What caused is this man to suffer from lack of sight (Bible). The disciples assumed something wrong had been done. However in John chapter nine verse three Jesus answered, "Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so the works of God might display in him. It is ... • 15. Frankenstein Literary Analysis : The Creator And His Creation Lucas Shelton Mr. Small English 12 3 March 2015 Frankenstein Literary Analysis: The Creator and his Creation "I ought to be thy Adam; but I am rather the fallen angel" (Shelley 87). In the popular novel Frankenstein, author Mary Shelley examines difficult questions regarding the creation of life and the shortcomings of mankind. The narrative is centered around a young scientist by the name of Victor Frankenstein, whose unrelenting pursuit of knowledge leads him into the most dangerous experiment of his life, the results of which would haunt him for years afterwards. There is no doubt that this novel seemingly correlates with the creation account of Adam in the book of Genesis, yet there are key similarities and differences which set them apart from one another. In Frankenstein, the author shifts from keen anticipation to unmistakable self–loathing thorough various allusions including the original creation of man, the desire for a mate, and the introduction of death to the world; proving that no mortals should attempt to take on the role of God because they are imperfect beings and will ultimately fail. The first instance of man's flaws in the novel is his inability to predict how or when certain events will occur. In the beginning, Victor and God had similar expectations as to how their creations would behave. Both believed that they would follow a certain moral code and obey a specific set of commands. Yet, the monster and Adam both came to the decision that they knew ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Role of Identity in Mary Shelleys Frankenstein Essays In past and present, society has always put an emphasis on external appearance as opposed to inner personality. As a result, social classes are formed, such as upper and lower, wherein members of each class must uphold the norms defined by the prestige of the class. Upper classes are deemed to be perfect, as they contain the wealthy and the beautiful. This class distinction is heightened in Gothic literature where emotions and the persona of the characters are externalized. Emotions are literalized as characters, supernatural phenomena, and the protagonist and antagonist roles. Victor Frankenstein's upbringing in a perfect society ultimately led to the destruction of his life which coincided with the lives of those emotionally close to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He experienced the burden of loneliness by living in a superficial society and did not have the character to cope with it. For Victor, parenting had become an issue of possession, ownership and self–exaggeration. The issue of parenting soon became an obsession with power. This need of power led Victor to create what he believed would be a beautiful human being. But he failed to see that combining the most beautiful human features does not necessarily create a beautiful human being. He was inspired by scientists who ...acquired new and almost limitless powers... (Shelley, Frankenstein, P. 47). Victor sought this unlimited power to the extent of taking the role of God. He not only penetrated nature, but also he assumed power of reproduction in a maniacal desire to harness these modes of reproduction in order to become acknowledged, respected, and obeyed as a father. While bringing his creation into the world he was himself alienated from society, and isolated himself from the community. Isolation and parental neglect cause viciousness within man. Because of his upbringing, Victor had no sense of empathy, and therefore could not realize the potential harm he was creating towards himself and his creation. The sole purpose of his project was an attempt to gain power, but instead of power Victor realized that a morally irresponsible ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Genesis 1:27 KJV "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." "The phrase "The problem of evil" is a label of such problems involving both God and evil."(Thick book page 413) Evil exists because of a choice man made to knowingly disobey God in the Garden of Eden. Gottfried Leibniz argues that God is obligated to create the best possible world. He states "The metaphysically richest world must contain the greatest number and variety of beings" (page 1185 thick book) Leibniz believed for the world to be the best it had to have both good and evil existing in it. According to Leibniz a world without diversity would not be the best possible world. The fact that there is good and evil proves that God made the best possible world, that He is just, omnipotent, and omnibenevolent. Leibniz is correct in his belief that god is just, omnipotent, and omnibenevolent however God as part of His nature, because He is holy, cannot be the author of evil. • 21. Compare And Contrast Hyde And Frankenstein Dantès is also shown to be similar to Frankenstein and Jekyll, in that the three are unable to escape from their creations. Dantès and Jekyll are trapped more so than Frankenstein, as they are the same person as their creations, whereas Frankenstein is trapped by being unable to bring himself to create a female creature due to the effect it may have on society. Frankenstein's identity is called into question here, as he becomes almost defined, in the Creature's eyes, as being unable to keep his word. The Creature's words show a parallel between himself and Hyde and Frankenstein and Jekyll: "You are my creator, but I am your master – obey!" The verb "obey" causes the creator's identities to be reduced to that of slaves: Frankenstein is forced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Dantès is imprisoned, he loses his name, Hyde is known solely by his appearance, and the Creature is never given a name. This contrasts with the socially accepted Monte Cristo, Henry Jekyll and Victor Frankenstein. Their names allow them to be accepted by, not forgotten about, shunned, or left incapable of joining, society. Unlike Hyde and Dantès, the Creature is never named. He is constantly referred to as a "creature" and a "miserable fiend." This mainly comes through Frankenstein's point of view, which suggests that the Creature's monstrousness stems from Frankenstein's perceptions of him and the way he is originally presented to the reader. Had the novel been written from his point of view, it can be suggested that the Creature would not be viewed as such a monster by society, and readers would have more sympathy for him. The absence causes him to be dehumanised in a similar way to Dantès, who is renamed "Number 34." Hyde, however, is named, allowing Jekyll's view of his alter–ego being "natural and human" to be more accepted by society. Hyde's naturalness can said to be due to his evilness as he represents the 'original sin' found inside all of us. Dantès and the Creature are shunned by society when they are without a name because they are distanced from society. Whilst Dantès' distance is literal as he has been taken away from Marseille, the Creature's distance remains figurative – he follows Frankenstein and is in fact very close to society. His distance stems from his hideousness and the absence of a name to introduce himself by. He is left to forge his own identity which comes as an incredibly hard task. Modern readers have felt sympathy for the Creature in his struggle to be accepted: Shelley's use of his point of view in the novel aids this, however at the time of writing, readers generally viewed the Creature as a ... • 23. The Bible : God Is The Creator Of Life God's Word, the Bible, is the ultimate source of our foundation. It is the starting point of understanding. God is the Creator of life and his Word provides sound doctrine and validates that taking a life from the womb of a mother is an abomination to the Creator himself. "Therefore, if a baby is born mentally or physically handicapped, his value is seen as greatly diminished and he can be extinguished through abortion or infanticide. This pagan, or secular view connects decisions about whether a person should live or die to their likely 'quality of life.' But this view focuses completely on the physical part of life and ignores the spiritual. We were not created to have a good time and pursue our selfish interests, although God allows us to if we choose. We were created to honor God." Mark A. Beliles & Douglas S. Anderson, Contending for the Constitution p.110 (Providence Foundation, 2005). The Bible clearly states that we are to "choose life" (Deuteronomy 30:19). Anyone who chooses otherwise is choosing death. "Not only does the Bible provide us with the basis for man's value in a general sense since we have a divine source, it also gives us the basis for believing that each individual is important. 1 Corinthians 12:14–18 demonstrates that each person has a unique purpose and that God gives us our purpose. • 28. Portrayal Of Abortion In Frankenstein Damaged "I, the miserable and the abandoned, am an abortion, to be spurned at, and kicked, and trampled on." (165) In the statement made by Frankenstein's Creature to Walter, Mary Shelley utilizes emotionally charged diction and biblical allusions in order to demonstrate the motif of abortion. The strong language, that the Creature uses regarding itself, defines the feelings of great loss and depression, such emotions that it's creator, Victor Frankenstein, felt throughout the novel. The quotation shows that the creator hates the Creature's construction and wishes it was destroyed. The conversation with Walter allows the Creature to lament his given life and neglection thereby providing a statement of humanness, what the qualifications are to be human, and how one deserves the things a human does. There is inherently self–hatred and loneliness that the Creature feels, being the only one of it's kind and abandoned to its own devices. The following underlines the plot with Shelley's own experiences with miscarriage, a form of abortion. As these ideologies combine to form the role of a creator and creation, Shelley's characterization of the Creature, being rejected and abused, portrays the internal and external influences the Creature experiences with it's being. Within the first word of the Creature's dialogue there is no mistaking, who it is and how it presents its existence. It begins it's sentence with "I", using the word as an impactful descriptor of prefacing what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Comparison Of Monster In Frankenstein In the Novel Frankenstein by Mary shelly, the novel jumps between the two narrative perspectives of "monster" and creator. By jumping from two different perspectives throughout the novel we are able to understand the thoughts and feelings of each character in a new way. Reading through different perspectives, allows the story to have greater depth and meaning. Each perspective brings a new dimension to the novel that makes for a more complex story. Furthermore, the perspectives allow for the two characters to be compared and contrasted throughout the entirety of the novel. When reading from Victor's point of view, we can see how he feels about the monster. "How can I describe my emotions at this catastrophe, or how delineate the wretch whom with such infinite pains and care I had endeavoured to form? His limbs were in proportion, and I had selected his features as beautiful. Beautiful! Great God! His yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries beneath; his hair was of a lustrous black, and flowing; his teeth of a pearly whiteness; but these luxuriances only formed a more horrid contrast with his watery eyes, that seemed almost of the same colour as the dun–white sockets in which they were set, his shrivelled complexion and straight black lips." (Chapter 5) Being that he created something hideous and evil, when in reality he was only trying to invent something great for mankind. Some of the major expositors of this argument are Lane Craig, JP Moreland, Groothuis and many others. In fact, nothing lacks all casual power, therefore material things should have a cause. Groothuis in his book shares that he does not conceive the idea that a musician appears in from of him from nowhere. Therefore all beginnings have to have a cause. God Is The Creator Of All People, And The Israelites The modern Christian religion tells each of its followers that God loves us all, sinners and innocents alike, if only we would accept God into our hearts. But how true is that statement? While God is the creator of all people, and the Israelites are supposed to be his chosen people, God does not act as such in the Bible. Rather than being interested in humanity in general, or even the Israelites specifically, God is primarily interested in certain individuals. These works suggest that even God has favorites. God drives out "man and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life" and to the entrance to the garden of Eden (Genesis 3:24). These people may have been cared for by God, but by disobeying him, they lose God's favor, showing that it was only favor that Adam and Eve had to begin with. Even the Israelites, God's chosen people, are only briefly in God's favor, and that is not as a result of any inherent interest in this group of people, but rather because the majority of God's favorite individuals arise from this group. The people of Israel were overcome by the Egyptians and the Egyptians thus "set taskmasters over them to afflict them with heavy burdens" (Exodus 1:11). The Israelites "groaned because of their slavery and cried out for help" and only then "God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob" (Exodus 2:23; Exodus 2:24). Cultural Values In Prometheus And Mary Shelley's Frankenstein The creation myths/stories from around the world such as the stories of Genesis from Christianity, Prometheus from Greek myth made in the attempt to explain their unknown origin and Mary Shelley's story of Frankenstein express cultural values from the society they originate, some of which show similarities. In addition to these cultural values these stories set up a relationship between the creator and the creation, and with it their views and obligations to one another. Furthermore, these myths establish characteristics on the nature of man, their creator and humanities condition. Cultural values are revealed in these stories. The greek myth of Prometheus shows that ancient greek culture blamed women for the evils of the world, as a result from the gods. This cultural concept is demonstrated because in the story Prometheus, Pandora is sent down from Zeus as a proxy punishment; she was designed to inevitably open a box to release all that would release all that is evil into the world but was made so Zeus could punish humanity indirectly. The reader almost feels compassion for the beings suffering. Is this because we, as people, better relate to sin? It seems that the reader wants to side with evil because even when our key examples, Adam and Eve, seem faultless, they can 't refuse to into a life of sin. Through this, the reader feels sympathy for someone or something that is an outcast. Outcasts of these two stories are Adam and Eve to God, Satan to God, and the monster to Victor. Victor Frankenstein 's sole focus is on himself and it blinds him to the ability to be reasonable or take responsibility for his creation as well as exhibits how the Creature at times displays more maturity, rationality, or human qualities than his creator. Essentially, the Creature is given no opportunity to become a functioning unit of society because he is given no insight into surviving as a human, aside from what he is able to gather through observation. This lack of insight is contributed to the way Victor disregards his own creation; leaving him to defend himself in a curious world who is at times seemingly ignorant of his existence. However, the creature was built and Victor describes it to be as "I had selected his features as beautiful. Beautiful! Great God!". (Shelley #58). Nevertheless, when Victor went away to the valley and feeling some form of isolation the creature was left to be on its own and thus followed Victor. Victor wanted to have a pleasant escape and remove all his grief. Suddenly Victor saw a figure of a man. "He approached; his countenance bespoke bitter anguish, combined with disdain and malignity, while its unearthly ugliness rendered it almost too horrible for human eyes". (Shelley #104). Victor called the creature a devil and then said "do you dare approach me?". (Shelley#104). The created mentions that he expects this behavior of Victor. The creature then exclaimed "Yet you, my creator, detest and spurn me, thy creature and "Do your duty towards me and I will do mine towards you and the rest of mankind". (Shelly #104). • 62. Biblical Teaching On The Creation Of Man And The Image Of God Introduction This paper will attempt to demonstrate the following assertions: 1) Mankind is created in the Image of God, 2) Every human being is created with (and maintains throughout their life) the dignity, value, and worth that comes from being an image–bearer of the Creator God of the Universe, and 3) God, as the Creator, has sovereign rule over all matters of life and death. These goals will be accomplished by first examining the Biblical teaching on the creation of man and woman in the Image of God. After examining some texts, establishing that mankind is created in God's Image, I will discuss the implication of this assertion: namely, that every human life is sacred. Finally, I will look at how God's sovereignty should inform our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Genesis 5:1 again tells us that man was made "in the likeness of God," but it teaches us something else as well. The same word for Hebrew word for "likeness" (demuth) is used to describe the birth of Seth, a son in Adam's "own likeness." So, not only were Adam and Eve made in the image of God, their offspring were likewise made in the image of God. Our third passage shows us that this truth has carried on throughout the generations. Genesis 9:6 tells: "Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image." One of the most important aspects of these last two passages is that they come after the Fall. There is no indication that the Image of God has been removed from humanity as a result of their rebellion against God. Human Dignity Knowing that mankind is created in the Image of God has implications for how we should view all human beings. As we read in Genesis 9:6 (listed above), we see the God–ordained penalty for taking a human life. This strict punishment for the taking of human life is rooted in our creation by God in His own image. The Sixth Commandment emphasizes and clarifies the warning in Genesis 9:6, as God commands His people, "You shall not murder" (Exodus 20:13). The taking of innocent human life is explicitly forbidden by God, because all human beings have intrinsic value by virtue of our creation in God's Image. There is no corresponding ... He is considered a being who impregnated himself by combining the many aspects of speech and mind. Prajapati is produced in the form of a golden egg which was made by the waters. Prajapati is also a god of the animals and protector of the male sex organ which connects him with nature and acts as a creator of the universe in the Brahmanas. Since his period of gestation was one year and his lifespan is one thousand years, he was also linked with time. Throughout the Hindu myth Brahmanas, the idea of birth and creation is heavily emphasized as the beginning of the universe and time. An egg was produced from devotions and the god Prajapati came about. His existence and first speech revealed several words. The events of time were recorded in human activities and considered sacred. In the myth, it was mentioned that at the end of his year, Prajapati rose to stand on his words. This act symbolized the act of a child standing up at the end of the year. As a desire of offspring, Prajapati created the gods as he had the "power of reproduction into his own self" (185).He went on to create the daylight and other creatures. It is portrayed that in the very beginning, there was primeval waters which were very dark and deep. Over the course of time, the same waters produced a golden egg which floated over the waters for up to nine months which resembled a human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 66. Causes Of Villain In Frankenstein On the face of this gothic novel is a tale about a terrible creature that committed hideous acts against the society. Most readers believe that the monster is the story's villain Contrary to this, the hidden but true villain is Victor Frankenstein because the fateful events are the repercussions of his reckless and irresponsible behavior. Victor Frankenstein did not directly kill his lovely family. However, he is the only one to blame and only cause of the deathly catastrophe through the monster's creation, his lack of responsibility for the monster, his isolation from the world resulting in the creature's freedom to roam about at its pleasure neglected and unattended. Therefore Victor Frankenstein was the root cause of the ruin of his family, his creation and eventually his very own life. At first, even before the monster's creation, Frankenstein's physical and mental health is already in a poor state because of his infatuation with the experiment. "Every night I was oppressed by a slow fever, and I became nervous to a most painful degree...sometimes I grew alarmed at the wreck I perceived that I had become (Shelly 42.)" • 68. What Is The Moral Of Frankenstein The message, merits, and moral implications of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein have been long debated and discussed. Many recurring themes which are apt to surface in these conversations are those such as the woes of artificial creation and the "man is not God" argument. These themes have been so thoroughly explored and exploited that this essay could not possibly generate and original thought within the realms covered by these topics. In order to formulate something remotely fresh and at least relatively interesting, this essay seeks to shift the focus to the less explored dilemmas which Shelley may have purposely or subconsciously woven into the classic novel. Having shown that Shelley intended for Victor to play the role of 'mother' in her analogy, focus will now shift to the ultimate point of the novel: The nurturing provided by a mother (Victor), is the most necessary and vital experience of a child's life and directly affects the person he becomes. From the very beginning, Victor shirks the responsibility of nurture and literally runs from it. As the creature awakes he exclaims: "breathless horror and disgust filled my heart. Unable to endure the aspect of the being I had created; I rushed out of the room" (Shelley 58). The Monster then immediately assumes the role of infant in the relationship as Victor says, "His eyes were fixed on me. His jaws opened, and he muttered some inarticulate sounds, while a grin wrinkled his cheeks" (Shelley 59). In the normal human realm this situation would be met with a dozen tear–filled eyes seeking to hold and coddle the creation. Unfortunately for the Monster, no such treatment is offered by Victor. Frankenstein leaves the Monster to fend for himself. The horrible consequences of this lack of nurturing follow with intensity and frequency. This is proven by the rapidly building sense of confusion and loneliness within the monster. Feelings which are only multiplied by society's general rejection of him. The Monster laments to Victor upon their reunion on these feelings, "no distinct ideas occupied my mind: all was confused. I felt light, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although the power and relative divinity of each Trickster varies from tradition to tradition, Tricksters have important roles in the creation, development, and sometimes destruction, of each culture. The Coyote of Native North American traditions is often depicted as assisting the "Great Mystery" or "Great Spirit" in the creating and populating of the world (Leeming). Coyote is sometimes purely self–concerned, such as in the Sioux story of "Coyote, Iktome, and the Rock" (Leeming 50–2), providing the subject for cautionary morality tales. He is also often the victim of his own pride, such as his attempt to stay awake by propping open his eyes in order to be the first to arrive at Spirit Chief's lodge at dawn and receive a new name. Coyote falls asleep anyway, retains his name, and creates a permanent slant in his eyes (Dove 17–26). At other times, however, Coyote is selfless and miraculous. In the tale of "Montezuma and Coyote in Canoes," from the Papago tradition of Arizona, after the Great Mystery has made the earth, and people have been made to populate it, led by Montezuma, Coyote comes to the great leader of men and instructs the chief to build a canoe. Montezuma doesn't understand why he would need a canoe, but before long a flood of Biblical magnitude washes away the land, and only Coyote and Montezuma survive to lead the new people the Great Mystery creates to repopulate (Leeming 110–11). It would seem easier to allow even the chief to perish in the flood if Coyote really is purely the self–important Trickster so often depicted, but he seems intuitively to know that Montezuma will be a better leader to "teach the people all the things they would need to know to survive" (111). Similarly, in the story of "Coyote and the Footrace," Coyote allows his own son to be killed in order to teach the rituals for burial of the dead ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 72. The Mindsets of Victims and Creators Essay How many different types of mindsets are there? According to Dr. Skip Downing there are at least two major mindsets. He refers to them as Victims and Creators. What are the definitions of these types of mindsets? A Victim is someone who feels that they cannot influence their own outcomes in life and let things happen without trying to shape the result. A Creator is someone who consistently make choices that result in the outcome that they want. David Mirman has written an article that provides this clear example of Victim and Creator mindsets using the example of two college students searching for a textbook "The instructor asked them if they had the text. My father exhibits qualities that fit this definition. One example of this is his decision to go through extra schooling in his field in order to better provide for himself and his family, he has taken many classes and courses in order to do this. These examples show that my father has the mindset of a Creator. After learning about the ways that a Creator thinks and approaches tasks I think that I can apply certain aspects of this mindset in my own life. • 74. Frankenstein : The Villain In Mary Shelley's Frankenstein Frankenstein, a novel written by Mary Shelley, published anonymously in 1818, strives to push the limits of mortality. Although written as a ghost story competition between Shelley and her companions, Frankenstein quickly became a famous story in the world of gothic literature. Victor Frankenstein devoted years of his life, sacrificing his health and relationships, to reanimating the once deceased; fashioning a creature of much resemblance to a human by taking what he needed from individuals who had no longer use for them. Fascinated by doing God's work, Victor does not stop to realize the cons of his creation. When his efforts were finally rewarded, he realized the being was not one of his expectations. Scared of his own creation, Victor abandons it, claiming it to be a monster. The creation, lost and confused, gradually understands its place in society, unpleased by the results. A villain: "a cruelly malicious person who is involved in or devoted to wickedness or crime; scoundrel" ("Villain"), much to the Creature's dismay, this is a definition that is inevitably cast upon him. The Creature was not created with the mind of a monster, the tedious life cursed upon it created the mind of a monster, allowing it to flourish. In modern–day pop culture, villains have become iconic. Killer Croc, a villain in the D.C. universe, lived a story similar to one of the Creature. For example, in the book of Genesis, God had promised Noah he would not send another flood to destroy the world. God throughout all of these stories has a personal name, represented in Hebrew by four consonants: YHWH. Since there are no vowels, no one is certain on how to pronounce it. Many Jews consider the name too sacred to pronounce. In the Ten Commandments it even states that God's name should never be taken in vain. Most modern Jews today when reading the Tanakh substitute the word "Adonai" for YHWH. Compared to the Christian scriptures, Judaism does not believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah. Judaism follows the beliefs that God is a higher being. Judaism uses its sacred books to understand the teachings of God and what he requires of all of his people. • 78. Comparing Frankenstein And The Monster In Mary Shelley's... Comparing and Contrasting Victor and the Monster Mary W. Shelley's brilliant gothic story, Frankenstein, is one that emits the prevalent theme of light versus dark, in which possesses obvious characteristics of a novel written during the romantic era. The novel tells the account of the overambitious Victor Frankenstein, who created a monster in hopes that he'd be known for crafting something human from the body parts of corpses with physical and mental advantages in society, basically playing the part of God on Earth, but through the auspices of science. Instead of creating a "normal" human, his creation ended up being a disfigured creature who he then neglects. Upon his abandonment, the monster seeks revenge on Victor after being cast away by society due to harsh physiognomy in which they entail because of his grotesque and terrifying features. With no prior knowledge to the novel, many would simply overlook the comparison of the two main characters, Victor and his creation, and simply state the contrast between the two; Victor is the creator and the monster is simply a creation, the monster is merely a human while Victor happens to encase all of the components he'd hoped for in the monster, etc. While these comparisons and contrasts correlate to the book, a further glance into the novel shows the even deeper comparison they share as the book advances, and also displays the staggering contrast between the two antagonists.
